This Macy's has a staffing problem, as well as a customer service issue. It's honestly a hit or miss. Checking out should not take more than 5 minutes. I was in line waiting to check out, but the person working was taking too much time with the person in front. A line formed and after 15 minutes I was still in line waiting. I typically don't mind waiting, but there was no acknowledgement from the associate. She didn't call for back up and that's what upset me. It's an anchor store and you'd think they'd fully staff the building. Finally a lady from down the other end yelled "I can take you over here." So I go over and then her manager said "can you help this person." So what does she do. She helps the other person, when clearly she called over multiple people to help out. read more

I thought they were simply being discriminatory towards my mom because she's got a thick accent and older but after reading the other reviews clearly this is an equally bad service provider. They women at the perfume completely blew off my mom when she was asking about a particular perfume. She got mad and lef without sating a word. I to mad walked right back in confronted another sales associate about the other woman's behavior and lo and behold we couldn't have been serviced faster. Macy's says returns for online orders are free. Until you go to the UPS store and they make you buy the packaging. Macy's refuses to own that they make us buy the packaging. I was told to put it in a plastic for a return. I don't have a plastic bag. That Macy's supplies free returns is a lie. read more

This has become my favorite Macy's because they have the best selection during clearance sales. I always seem to find a great new outfit for a decent price. This Macy's is horrible! First of all, they do not carry many of the designer brands. Secondly, the women's clothing dept. looks like it was hit with a tornado! KMart is better organized. After that disaster, I headed over to the Bobbi Brown makeup counter. After waiting for a long time to make my purchase, the sales associate looked at me and continued on with what he was doing. I would of been better off going right down route 83 to Nordstrom. Lesson learned. read more

Wow, Is Macy's serious? It appears to me that this example of the suburbanization of the Macy's model lacks any semblance of gravitas. Perhaps the corporate office needs a tax write off. The men's shoe department is a joke-a few various display models with no inventory. Not even a size 10 converse Chuck Taylor. And the woman in the shoe department acted as if I asked her to do a strip tease for me when I inquired about the likelihood of getting some assistance. I stopped in after the horrible experience I had at Ulta. I went to the Lancome counter to see when they would be doing the Lancome gift and lo and behold they were! I was was a little skeptical at first but the consultant was very patient and helpful. I went home with three new products and a whole bag full of fun freebies. In a pinch this store usually does the trick, but for more serious shopping I'm not sure if this is up to the challenge. They have basic selections of most products, but given the smaller size of this store compared to the other nearby locations is not as nearly as extensive. As others commented, it seems there are way too many items located on clearance racks which are disorganized. Granted if you are willing to dig through the rack, you might score some good deals as I have in their men's section. It's not the best Macy's location I have been too, but again does the trick in a pinch. read more

No bueno. I have never been a fan of Macy's but certain locations hold a level of nostalgia for me when they were Marshall Fields and I would go there as a kid. This location is not one of those and I don't see myself having a need to come back here. The store is way too small, the selection is next to nothing and the associates are just plain rude, with one expection of a fab girl who helped me with a pair of sunglasses. I have never shopped at Macy's for clothing. It's usually been for make up or purses. Well the purse selection here is a small cluster f@$& with nothing to offer. There's a small DB section and a Coach counter. Thats about it for the area of designer bags and all the other.stuff is nothing I would consider buying, just not my style. On the off chance I do find anything, it's about 5 times what I would ever pay for it. My latest trip here was out of need. Earlier in the day I got a purse at the Macy's in Oakbrook and realized it was more of an impulse purchase that I didn't need and wasn't evem sure I really liked. So I headed here to get my money back. I walk in around 8pm and see 3 associates. 2 are talking up a storm about personal issues. They stare at me and keep talking. The 3rd associate seems to be in her own world and is wandering aimlessly around the register. I go up the register, under the huge "customer service" sign and let her know I have a return. She didn't seem happy that I pulled her out of her day dream. The way this woman was inspecting my return, you would think I was looking for cash on a $2000 purse with no receipt. I had everything. The tags, the receipt, hell the bag was still wrapped from the other store. I finally got my money back and was sent on my way. No "thank you" or "have a nice night". I got nothing. Well on my way I went with a vow to not come back. After feeling interrogated over an item I didn't like and given the once over by everyone I saw, I think there are plenty of other stores with better selection and service that I can shop at instead. read more

This macy's is convinient and has everything I need! Today was a very sad day for me I decided to go into macy's to do some "retail therapy". I was greeted promptly by several associates from different areas before making my way to cosmetics. I love this cosmetics department! Clean, organized, and all the girls are just so lovely. The one I had been working with could tell it was a bad day for me. She gave me a complimentary skin care consultation and even spruced up my makeup. Before leaving she assured me she added me to their client base so she could call me for free gifts and events! I have never felt more special during a shopping trip! Thank you Macy's! read more

