Good selection of items and friendly staff. Just wish that the women's and men's stores were located in the same area rather walking from different areas of the mall to get there. read more

This place is a hit or miss when it comes to being organized or a complete mess. I've walked in here and was surprised at how clean and tidy every rack was with new merchandise. However, the next time it looked like someone dropped a bomb with clothes and trash strewn about the aisles. The customer service is also mixed: some cashiers friendly and personable and others only interested in opening Macy accounts. If the prices weren't awesome for the cute clothing they sell, I wouldn't play Russian roulette with visiting here to see if the store was tidy or not. read more

My mom and I visited the Macy's men's shoe department today and purchased a pair of dress shoes. We were blown away by the service that Robert provided us. Robert deserves special recognition because of his professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to his job. I worked retail for 10 years and I understand how difficult it is to keep up a high level of service in the Bay Area. Thanks Robert. I hope you read this and know that you made our day. read more

Crazy amount of shoes, too many women buying them. Do your self a favor guys and stay home.

I visited the shoe department on a Sunday. Wow!! Chaos! The staff was overwhelmed I was so taken back by the messy environment i walked out without even trying anything on. I walked slowly through the entire area twice and not once was I asked if I needed help. I felt bad for the staff I guess macys can keep that department staffed. What I shame I wanted to spend my gift card there but ended up at the makeup counter (Lancôme) where a lovely lady helped me and I walked away with a better impression. So this review is for the shoe department. I hope they fix it soon. read more

Very poor customer service. Macy's has decent deals but sales people are rude and unhelpful. Will not be going back here. Women's clothing section was actually dirty, looked like hadn't been cleaned in days. Shopped at the fragrance counter, not impressed with the customer service. read more

I am writing this letter to inform you of the service and treatment I received this past weekend. I have been going to Macy's since I was a baby. Macy's would be a weekend outing for my mother and I, filled with happiness and laughter. For her, it was bringing up college memories of working at Macy's before it was Macy's, and for me it was a time to enjoy special one on one time with my mom. My fiance and I have traveled to many around the Bay area, with different events in mind, or even our weekend spurge with the extra spending money we have. Macy's has always been our go to store for all of his essentials and mine, as well as our favorites. For the last month we have been piecing his wardrobe together for the big day, as well as purchasing accessories (i.e. a tie) for my father to wear for the wedding. As a pregnant bride, I am often consumed with how people will react to my joyful response when asked the occasion. Luckily, I have been blessed with a majority of sweet responses. Last weekend as we were trying to wrap up our last minute shopping, I was extremely displeased and hurt at the service my fiance and I were given, and how we were being treated. We often run up and downstairs to make sure we end up with one time that we have to stand in line and pay. And after already purchasing a pair of Levis from upstairs we did not want to wait in line more than one last time. We walked upstairs to look for a pair of shoes, then back down to find my father's tie. We had hoped that we would be able to pay and be out and on to our other last minute plans for the wedding. When ringing up, we had the shoes with the price clip, as there was a discrepancy in the price on the scanner. We told the lady that we didn't mind the indent in the shoe from the clip and wouldn't mind buying them without a box. At first when the lady tried to make me ring up the shoes separate from the tie I didn't understand. She then rang the shoes and explained that the price on her computer came up different than the tag. I felt accused and she began to be rude. She insisted on not having the shoes on her account/commission. We quickly deflated the situation by telling her to just ring up the tie and we would resolve it ourselves upstairs in the shoe department, as that's where they came from. When we got back upstairs we presented the lady in the shoe department with the shoes and asked for the same size, but for a pair in the box. She as well rang up the shoes at the higher price. I informed her that the shoes were sitting there with that tag and that I would like to be offered the price I had seen. She quickly pulled the tag off the shoes and threw it in her bin. She started to get frustrated with me, and was also accusing us of false pricing, saying that "someone" must've put the price clip on there, and that it wasn't the true price. That she would call her manager and security supervisor after to make sure she would not get fired. She was extremely rude and was attempting to get us in trouble for something we had not done. I would not sit and argue a price with someone, unless i felt it was right. I was in no way scamming her, or looking to get a price that was not visually offered. The price of 39.99 had been on those shoes for 3 weeks, as we had seen them prior to our arrival that day and came back to get the shoes. I did not like the atmosphere or the constant accusations from two of the sales associates. My fiance and I had come in our relaxed gym attire and we both have tattoos. I felt singled out and embarrassed that I was being monitored and accused of being cheap and sneaky in a store I have credit with, and have gone to for all of my life. For an item for the most special day of my life, I will look down at those shoes and remember how that day made me feel. As you can see, we did nothing wrong but were accused on 2 occasions, and partially threatened. We did have to return on Monday, to pick up his suit as it was being tailored at Macy's, but made for a very uncomfortable trip. The shorts we had purchased over the weekend had the sensor still attached. Instead of feeling confident that the sales associates would understand and kindly remove the sensor, we spent 30 mins prior searching for the receipt, as to ensure they wouldn't accuse us of something else. If we hadn't already brought his suit to Macy's for tailoring, or had matching items purchased, and needed those exact shoes and tieI don't feel that I would've completed my purchase. I would have left, as we do not deserve that kind of treatment as a valued customer. I will not be returning to Macy's as soon as I would've liked to, as I do not feel respected there. Never have I once felt the ways I have this past week. read more

