Well, I do realize there's a huge Nordstrom downtown and another one at old Orchard and Schaumburg. I absolutely love the one in Oakbrook Center. I've been coming here for several decades since they opened and I've always really enjoyed this place. It is unfortunate that the Nordstrom's had taken away the live piano player which I thought brought some really great ambience and differentiated them in the market. However, this Nordstrom is definitely well stocked all year-round and carries a heck of a lot more product than the Woodfield or the Skokie location. Also, what I love about Nordstrom even after all these years is that they are very well staffed. No matter where you go in the store there's always someone willing and ready to help. I think it also helps because the Nordstrom sales staff is in fact incentivized. Over the years, the store has also changed, especially with the offerings from the café coffee shop restaurant, etc. However, when they first opened, I was in my teens if not early 20s and that particular section of the store always had some of the best selection. What is going on. I'm from a Nordstroms family. I go in to get a nice shirt - No Bueno. Ten years ago I bought a Nordstroms travel shirt. It was one of the best shirts I ever owned, Wish I had bought five more. Today I wouldn't wear Any shirt I saw in the Whole Place. My Grandfather bought his suits here the would take me for a Guinness in the Pub. I emulate his style. After I went to Von Maur and found everything I needed in forty-five minutes. I don't know if the buyers have lost their minds? I want to look like a man and no I will not spend a Thousand Bucks on a pair of dress shoes. Get I together- this is Nordstroms. You never know who you are buying from! You'd expect an upscale, overpriced establishment like Nordstrom would hire only the best to guide you in your purchase. Unfortunately, one of the employees who sells shoes at Oakbrook Nordstrom should be in court & then jail for verbal assault, harassment, & bullying! The guy wears glasses, is overweight, short, & balding. He & his other short, bald friend at Lifetime Gym have bulled me several times; OBPD has multiple reports on file about these guys as does Lifetime. They have made my life at the gym a living hell as they have also recruited their other gym friends to bully me. This guy who sells shoes has come up to me at Viola, while I'm having dinner, and continued to harass me outside the gym. I suspect both he and his friends are insecure about their appearance & take it out on someone who is not insecure. I also happen to be bronze and tan, and I suspect racism is at play as well. Being a brain doctor I can say with assurance that his smoking and alcohol addictions, which are on full display at the gym and Viola, have made his frontal lobes less likely to put the breaks on his emotional, limbic brain that likes to lash out when insecurities surface. Does Nordstrom do criminal background checks? Maybe run your background checks annually; you seem to have missed this belligerent, uncouth, bully!! read more

The store was beautifully decorated for the holidays! My daughter was interested in finding a new signature cologne/perfume . Nella assisted her in a professional, patient manner. She was specifically looking for a Jo Malone perfume. Nella explained to us about a fragrance wardrobe and scent layering. Jo Malone's philosophy is to have scents designed to blend well with each other, so they can be layered . The entire experience was personal and helpful. First time coming here, me and my wife were shopping here to look at a few things. This place has three full floors to check out. For men is just the first floor primarily. They have restrooms on each of the floors as well that are clean and very well maintained. This place has a great selection of clothes and accessories. The second and third floor have direct access to the rest of the mall. Price point is pretty steep even after the discount prices that they might offer. Have always enjoyed shopping here. My experience is always priceless. Pretty crowded today, I'm sure it's because of the holiday weekend. I had to take a number in the lady's shoe section. When my number was called on the mic, I was instructed to raise my hand and someone would be over to assist me. Found a really cool pair of leather mules; black leather with silver studs. Nice, cute and comfy. After five other numbers were called, it was my turn. The young lady assisting me grabbed my size, but the mule was a black suede. She suggested that I try it on just to be sure the size was right. It was. She went to get the right style. Upon returning she asked if I wanted to try it on and I declined. Saw on the box that it was a 7.5 so I was good. My husband was able to get the Hokas he wanted without any wait. On to the next store. I never put anything away till the next day. I took my shoes out of the box and noticed how big they appeared. Tried them on and noticed they were the wrong size. There was a size 8.5 in a 7.5 box. Oh boy. Put the receipt inside the box, put the box in the bag and put it by the door downstairs. My husband and I returned to Nordstrom. No wait this time. Without any issues, I received my right size shoe. Horrible experience in the dress department. Department was a mess. Dresses were not zipped, buttoned, and hung haphazardly. Dresses weren't in order according to size. Sales people were totally unhelpful even after I called to make an appointment and explained some special needs re fit. So disappointing. My wife and I have been looking for strollers and car seats, and were recommended by friends and family to check out some of the products at Nordstrom. There is a ton of baby stuff out there, so we have been overwhelmed with all the things we have seen thus far. The staff at Nordstrom were very helpful in answering our questions and allowing us to try all the different models. The Uppababy Vista was our favorite, and they gave us a tutorial of how to operate the different controls and buttons. THE Lingerie departments staff is knowledgeable of product and helpful at finding a correct fit/ comfort& style for the customer. The Sales consultant provided good information on a correct fitting. I wanted to give kudos to the lovely lady working in the baby department on March 1 at around 3 pm. My wife and I were researching baby car seats and strollers, and she was accommodating. We were playing with the Nuna strollers to help us decide which one we wanted. Also, we were looking at the Nuna car seats. She kept coming over and talking with us and sharing knowledge of this brand. It helped us decide exactly which model car seat and strollers we will buy in the near future. I am glad Nordstrom had a lot of strollers and car seats on display. We have been having issues finding Nuna-branded baby gear or, if we found a store, they would only carry one of them. read more

