This week I was so disappointed when I walked in to browse and seen a couple of the things I have Chris three times more than what they are worth, especially used. I am donating to help a certain demographic of people and if the Goodwill store I'm bringing my items too or trying to market off of that then I have no choice but to now start donating and smaller centers that are not franchised. This was terribly upsetting. It was all Personal willing to get up to help people, but this is not what they did with my donations. This is pure profit.

There are some things the store does very well, and some areas that are clearly struggling. First, the space is much larger than the previous location. There is plenty of room for merchandise, and they seem to have many kind volunteers working there. The furniture and home goods section is organized fairly well. However, the shelves are extremely packed with merchandise, which may be related to the pricing. Many items feel overpriced for a community thrift store, which likely slows down how quickly things move off the shelves. The layout is also a bit confusing. It almost feels like two completely separate stores. Furniture and home goods are on one side, while clothing is in a different area. What makes it more unusual is that you cannot pay for clothing on the home goods side, or home goods on the clothing side. You also have to go outside to enter each section. It seems like this setup requires twice as many volunteers and makes the shopping experience less convenient. The pricing on the clothing side is actually very good, but the organization is quite poor. I found high-end men's shirts, such as Brooks Brothers, mixed in with women's clothing. There were several other similar examples of items being misplaced, which made browsing more difficult. I have visited multiple times before writing this review because I hoped that, after the expansion, the shopping experience would improve. Unfortunately, the store actually felt more organized in its old location than it does now.

That in itself told me that one hand knows what the other is doing, and it's obviously really organized. Second, when we went in the thrift store side, it smelled clean. On that side, they were super nice too, and my eBay purchase pick up was super smooth. Purchases that you make their go toward providing food for people who need services from the food pantry. Even the eBay purchases go toward that. I feel better about a purchase if something good comes out of it for somebody else too. That's important to me and my family. I had some items that were low value (about $30) but more likely to sell at Habitat than elsewhere. They couldn't stop leaf blowing long enough to avoid creating a dust storm around me while I was attempting donate, but I didn't complain. Apparently it's also a hassle for them as a 503(c) to generate a blank donation receipt, so instead they chose to mock me by suggesting a value of $69,000 for the receipt. I shot back that they were more valuable than the president's underwear. They took umbrage to that. Gaslighting at it's finest. Rule #1 in charity is to respect all donors great or small. The small donor you belittle today won't be back to donate or buy bigger things tomorrow. And don't confuse this location with the more respectable and accessible Habitat for Humanity Austin. They are two different organizations.

This was a 30-minute drive for me from Pflugerville. I can only speak to the selling process at this location, which I think could be helpful for other people in my position. The store did not explain the process to me. I brought in a handful of items, and I was asked to provide my driver's license. They put my items in a bin and I was told that the store had a 2-hour backlog of items to go through. No problem; I drove back home and received a voice mail later that day that they were finished and I could come pick up my items. I returned the phone call and found out that I HAD to physically come back to the store within 24 hours to pick up any items they didn't want and to receive my credit for the items they wanted to keep. There is no other option. I explained that I was 30 minutes away (and I actually had to be out of town that day) and could they just let me know how much they were buying? No, they would not offer that information over the phone. So I rearranged my work trip schedule to add an extra hour on the road to drive to Georgetown and back, only to find out they were only offering to buy ONE item, at less than $2. So that likely didn't even cover my gas to drive there and back twice. If I had known, I wouldn't have even bothered to go back and pick up my items, which ended up going in the convenient clothes donation bin located behind the store in the parking lot.

Store is small so bulky items like cribs are not accepted. If you have a large item, call ahead to gauge interest. Bring your driver's license. This was my first time selling with them (any location) but the process was fairly straightforward. The employees could have been a bit more helpful (especially since I was struggling to drag multiple large items into the doorway) but they were easy to interact with and mostly pleasant. HOW IT WORKS: You bring your stuff. If it's in bags or bins of clothes/toys -- they limit it to two items per selling session. You scan the QR code on the counter and fill out the online form to register. They call your name and check you in. They give you a time estimate and you can either leave or stay in the store. You get a text message when your stuff has been reviewed. Note: they can only hold your stuff for about a day (24 hours, I believe) so plan accordingly. You come back and they tell you what they would like to buy and how much they will offer you for it. You can accept either cash or credit (same amount, you don't get more for choosing credit, like at Buffalo Exchange). Credit only makes sense if you're buying something else on the spot. They also return anything they don't want. Note: if you want to be in and out as fast as possible, get there 10-15 minutes before they open and wait outside the door so you can be first in line to sell. I've come several times at 10am and there's always someone there already. PURCHASE RATE: They took most of what I brought. I brought 2 large containers of clothes and toys and they took about 90% of it. I had already filtered to try to pull out anything damaged but I'm still very pleased with how much they bought. It also depends on their current inventory. I noticed they had a few baby carriers in stock -- assuming they will pay less or reject them altogether. PAYOUT: For used clothes, it won't be that high. Obviously, depends on brand and condition too. Same for other items. For instance, I brought a Baby Bjorn Bouncer (Bliss) in a discontinued color (clean, great condition, toy bar included). About $300 value originally. They offered me about $30. Not as much as I could get if I really invested effort in selling it online but not bad. Regarding my two aforementioned containers of clothes and toys, they paid $50. I had a few brand new (with tags) items so I feel like the payout was higher than usual. BULKY ITEMS: Please note that this store is pretty cramped and stuffed full of items for sale. They put their strollers outside but the inside doesn't leave much room for bulky items. As a result, they don't accept cribs. They might accept other large items depending on brand, whether it folds, condition, and what they currently have in stock. I saw a pack and play there but they may only have room for one at a time. It doesn't hurt to call and ask if you've got a large item and don't want to lug it in unnecessarily. They did accept a Regalo playpen I brought in (it did fold up though). PARKING: It's in a strip mall so parking is easy. Ultimately, I'm just happy to pass on my stuff (and keep it out of the landfill) and make a few bucks in the process.