I came in two days ago and all I got was bad customer service. When I was asking an associate about the return policy she told the next customer to come up so she can ring them up- this was in the Michael Kors section. I went to the shoe department and I asked two managers about the return policy and they stated I can get it back in cash. When I came to the register she not only was in a rush to go on her lunch she also gave me attitude. She gave me the refund back on a gift card. Literally I have to go back and talk to the store manager about getting my cash refund. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! read more

Shopping here on Saturday, and a lady in the Juniors/Shoe section was shopping with a live full grown white Parrot on her shoulder? It sounds completely ridiculous, but true. I would have thought a Macy's representative would have suggested this was not acceptable, but no one approached her. read more

Sabrina is a definite asset to this company. I visited the men's department to check out their suits. I haven't purchased a suit for 15 years. I was wondering around with only a slight idea of what I wanted. After only 5-6 mins Sabrina acknowledged me with a genuine smile and some much needed advice in regards to my possible suit purchase. Well at this point I just made up my mind to purchase a suit today, with her help. She explained it would be best for me to purchase suit separates and walked me over and showed me 4 different choices she recommends and explained with detail and perfect clarity What I should look for. I found the absolute perfect suit for a screaming deal. Oh did I mention she was working the department mostly by her self, with a smile the whole time. I can't express how much I appreciate it when I encounter a employee of a establishment I visit truly care about their job!!! Thanks Sabrina you have earned Macy's a new customer. read more

Regarding the perfume/fragrance department: Nadia is very knowledgeable about all the fragrances and provides great customer service every time I come in. She never pressures me and know my tastes very well after a small chat. She's a great asset to Macy's. If you're looking for a new fragrance, talk to her. She knows all about different perfume types and notes. 10 stars! read more

This place is a mess!! We went to get shoes and the entire place looked like a typhoon hit. It was a Tuesday afternoon! Not like it's super busy! My sister found a pair of shoes she liked and it seemed like nobody was around anywhere to help. We finally found a girl who worked there and she awkwardly said "um, I don't work in shoes, sorry" (she was in the shoe department, so where did she work?) we wandered around a bit and everyone seemed like they were looking for someone too. We finally found another lady nearby and she told us (with an attitude) "they'll help you over there!" We said where? We were still in the shoe department! She says with an attitude again "they'll help you there...go!" Like super rude. My sister threw the shoes down and said "well, forget it then" the lady just walked away without trying to help or solve anything. We left. Wish I could give this place zero stars!!!! Completely unacceptable and rude!!! read more

I do like Macy's for its suprisingly good discounts & the exclusive Thalia Sodi clothing. I once found a designer dress of my favourite kind reduced from almost $100 to less than $20 & sometimes you get a random discount added at the till. But the most useful section for me - the highest floor with women's clearance & underwear - takes a long time to search through. Clothes end up on the floor due to too many being stuffed onto rails. And the whole mall is like a maternity hospital for people with triplets, so this Macys always has kids that scream extremely loud the whole time you are shopping but Macys can't change that. I was looking in rails that said Extra Small but I kept finding clothes that were nice but size XL or M. If clothes are not arranged by size then I wish that there was a way to find clothes by brand at least like different colourd hangers or dividers. There was a sign on some rails saying the name of a brand but there were 4 different brands mixed up. So many of the dresses or top straps get tangled up together that it becomes too bothersome to keep looking. And a personal nuisance - it bugs me that all the bras are $38, or $40 or more. I wish there was a range from simple non-luxury designer kinds to expensive famous designer, but the cheapest ones here are DKNY! read more

9 times out of 10 I usually find what I'm looking for here. I usually hit up their home goods department on the 3rd floor and I've never been disappointed with their selection or prices. It's clean & organized so it's easy to hit them up for what I need and get out. The only thing with the 3rd floor is that the isles are sort of narrow for a double tandem stroller, so if you have one, shop with caution or you'll be picking up things that fall off their displays too. read more

