Macy's is Macy's. Mediocre return policy, mediocre customer service. I will give them props that when they have a sale, they have a SALE. So if you play your cards right, you can usually get a great deal on some cute stuff. Their IMPULSE department is usually excluded from all the promotional coupons out there, but not always. There usually is some pre-sale promotion where they will let you buy IMPULSE at a discount. I'm a fan for some things, not a fan of other things they carry. The inconsistency stresses me out a bit, but all in all, it's a-ok. read more

Oh, Macys! How I once loved you over the years....40 years to be exact. You were the first credit card I ever got. I have used you diligently and paid you off every month since 1978. With brick and mortar slowly dying, you would think you would want to retain customers like me. I had two bad experiences this week that makes me rethink our relationship. I admit i do a considerable amount of online shopping. It is usually simple to take something back that doesn't fit. This past week I had one sweater for myself and two for my husband to take back. I waited in line for almost 30 minutes only to be told I would have to take my husband's items to the Men's Store. Really? Aren't you all the same company? So I trek over to the Men's store for my return and stop in the luggage department to check out some new luggage. I actually had the opportunity to talk to the Delsey rep. He gave me great information on their luggage so I was going to wait for the weekend when they would be on sale. I see all Delsey is on sale, with the exception of the one I wanted. I had seen the item on sale at Bloomingdale's when I was online shopping but decided to wait and give Macy's my business. As I approached the luggage area, I asked a gentleman in the men's department if they match online prices. He said they will match only Macy's online prices. (Does that make any sense?) Of course they match their own online pricing...who doesn't do that. So I left your store, disgruntled as can be that I wasted so much time when I could have had the item delivered to my doorstep at a much lower price. When I got home, I proceeded to place my order through Bloomie's at a much lower price. I think I have a new best friend! read more

the reason i give one star is for the sales (bobbie) working at nyx professional brand. first she was just standing at the counter taking with another sales associate no one willing to come and ask if i need help then i was looking up at the product my self to find the eye liner color i want to buy, then she just came up to me and didn't even bother to ask if i need anything, she just told me with the attitude tone voice (dont open the package) and of course i already knew there are some tester there, i just can't find the product i wanted. i told her as a customer sales she has a very bad attitude and rude, then she says you can tell my manager i dont care! if you are not happy with your job then quit i am pretty sure theres lots of people need a job nowadays!! macy's hired and paying you to help them make sells and get more customers but not to be rude to the customers! i was gonna purchased stuffs today but with her attitude i left and decided not to go back!! she really needs customer service training or the manager should talk to her! (dont know why they need 2 people to work but no one willing to assist the customers instead they just standing at the cashier counter chit chat and ignore the customers) read more

My husband bought me a tag watch for Mother's Day (he's pretty awesome). Catherine sized it, polished it and apparently never notice the hands weren't working (I was too distracted by the diamonds). Purchased at 6:42, sized at 6:50 and that's where the hands remained. Can't decide if she knew considering she said, "make sure you like it because once I resize it there's no going back." They don't return resized tag watches and a new battery takes 12 weeks, as she suspiciously explained to us. The worst part is that I quickly called customer service at 7:16 and Macy's.com can't email me to verify the time I called (they allege they don't have the capabilities to email customers), and can't put my inquiry into the system. They just said I will have to call the store tomorrow when they open. Managers don't pick up during operational hours and despite Macy's.coms attempt they do not pick up nor (and I don't believe this either) have a number whereby a manager does pick up after hours. Stick with Nordstrom for impeccable customer service. For now I will hope they resolve this tomorrow instead of having to wait 12 weeks for my Mother's Day watch read more

