Macy's is a solid department store all the way around. Clothing departments for the whole family are good sized. Housewares are plentiful. The shoe department is impressive. They even sell furniture and beds. I was looking for a party dress and had trouble locating the right place in the store for them--there's a lot of real estate to walk around in there! Unfortunately, when I found the dresses, they were either for women much younger than I or matronly. So, my shopping excursion was a bust. I find it worth noting that it was very odd that no cars were parked outside of the store when I arrived. All the cars were next door. I thought they were closed. I'll certainly try shopping at Macy's in the future should I need something I realize they sell; they simply didn't meet my needs on this visit. read more

Typical Macy's but not as vibrant as Macy's in bigger city. I went there for Estée Lauder and the beauty counter is still well stocked. The clothes options are good but not very organized. Oh where do I start. The classic. We love the mall shopping experience, of high priced garbage and workers who treat you like sh*t. There was one lady who constantly belittle me for being anywhere in her general vicinity. No reason mind you. Just cause. The experience is phenomenal elsewhere but in the place with discounted items. That worker is a cretin and needs to be written up. I wouldn't really go here unless you're with people and the mall was the choice of hangout. Macy's doesn't care about you. They are going under, they need profits. Well, I must say that they have failed me as a frequent customer. I won't be shopping with them as frequently as I did in the past they are giving me the run around. I have called and filled BBB claims and they have failed to respond. I bought a G-Shock watch for over $300 which worked for a brief period of time. It's been over 6 months I am trying to get Macy's to replace this watch and all my efforts have been very futile. I have visited 3 local stores and the managers have been very belligerent and very disrespectful to me. I visited the Macy's in Webster Texas at the Baybrook mall, Almeda Mall in South Houston Texas 3 times before it was closed and Deerbrook Mall in Humble Texas about two weeks ago. I explained to the lady I got in the watch department about my situation ; she simply stated that the lady who knows about watches won't be back in a few days. Is this quality service. There isn't anyone who is trained about the watches, why sell them. They need to issue me my money back if they need to pay me for pain and suffering and the time that I have been unavailable to use my watch. I bought a watch to use certain functions and I am unable to use it. I also purchased warranty on the watch. I just called them on the phone today and they have transferred me three times. The last agent said she does not know how to help she will transfer me to her manager and surely she transferred me to a survey and then the phone hang up. Went to this macys last week for online order pickup, and it was a frustrating and worst experience with order pickup, they have one counter for online order pickup and for returns,. two employees to help and one was occupied with the couple of ladies the whole time, that's more than an hour, dunno what was the issue but they were there at the counter before I stood in line, so it was just one lady who was handling, and so many people to return there thanksgiving shopping, so ended up waiting more than an hour. Wish they have separate counter god online order pickup orders, at least around holidays. read more

While I enjoy the layout of the store which allows me to look at the sales items and it is overall laid out logically it does not have the items I am looking for for decent prices. I walked in expecting to buy a dress, but instead probably left with a case of lice. This store is dirtier than 6th Street after the ROT Rally. The first thing that greets you when you enter is this loud metal clanging. That's the escalator protesting its existence within the store. I would soon join that protest. The clothes are no longer organized by brand or frankly, organized at all. They are all combined together - garage sale style - on racks and the racks are just scattered all over the store. That is, the clothes are that actually hung. Many are just thrown on shelving, on tops of racks, and there are piles of clothes on the floor. read more