This rating is for the Tom Ford counter in Nordstrom's. We decided on one of the fragrances and when we went to pay, the cost was almost $500! We asked the salesperson if there was the smaller size available as we weren't interested in the large one. Mind you, they never asked what size just automatically charged us for the much more expensive one. They said there was only the large size due to being busy season. We said that we didn't wish to proceed with the purchase then and guess what? Miraculously a smaller bottle appeared from the same drawer there were supposedly none for sale. This is a terrible business practice and I will never return here again to shop for fragrances. Also no samples were offered. Dishonest! read more

After entering the fragrance department, the male that was there to help others, had his shirt unbuttoned halfway down and was extremely unprofessional. Was there to hit on people not sell. Most of the females that were there were only there to sell, regardless of what you were asking for. One of them literally insulted what I already previously liked, which was the boxer at 5:40 perfume. One of the vendors that was there was extremely nice and helpful And did anything and everything in her power to keep me as a customer. I had THE MOST pleasant experience in the Cosmetic Department with GiGi at the Armani Counter. She was so patient, kind, extremely knowledgeable, warm & personable. Such a cool store! I had a great experience with this Nordstrom. We came to this Nordstrom- virtually. I signed up for a virtual consultation with a fashion merchandiser, and got some clothes! So here's what happened- you can reserve a thirty minute consultation over Zoom with a real life person. They send you a questionnaire to get a handle for what your tastes are like, what kinds of outfits you're looking for, what styles and brands you're into. Then, we met up online with Christina, who did a great job of asking the right questions, making the proper points. She knew the brands we had put in the questionnaire, and was familiar with the styles and colors. Then, she drew up a series of 'style boards' which was a set of pictures and links to various designers and outfits. She had her comments at the top of each 'board.' It was like she sort of made her own Pinterest board for us, with recommendations that she knew came in the right sizes. Afterwords, our rep followed up with us to make sure we were happy. We're awaiting the package of the clothes now to see how it all worked out, but I can already tell that this is a great experience. It's a great way to shop in a pandemic, while still having that personalized touch. read more

