I've been to the Bare Minerals counter at this Macy's twice, and both times have received excellent customer service, and, perhaps more important, good advice on choosing products. They always throw in samples. Last time, I received a makeup case and a pretty (and useful) eye shadow trio, plus mascara and skin-care samples. Nice! They know how to help me stretch my makeup money! I've not made purchases in other departments, but I've noticed that the sales staff is friendly and courteous and makes a point of greeting people. The Bare Minerals counter is right near the mall-side entrance under a big skylight, so there is plenty of natural light. This Macy's is not as popular as other Macy's I usually shop at. I enjoy it because the store is less crowded, clean, and more organized. The shelves are neatly arranged and there is a decent amount of sale items to choose from. Prices are reasonable, and they carry some brands that other Macy's may not have. The only complaint I have is the dressing rooms for the Junior's department were full of discarded clothes. Staff could have done a better job of maintaining the fitting room areas. Overall I had a pleasant experience and would be willing to shop there again. read more

Frustrating! I'm not normally a Macy's customer and after this experience, I don't want to be! I waited in a line in the women's dept (downstairs) to return some items that I got as a gift, and after 15 minutes, the cashier inspects the items and tells me I have to return them to the petite dept upstairs. So I go upstairs to find the petite department only...there is no register there. So I go to the coat area and after another 10 minute wait, I am able to return the items. I've come to realize that the first cashier probably could have returned the items for me but did not want to. I know returns are not fun but come on now, it's your job! read more

This Macy's is smaller than most and the men's and women's sections are on opposite sides of the mall, but parking is great, selections for what I like is great and they always have great items on the clearance rack. This is for their wedding registry. I admit that at first, our experience wasn't the best, but I emailed the store, and they rectified everything. Loretta from Wedding Registry contacted us and we made an appointment to come in to meet with her. Everything was great, and she was so sweet and nice. She gave us the "guns" to point at items and add them to our registry, and we were on our own for a while. She came in to check on us and made sure we had enough battery power to keep going. We really enjoyed our time and appreciated that management corrected our first experience (not with Loretta). read more

I used to shop exclusively Macy's for my plus size tops. I would typically order 10 to 12 items at a time because I couldn't decide from all the great merchandise. But for the past year and a half I occasionally browse all 22 or so screens just to check to see if maybe the old buyers have come back, but alas, no. Screen after screen offers perfectly hideous tops. T-shirts with Scooby-Doo and equally horrible choices all in a row. Honestly, if you told me browse the screens and we'll give you your choice of tops for free I'd be unable to come up with even one that I like. Please bring back the great tops you used to have. Please tell your buyers that plus size women love the same beautiful clothes that thin people like, just a little fuller and longer. Plus size shouldn't equal dowdy but apparently it does at Macy's. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER experience at the Jewelry department at this Macys! The older woman who attended me did not want to help me, she gave me incredibly horrible attitude, looked at me like I was too broke to buy fine jewelry and to make things worse, she walked out half way through helping me! I couldn't believe that half way through helping me she just put the jewelry back and left! Instead of leaving I just stood there for 10 mins bc I wanted to check out more than 1 piece of jewelry. She noticed I was still standing around so she came back and asked me what I wanted. I told her I didn't want her helping me and that I wanted to wait for the other lady. She all of a sudden changed her demeanor and said "oh no no worries I can help" and I said "No way, Im waiting for someone else to help me". I went to Macy's men's store for a Christmas gift for my husband. I found a great polo shirt by Tommy Bahama on sale for $59 (down from $99); however, it was the wrong size. On the same rack, I found different colors of the exact same shirt so I grabbed two and went to pay for them. They rang up at $99 each and I immediately let the clerk know that they were marked down to $59. He followed me to the rack but said the ones I picked up were not on sale because they were a different color...even though they were the exact same shirt, on the same rack...just a different hue. Then he explained that Macy's is only an umbrella under which stores sell their wares, and that Tommy Bahama determines the cost so Macy's cannot change the marked up ones to match the exact same shirts on the same rack that were less. I had no idea that Macy's now only serves as an "umbrella" under which different brands/stores sell their individual wares and has no say in pricing, etc. Sooo...I told him why would I buy from Macy's then? I'll just go on line and go directly to the source. And that's what I did. THEN, I went to Macy's women's store to buy Lancome makeup. I knew exactly what I wanted and the person at the counter retrieved the boxed makeup for me. I wanted two bottles but only one was boxed; the other was on display for people to see and possibly test. She takes the out-of-box makeup and starts to put it in a box. I told her there was no way I would purchase out-of-box makeup that had been available for use. She said, "but it hasn't been out here that long." Really? I went to Sephora and bought it there, at 30% off, fully boxed and sealed. And Macy's wonders why it is losing customers?? read more

