I love the Madewell brand. I appreciate that they have rebranded and offer a bunch of clothing for us Curvey grown 40+ women I can find casual and date night attire here. My first time shopping at this location, I was initially upset that there was alow amount of petite sizes stocked, but I ended up walking away a winner. All of staffing on this Wednesday evening were super friendly and helpful. Shout out to LILY for helping me find my perfect Jean. Madewell always have great sales. Today I racked up on the 40% off full price items and additional 50% off sale items. Nobody's getting holiday gifts but this year lol. read more

This Madewell is located at The Point. Meaning, it is in a very nice shopping location, surround by a number of other high-end shops and restaurants that offer a wide variety of food and drink. This store offers what Madewell is known for providing; i.e. a variety of nice clothing options for women and for men. As each Madewell store offers slight variants in what they are selling, what you will find at this shop may be slightly different from what you will find at other Madewell stores. One way or the other, this store offers the style of clothing and accessories that you can expect from this brand. The shop is well organized and staffed by knowledgeable employees who are happy to help you out if you need it. The store is always clean and well organized every time I have been to this location and I feel like their products are always a very good quality that last. I dropped in to return a few things that I bought online. Everyone who works there is so nice and helpful, so I ended up staying and trying on another 6 pairs of denim. All of the pairs that I wanted to try were in stock in my size (does this ever happen post-COVID?!) and I felt no pressure at all to buy. At one point, I was explaining that I liked frayed hems but I would probably mess up doing it myself to a regular hem, and she even offered for them to do it at the store for me! Angel! It does not seem like Madewell gets good reviews. Despite really good clothes, well-curated trends, and a bright and clean space...they get a lot of poor reviews on the staff, warmth of the front line workers and overall handling of customers. I really disagree. We had a nice experience. Multiple staff helped out with the return of an online order and the trying on and fit of some new jeans for me. Everyone was chatty. The two sales folks i spoke to knew their products well and were able to compare another brand fit also. I was impressed with the products. The sales persons and the prices too. read more

I bought some jeans online and they felt a little stiff in the hip area. So I was debating whether or not to return them. I went into the store and two associates were very helpful in showing me different types of jeans to find my ideal fit. The store was a little busy but they still made time to help me. They told me that Madewell jeans get a a half inch looser after you wear it. They also told me which types of jeans to filter for the look I wanted. I really appreciated their customer service. I do agree with some of the reviews below. There have been times that I've been into the El Segundo Madewell store and felt uncomfortable or unwelcome but it seems this location is working hard to remedy that and I can appreciate their huge improvement in customer service. read more

Really cute stuff but really poor services. I was there for a while but not one sales associate asked if we needed help finding sizes or need a dressing room. In fact not one greeted us, 3 giggling sales associates just standing around talking about their love life, one clearly passed me by the dressing room and just gave me a sus glance and walked off. The associate at the register was so unfriendly when we were checking out ....did I owe her money? Or stolen her boyfriend? Would it hurt to smile? Oh wait maybe that's the associate manager, oh boy is this store in trouble! From this experience, I'll just purchase everything online instead of going in person. Seems like the same complaints from many other reviews here, clearly, the manager doesn't care. Maybe don't just hire associates without training them on customer service? This morning I went to this branch, it's so sad to be stepping into a store where the staff are unwelcoming, especially the one assigned at the counter. She looked so cold, flat and stiff, not even looking or acknowledging incoming customers. There was only one staff who's arranging the merchandise who made a simple remark of " let me know how I can assist you". I remember the same experience in another one of their branch, so I wasn't so surprised though quite concerning. Read other reviews prior creating this, seems that the pattern is the same. Either staff are not properly trained on this aspect, no training at all or the management didn't find the comments valid or credible enough to emphasize customer service satisfaction is essential part of a successful business. In a time when businesses are thriving because of the country's financial crisis, business owners must emphasize on customer service to engage and attract patrons to purchase their merchandise. I guess their business is doing quite well that they don't need to attend to paying customers. Lululemon signature customer service is a perfect example, you come in the store to browse and buy, lucky if you find a stock of what you plan to buy, but buy anyways since the crew are exceptionally attentive, friendly and accommodating. Hopefully they re-evaluate their marketing strategy, until then I don't see any reason to patronize this business. read more