Alie at Urban Decay was so extremely helpful for my holiday shopping experience! I needed a lot of help in picking out gift ideas, and she went above and beyond to help me fill my shopping bag! I've been meaning to write this review for a bit. This Macy's store has the best shoe department employees! Ever since I joined Yelp, I've been thinking about writing this review, but kept forgetting once I was on the site. Recently, I was in this store and I was just browsing around and they were having a huge sale. I had found a cute pair of Nine West heels and then I happened upon this brown pair of Kenneth Cole boots. I gave both shoes to a salesperson named Maggie or Margie (for the life of me I can't remember right now, but it was one of those). She went to the back for my selections and came back with the Nine West pair and imformed me she was having trouble locating the other boot(these were on sale, so you know how they put one out and bring you the other one). She was going to keep looking. My stepmom was trying on shoes as well, so it was no big deal to wait. Once we were done, she still hadn't found the shoe, but she asked for my phone number and said she would continue to look and call us while we were shopping if she found it. We shopped for a bit longer and hadn't heard from her, so we headed home. Just as I pulled in my driveway, she called....she had found the mate!!! Now, I wasn't about to turn around and drive back the same day, so I asked her if she could hold it for me. She put it aside, gave me her schedule for the next day and when I went in she had them ready and waiting!!! What great service! In my experience, most salespeople would have looked while you were there, but once you left, the search would be over. So glad she was not like that. All in all, I find that this Macy's shoe department consistently has good service. The only complaint I have ever had here is that sometimes when they are having a big sale, they might not have enough employees working, but the ones who are usually are quite helpful and friendly. read more

Excellent customer service!! Especially Allan in Men's Shoes! If I buy any more shoes from him, I'm going to have to marry him!

Yes I know it is a holiday weekend (meaning sale) but this store is a mess! The employee does not seem to even care to organize. I'm shopping my teenage son's suit but can't even get an attention to find anything. Clothes are hung on the wrong size hangers and brands are all mixed up. I will check the size we need and buy online. I'm not wii g to pay a penny to a store like this. read more

Always clean, friendly and organized. Love their sales on men's fashion. Always friendly customer service in their men's dept. They could work on getting more organized at their kid's dept which is located on the lower level and unlike the Men's dept, they never ask you if you need help. Their home store is ok, but you don't get much help in this dept either. Still love this location and their one day sale. read more

This update is for Men's Suits Dept. The associate who helped us was Ken, and he did a great job in finding me a suit at a reasonable price. Ken showed true professional attitude and had knowledge of what I was looking for. Thanx! read more

Update to my horrible review of Macy's. Went there to do a simple exchange. Same everything, just different size. Idiot at the cash register couldn't figure it out. Kept scanning the tags. Told me that the computer wasn't taking it. Then I asked him if he could find someone who knew how to do it, or a supervisor. I was visibly upset at this point. Maybe 10 minutes of waiting. Finally he was able to do it. Ugh. read more

Talk about shady. I selected a pair of earrings to look at and took them out of the box so I could see the back. I noticed that the price was $250 on the tag attached to the earring. The box inserted they were attached to said $300. The salesperson took a moment to ring them up. These were supposed to be 50% off the price came out to $150. What just happens there? I tried to show her the price but noticed she had covered up the $250 price. Of course I questioned her and she disagreed and had to ask three others what price to use. Of course they all said to honor the lower price. Honestly. Do they work on commission? Of course she rang it up at the higher price them marked it down. If I ever return I will never work with this salesperson again. I only wish I'd taken her name down. read more

I went into the childrens dept. to find a few items for my brothers new born. They had a good amount of items , some clearance items were all over the place, but i know customers throw crap around like crazy. I was helped by a young man and girl, they helped me select colors and recommended me to check out a few specific spots. I greatly appreciated their help, however there were about 3-4 girls(employees) on the girls side who i saw weren't doing much and kept chatting away. While these two worked hard, which I think the managers should look into. It's just something that bothered me that whole day, i walked by them just to get at leas one of their names, brianna, maybe? Some employees workng harder then the others, so unfair, and they did not even greet me once because they were too busy talking to eachother. read more

