I paid to have two pairs of jeans hemmed. Both from Bravestar. Paid the cost an additional $21 in shipping. I get an email from them that they wont hem my pants because they are dirty....I saw this rule when I bought the hemming service. I get it...they dont want nasty unwashed Selvage sent in. Totally get it My jeans were black and unworn. I tried them on and put them in my closet because they were too long. Moved them to my garage to ship where they sat for 2 days maybe. They send me a pic of the back pockets and white debris. Barely anything. The sheen on new selvage catches everything and they should know that. They are obviously unworn...not hard to see in selvage 5 emails back and forth and they just sent them back to me. Im supposed to wash them and pay for shipping again. Would not listen to reason. Would not budge What a fucking joke. They said their workers get sick often from dirty jeans . What a terrible company. When it was clear the rep didn't even think about my request he rejected me outright. When I asked if he had run this by Mik, the owner, I was mocked by them. Just read the previous reviews, this place is a SCAM and a ripoff. I received a pair of jeans from them as a gift, which I know weren't cheap... and they don't fit. Their jeans run VERY small in the waist sizes, I wear the same exact size in every other pair of jeans, but these are so small I cannot even button them. I attempted an exchange to get a larger size, but these clowns in "customer service" at this place said since it was "hemmed" (apparently a customization) they cannot be returned. Ordered a pair based on the website's sizing chart. Because it was all detailed so well on the site I expected I could trust the measurements and went ahead and had the pair hemmed. $164 total. As far as I can tell, the quality seems good but unfortunately the sizing was extremely small. Maybe the +or- 1/2 inch tolerance is a bit too much of a margin. I went up in size compared to my other jeans based on other reviews that they run small and they still are too small. Now I can't exchange or return them and they're useless to me. I'm a thin guy with very little thighs and butt and I can barely get the legs over my thighs. The front fits more like women's jeans with zero room inside and the back doesn't cover over my butt. Can't even get close to buttoning them despite going up a size based on their waist size chart. I can't entirely blame the company as I should have had the good sense not to order jeans like these online. Unless you can go in person, assume the sizes aren't accurate and don't get them hemmed by Brave Star. Find a local tailor after ensuring that they fit. read more

This company has been absolutely terrible to work with. I pre-ordered a pair at the end of November, and on the site it stated 1-1.5 month wait. great. I ended up receiving them 3.5 months later, during this time their customer service team was less than reassuring. When I received the product, 2 months late, the seams were ripped. Absolutely upset, I reached out to customer service and again they were underwhelming. I have since set them back and got them repaired, but I'm probably going to donate them to charity though I do feel bad donating an inferior product to charity. Avoid this company! read more

Great in-store experience back around May 2020. There was only one guy (forget his name) there working when I went in. He was cool cat as I recall. He managed to service me and two other people who came was I was there. At no point did I feel slighted. The gent explained the different styles and gave me some recommendations. I was able to try on a few pairs to see what I liked. I opted for the custom hem, so I made a return trip for pick-up. Even grabbed a jacket that was on sale my second go round. I've worn both the jeans and jacket multiple times and both are still holding-up. Note: I haven't washed either because I prefer the look. read more

After doing a ton of research, and reading everything on Brave Star's site, I decided to commit to a pair of 21.5oz jeans in a slim straight. I based my size and fit on the measurements as the site instructed. I considered the negative reviews, and if they weren't on point with their measurements I'd planned on reselling them as opposed to dealing with customer service (as bad as many people say it is). To test that, before ordering, I reached out to customer service to get a read on them: they responded within 24 hours and were super helpful with confirming my fit - I was pleasantly surprised. The order arrived in a reasonable amount of time and after a thorough inspection, I was extremely satisfied with the product. Fit and materials were awesome. I was so impressed I went back and bought a jacket, which I'm equally pleased with. Many other reviewers complain about issues that are clearly buyer's remorse, as many of their issues are covered clearly on the website. It's a shame that a satisfied customer is often far less likely to review than one who wants to complain. Stay positive. read more

Brave Star really needs to improve their quality control and customer service. The pants I received were 1.5-2 sizes smaller than the size chart in the waist and rise and completely unwearable. Because I paid to have the pants hemmed (based on their own size chart) they refused the return. Maybe I shouldn't say refused, they just didn't respond to my emails or phone calls at all. Don't trust the size charts, do not get anything hemmed without trying it on first, and do not expect any customer service or communication about your order. Came in on a Monday and was greeted by Spencer. This place is truly Americana at its best. The machinery used takes you back to a time where people took pride in their craft. Spencer was quite informative about the types of denim used. I purchased a pair of their true straight 16.5 "Uppercut" jeans and was properly fitted to a T. These jeans cannot possibly fit a normally shaped human being. Pant way too long, unless you roll the jeans at least 3 times over (even still, they are long). The rear of the jean is so tight it feels like there is a second belt on me 5 inches lower. Their sizing chart is intentionally confusing, and I've now had 2 pairs of jeans arrive in the wrong size. They don't allow for ANY refunds whatsoever, won't cover shipping costs for size returns, and customer service was extremely unhelpful in working through my size issue. All in all, I'm left with a pair of jeans that doesn't fit and they ended up with $100 of my money. read more