Took my friend to get her first pair of madewell jeans and one of the sales associates was so rude and basically body shaming my friend because she was unable to find the right fitting jeans. She was super pushy and insisted she was right about the fit being "too baggy" on my friend. We left the store with such a sour experience. I agree with the other reviews about customer service. I've been here several times I never got the vibe of friendly & welcoming staff. Most of their staff are such a snob, they act like you don't exist. And I also noticed they like to talk to each other, standing at the cashier area, ignoring my presence as a customer. I was just here today, nobody said hello or anything. I was going to purchased the jacket with my 15% off but I walked away. Just because of that kind of attitude I never buy anything from this store. They definitely has a lot of cute, stylish and classic clothing that I really like. I just don't have the heart to spend my $$$ here. They are overpriced and they rarely go on sale. Even if it's on sale they don't offer huge discount. This is a sister company of JCREW (which I really like). I even signed up for the loyalty program on both. JCREW offers more discounts and the staff at the El Segundo plaza are definitely nicer and so much better in regards with customer service. I shop a lot at JCREW. The crew at this particular store needs to be train properly, even just the basic customer service skills would go along way. They are certainly out of touch. Learn how to be human. This brand has been my go-to for jeans the last couple of years. I used to love my designer jeans, spending upwards of $200 but I can get the same great quality and fit for much less which I am very happy about. Love this particular store and all the staff has been nothing but helpful every time I go in. My review is to highlight sales gal Allie who was working the evening I went in to try on some jeans. Staff are AMAZING and go the extra mile. They work hard and know their knowledge on jeans and sizing and are honest. They offer free hemming and they keep the store in good order. If you can't find it in the store they check other stores and will spend countless hours with you if needed to track down that item. The store director is extremely accommodating and management are very kind and helpful. The stylist Misty really is charming and knows her product knowledge well and makes you feel like family. The girls on the shop floor are sweet and kind and happy to chat with you and hear your needs. What a great store in a great location ! read more

Madewell located in The Point Plaza El Segundo was a very nice shopping experience. It is not a fancy , ornate, high fashion product offering, however it is great at what it is. Clean , comfort, decent quality, denim and effortless. I like all of it , I'm sure the gal did too. I walked around , thought any female for the most part can use a nice , comfy , mod outfit that's not over the top. So I pulled a few pieces and yes indeed they loved the gifts and I will be back for other purchases. Staff was helpful , I don't get the feeling people are following , but I'm comfortable without being sales hassled. A five star could be in reach if most of the pieces that were non - denim were stitch constructed better and the knits used better quality/ grade base material. Nice store, pretty location but no customer service. Went in today to try some different jean styles and was there for at least a half an hour carrying around a big stack of jeans and not one person spoke to me. No hello, no asking if I needed help. When I said excuse me to the two associates standing by the denim bar so I could get by, I got an eye roll. I got a dressing room for myself after hovering around for awhile. I felt like I was in the movie Pretty Woman. I guess I didn't look fancy enough to help? There were quite a few people working and they weren't at all busy. Love the staff at this Madewell location! All of the employees are taking so many health and safety precautions in the store - wearing masks and gloves, only have certain fitting rooms open, wiping down the register area, social distancing, etc. which made me feel very safe while shopping. I went in to return a purse that I ordered online and unfortunately, it arrived with a big scratch so I wanted to exchange it. The employee that helped me was so nice and since the store didn't have a new one in stock, she had one overnighted. I received the new bag today and it's perfect. Customer Service Rating Post [Madewell at The Point in Manhattan Beach]: My cousin in law walked in on Monday, Sept 3, 2018 Labor Day around 1-2PM, to introduce her to Madewell jeans after browsing through the Lucky Store a few doors down. I kept speaking highly of madewell's denim that she decided to stop looking midway at Lucky to check out Madewell. I have always enjoyed my full experience at shopping at Madewell and even felt proud that the company has a program where you donate any of your full length denim to recycle for home insulation to receive $20 credit on a reg priced denim. However, this specific day my cousin in law and I were greatly disappointed by 2 sales associates that were right next to the denim bar, standing around, talking to each other, as we walked up to the area. I even said out loud, while making eye contact with the full head of blond waves and a shoulder length dark haired sales associates, that they can definitely assist on finding the perfect pair. Instead of a welcome or initiating their help they just stood there staring at us. As if we were the ones intruding their time. So my cousin in law walked away after the awkward stand off, completely annoyed by their lack of customer service. I was shocked because they turned their backs to us and returned to their conversation! To make matters worse, there were barely any customers! Madewell, at The Point, definitely needs to re-train their sales associates on BASIC customer service. Even a welcome greeting when entering a store should not be hard. I worked at Nordstrom in my early 20's and I definitely know good customer service is a large part of customer experience which equals to loyalty and sales. It would be better to just shop at Nordstrom if wanting Madewell items than at The Point. read more