I grew up a Macy's Brat, literally. My Mom worked in the "tiger's" shop the first, part of her 18 year career there. Then she moved into customer service, when they ACTUALLY had a customer service department, but this was at Sun Valley Mall, where I grew up in rural Concord. Back in the day.... She finally quit, when they went Federated.. And quit having customer service And quit giving cash bak on returns instead of cash cards.... Anyway. They do have some great deals now, maybe because of the economy, etc. As per my last visit... I had mixed service. I had a jewelery lady, who refused to help me with a promotion dress issue, as it was NOT HER DEPARTMENT. Nor did she seak English very well. Nor was she busy... just standing there.. Would have reported her to customer service, HAD they that department upstairs anymore! Then, in the Jrs. depo that we were in, the sales associate, whom also, didn't speak the best English, refused to call another store on our behalf for a $150.00 short, Jessica McClintock dress, for other sizes, and passed us off. WOW! So we ended up with 2 girls that helped us. The deal WAS not done by the time that it WAS time for one of them to go on break and then return, like 30 minutes later. I have to say, I give them both major cudos, for making those calls, along with me making calls, on the printed list of who had THE dress, and co-ordinating the sale. And YES! It was THE LAST store on the LIST to have the right size, etc. And, mind you, neither of them, got compensated for the sale, as the sale was from, bum fuck remote LA or Vegas, I forget! We paid an extra $26 to get it here asap, and it came packaged like Christmas. All ivory and buttersotch, to match my daughter. Shoes came in a similer matter, w/ a discount from p-town! So 5 stars for the 2 associates who DID help us. Negative 10 for the two that didn't. And when I DID get thru to the other stores, which was RARE, 3 stars. Over-all this aspect was like 1 star, as it was VERY hit and miss getting thru, and then follow up. LIKE pulling teeth, without anesethesia.. read more

Used LaTonda Strong as My Stylist to find a wedding dress for me (older in age, young in heart.). I have been shopping all wrong! LaTonda pulled together options in my size, and I quickly found my PERFECT dress through her. She also found the perfect, lacy yet elegant, wedding night attire. I am so grateful for her sense of style and help. Afterwards, we celebrated with sparkling juice and she rung me up...no standing in line, nothing. Just special. Love, Love, LOVE My Stylist service. Unfortunately Macy's has added yet another barrier to providing customer service. I buy most of my product on-line as their store in the East Bay area takes 30 minutes to drive to and has very limited selection. I returned some goods but did not have any receipt available. They gave me a lower price than I paid for it (I actually understand this as I was not able to show my receipt). They then sent me a certificate to use for shopping, which again I fully can accept. What I cannot accept is they refuse to let you use it on-line despite this being the only viable way to shop at Macy's. They literally don't carry stock in standard size products that I am looking to buy. Not to mention spending 20% of the value of the certificate in gasoline to get there and an hour of my time. Not the place to shop for Christmas or anytime, unfortunately. They used to be so good, perhaps they should follow the Nordstrom's approach here and just close their store. Then they would actually have to commit to a strong on-line capability. read more

Whenever I go shopping by myself I know exactly what Im going to get, where it's located and how much it costs. Came here the day after Black Friday with the intent to by some goofy kids hats for our god kids- I started my day early with a game plan with doing errands, go to Kohls and then rush over to Macys. I get to Macy's at 7:45am - WHAT! NOT OPEN! Back to my opening sentence...... (I forgot to check what time they open! ) They opened at 8am, full speed got the hats, paid for them.....done. Mission accomplished. Macy's- Good sales, helpful staff, clean & organized store. READ their coupons for they do not apply to "ALL" merchandise, particularly brand name items read more

Just a complete crap show. Terrible service, slow to no where to check out. The only department that seems staffed is cosmetics. Holiday shopping with the misses is the only reason I would be in this store, in this mall, and do so with common sense in tact! I can't really complain about Macy's. I heard the lady at the register say to another customer "Well, If I knew you better I'd give you a hug." So I approached her and said "Well, if you knew me better you'd give me a hug!" Next thing I know she comes from behind the register and gave me a hug! Talk about a lift in your step! In spite of the screaming children, rude customers (I've never seen so many piles of clothes thrown on the floor...even in a thrift store!), massive lines, and maze of products, all in all, Macy's is fine. I didn't find anything for me, but who cares? This missus was happy and that is what matters. read more

I am very happy and excited to give all five stars to Claudia who works in petites department in Macys Pleasanton Stoneridge Mall. She was extremely helpful and her pleasant nature made it possible for us to ask her questions about the particular style we were looking for my mom. Claudia picked enough selection of clothes for us that we were able to buy couple of styles. She always answered with a smile. Her knowledge of her department was clearly there. I was losing my heart that I will go empty handed. But With Claudia's help it turned out to be a different experience. Me and my mom were very happy with our shopping. I request her manager to please give Claudia highest recognition in the store. Its because of Claudia I will be very motivated to come back and shop here. read more