I was a huge fan and loyal customer of this company until now. I recently pre-ordered a 21.5 oz "heavy weight" jacket one size UP for layering purposes. I received a jacket in the size ordered that I cannot even button over a tee shirt because it is so small. I am still arguing with them (Greg) that it is completely wrong sized. I'm told that due to the heavy weight of the denim it will be tighter, (their website is silent on this assertion), and if I want to exchange it or receive a refund I have to pay shipping back to them. It seemed like this company was David vs. Goliath so I really wanted to give them the business. I received a couple of items from these folks and from what I can tell the quality is worth the $. However, like others have said, the customer service is severely lacking. How is it that a company can't execute a simple exchange of 1 for 1 items? I needed one size up on the exact same jacket and these guys would not work with me on this. Apparently the exchange policy doesn't apply to "sale items" (btw the return policy doesn't allow for anything but store credit). I could understand if it was a "final sale" but it wasn't. The item appears to be commonly stocked and popular. So I'm being penalized because I bought the item current the sale period? Seems unfair. Beyond this, you could tell that customer satisfaction is really not that important. You can only communicate via email and they didn't return my phone calls. So in the end, I have store credit for an item - just waiting for it to go on sale so I can recoup my $ (not including about $30 in extra shipping costs). Brave Star gets 1 star Their jeans get 2 stars First I'll talk about the jeans. These jeans are unwearable for me. They are so tight across the thighs and the crotch is so tightly stitched that no movement is possible. If I stretch it, my legs can just barely form a 90° angle side to side or front to back with one another. These were not made to move in. The pair I got is also way too small. I very carefully measured everything, including these jeans. They may technically be the right measurements, but again, I think the stitching and poor cut make them awkwardly tight. They do not fit like Levi's, as their website compares them to. And a note on the legs. They only come in 36 inch inseam, which is fine, but the way they taper is as if a person actually has a 36 inch inseam. The expectation is that they will be rolled up or hemmed later--for a human being to wear. But the legs are cut so that the shape and taper assumes you have 36 inch legs and will be wearing them as is. They're nothing spectacular. These are just Wranglers or any other pair of dad jeans. They're stiff, thick, not especially stylish. I bought them for how they would break in so I'll see how they do over time, if I can endure wearing them. now let me explain why I won't be returning or exchanging them. Brave Star's customer is always wrong. I bought this pair of jeans as a Black Friday deal, on November 20th, 2021. They arrived on January 28th, 2022. Their website, and order confirmation email, said they would arrive within 5-10 days. When I emailed customer service I didn't get a response for a whole week. Then, I was told I contacted the wrong department, I was wrong, I should have seen the disclaimer, I should have seen the disclaimer, I should have seen the disclaimer. They did nothing but argue with me for two months. They have no value for me as a customer, they made no effort to make it right, they told me I should have understood their contradictory information correctly, and now to make a return I have to pay shipping and only get my purchase price back? To exchange these jeans that don't fit I would end up having to pay shipping three times. It's not even worth the money or to have to deal with these people again. read more

This company is the worst ever i ordered jeans and had to wait over a month and they never came and showed delivered and when i called them they wouldn't do anything for me they said take it up with the post office and the post office said they would refund $50 to brave star not to me i paid over $120 and i have a pre-order in and tried to cancel it two days after i ordered then when they wouldn't credit me for the pair that never arrived they said i cannot cancel the pre-order yet the delivery date on those isn't till end of July and this was in MAY!!!! they did say the boss would call me to see what they could do but that call never happened so after several calls back to them with them telling me i would get a call back i've given up and put in a report to the better business bureau! I recently found the coolest pair of jeans that I have ever had (i have had em all btw), and it was by complete accident. Me and my family were going to meet some friends for dinner at a super cool place in El Segundo, The Slice & Pint ( I will have to write a review, best pizza ever!) The pizza joint is on W. Grand Ave and we parked just around the corner on Richmond St. Upon parking the car, I looked over to my right and saw a vintage looking brick building and garage with a big sign that read Brave Star Selvage. Looked interesting so I walked up to check it out. Turns out to be a selvage denim brand and the quality and pricing is unbelievable! The jeans are hand crafted in L.A from Cone Mills from the US and Japan. Super dark indigo & raw denim from light weight to extra heavy. Place is owned by Mik and Maria and you can see the passion they have for denim directly in the quality of the jeans they are putting out. They heavy a really cool backstory and have been in the denim game for a long time. The staff is just as enthused and could not be more helpful. Spencer helped me to get all squared away with jeans, jacket, belts and some misc merch. I just saw an article in Esquire the listed the 16 brands every jeans guy needs to know, all the usual suspects, Rag & Bone, A.P.C. etc, nothing too interesting and the coolest jeans are the ones you wont find on some list. You will not find these jeans anywhere but their small store and online, which helps to keep the price incredibly reasonable. Check em out! read more
