We have finally found the perfect place for our two doggies! They stayed there this past weekend, and Pixie was absolutely amazing! We have small dogs, and I've always been so worried about leaving them at one of those big doggie daycare or boarding centers because of their size. What I love about this cottage is that they only have small dogs, so I feel so much more comfortable knowing they are around dogs their own size. Our dogs absolutely loved it! It truly feels like a home away from home. They also upload photos and videos so you can see how your pets are doing, which gives me so much peace of mind while they're away. I highly recommend this place! I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful, loving, and caring place for our fur babies. We will definitely be back. read more

We came across The Dog Cottage by chance while looking for companionship for our dog after her sister crossed the rainbow bridge--and we're so glad we did. From the start, the owner was thoughtful and intentional, setting up a meet-and-greet with our dog and the dogs already in her care to be sure everyone was a good fit. It went wonderfully. She clearly understands dog dynamics and shared that she specializes in small dogs and that older dogs fell comfortable there, which was exactly what we were looking for. Our dog absolutely loves going for both daycare and overnight stays. Our dog has occasional gastrointestinal issues, and the owner is meticulous about following her specific diet without us having to worry or remind her. We're consistently kept in the loop with updates, and she regularly posts photos and videos so we can see how happy, relaxed, and comfortable our dog is while she's there. Drop-offs are completely stress-free--our dog is genuinely excited to go, and that says everything. It truly feels like her second home. If you have a small dog and want a place where care is intentional, calm, and genuinely loving, the Dog Cottage is the place! read more

Just came back from picking up our 2 dogs. It was a great experience dealing with this place. We constantly received video and picture updates on the facebook site. It provided us great comfort knowing our puppers were having a great time and in good hands throughout the stay. Very reasonably priced and knowledgeable person. I would definitely bring my dogs back here for either day care or overnights. The owner (Jacqueline) has a beautiful backyard oasis that the dogs get to wonder around at. The dogs are free to go inside and out of the home into the backyard as they please. It is well maintained with beautiful gardens. I'm glad to have found this place to bring my puppers for care. read more

I have a 14 year old dog, Princess that I adopted 2 years ago. I haven't been able to travel because she is so attached to me, and I couldn't find a proper place for her, until I met Jacque. My dreams came true, she is so nurturing and loves all of the dogs she cares for. I was able to get away in January, and left Princess for 3 nights. I was not worried at all because I knew that she would be treated like a Princess :) When I picked her up, she was glad to see me but I could tell she loved it there. Jacque has such a lovely backyard for the dogs to play in or just relax in the sun. Now I can take more trips, and feel very comfortable leaving my dog. If your looking for someone to care for your dog while your away, look no more Jacque is the best!! read more

If there were 10 stars to give Jacques (Dog Cottage) for the care and affection she gives her guests(dogs) I would. She always has a good mix of dogs that have personalities that compliment each other and play well with others. I take my boy Spike there on weekend trips and last visit he was there for two weeks. Knowing I can view posts on FB and see pics/videos on how he is doing is very reassuring. If I have a question she is quick to respond . I referred a girlfriend to Jacques and now, she also leaves her boy (Kobe) there when she needs a sitter. We are planning a one month trip and as soon as I have dates confirmed I will let Jacques"Dog Cottage" know so I can be sure Spike will be in good hands. Obviously I highly recommend Dog Cottage (Jacque) for anyone who has a need for dog sitting for there dog. read more

I just wanted to provide an update about how super awesome and loving Jacque is with our little man, Marvin. Jacque is someone you can trust, is always prompt about getting back to us with scheduling, and will go out of her way to make things easy for you. She specializes in small to medium size dogs - which as a small dog owner I really like. Her customer service and care for the dogs is not only top notch - it is the best in Los Angeles. I really don't think it gets better than this. What you get when you come to Dog Cottage isn't just someone who will 'watch' your dog, but someone who will actually care about your dog when you are away. We recently had Marvin stay with Jacque for two nights when we went to San Diego. When we were driving back from San Diego we hit crazy insane traffic due to a wildfire. We had to call Jacque and ask if she could keep Marvin for another night. She was beyond helpful in working to keep Marvin an extra night at the last minute. I couldn't even begin to tell you how much we appreciated this. As a side note - as a NEW client, I want to point out that Marie R's review seems really wrong and out of place here. First, Jacque doesn't even have a cell phone - she doesn't text - she only uses her house phone and messages through facebook. Jacque also always does a meet up first with any new dogs she takes on. This is to make sure your dog works with her dogs and that your dog feels comfortable in her space (super awesome back yard by the way!). I suspect this person expected Jacque to take their dog at the very last minute without there being time to do the meet up first. Regardless, there is NO WAY IN HELL Jacque would ever say to someone "just leave your dog at the vet." Impossible. A lie. As someone who is a recently new client I can tell you this was never my experience with jacque. She takes her job seriously and loves that she can give dog owners peace of mind when they are away. I would encourage anyone looking for pet sitter services to do a meet and greet with Jacque - you will immediately know this is the place for you! She is always concerned about their well being and really connects with the dog in a special way. Marvin absolutely loves his Chimama and has so much fun with her when he's there. Thanks for being so awesome Jacque! read more