I often come to this Macy's, because of excellent customer service. Last night, I ran to Macy's to purchase a jacket. The layout of the store can be confussing at times, but a cashier immediately gave me directions. Upon making my selection, I had two sales representatives that immediately assisted me and gave me an additional 20 percent off my item if I used my Macy's card. As I passed the handbag department, there was another friendly sales representative offering me assistance. I made it to the shoe department and had great service again. My only complaint was Donna in the handbad department. After purchasing my shoes, I decided to buy the purse that I contemplated. I went to the register where Donna was stationed and she stared at me with detest and nasitly said, "I'm closed." Her tone and demeanor was highly unprofessional. I informed my companion and he immediately approached her said that her tone and manners was unprofessional. She said go to another register. He corrected her and said, "could you please go to another register?" We could tell that she was eager to leave and didn't care how she addressed us. He then said, "we will contact corporate and inform them of your unpleasant demeanor." Although I wanted to leave the purse, I know that associates are generally friendly, supportive and kind. I found the original representative that not only greeted with warmth again, but she gave me an additional 20 percent off without me telling her of the Donna episode. I live in Chicago and don't mind driving to Macy's in Bolingbrook. Selection of products are good, there is always a deal and most of the associates are great. read more

I'm torn about writing this review. I came here on Black Friday with my mom and my sister. Usually on Black Friday Macy's is crazy and crowded and a nightmare. Walking in here it was empty, I think we saw maybe ten other people. Nothing was out of stock, it was a totally unreal Black Friday experience. Then we got in line. The line wasn't long when we got in, there were maybe three people in front of us. However, we were probably standing there for over a half hour. It was absolutely ridiculous. I'm not sure if the cashier didn't know what she was doing, or new, or whatever but that line gave us that taste of Black Friday that no one was looking for. read more

Seriously.........why do they keep Macy's in Bolingbrook open???? Nobody, nobody is ever at the Origins counter. I have to look for a sales associate from another department and they have no clue where the product is kept, so we are searching, unlocking every cabinet. This happens EVERY time. So tonight was a total strike out!! I enter Macy's, head straight to the parfum counter for my "Angel". I'm told there is no such thing as a "refill bottle" and I could only refill from their "refill station", keep forgetting the name of the the big missile sitting on the counter. I've been wearing Angel since it first launched and I always purchase the refill bottle and gift sets. I have never had a refillable bottle filled "in-store", only because I have no idea how long it's been there. These sales associates need to be informed on what is available and have knowledge about new products etc... There is a "new" refill bottle available now and I'm being told "there is no such thing"! So strike one...NO ANGEL! I walk over to Origins counter and AGAIN no sales associate so the person trying to help me from a DIFFERENT DEPARTMENT tells me .... NO LINEN 03 foundation, strike two, NO ALL OR NOTHING POWDER....... strike three. Ok, so next stop......MAC counter. NO BLANC TYPE shadow, ......strike four!!!!! By now I'm really pissed! Overall I really like Macy's BUT Sunglass Hut left me with no desire to ever shop for sunglasses at that location. Went on a Monday evening 7pm or earlier, not busy at all but the gentleman at the sunglass counter was too busy on his cell phone to acknowledge our presence. Looked around for a bit and asked for a mirror and the tone in his response was one with annoyance. I had to ASK him for assistance and had to pry to attention away from his phone. I did end up buying a pair sunglasses just because it was something my mother who is disabled and was with me really needed. Such a poor experience and very disappointed. This review is specifically for the service counter near Jones New York women's dress suit collection area, which is the one on the left side if you walk in from the door that faces Boughton Road. I bought a Jones New York dress suit 3 pieces at Oak Brook store 2 days ago, since the jacket is too big so I went to the macy's store on the Boughton Road to do an even exchange for one size smaller because this store is closer to my home. But the short lady works on that counter REFUSED to do it, the reason she gave me is that the sale's tax at Oak Brook is lower than Bolingbrook's, she won't do it unless I pay the difference of $1 or took back to Oak Brook. This is absolutely ridicules and unacceptable!!!!! I have done many times of exchange of merchandise at same stores chain located at different locations before, This is the first in my life I was refused to do even exchange at Macy's. What a shame to your inferior service! What a shame for Macy's at this location to hire an employee who is such unreasonable to their customers. Please avoid this store, there is one at Oak Brook which is bigger and another one at Fox Valley Mall in Aurora which is near by as well, both have better service than this one in Bolingbrook. read more