So I make the request. they DO NOT send me the proof. Ive called and left FIVE (5) messages for manager attempting to inquire what to do next, but in the meantime, their watch dept calls me and very rudely reminds me my watch has been there waiting, SIX WEEKS now! Macy's jewelry department needs to get it together asap. 1st: I bought a ring but had to leave it because I bought it pre-sale so I had to wait til it was the actual sale days to get it. When I came to pick it up, they couldn't find it.. They lost it. It didn't matter anyway because I decided to return it and get something else. 2 months later, I get a call saying I never picked up the ring. Wait what? I thought you lost it? & why are you calling me 2 months later? 2nd: The ring I decided in the end had to be shipped to my house. Not only did it take a month to receive, UPS lost it for awhile and when contacting Macy's, they were no help. 2 months later, they emailed me apologizing for never getting the ring. HUH! Do they not keep track of what's going on!? & Why do they take sooooooo long to contact you!? Macy's customer service SUCKS! read more

Seems like they really don't care about their customers these days in this location. Every floor has one or two fitting rooms closed on the weekends. There is no cashier anywhere and lines are very long with only 1 person assisting customers. I was shopping at Macy's on December 18, 2020 at approx. 1600hrs- 1730hrs. I had a very unpleasant shopping experience as I immediately got racially profiled by the whole security team. I am a black female who has 10+ years in security, public safety and training in law enforcement. I observed that I was being targeted by security for unknown reasons. The only reason I can think of is because I was a black female buying over $900 worth of merchandise debit card only. I was standing in the checkout line when a black security officer started observing me from the distance meanwhile another black security officer followed me, walked past me looked into my shopping bags visually inspected them, then looked me up and down from head to toe suspiciously. Now I have been in Public Safety long enough to know when I am being suspected for something. However, they had nothing to go on from my understanding. There were no elements to any crime. No reasonable suspicion or probable cause. They had no reason to suspect me. I was by myself. I paid for all my things. I was nice to the cashier. I spent a lot of money just for an unpleasant experience. It's offensive to me that I was getting indirectly accused of doing something wrong. It made for a very unpleasant experience at Macy's. It use to be my favorite store. It was a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. Guests around me obviously knew I was being suspected of something. I had visitors in the store start to turn their attention towards me in what seemed like a suspicious manner, because they probably noticed I was being watched. This is Unacceptable. read more

The Stoneridge mall customer service is TERRIBLE!!! I placed an online order for curbside pickup and waited 45 mins. to an hour and no one showed up. I called the number listed in the parking stall and a lady at another department kept picking up saying you need to talk to the other department. This continued 3 times I called. I went into the store twice and informed the customer service personnel about the order and waited in the car again for 20 minutes and went in again spoke to the manager and waited again another 30 mins. Curbside pickup doesn't exist at macy's pleasanton, CA, no commitment to what they claim. I called main Customer service and talked to a manager called Chris who never bothered to send me an email or a survey about my experience as I had requested. I am not going to shop Macy's for a while at least. Wish there were negative stars to represent the experience. read more

Michael McLean, one of the staff of the Macy's shoe department., saw my review and wrote me a very considerate message in which his passion about shoes and great customer service were extremely evident. Michael definitely deserves 5 stars, and I hope that Macy's realizes what a treasure they have with him on their team. It's rare to find someone with such commitment who is also so courteous. I can't give Macy's five stars, since I didn't actually find shoes that I wanted, but I'm very impressed with the dedication of their employees, and can't wait to give shopping here another shot! read more

My online pickup got canceled BEFORE the 7 day window to pick it up. I've been trying for hours to get ahold of someone at the Stoneridge store without any luck. When I received my cancellation order, I was dumbfounded by the fact it said I did not pick up my order by December 4th, even though today is December 1st. The item is sold out online and $50 more everywhere else it's available. Similar to another review, I'm convinced an employee did this to purposefully get the item for him/herself. When I called the 1-800 number and spoke to a rep, she said that online orders have a 5-7 day window to be picked up, which also makes no sense! Incredibly disappointed in the Stoneridge Store and Macy's in general. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I went to Macy's tonight.. and I've been looking at several places for this certain wedge shoe... Anyway, I was shocked at how friendly and attentive the Macy's Women's Shoe Department was. It was amazing.... I've never had service like that before. I was asked/greeted by 3 different people while I was there... There was one lady thought( we'll call her "4th employee") that was there who didn't bother to say hi, and I didn't even know if she worked there. When I finally did need help with something, she kinda shuffled around the floor and didn't act like she wanted to help me... oh well. The other 3 employees though were awesome-enough to override her crappyness =) Way-to-go Macy's shoe department!! Thanks for the great service! read more