Our puppy is our little baby so when we both had to go out of town we were worried about boarding her. We've done it before but hated how she was in a kennel 98% of the time. It just seemed so sad :( My bf looked up a lot of different pet hotels and boarding places and came across the Dog Cottage. We were both really excited to find it since the dogs are allowed to run around a yard to play and that there would only be a few dogs accepted at one time. When we came for the meet and greet, we knew immediately this is where we wanted our baby to go while we were out of town. Jacque is a very sweet and warm lady who really loves dogs and the yard has a nice zen like feel to it that our puppy loved. The best part, Jacque posts videos and pictures daily of the pets so we were able to see our baby playing and socializing with the other dogs. Enthusiastically recommended. Two paws up! read more

I didn't want to write a review, because I didn't want other people to find Jacque. She's so awesome and I don't want her to be booked when I need her. But I know I can't be selfish, and Jacque deserves her 5 stars. If I can give her more stars, I would! I don't trust my Pokey with anyone else other than Jacque. Everytime I take Pokey over to Jacque's house, he doesn't even look back when she takes him inside. That's how much Pokey loves it there. I've tried other boarding places and he was always so scared when I took him there. I really don't know what "Marie R" is talking about. Jacque always emails me and gets back to me right away. She is so responsive via phone or emails. She has never once failed me. Jacque always keeps me posted through facebook with videos and pictures of my baby all day! With Jacque, I know Pokey is in good hands. She even lets my Pokey sleep with her. Where else do you find that? She truly treats all her guest like her own. I live in West Covina and I drive all the way to Pasadena for Jacque because I know she really loves Pokey like her own. read more

We went to visit family in San Francisco over the weekend scheduled with Dog Cottage to take care of our pooch. I think the best reference you can get is from our poodle, BB. He usually whines and cries when we leave him at home alone or at a friend's place for an hour or so, but when we took him to the Dog Cottage, he went running to Jacquie and started playing with the other dogs as soon as we put him down. It was almost as if he likes her better than he likes us! I guess the con is that Jacquie takes such good care of BB, that we don't feel as needed! :D read more

Our dog Jack stayed with Jacque while we were in Pasadena for a wedding. He's never been boarded, and we were not sure how he would do around other dogs. We were concerned with finding a place that would care for our pup like WE do, but based on the great reviews on yelp, we decided to go with Jacque. I can't begin to tell you how happy we are that we found her. She obviously loves her charges and it shows in the care and attention she gives. No cages here, just room for the dogs to roam and play. Jacque's house is the most dog friendly place that you can imagine. It is a palace for pups and they let Jacque live there. When we picked Jack up, he was actually smiling, and wearing a little bandana that Jacque made. How cute is that? Four paws up for the Dog Cottage! read more

Taken care of like there her dogs. Loving place for your dog to stay and not to worry about your small dogs. Pixie gets a 5 star.