I like Macy's because there seems to always be a sale! Unfortunately, shopping here makes me want to go into a cleaning frenzy! In particular, the shoe department is a massive wreck. I literally want to start cleaning up the never ending mess all over the floor and the piles of shoes on the displays. Yesterday I went to your Manhattan Beach location to exchange a watch I bought for my boyfriend. I bought it a few days after Christmas while I was home in Oregon visiting family. I finally found one I liked, but it was more expensive by about $50, than I wanted to spend. The sales associate convinced me this watch would be worth the money. She told me Nautica watches will last forever; her exact words were "longer than the Swiss Army ones." She informed me that there was a year warranty through Macy's with an additional 3+ years through Nautica, but assured me I would never even need it. She convinced me; I spent the extra $50 and bought it. It has now been six months since I purchased the watch. The other day my boyfriend and I were out running errands and I asked him what time it was. He looked down at his watch and in shock it was filled with water and steam. Very sad and disappointed he took it off. Nothing in the watch worked. He tried re-setting it and still nothing. I assured him it would not be a big deal because of everything I told him the sales associate had told me when I bought the watch. He called a local store and the manager said it would not be an issue just to bring it in and they would fix it or replace it with no problem. My boyfriend is a firefighter and got called to a fire out of state for a minimum of two weeks. Sad he had no watch to wear, but I told him I would exchange it while he was gone. Yesterday after work I went into the Manhattan Beach location. I told the sales associate what had happened and she called over her manager, Erick. I explained the story once again and he told me there was nothing he could do because the store only has a 30 day return policy. I had the box, everything it came with, and the sticker that shows the proof of purchase. He scanned it in and saw all the information. Erick then told me that it could not be returned because the warranty becomes invalid when the watch is sized and that I signed a contract saying that. I did not ever sign anything except for the receipt when I paid! The manager sized it and never mentioned that! I told him if those weren't kept in the box he wouldn't know that it was sized and if he really wanted me to I would go to a jeweler and pay $5 to have them put back on. The band has NOTHING to do with the mechanics of a watch! Then he walked away and called the Loss Prevention Manager and was on the phone with her for over 10 minutes while I stood and waited. When he came back he once again said there was nothing he could do. He suggested I go back to the store I bought it at, which he knew was in Oregon. So I am going to buy a $400+ plane ticket and fly up the coast to return a watch to a department store which is a nationwide chain? Come on! All he kept telling me was he was getting a "No" for an answer. I asked if I could speak to whoever is giving him this answer. He said sure, and handed me a weird walky talky. I spoke to the LP manager who told me she thought it was fishy that when she scanned the ticket it said Oregon, but I told him I bought it at the Beverly Center. Erick had misunderstood me and relayed the message wrong. She made it seem like I stole the watch!! Even though they could pull up the record and see if was on my mother's Macy's credit card. The address on the account and the address on my driver's license match, the only that is different is the name! I told I would call her that second and get her social security number to validate it or she could tell you the last purchase on the card or something to prove it was us! He responded, "Anyone can fake things like that." ." Correct they could but, I am going to create a fake driver's license and Macy's credit card to switch a $200 watch that broke for the same exact item? I did not want store credit, another watch, cash, anything! I wanted my watch which I paid for exchanged! There is no way a $200 watch should break in less than 6 months, that is ridiculous! Erick then told me he would give me a good discount if I wanted to buy another. To be honest at this point I thought I was on one of the game shows where they see how far they can push you and then pop out and say surprise, here's $100! I looked around for cameras even! I'm not going to spend $200 every six months on new watches, no one would do that! At this point he put the LP Manager back on the walky talky with me and I asked her to please come down and talk to me and help with the situation. She said, "No problem, I'm sending someone down." Well, no one ever showed. Finally, an hour and a half later Erick exchanged the watch. I still had to pay shipping and tax, but I just had to get out of the store. read more