*DISCLAIMER* REVIEW ONLY FOR THE SHOE DEPT.... Yah they "normally" have a good selection of shoes..but upon coming off one of the greatest sales,Labor Day. The shoe department looked like Ross. Glad I went in the evening cause, I would've been pissed fighting and looking for shoes. The funny thing of it is...I found a shoe that I wanted but the matching pair was missing. Do you think that any associate tried to help me find it...NO!! :( BUT I was able to get someone to get me a listing of what stores had the shoe in stock. Meanwhile I told them to hold the one shoe in the event it appeared while shutting downd the store and to call me. Moving forward...called the next day. Spoke to a gentleman Vic who said that the one shoe I did put on hold was no where to be found, and that he was going to look for it and call me..... I'm still waiting on a call back to even say that he was unable to find it. so much for the OUTSTANDING customer service they try to strive for. read more

This Macy's never let's me down. Besides the Macy's in San Jose and San Francisco this is hands down one of the best in the bay. They have everything you could think of (Chanel, Laura Mercier, origins, a new MAC counter too). I was appalled by what happened today. My husband and I were already in Macy's and walked passed a door where two guys were walking in. As we were walking passed them, we also walked by a Macy's security guard. Right away, I heard him talking on his radio saying "1031 on two guys that just walked in." Are you kidding me? They just walked in! My husband and I decided to look at the clothes in one corner. At the corner of my eye, I saw that the security guard was slowly making his way towards us without making it so obvious. We decided to just leave and when I turned back, he was right at the corner where we were. I've never felt so insulted and uncomfortable in my life. We won't be shopping there anymore. read more

Terrible customer service in the shoes and junior departments. I came to purchase and make returns and was very dissatisfied during the holiday season that returns are handled at a separate station. Whatever you DO NOT BUY A FINE WATCH FROM MACYS. I attempted to bring my Tag Heuer in for warranty repairs since they are an authorized retailer. They did not want to accept my watch because I did not buy it from them. Macys also sends the watches to their own repair center instead of the actual manufacturer! Because of this they said they would charge me shipping and handling even if I didn't want the work performed. I ended up taking my watch upstairs to Fred Meyer jewelers just outside Macys. Customer service both on the phone, online and in store has been a little better lately. I just can't get over the fact that only some stores price match with their own online store? Really? To make matters worse, I re-opened my account under a joint account with my mom's name on it so they made two accounts in my name. So when I decided I'd be smart and buy a pair of really expensive boots that were on sale online (they didn't carry my size online) but not in the store (I had the right size shipped to me from another store but the manager would not match the online sale price) and then exchange them for the sale price online and add my gift card to the total is when the trouble started to happen. They ended up crediting the total to one account. Their automatic scanning system apparently doesn't track which account on which it was bought. So now, I'm basically going to have to pay more up front and then have a check mailed back to me. Rargh. Too bad I really wanted these boots and I got them at a good price with a gift card or I probably would've just returned them, went to Nordstrom where they do match competitor's prices and carried my size in the store and saved myself the headache. The deal was way too good for me to pass up. Lesson learned the hard way. I'm going to have to close one of the accounts once I pay off this next month's bill to save myself a headache in the future. The Star Rewards and extra sales though are what tend to get me back in here. It's a total Love/Hate relationship like Katherine F says. It's hit or miss. read more

Service till sucks. I bought a purse and it's falling apart after 3 months. I really like it so I wanted to exchange. Her solution was for me to buy a new one and have it delivered, at a higher cost than I previously paid. Forget it. Hey Debbie in first floor mens department. Don't pull me out of line from another department to tell me your open and then when we get to your register make me wait while you ring out the lady that was standing there when we arrived. Then when you finally get to me don't ask me to go get a shirt that is missing a tag... Did you miss the double stroller lady these things are not easy to navigate through the crowded lines at Macy's. Thank goodness my husband was not as offended as I was and did not mind getting the shirt. Then when I give you my death look don't be offended that you got it. Your customer service skills suck! I LOVE Macy's, especially at Stoneridge! They have the best Macy's stores in the East Bay. The only thing they're missing is a Mac counter inside.