If I could give one star, I would. I walked into Macy's to return a defective cashmere sweater purchased on 12/2/19 as a gift. My mom wore it one time and it was awful how much it would pill on the arms. We walked into Macy's and to the nearest counter with an employee. As we walked up, there were two employees. I explained the situation, had my credit card out I used to purchase it with and had the emailed receipt with order number ready for the return. A man named Monasher (not sure on spelling) immediately started to interject the other worker helping me. He tried saying I couldn't return it, that the policy changed and couldn't return it. I told him it was defective though but he insisted on not returning it without the tag. He wouldn't listen at all and kept interrupting me. So I asked him if he bought the jacket he was wearing and went to wear it, he would take the tag off... but if he wore it one time and had no intent on returning it so he would likely get rid of the tag... how is it his fault if he didn't know it would have been defective. He said he didn't care. I asked him so I'm stuck with a defective sweater. He said "yes, you are." I googled the Macy's policy right then and told him I'm wishing the return policy aside from it being defective and that I had the receipt. He told the woman at the counter to not do anything so I said I would go to customer service. At customer service, a woman named Yolanda helped us. Monasher came to the counter and was arguing with Yolanda when she was trying to help him. She tried explaining how he could locate the item and she asked him if he followed through with looking. He proceeded to tell her she was wrong and that if she called a manager, they would tell her too. Yolanda stated she has worked there 20 years. He kept arguing when he walked off and mistreated Yolanda too. Once Yolanda looked up the order number and verified the information, she even stated I was within the return policy aside from it being defective. Monasher came back trying to argue with Yolanda yet again! Yolanda tried saying she was trying to help him but he kept arguing. Needless to say, I have shopped at Macy's enough to know that Monasher is just difficult and not good at customer service. read more

They have their very own COACH section and have a separate store for men's and women's. I've always bought great accessories as presents at Macy's for Christmas because they're decently priced. They have J.Lo, Betsey Johnson, Guess, Kenneth Cole, Lucky and more. Recently I bought a pair of earrings for a beautiful friend, made by Guess and they were ony $15. The young gal behind the counter was probably under 21 and was soo tired working these holiday shifts but she still managed to smile and be happy. And she reminded me of Kelly Clarkson. read more

Wow they are so slammed with customers and one persin at the register? On Christmas weekend? Nuts.

I had a rather pleasant experience today at Macy's Pleasanton. I got here at around 9pm at night to shop the final two hours of Macy's "1 day sale". I went to another Macy's today, but the line was too long and they ran out of the promotional items that came with this dining set (explains why there were so many left). I had purchased an item last week during Friends and Family at Macy's. This week, the item's listed price was less AND I had a $15 off $40 coupon. I was ready to lug the super heavy item out of my trunk if I had to in order get around $11 dollars back plus the bonus gift (which retails for $22). Call me frugal, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't get both back. Ready to battle with Macy's on this, a nice sales associate name Kathryn from 3rd floor home had asked me if I needed any help. At first, I was going to say no because my grand plan was to buy the item with the bonus gift this week and simply return the old item since I haven't used it and it was sitting in the same box and bag that I had bought last weekend. I asked and explained my case to her and she was very helpful and I didn't have to lug the heavy set item from my trunk and up 3 floors. Greatly appreciated that and I got the 4 mugs. I decided to buy a few other things tonight and definitely had Kathryn help me with my purchase. I hope she get's an outstanding service award for saving my torture. My mother and I walked out of Macy's tonight (almost near 11pm) with 2 chili pots in hand and 2 other pieces of prep cookware for $44.95 including tax. A very happy girl indeed. PS. I also salivated on the additional 40% Hotel Collection bedding that was on sale in the clearance section, but stopped myself because I was out of coupons. read more

I just wanted to comment on the customer service. I recently purchased a coach purse online and absolutely hated the color! If I'm in the area, I usually swing by as this Macy's always seem to have my size in whatever I'm looking for. They also have a decent selection of clothes in the Impulse section. For the most part, my shopping experience here (Men's Department) has been pretty good. This store is pretty well stocked and has friendly employees. The only reason they are getting 4 stars is because I have had to deal with the sensors being left on on a few different occasions. There is nothing more embarrassing and irritating than walking out of Macy's with your bag of clothes and walking into Nordstrom's and the alarm goes off. Then having to do the "walk of shame" across the mall back to Macy to have the sensor removed. I'm not sure what the point of having the sensors is if your own store's alarm doesn't go off. read more

How could I have not written a review of this store yet??? It is among my favorites! They must have a different sale every week, everytime I go in there is a sale.... YAY! This is especially important because I'm a SUCKER for a sale! I always say, it is not about how much you spend, but about how much you save! :) Plus the staff here have been consistently firendly and helpful! Unlike Nordys, sorry but sometimes I just want a pair of shoes without the tude! I'm surprised that so many people still consider Macys so overpriced, the reality is they just have some higher end lines, but they really tend to have mostly high quality affordable items (then you add the sale BOO YAH BARGAIN!) read more