This Madewell is brand new (I'm sure you've seen promos about their opening in your Madewell promotional emails), and super clean! Everything is super well organized and laid out perfectly, just as you would expect from any Madewell store. The setup is just like any typical Madewell, but this store is a little bigger than your typical Madewell (i.e. South Coast Plaza, 3rd Street Promenade). The only thing that really differs between Madewells is the customer service. The ladies at this one weren't unpleasant, in fact, they were smiley and nice... once they got around to asking how I was doing... almost 20 minutes after I walked into the store... even though I was the only customer at the time... and they were just talking amongst themselves at the register. Honestly, it wasn't the worst customer service I've encountered--it wasn't even bad. Just meh. But the store. The store was gorgeous. read more

Went into the store on Sunday and purchased two sweaters and two tops. I was not only impressed with the friendliness of the sales associates, but the service I received after the sweater I purchased went on sale the next day! Luckily my receipt had been emailed to me. I called the store and they immediately honored the on-line discount and credited me over $48. It literally took less than 3 minutes over the phone and the associate could not have been more helpful or friendly. This experience alone will encourage me to return to Madewell. read more

The store is always missing the average sizes and unless you really search for it, not really eager to help with customers. There are, of course, exceptions. But the last couple of times that I've been there, I really needed to seek out help and since I couldn't tell who worked there and who didn't. Even when you make eye contact with a salesperson from the dressing room, it's hard to get them to come over to help you. I'm very surprised at the customer service here since J Crew is always excellent. The main cashier/assistant manager (not sure of her role but seemed like she was in charged) is very standoffish to customers. I called earlier to ask if a boot in a size and color was available and an associate put it on hold for me. Made the trip down and they held the wrong color for me and they didn't actually have the one I was looking for. It's all fine except for her attitude when asking her to find the color I was looking for. Anyway, seems like the people who work here hates retail and their job. The only exception was a taller lady who helped me. She tried to assist me even if they didn't have what I was looking for. I like Madewell and will only order online now. read more

I wish I knew her name but one of the sales associates here really helped me out! I had been searching for a pair of jeans for weeks and asked if they had them in stock. They did not but she went ahead and searched other stores and managed to find them at another store nearby. These jeans had been sold out online for forever. Thank you so much! On top of that they ended up being on major sale at the store and I got them for almost half off!!! The sales associates definitely don't hover but if you need help and ask they are awesome and go above and beyond what other stores would do in my opinion. This review is specifically for Sarah. I placed an online order and was interested in exchanging my purchase for a different size. I called the El Segundo location because it's close to me. Sarah went above and beyond to help me. She searched for my desired size on the floor and in the back inventory. When she had no luck, she asked if she could put me on hold and called another store to see if they had a size they could hold for me, then she explained how I could exchange the top through that store via mail for free. Unfortunately they didn't have the size, as it is now completely sold out. But! I am committed to shopping this brand from hereon out if this is their level of customer support. I've only had positive experiences here. The employees are very helpful in selecting the correct fit and size for jeans which can get a bit tricky! I was acknowledged, offered and started a fitting room, and also arranged to pick up an out of stock item at another store across town. They have a great clearance section. Here and there, they will have cute snacks and sparking water as a treat for their customers. It's a bit of drive for me (20 minutes) but it's nice to shop and grab some Peet's Coffee afterwards :-D read more

I've had the experience of working at Jcrew for 5 years, where I've been trained by a great 'crew' of managers to provide and exceed customer service- Acknowledge and greet each customer, offer a fitting room, assist finding an out of stock item at another store or online (considering tablets are provided by the company as resource and tools), and give suggestive pieces to pair with items I picked out which I was holding in my hands....Never would I have expected terrible service at this Madewell store considering its the sister store of Jcrew. Neither the manager, window/visuals associate, or sales floor associate greet any of the dozen customers in the store. As I waited in line, listening to their short responses to customers that needed help was disappointing. I still like Madewell and their cute go-to styles but there's room for a lot of improvement in terms of service (hint hint Micky D.) I'd rather commute to another location than this one and maybe you should too. read more