Covid is basically over so businesses can stop using this excuse to rationalize offering customers sub-par experiences. Do they even have employees? I genuinely don't know since I didn't see a single person the entire time I was here. Granted, I stayed in the formal dress area but the state of this place requires immediate attention. The dressing rooms were open, which is good, the problem is that it hasn't been cleaned since 2020 when the pandemic hit. These dressing rooms are disgusting. They expect me to buy a $129 dress when the place looks worse than Walmart? That's assuming Walmart is filthy, which it's not and in fact is immaculate compared to this Macy's. On Monday my daughter passed away. On Tuesday my wife and I walked into the Macy's in the Lakeline mall to buy clothes to wear to her funeral. I purchased a new gray suit, a purple shirt and tie because our daughter's favorite color was purple. My wife picked out a dress. We were helped by Becky Moskal. She sized me, rang us up, and helped me use a coupon that saved my some money even though money wasn't a factor. My wife asked for a garment bag and unbeknownst to us all Becky could find initially was a plastic bag. She then found a nice black garment bag and said, "I knew I was saving this bag for a special couple." She then asked what the occasion was and we told her our daughter had died and we were looking for funeral attire. She immediately got emotional with us. My wife received a big hug from Becky before leaving. I'm not a suit person but picking this one out was so easy in no small part to my daughter still looking on and the process was pleasurable in no small part to Becky. Thank you Becky. This Macy's did not appear to be in the same category as the Macy's I'd expect. It actually reminded me of the retail store Broadway. Don't know if they are still around. I can't fairly speak on the horrendous mess I was stepping over, since it was the aftermath of the terrorist strike we call "Black Friday". However, the clothes on the racks were truly bottom to mid grade. The sale prices did reflect a fair level though. All I wanted was a tailored suit or a classic fancy dress for a Christmas party. What I found were dresses no better than can be found at Walmart at three times the price. After wandering around looking for the suit section, I finally spotted an employee to ask where they were. She hastily pointed in a direction and said they are next to the dresses and walked off. WTF, so where are the dresses. I walked in the direction she pointed and found the dresses but no suits. After circling the area, I located a few jackets and pants separates. I choose a green jacket and what I thought were matching pants. Found the nearest cashier area but it wasn't manned. Three more cashier station and not a sole in sight. So I stood waiting, and glad I did. The greens did not match once together under the lights. So back to the search. I looked at the dresses; silver mini sequined, black ruffled with a big slit up the side, red satin covered in black lace, and a black feathery number. Somewhere between coming home from work and watching American Idol, I decided I needed to go shopping for a new orange St. Patrick's Day ensemble. Yes, orange. I read an article a few years ago by an Irish-American who said it was customary for Irish Protestants to wear orange in lieu of green due to the Protestant William of Orange (a region of France, not the fruit) and his victory over the Catholics. Or something like that. Basically, it's a big ol' "I'm not a Roman Catholic and I'm kind of workin' that" symbol. In Ireland it starts drunken brawls; in America, people either don't notice, or some may think you're only sort of a dick. I think it's cute, because when I take a picture with someone in green and I stand on the right, we look like the Irish flag. Yes, I have time to think of these things ahead of time. Luckily, no one has had the nerve to pinch me, since they know no one except my lovers get to do that...and even then with express permission. The first thing I noticed in the men's department were orange Dockers. While always fashionably adventurous, I am just not that guy who can pull off bright or oddly-colored trousers. I leave that to the truly flaming or the skinny hipsters that dwell among us. The orange pants looked less "St. Patty's Protestant festive" and more "I just escaped from Shawshank by crawling through a river of sh*t." Pass. I did find some mustard colored pants that looked promising, so I snapped up the 36, and for an ego boost, the 34s(!), too. As American Idol played on the TV in the dressing room, I was heartened to see the 34s did indeed fit, although I needed just that extra little bit on the 36 to provide me with "sit-down" comfort. It was around this time I heard Pia belt out a Celine Dion song, and I proclaimed her both mentally and on Facebook the next American Idol. Well, cross that chore off the list. I had a good first date with the mustard pants, but I passed on a second because I felt they had control and commitment issues. And they didn't really go with anything I owned. Back to the orange. I found a lot of peach crap that wasn't technically orange, until finally an orange-checked Izod caught my eye from across the store. While Izod may seem a little pedestrian for me, it was an orange dress shirt, it was cute, and it was available. It was at this point my mother called and asked to meet me so I could do a preliminary search for an appropriate "mother of the groom" outfit. In fact, her exact words were "Your father would never do it, your brother doesn't care, and I desperately need you to help me select something that is unlike anything that I own." Before I could inquire why we'd be looking at Macy's instead of something at Neiman's or St. Thomas, she hung up. In the interim, I sauntered into the Polo Ralph Lauren section and I found it. A zip up sweater. An orange zip up sweater. An orange zip up sweater that matched my dress shirt. An orange zip up sweater that matched my dress shirt with a little Polo symbol...in green. It was so perfect, I could have peed. Mom finally showed up. I used some combination of logic and bullshit about her having a Macy's card and my providing expert fashion advice, to convince her to buy the stuff for me. I found a gay guy to check us out, as I thought he'd best understand how the orange shirt should have been on sale since the exact one in lavender had been marked on sale. I flashed him a smile. He agreed. I'm a good son and a good customer, but no one ever said I eschew using shameless mercenary tactics to get what I want every chance I get...even on the token items. Mother of the groom dress "idea" shopping was interesting, to say the least. It's not every day Mother and I get to paw through mid-tier brands made from mediocre poly-blends at a mid-level department store. The biggest challenge we're facing is finding something that isn't frumpy, but won't show up the bride. Both she and I have the glaring tendency to make any and all things about ourselves (her infinitely less so), so you can imagine the two of us, sweating bullets at the mere thought we'd have to take a backseat for someone else's special event. We found one suit-type ensemble that looked very Diane-Keaton-in-Father-of-the-Bride, which is kind of what she needs to be aiming for. No one came over to help, but we were glad. This was something we needed to get through on our own. I thought we were finished when she announced we had to go to Dillard's to compare. I was shocked when I went there yesterday, on a Saturday afternoon into the china section. I couldn't believe it when I looked up at the display coves against the walls. They were empty except with the little racks that are used for the items that are supposed to be displayed there. So you look up there, and all you see are racks! And with all of the junk that is in the mark-down sections, this looks like it is turning into just a discount store. read more