Hope you never need help from Customer Service or re:your billing! This was one of my worst experiences with a department store and I want to warn all of you. I called because the balance on my bill did not seem correct so I wanted to confirm my balance and pay it. The person I spoke with was difficult to understand due to his strong accent. We went over the bill and it was $14.00 higher than it should have been. He supposedly fixed it and I paid it or so I thought. After we hung up I realized that his math was wrong and I wanted it corrected. I called back and spoke to another person that I could barely understand. Suffice to say, after 3 calls the problem was still not fixed. Now, the next day, I have been on hold for over 24 min. trying to speak with someone in the U.S. I wonder how much longer I will be on hold and if this discrepancy will ever be fixed. OK, at 27 min I quit. Hanging up now. NO RESOLUTION!!! There are plenty of places to shop but I assure you Macys will not be one of them from now on! I'm cancelling this credit card! read more

Came on my weekend to do a little shopping with my grandmother and I had never been here before. First I loved how every Macy's was separate and I could get right to the woman's without getting lost. Loved all the designers they had on display this season and the shoes were all to die for. The staff was phenomenal. I have lived with retail in my life and I know it is a tough business but REALLY! Macy's, Manhattan Beach, is the worse, most uncomfortable, run store. In such an affluent area you would think corporate would see this as a potential "home run". The merchandise is jammed on the racks. No one to help. The dressing rooms look like Sears ... My last visit was two days ago... I was in the store, my last, looking for help. No employees around, when I finally found a register in a different department... there were 9 customers deep waiting to pay. (...this was after Christmas!) I went in search of another register... Found one with one customer - but the employee had no idea of how to run the transaction. Waiting again, I finally gave up - put down my items and walked out of the store. Be careful & be aware when you guys do pick up orders! I had bought a MK handbag over mother's day weekend. Although the sale associate had to come back twice because she forgot my last name in 2 seconds after I told her...I checked the bag really quick after signing it. When I got home, I noticed and inspected it carefully that I saw marks on the bag (I know my handbags) and the MK hanging keychain that is supposed to come with it..was missing. I knew they clearly gave me a off the sales floor bag. I couldn't return that weekend but during the following week I did. I had complained to customer service online about it and its dissapointing that you order to hope its going to be a brand new product. But no. When I did return it, the sales associate was very cheery and did not ask questions and just returned it. Kinda puzzling but alright lol. I know better next time, big purchases like this deserve to be looked at before purchasing IN PERSON. read more