I am so glad I found Jacque at the dog cottage!! Her home is perfect for the little ones. I have 2 Maltese and they felt like they were at home. Jacque is so sweet and so good with my dogs. She took very good care of them. She also fed them broth! ( of course she asked first and I was okay with it.) They were in heaven! Thank you so much Jacque for caring for my little girls while I was away. You're the best! read more

I feel so lucky to have found Jacque. She treats my little fur baby as if she were her own. My pampered pooch can be a bit of a Princess but Chimama is patient and understanding. The love she has for animals oozes from her pores and I never have to worry about how my Lucy is doing with Chimama at the Dog Cottage, which is in the most peaceful setting. Whether she's making a bandana for my dog, warming her canned food or making sure my dog sends me an email when I'm traveling, Chimama goes the extra yard. I've had my pooch for 11 years and have never had anyone take the time with her that Jacque does. And her own babies, Ethel and Paloma, are a true delight, a sign that they too are loved and showered with attention. I'm adding to my review after reading Marie R.'s review on 8/26/2012. There is NO WAY Jacque would ever cancel someone and high five the action on Facebook. It is unfortunate that someone can be so mean-spirited to get on Yelp and write something so false against one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Plus, Jacque doesn't run her business like that. She is truly professional and cares so much about people and animals. There is no way I would trust my little baby Lucy with someone who acted like this reviewer falsely claims. I hope anyone considering Chimama Jacque does not take Marie R.'s review into account for to miss out on having Jacque keep your dog is a disservice to your pooch, who will absolutely love their stay at the Dog Cottage. read more

We first found Jacque and her amazing Dog Cottage about two and half years ago for our sweet but somewhat anxious Sierra. She had boarded at another facility before and when we picked her up, she was a nervous wreck. After doing our "meet and greet," both Sierra and I were sold that Jacque and her Dog Cottage would be just perfect. Throughout her first stay (and all of her stays), we received so many wonderful pictures and videos of Sierra and all of her playmates that we felt good about our decision. Then when we picked her up and she didn't seem to want to come home, we knew it was the best place for her. Over the last two and half years, Sierra has boarded at least 2 dozen times at the Dog Cottage - sometimes for just a night and sometimes for two weeks. Jacques has always been professional, easy to work with, and brightens up Sierra's day when she sees her. The Dog Cottage's prices are reasonable and consistent with other boarding facilities but the service she provides is invaluable. Our family highly recommends Jacque and her amazing Dog Cottage. read more

This was my experience and it just happened this AM. I am still scratching my head about it. We booked Jacque for our small dog for a week in June when we would be out of state. My spouse met Jacque in person; took our dog to meet her; and liked Jacque who agreed to watch our dog. Jacque asked for a $100 deposit and I gave her a check from my checking account. All was well. Today, a week before we were to leave, my spouse received a text (not even a call) from Jacque saying (now get this) that she had walked to her Wells Fargo branch several times and tried to deposit the check, and it had been repeatedly refused for non-sufficient funds (NSF). I was shocked because the account has plenty of money and I have never in 40 years bounced a check. Not once. I tried calling Jacque, but her voicemail was full so I couldn't leave a message. I called Wells Fargo (which is also my bank) just to double-check and was told that my check had never been presented by anyone at any bank or at any WF branch. In fact, I pay for an alert if there is a problem with any of my three WF accounts and would have been notified had my check been refused for any reason, especially for NSF. We offered to immediately pay cash. Jacque declined. I offered to drive to Jacque's at her convenience and drive her (so she didn't have to walk) to her WF branch and present the check. She did not respond to that offer. And she had no explanation for why she allegedly kept trudging to the bank rather than calling the first time she supposedly had a problem with this check. My guess is that she booked someone else at a better price or for a longer period of time. That would be unethical, but I get that business is business. But to then create this fiction, this outright lie, about not being able to cash a small check is beyond the pale. Jacque is a flake; worse yet, she is a dishonest flake. If anyone wishes further details--and I can present the text exchanges I had with Jacque which show how ridiculously implausible her story is--I am happy to share them. Buyer beware. She won't dignify this review or defend herself = she has no defense and no dignity. She is a liar, plain and simple. She knows it; I know it; and now Yelp knows it. She took my check; never tried to deposit it; got a better deal with another customer; and then invented an NSF story to cover her tracks. But she is an inept liar. She now says the ATM rejected my check, but an ATM does not reject a check for NSF. This morning she told me she personally took it into the bank several times and a teller rejected it. She may be good with dogs and I see that she gets great reviews; we were excited about using her. But she lied and that is unacceptable. The truth is a defense to alleged slander and the truth is on my side. Update: It gets worse. She told us she had returned our check to us and today she texted an image of what looks to be a photoshopped pic with our check showing it could not be deposited at an ATM. It is undated. It does not say NSF. Nothing about the bank is identified. She originally told us it had been rejected by a teller several times. So, the BS meter is whipping around again. WF says the check was never presented; I believe them, not her. I don't know what her game is, but she keeps playing it. Bottom line: She accepted a reservation; and then later cancelled it without the courtesy of a phone call. She continues to engage in a series of lies, each of one which we have exposed. And she still hasn't returned our check. She is bad news. read more