WTH has happened to Macy's??? I used to love shopping here. It was always so clean and organized. I went in today and was absolutely dumbfounded. The store was dirty. The entire store looked like a bomb exploded. All the clothes on the racks were not displayed according to size. All sizes were just mixed up. I thought the closer I got to the front of the store the better it would be. I was wrong. The entire store looked like a discount store. My favorite brand, INC, had "old lady" clothes. Racks of clothes sit outside the fitting room that don't get put away. The floor is extremely dirty. Inside the mens fitting room the carpet is full of tiny needles from the security tags . I had one go through my shoe and was lucky it was on the side because it would have gone completely into my foot. We went to the Lakeline Macy's a few days ago. What a giant disappointment. The store is in complete and utter disarray and it wasn't due to holiday shopping. Clothes are not put back where they should be, so you can't find anything. There were items all over the floor, naked mannequins and lots of empty shelves. Was in the purse section and was greeted and helped with anything we needed the makeup counter was a totally different and awful experience as we stood there while three associates carried on with their conversations. I literally had to ask for help them they pointed me off someplace then when I find something to look at the sales associate cuts between me and starts showing the product to someone else. My 3 star are being very generous. Upon entering the store it was a mess. This isn't Macy's standards (holidays are no excuses). We were able to find some items, but the cashier was backed up and there wasn't any help in sight for her. We found another cashier and she was very helpful and kind (the reason for the 3 stars). As we were leaving the mall we wanted some help at the fragrance counter. There were three people working the counter with 1 family. When I asked for someone to help, one of the ladies said they couldn't help us because they were working with one family for 30mins. I explained to her there was a line developing and she exclaimed they will get to the line when they could (rudely). Such a discouraging trip to Macys to start our wedding registry. We were so excited by the ads Macys places in all the bridal magazines of all the benefits, coupons and in store experience of the wedding registry we went to the closest macys to us to begin. There was no one available in the wedding area and after 10 minutes we found someone to help us who called the manager as she was unsure of the wedding department and it's process. The manager came and said we could just start our own registry on the kiosk and then handed us a scanner. Hmph. This didn't feel exciting. Ok... we started walking thru the store and it was a mess. We couldn't find the item we wanted to most register for (bridal shower gift possibility) and after more frustrations we just left, ready to pack it all away and cxl the entire macys registry. I gave it one more go and went to the Barton Creek Macys registry department which was SO much better. Don't bother with this macy's for your wedding registry and take the longer drive to barton creek! read more