Let me start with this isnt entirely for Macys Manhattan beach, but there is no place I could find to review their online service... Needed to buy the with a specific purse for her b day, so I stopped in the local Macys. Unfortunatly ths store was really run down, but the people were nice and helpfull ( redondo beach store ) unfortunatly they didnt have the item in stock, but the nice lady did a stock check and let me know what stres had the bag and how many they had. So I run over to the Manhattan Village store, inventory says 2 in stock. When I arrive I found the bag on display, found a clerk ( not the most helpfull ) and she tells me the display bag is damaged and went to check stock...guess what?? they dont have 2 only 1 damaged bag. So bummer for me, they offered to order it online but I declined. I really needed this bag and didnt want to keep running all over town so I broke down and ordered it online. Prompty got a tracking number, waited till next day to track, only info sent to fedex, no movement, next day same thing. I sent an email regarding the package, I was very clear I needed the package by saturday, their responce was " I found your package was not sent out, we have now shipped it usps" WTF seriously? so that had the package getting there 3-4 day after I told them I needed it. ( not to mention the spelling and grammar was bad for a customer service responce ) I responded to the email and was ver clear once again that if it wasnt there BY saturday I no longer wanted the package. They responded by re shipping the package fedex, the tracking number again had it being delivered a couple days AFTER I needed it. So now I call Macys online and when they rep answered the phone, I politly asked for a manager, the rep asked me a bunch of questions and tried to go over the order after I asked for the mananger, I got pissed and kinda was an ass to him for not listening to what I asked of him. THen after a few min on hold I get a manager and find out it is supposed to be there saturday bay 8pm...man seriously thats the best Macys can do. what a fail. I canceled the package and fought direct from the mfg of the bag like I should have done in the first place. WHat happened to macys, they used to be a great store with great customer service...I guess that was once upon a time. recap. Macys Redondo would have gotten a 4 star rating because the store sucked but the employees were very nice and helpfull. Macys Manhattan village maybe a 2.5 for poor inventory control and having a damaged bad on display and not really being very helpfull. Ever since Robinson-May's was shut down and absorbed into Macy's, I've been mourning the loss of my go-to-department store. I liked Robinson's over Macy's because I felt like there was a similar amount of selection, but the prices were lower at Robinson's and the staff there didn't seem as snooty as the ones at Macy's. But every now and then, I do need jeans or underwear or whatever and I have to hit the department stores. And what better time to hit the stores for underwear than Father's Day? I can get what I want on sale and take care of my underwear needs. Anyway, I headed to the one closest to me and they had some of the styles that I liked, but I was opting for grey, no white and no black. It was a small selection, but I got a fair amount. But I figured since these things were on sale, I thought why not try to buy a few more and save some cash? Since I'm working in the South Bay, I headed to the Macy's on Hawthorne and found NONE of the styles that I wanted so I was a little discouraged and was ready to drive home, when it hit me that Manhattan Beach has this location! Woo hoo! Not bothering to get too excited, I decided to swing on by. Well I'm glad I did. I like this mall in that they have some stores that I like to shop from and in addition, it's kind of the last place I can go to in case other stores run out of styles in my size. So I walked in the Macy's Men Store and it was REALLY quiet after work (around 5 pm) and there were a few people shopping, but not too many. But I knew what I wanted so I headed there and got my things. Because it's not a hugely popular mall, the service is kind of lacking. I mean I was waiting behind a woman who wanted to use two coupons, but in actuality, could use one and rather than reading the fine print, the cashier had to redo the ENTIRE set of clothes and she was purchasing many things so I had to hunt down another open cashier. Well one of the employees agreed to help me out. He rung up my underwear and was joking with me. I was busy texting a friend and he joked that I made a crazy donation to some thing as I was signing the little machine. I give him credit for pulling one on me with a joke and I was satisfied because he took the effort to open up a cash register for me. Also, I got more underwear at a lower price and I'm set. So I really can't complain. It's not the best store, but like the mall, it's a GREAT place to go to if your style or size runs out at the more mainstream stores! This review is for the Home store only. Let me preface by saying that we usually drop by this Macys to pick up quick items first because it's quite close and conveniently located, and we previously had such a good experience when it came to our bridal registry. We've also had good experiences whenever we've had to ship gifts directly to an address. On the other hand, if you're dropping by to physically pick up an item, shopper beware. In trying to save gas, time and effort, we end up wasting 45 minutes of our time waiting in the store because they never seem to have anything in stock and most of the floor sales reps are unknowledgeable about their stock. For example we went in to find a blender in a certain color. We even had the print-out from the website. The sales rep located a random blender sitting out there and tried to convince us that it was one and same, when the color was obviously different. When he looked it up in the system, it indicated several in stock but the salesperson spent half an hour looking for it and couldn't find it. He then tried to give us an excuse that the system allocates more in stock when a delivery is expected the next week, which is unheard of in all my years of working retail. We then had to ask him to locate it in other stores for us because he didn't even take initiative to do that. This similar situation has occurred for a few other items that we've tried to purchase. Today was the last straw, as my husband popped in to pick up a muffin pan only to find out it wasn't in stock. A muffin pan, my friends! I think it's been decided that we'll no longer come to this home store for physical items because what's the point if nothing that we happen to need is going to be in stock? I would give the Home Section negative stars if it weren't for Vernessa, the bridal registry consultant. She was very knowledgeable and fantastic. She is friendly and does not hover over customers, which I like. She set everything up for us and let us do our thing. After we got married, we came back to complete our registry (20% baby!). Jorel also gave us wonderful customer service. He was so helpful in locating items for us in store and online. He was also very patient in processing our returns since we received doubles and even triples of some of our wedding gifts. Both Vernessa and Jorel personified what customer service is, and made our registry experience a satisfying one. I would give those two particular employees 5 stars if I could. Although as a caveat I do have to say that we ended up having to scan most of our items at the Del Amo Macys Home due to the limited selection and stock. So in conclusion: If you're in the area, come by to set up your registry with Vernessa or to order stuff that needs to be shipped. Otherwise, go to a different brick and mortar store for your actual shopping and registry scanning needs. Chances are, you'll need to go back multiple times to finish your registry so it's okay to spread out the process among different stores depending on how conveniently located the Macys home stores are! read more

I came here for Memorial Day sale. I only step in to the shoe department but was a little disappointed since the only 3 employees where very busy. I would expect Macy's to be over staff for the size and demand of the store. The store had a great selection of shoes colors and styles. The store was well stocked and clean. I am not a fan of their separated buildings for the Women and Mens/Housewares. No part of this plan makes sense to me. Women usually shop housewares and for women's clothing.