I stopped by today to pick somethings up from MAC. Upon walking in, it was not very busy. It took a consultant about ten minutes before greeting me. I understand that if its busy you cannot greet everyone, but it was not busy at all. Finally after another ten to fifteen minutes someone actually came to help me pick something out. The consultant didn't really listen to me and didn't really speak up often and give me suggestions or anything. And when i did pick something out i waited for her to come back over to grab it for me but i looked back and she was cleaning other stands and talking to another consultant. So, since I was kind of in a hurry I had to bother another consultant to get it for me. Usually, I love MAC. But I think from now on I'll just buy my products online so I don't have to wait for a consultants help or attention, I suppose. read more

Place is a nightmare. Women's departments and Junior clothing are like a flea market. I was amazed and appalled at the carnage. Selected a few items and eventually found a cashier - system was down and rebooting and cashier was amid transaction with mom and daughter ahead of me. System was slow coming up, store was hot, my arms were full so I said I'd just sit "there" to wait. Meanwhile line forms and she lets me know system is back up, I walk the 8 feet to the desk and she proceeds to wait on lady who arrived after me. I said EXCUSE ME, lady rolls her eyes and tells the cashier to go ahead and take care of me as she announces she isn't that petty. I sigh. Transaction completed. Arrive home and find one item has the sensor on it and there's a pair of Calvin Klein jeans in the bag that were not chosen by me. This Macy's is 20 miles from my house and I'll never go there again ever. Instead I'll go 25 miles in the opposite direction to Northbrook - cleaner, more floor space, courteous sales people and doesn't look like a bargain basement. read more

I purchased a necklace and didn't realize it had a defective clasp. Kimberly went way beyond the call of duty, searched for a suitable match and took time to highly satisfy her customer. Earlier that day I called Macy's in Aurora and got nowhere, only to be told I could purchase another sterling silver chain as I purchased this on sale. What?? I've seen difficult employees before , but never to where I cared to talk about it. Im aware that people have bad days , or personal things goin on , so I generally ignore employee attitudes , and continue to be friendly - occasionally throwing in a joke to cheer them up. However , I recently visited the MAC counter in Macy's Bolingbrook Promenade ( Illinois ) and witnessed a horrible display of professionalism. I decided to find out the employees name - which was ( Tracy ) because I was so upset. I never had the need to write a complaint before , but I could not help but do so. Here's the story ( June 15 , 2012 about 4:30pm ) 2 girls working the counter , both have a customers that they are putting make up on , at those lighted mirrors as I walked up. There are 3 other costumers ahead of me - the one MAC girl ( Tracy ) is commanding the other employee to help everyone walking up ( 4 other customers ) , me being one of them , while she ( Tracy ) calmly continues helping a single person. After seeing this one employee be mistreated and helping 4 others already , I decided to ask ( Tracy ) for help , and she rudely directed me to the other girl already helping 4 others. She even semi raised her voice in a very cocky tone at the other girl , for not helping fast enough - I will not return to this location due to this uncomfortable experience - I waited around for an additional 15-20 minutes and the ( Tracy ) girl continued to only help 1 person the entire time. I was there for over 30 mins total , and it was very unpleasant. I feel really sorry for the young blonde girl getting bullied around. I don't know if ( Tracy ) was the manager of this counter , but if so - POOR DECISION Macy's / MAC - this girl should not be working with public or be any ones boss if she can't handle helping at least one extra person - I wish I got that blonde girls name , because she took all that abuse without a single bad look , I could not have done that , and she deserves a big hug for dealing with that while at work. read more

Okay this review is about working at Macy's. Macy's is an awesome place to shop at but not the best to work at. The store manager and her little minions are the worst management people and are rude at times. For example, when I had to go to school I asked the manager if I could miss that one day and he said no we need you here. I told I had to go and still he didn't want to let me go. My school comes before this crappy job seriously who do they think they are. Also just before my schedule isn't that great right now because I'm in school they give me the crappiest hours anybody could have. Ever since I applied here and got the job they put me to close. I was shopping on Dec 24th and was looking for a Columbia 3 in 1 coat. Going to the men winter coats asking for help. One sale service said I have no idea but in this area and pointed to the winter coats.. DUD....I tried to look myself but running short on time wanted help. I think I am paying for customer service when I shop in Macy's. I found another sales person and asked him and he said he had no idea except to point to the nens coat area.. DUD..He would find someone that knew.. Never back and went and stood visiting with other sales people at the register. I did find one on my own and got it but with customer service I won't pay that price. Same coat at Kohls for 2.00 more and well worth the 2.00 i would of paid. I had a coupon that was given to me by a sales person the day before. it was only 20%.. and I had used it twice this day.. I went to women and she refuse to except it I let her know I used it at two other departments same day just minutes and she said it was expired and not worth her low paying job.