Don't shop here for shoes on a weekend: department was insane and we got matched with a guy who kept calling us "my dear" and also didn't seem interested in listening to what we were looking for. My friend (who wears a large size but is a shoe fanatic) was particularly irritated because Nordstrom is her store for shoe shopping and this guy basically just blew her off. I was annoyed too because it was like he only listened to one aspect of what I wanted (the color) and nothing else. If you don't have it you don't have it, but don't bring nonsense because you didn't pay attention. So many products, too many choices. Lady Gigi knew what I need, I don't know how but she suggested, I listened and I am more than happy with my GA purchase. I love when sales lady listen for what I need and with best interest she makes choices for me. I hate when I feel that they just wanna sell me random things just for their profit and they are soooo pushing that I just don't feel good. It is not case with those two ladies. They will recommend, explain and leave decisions up to you. Very simple and very efficient. I love it. Jo Malone is always great choice. Great for layering. Clean scented and very easy to wear. You leave feeling very judged and uncomfortable after the transaction is done. I love Nordstrom but I've been sending more and more things back in the mail and not shopping in the store because although their new renovations look beautiful, the service desk is pathetic. You took away a huge counter for returns on the first floor and made a 2 person desk on the second floor?!? Why?! I'm currently standing in a line of 8 people and it's taking forever, per usual. For a place that prides itself on customer service - this is not top notch. Macy's has the same set up with 4-5 people, not 2! Come on, you're better than this! One star because of Nordstrom using the delivery service "UDS". Unfortunately, I am about to stop ordering from Nordstrom.com since this is now the third issue I am having with this TERRIBLE excuse of a "delivery company". A simple google search will show you the exasperating number of 1 star reviews for this delivery service. Filed an official complaint with Nordstrom today and will no longer order anything from them unless item(s) has the option to be picked up at their store in a day or two. Won't risk future orders being delivered by UDS. The store itself is great...but customer service goes hand in hand with online customers receiving orders in a timely manner without their packages being thrown at their doorstep...along with, you know, actually RECEIVING their purchases. read more

Enter 3rd floor accessories and handbags, designer collections, and shoes. To date, I've spent countless dollars and what seems like an infinite amount of hours in this Nordstrom. I've found that it can be pretty difficult if your not a wasp-y mother of 3 to get the attention of a sales associate unless you're in shoes. In which case, I can recommend a shoe angel, named Eric Hansen. Eric is an older gentlemen who is quick on his feet and eager to help... more so than the other employees at this location. Eric has assisted me with a number of finds including my gifts for mother's day and few treats for myself. Eric has my shoe size memorized and is so on top of his game that he could be my very own shoe stylist. I am LOYAL Nordstrom customer. I've been living in Seattle for the past seven years and have benefited from awesome customer service in the store's hometown and headquarters. I just recently moved back east. I visited the store in Oakbrook and was less than impressed. My critique is specific to the Jo Malone counter. I waited a while for service because the counter was very busy when I arrived. That's not what disappointed me. What did disappoint me was the feeling of being a nuisance to the staff. Like I said, I am a loyal customer and have spent a lot of money over the years in Nordstrom (current level 3 customer). The sales associated seemed more interested in other people in the store, seemed irritated when I was asking about different fragrance matches, and tried to convince me to buy large sizes of different products even though I share numerous times that I travel weekly and prefer smaller sizes that meet travel restrictions. She also seemed to want to be done with me.. maybe that's why she suggested not to wrap my fragrance in a box. Disappointing Nordstrom!! Maybe I've gotten spoiled by the consistently amazing experience I had in Seattle. read more

5 stars. Only the second business to earn such honors from this Yelper... Well, the story goes.... My older sis woke up one morning about 2 months ago and decided that she was gonna "jump the broom." She calls me up with this information and shares her vision for the theme - "Christmas at the Oscars". My response, "Okay?" She then tells me that, "as the Matron of Honor I am to wear a sexy, black evening gown with a thigh-high, side split." Again, my response, "Okay??" My days are SUPER LONG, I have a horrible commute, and I haven't had time to shop. The wedding is on Dec. 23rd! So, on a whim, I walked in Nordstrom last night and shared my story with Jackie, my new personal shopper. After a hearty chuckle and some witty alliteration, she started grabbing dresses. God has blessed me in lots of ways - two of my blessings sit on my chest and make shopping a chore. Well, Jackie took this as a challenge and in 30 minutes she had found the perfect dress, the necessary shapewear, and shoes. All at a price point that didn't make my heart stop! Only thing missing was hair and makeup and I woulda been ready to go! I could even hear her giving updates to my hubby who was patiently waiting - how sweet!
