Perfect size, they looked like they were in good condition, although I might do some scissor art work on the Nirvana shirt I got. The flannel shirt is perfect. Can't wait to put this outfit together. Can I give a negative star? I'd do 3 negative stars if so. Do yourself a favor and don't even try to shop or trade here. The staff is so completely rude and demeaning. I am embarrassed for my Austin community. The managers/owners of this franchise should be ashamed of themselves. They are not training these girls (and yes they are all teen-aged girls with entitlement issues I assume, I don't know how else to understand their attitudes) These girls are going to get a rude awakening when they go out into the real world and get real jobs. A great new thrift store has opened in Cedar Park! This is an upscale thrift store selling men and women's new and used clothing and accessories. They have trendy brand names such as Coach, Michael Kors, J. Crew, Urban Outfitters, etc. at a fraction of retail prices. Uptown Cheapskate even buys your gently used clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories for cash. This weekend, I attended their grand opening. Solid selection of all kinds of clothes! Their boot selection was much better than other thrift stores nearby. I found a great North Face jacket for $20. Good selection of a variety of clothes from well known brands like Underarmor, Nike, etc. My friends found some very reasonably priced boots and cowboy hats here in time for SXSW. Brought in two huge IKEA bags of nice clothes -- all clean, no stains, no holes, some never-worn shoes, and good brands for men, women, and teens. Was told it would take 30-35 minutes, but after waiting over that, they claimed they "already called my name," which they definitely did not. The worker was rude and had an attitude. After going through everything, they only picked 7 items and offered me $23. Meanwhile, the store was a mess, full of cheap fast fashion in way worse condition than what I brought. Then they asked if I wanted to "donate" the rest, which felt like a way for them to resell my stuff without paying. Whole experience felt like a scam. Never going back. read more

Aside from the fact that the store is ran by a bunch of college kids telling you whether your clothes are "good enough" or not, they were incredibly rude. Not a "welcome in" on the way in, or "have a good day," on the way out. Not only that, we could see the college kids talking sh*t about the shoes, brand new by the way and much nicer than the pair of worn out Barney purple crocs I saw as I waited for my clothes to be quoted. I will not come back to this business, not because my clothes were rejected, but because 1. There was no reason given as to why, 2. The clothes that were approved were insulting in comparison to what we brought, and 3. These kids are just unprofessional snots. This business has a great selection of gently used clothes and accessories. The store is well organized so you can easily find great deals on recent designer items, vintage selections, and other hidden gems. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. This Uptown Cheapskate is conveniently located in a strip mall, in close proximity to Lakeline Mall, with plenty of parking as well as near other stores and restaurants. Brought a huge bag of name brand (Nordstrom etc) clothing in, and was immediately turned away because they weren't "looking for big clothes". I'm plus sized, and the little teenager they had working behind the counter gave me the nastiest look as I left. I will never EVERY step foot in there again. Have sold and bought items here since they opened but today went in with a large pile of men's dry cleaned shirts on the hangers, they told me they dont go through items on hangers.... This is extremely frustrating as I am not going to take my dry cleaned items off the hanger for them to go through and potentially not buy just to have to get them re-dry cleaned should they not buy them. I walked in with my dog, and someone came up to me asking if she was a service dog, and said they only allow service dogs. Now here's where I had a problem, 1. I have brought her in there every time I've gone and have never been stopped. 2. There is no sign regarding whether it's only service dogs. Or that dogs aren't allowed. This is a clothing store, not a restaurant. This location has employees that are rude, and lack good customer service. I was turned away because an employee judged the breed of my dog (German Sheppard), who is trained just as much as a service dog, and is the most loving and friendliest. I've been to the Uptown on Lamar so I was happy when I found out this location was close-by. At a glance they have a decent selection, but after visiting the store in person, some of my suspicions about this location were confirmed. I brought in a selection of old, L to XL dresses that the clerk at the desk barely looked at and turned down because they were formal. Didn't even offer alternatives (consignment, even donations) as mentioned on their website. I love thrifting and re-homing clothes, and I'll likely revisit Uptown as part of my wardobe update! However, it's clear to me that Uptown Cheapskate is more concerned with trends and the thrifted "look" than the sustainable practices they preach on their website... read more

BEWARE of your purchases. Join the "club" if you are a new shopper. Took a friend from out of town today who opted out of the club and stepped 2 feet from counter to find dress had multiple stains not first seen when trying it on and because she's not in the club they could not return, exchange, or lower price. I love this place! They get new stuff in allll the time, I almost feel like I have to stop by everyday lol. This place has great prices and super cute clothes...I basically end up going through all the racks because I don't want to miss anything and I never leave empty handed :P Selling here is super simple too, I'm always trading my stuff which gets addicting too! I was looking at my options for recycling some of my clothing--I found this location on Yelp and decided to give them a try. The store is cleaner and more organized than any resale shop I've been to in the Austin area, so that was a great first impression. The prices are very fair and they have a large men's section which is cool. i brought in approximately 25 pieces and was thrilled that they purchased all but 1 of my items. I left feeling good knowing that someone is going to get some good deals on designer brands and I got some extra cash without having to deal with the hassle of selling online. PLUS SIZE SELLERS: take your business elsewhere. It was obvious they did not even look through all of my items. I had a wide variety of brand new items, casual to formal. I was told they don't buy formal wear, and that was it. No explanation on any of the other NEW WITH TAGS items. There was no plus size section even to shop from. Terrific experience at this Uptown Cheapskate location. The selection of high quality clothing is orders of magnitude better than what I was able to find at the South Lamar location. Various signs throughout the store stated November 24, 25th 26th were black Friday. 30% off if you purchase before noon.. the discount went down after that time. I picked up a couple of sweaters to ring up , it was before noon. The clerk told me that I would be getting 15% off-- but I pointed out the sign, I said I should be getting 30% off . She told me that sign was only good for Black Friday the actual day of Friday. I said that was really misleading. she said was 30 % only on actual black Friday. I was there today, Saturday . She said The rest of the time is 15% . nothing on the sign said anything about that and there were several throughout. The store . I disagreed, She gave me a blank stare. I went ahead and purchased this sweaters, reluctantly. Not paying attention at the moment when I got home I realize I got ZERO discount. What a bunch of BS.!! I am not going back to the store. I love the Uptown store in Austin so I was so excited one opened closer to me. I've been twice now. The second time (most recent) that I went, I spent over $400. The staff that was walking around the store putting things away were extremely rude. My sister and I were shopping through the racks, and they'd come over and put the clothes up right where we were looking and say "excuse me!" in a super rude, condescending way as if we were in their way, multiple different times. I've worked in customer service for a long time, and this is not how you treat customers. No one ever checked on us, or even simply smiled. A lot of the clothes were still priced pretty high for the brands, and there was stains on a lot of the clothes, along with clothes you could tell had been through the washer and dryer often.