I'm not a department store shopper, but there a few reasons I think of them. The biggest one is china and flatware. It always seemed that Macy's had the best selection of china and flatware of anyone. Not here...this particular Macy's probably had the poorest selection of flat ware I have ever seen. There was maybe a total of 4 shelves, 6 feet long for a selection. On these shelves was the biggest, unorganized mess. A disgrace to merchandising. After taking 10 minutes to organize what was here so we could determine my choices I counted no more than 20 choices. Of the 20 choices only about half of them had displays that we could touch and feel, the other half we had to open the boxes to check them out. Lucky for us there was one pattern that we liked enough to buy, but there was only one box of 4 servings. The shining light here is that the women at the register was able to look up an 8 piece serving set, set it up to ship to our house at no charge and stack a couple of sales, discounts, promos or whatever they were doing that day so we save some money - I think. Since everything is always on sale I'm not sure if we saved enough ;-) I'm sure Macy's is feeling the shift in the economy as well as peoples shopping habits, but if they want anyone to shop these departments they better wake up - because they just lost one customer who thought they were the leader here.... read more

I have been a long time pleased Macy customer, in fact I even purchase many pieces of furniture from Macy's. My first piece of furniture was purchased in 1991 and since then I have purchased two sofas, a chair, foot stool, and two-sets of queen mattresses. Unfortunately, my recent purchase of a sofa and a TV stand on December 23, 2012 was not gratifying. The sofa and TV stand were delivered on March 8, 2013 and I quickly noticed that the TV stand arrived damaged and the special ordered sofa was not what I purchased. We paid extra money for the sofa and had to wait 11 weeks only to discover the purchase was faulty. This is unacceptable! I honored my agreement by paying for a service and product that I did not receive. Richard the sales clerk in the furniture department is informative and nice; however, he got our special order wrong. When I tried to get the issue resolved, Macy's flaked out on us. It's been several weeks and I'm still waiting for them to resolve a simple problem. read more

Horrible service at the make up counter. Specifically Ester Lauder. When I asked for help with shade matching I received a look of annoyance from the sales person. I understand COVID has changed department stores' policy and procedures, however I'm sure they didn't change the policy for greeting customers and just being a decent human to others. I was told that they weren't able to color match me personally which I was fine with. However they used a color match app and was provided 4 shades to choose from. The sales person then walked to the counter, squeezed a nickel size amount on a napkin and left a Qtip for me to use to try it on without saying a word. Didn't even attempt to engage or try to sell the product. She then walked away to help another customer totally ignoring me or asking my thoughts on the foundation. The customer service was appalling. You would think with the hardships that people are suffering from the pandemic one would try to keep as many customers as possible. If customers don't shop, it is likely department store employees won't have a job. I'm dumbfounded by the lack of common sense and utter rudeness of this person. I normally try to be reasonable and think "well maybe this person was having a bad day". But her lack of any type of amiable presence was quite infuriating. I'm not sure if Macy's even reads these reviews, but if they do I would highly recommend they absorb these reviews and take them into consideration. Negative publicity will only weaken the already fragile state of this department store. In turn jeopardizing the livelihood of many employees. Unfortunately, I will never shop at this Macy's make up counter again. read more