Jacque just loves to spoil my 16 yr old Happy. Jacque is so nurturing and pampers her four-legged guests as if they were her own. I love the care and attention she gives to all her guests, especially the senior dogs that may need special care and love. Please be respectful as she is not a typical pet hotel and please follow directions. Dog cottage is more like grandma's house! :) read more

I'm the owner operator of an in-home boarding facility myself so you can imagine how picky I am when it comes to choosing where to board my own little Yorkie when the need arises. He's not an easy guy either. He is very anxious and suffers separation anxiety when away from me so this was going to be a tough one. We never go away if we can't take him with us. I'd heard such excellent things from clients that Jacque and I shared that I decided Dog Cottage was definitely the place I would try out. He did great at the meet and greet but I was still worried because soon he would be alone with Jacque and the other dogs and who knows how he would behave. When we came back for the real stay Windsor hopped out the car and ran straight to the gate. He went in and immediately started making himself at home. He barely said goodbye and I knew he wasn't going to miss me at all. This is usually a dog that screams when I leave him places!! For the rest of the stay I got so many lovely pictures and videos of my little man relaxing on his vacation and hanging with the other dogs just having a magnificent time. Jacque, without a doubt, has a very special touch with the dogs. I had not one single worry the entire time I was away and even had time to relax myself. When I came to collect him he almost didn't want to come home -that hurt a little :p but I was so relieved and I cannot recommend Jacque and her dog cottage enough. She spends every single minute with the dogs loving on them, entertaining them and making sure they're having a good time. She's a super lady with a fantastic spirit -but let me tell you - book early as she's very popular. Thank you Jacque for helping my Windsor relax for a bit. read more

Was it luck or fate? Approximately five years ago, I accepted a position that would require me to travel to Asia quarterly and on top of being apprehensive about leaving home, who would watch my baby to my standards for three weeks???? Well, enter Dog Cottage. The owner Jacque Evans is a delightful person to start and the atmosphere she creates for her babies (cause they are all her babies) is the best; the dogs socialized and are not kenneled up, nor separated at night and they have their own doggie menu! Its a little dog heaven at Dog Cottage, really, they have so much fun, with a great yard to run and play in and dog TV in the background. I am sure Ginger would give five paws up if she could, she is always so excited to arrive and last time my other pup Sherri jumped out of the back seat window as soon as I parked cause she knew she was at DC! No joke! This place is the best! read more

Perfect place for my dogs to stay when I go on vacation. It's such a peace of mind to leave them in a home environment where they are treated like family. My dogs are like children to me, and until I found Jacque, I could never go out of town without worrying about my dogs. They love the beautiful yard, pleasant indoors and they have a wonderful time. I never worry about how they are fed and cared for, it's the perfect place for my little ones to stay. read more

I have a 7 year old yorkie that I got when he was about 8 weeks old who is the absolute love of my life. I have never boarded him because my mother babysat, but when I moved to California that was out of the question being that she was still in Texas. I did a quick search for pet sitting services and Jacque's place came up. I decided to give it a shot because of all the great reviews and my goodness did she live up to all of them. Jacque was beyond fantastic. She welcomed my baby in with open arms and treated him as though he was her own. She posted pictures and videos and just gave me all the reassurance in the world that he was doing great. He even ate the first night that he was there! (Which he absolutely never did when I would leave him with anybody else). That let me know that she was wonderful and was doing something right. If any of you guys are looking for a warm, loving, safe place for your dogs, please don't look any further. Jacque's Dog Cottage is definitely the place to bring your babies. I for sure will be leaving my baby with her any time I am in town. :-) read more

Just who IS this "Marie R" and on what facts does she base her review? I also watch dogs and I wouldn't take mine anywhere BUT Dog Cottage when I'm away. I couldn't imagine any circumstance where Jacque would turn away a dog that's been booked. Every dog that stays at Dog Cottage is treated as family. Marie, we invite you to be truthful as people who are reading your review know of and use Dog Cottage, plus we also follow our dogs' stay on Facebook and we're hard-pressed to find any verification of the treatment you claim happened. read more

I have not used the Dog Cottage, I live too far away, but I know the owner and I know she takes amazing care of all her clients and their pets, she cares for the animals like they were her children, I can't believe anyone would have a bad word to say about her or her business. I stand behind her 100 percent! if you want excellent care for your loved pets, the Dog Cottage is the place to go!!!!! read more

Jacque is the absolute BEST. Hard to give up the worst kept secret in the SGV, because she is already so popular, but Jacque is an absolute GEM. She has watched our Reggie many times and he is always sad to leave. She takes such good care of him, and always makes him King for the Day. Her personalized care is truly amazing and we always go to her first when we need a dog sitter. read more

We used to take our dog to a woman who provides dog daycare and boarding services at her home. But, when we moved she was just too far away and we had to look for another option. We really didn't want to take our dog to a large facility with tons of dogs. We wanted to find a place where she could feel at home and really cared for by someone who will treat her like family. And that's what Jacque provides! We are so grateful for her. Her home and very large yard is perfect for our girl. Jacque is really someone you can trust with your dog. We highly recommend her. She has a good heart and you can tell that she sincerely loves her dogs and the ones she cares for. Thank you Jacque! read more

We love Dog Cottage! Chimama can be trusted! We are over protected moms of a chihuahua mix and were so nervous about leaving our baby for 9 days. Chimama put us at ease at our meet and greet. During our trip she posted pics and videos of our dog so we could see how she was doing. Our dog was so relaxed during her stay at the Dog Cottage. There is a beautiful, park like yard for the dogs to play in. All the dogs get such love and great care. We have already reserved space for the holidays. read more

Jacque is incredible! She takes such great care of my little girl. I am so happy to have found her. I have an almost 15 year old mini poodle who needs medications daily on top of a home made diet. The other reviews say it all. Jacque is the best! We wouldn't trust our dog with anyone else as much as we trust Jacque, not even our extended family! We can't write enough positive comments about Jacque and The Cottage. We've been entrusting Jacque (and noone else) with the care of our furry senior member of our family for over five years. Her lovely peaceful yard, attending to our senior's medication, pic and video posts of the current guests, and a genuine love for her guests, our furry buddy always comes home in good spirits after a wonderful stay with Jacque. A fantastic service at very reasonable prices. We highly recommend Jacque! read more

My family boarded our 2 mini doxies for a week with Jacque in early June. The dogs were in heaven, being spoiled the whole time. She clearly loves her job and it shows in the way she takes care of all the dogs. read more

Jacque is amazing: trustworthy, affectionate, compassionate, fair, and of course, fun! As soon as you enter, you just know you and your dogs are in a happy, loving environment. Our dogs love playing and exploring in her rambling backyard with her two sweet dogs, Paloma and Ethel, eating her homemade chicken broth, and soaking up all of her loving care. Whenever we drop our dogs off, their tails wag like crazy, and it's so reassuring to receive updates when we are away. We are repeat customers and big fans. I cannot recommend Jacque and her dog cottage highly enough. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRELIABLE!! With all the positive reviews, I thought I would give this place a try. After making arrangements for drop off, 4 hours before my scheduled trip, this lady texts me (she did not have the decency to call and claimed her phone was down) and says she changed her mind and to just leave my dog at the vet. I couldn't imagine what I could have said that would make her drop me like a hot potato. I was scrambling to find a sitter last minute to no avail and ended up canceling my trip. Later on, I saw a post on her Facebook page laughing at how she was able to make space for a wait-listed client who was one of her favorites! And they were high-fiving on FB!! While I appreciate having client preferences, this is totally unprofessional and uncalled for. So if you are a new client - STAY AWAY! You might just get dropped last minute in favor of a "favorite" long standing client. Unbelievable!!! read more

This is the best place ever! Jacquie is a wonderful person and dog sitter. My Shih-Tzu, Jerry was very happy here. I enjoyed receiving the daily updates and pictures in the Dog Cottage Facebook page. The Dog Cottage has a wonderful enclosed backyard which allows the pups to play in a serene and beautiful environment. There are lots of places for them to lay around and rest and make themselves at home. It was an overall wonderful experience for my dog and myself. I will definitely board my dog here in the future. Thank you, Jacquie! read more
