Today is November 18th this frauds didn't refund my $202.99 back and when i emailed them on November 17th some piece of work replied that it's been 6 days they received it. Service during these times can be disappointing. However, at this location I can't say that. I called and Christian answered, very pleasant, checked for the coat I wanted and put it behind counter for me. Asked my name and told me the item would be there. I arrived was greeted pleasantly, tried on the coat and purchased it. Selection was excellent a large variety of trendy fashions. Excellent price the value was perfect for my budget they honored the price shown online which some places will tell you they cannot. There was also another young person who I can't remember their name but they had on a fly outfit. Both of these young people exhibited exemplary customer service. I placed two orders, both were delayed and were items that I planned on wearing for wedding as part of the bridal party. I wanted to return items but did not want to pay handling fee due to the delay. There is no way to communicate with a human being, so I am now stuck with paying for their issue. Also, I never received one of the shipping labels and when I input the order number to retrieve the QR code, I receive a message that it cannot be returned. he clothes are cheaply made, and if you order online, you can't return items in-store -- only for store credit. I wasn't aware of this when I ordered multiple sizes of a few skirts I liked, and returning them has been nearly impossible. There's no real customer service or way to reach a live person to resolve issues. I even received a defective item, but because it was on sale, they won't accept a return. Overall, a very frustrating experience. I won't be shopping here again due to the poor quality, restrictive policies, and lack of customer support. read more

Upon entering the store the sales associate never acknowledge my presence. I just continue to browse the store to see if something would catch my eye. The display's throughout the store were ok. It just seemed like a whole bunch of clothes were packed into a rack. There were clothes, purses and shoes just laid around. It could of been a little more tidy. I am really unsatisfied with this store. I've bought their clothing three times and every time the quality was HORRIBLE. Twice I got a skirt, and both times it unraveled after wearing it one time. The one that I recently bought was particularly disappointing. It is a white skirt with lack lace detail. I wore it to a club one night, and when I got home I realized how dirty and scummy it looked. There was a hole ripped in the side. The worst part is I had already purchased the skirt and had to exchange it because when I got home I realized there was a sizable hole in the lace. I took the skirt (with tags that I kept and receipt) to see if they could amend somehow, but because I had already worn it they said there was nothing they could do. That's fine, but I wasn't impressed by the employees' attitude. Especially the manager. Bottom line: Cute clothes. Horrible quality. You should shop here if you want to overpay for clothes that will rip or unravel after wearing them one time. read more

I've only purchased from Akira twice, and I realize I'm not the typical Akira customer, but I was drawn to their eclectic clothing style. I made a purchase from the store in Schaumburg and exchanged the item in Oakbrook, and because the item still did not work out, I needed to return it, so I returned it to the store at Oakbrook. I have never in my life experienced the most despicable customer service from a retailer's cashier and then the manager. Since I was not entirely familiar with the return policy, other than you have to return the item within 14 days for a store credit, I had a simple question about the store credit: how was it issued? Do I get a credit slip? Do I get a credit to my membership account? The cashier only focused on the 14-day no cash back part of the return policy. She was not trying to hear the simple question I was asking and started tapping on the return policy printed and posted at the cash register. She said I needed to read the policy again, and it's at the manager's discretion how they want to handle the store credit. I said I can't read; I'm literate, so can you please explain how the credit is issued? She said, let me get a manager for you. The manager came with the utmost attitude, and it was clear to me then that this was their standard level of customer service. I asked the manager for her name and she replied, I don't have to give you my name, she turned around and said to the cashier, "give her the credit so she can get out of the store and go shop somewhere else". I stood there in utter disbelief at this treatment. I said this all because I asked about how credits are issued. I was totally shocked. When I walked in the store early afternoon on a non-crowded day, I was ignored. I was not spoken to until 5 minutes of me being in the store. I was not assisted since I only had an exchange because that didn't seem like a potential sale that would benefit them. It seemed transactional. I had to place myself in a fitting room after looking around and no one available for any questions, size checks, etc. Upon entering the fitting room, I asked my associate if she could grab an item for me and she continued to help the person next to me. Which was fine but not when I was waiting thinking she was going to get the item. Tonight I brought my daughter shopping for her 8th grade dance and graduation. Akira has the most trendy clothes with reasonable prices. It was a pleasure buying her outfits there because it didn't break my bank. Another thing I would like to add is the manager, Araceli, and Assistant manager, Naty, were beyond helpful and wow what customer service! We were there for hours and they just kept bringing my daughter clothes to try on. I literally felt like we had our own personal shoppers. The employees were very rude and were talking shit about previous customers in front of the customers that were checking out. They took forever to check me out because there were busy talking shit. She didn't even take off the alarms from my clothes that I was purchasing and so I had to go back once my alarm sounded and she quickly opened the bag and said you're good but the alarm ran again and told someone to check it out and I did have an alarm because she didn't take off not one. It took me a whole 20 minutes to just get out of that store. Poor customer service and this was a weird experience since I always go to AKIRA but my visit this time was bad. read more

I'm sad it's taking me this long to right a review about this Akira location, but this one is AWESOME. The store has a great selection, it's always nicely organized, and most importantly every sales associate I've personally worked with as been so great and helpful! I love coming here because I'm terrible at picking out clothes and putting together outfits. They make it so easy here, the give you great options and their helpful, honest opinions! I forget the gal who helped me out a few months ago, but she styled me up amazingly for my engagement shoot (photo) and I just left tonight with some awesome dresses and some casual wear with the help of Monica. I never write reviews especially negative ones, but I had to with this specific Akira since it's not the first time this happens to me there. I was completely ignored by multiple employees (or at least not noticed since 2 employees were too busy gossiping). I was in the store for about 30 minutes, walked all around the store and I was never approached by I think the 5 employees who were working? The most upsetting part of this all is that IT WASNT BUSY. The store looked messy ( yes that's Akira's aesthetic ) but this store just looked like things were placed anywhere. I'd much rather travel longer to go to the Woodfield or downtown locations than shop and give rude employees a commission. Don't waste your time at this Akira. read more

So usually I love Akira because of their great sales associates/stylist. When I walked in I was ignored. Had to ask for a dressing room and NO ONE checked on me. The store wasn't busy at all, so I was feeling pretty crappy that no one cared to help me. A few other customers walked in the store and they were greeted and asked if they needed assistance. The only difference between myself and the other customers is I had my two young kids with me. One of the worst Akira's I've ever been to. No one greeted us the entire time we shopped, no one was watching the fitting rooms, so you just walked in and hoped it was ok. The alarm censors kept going off as people left the store, never saw a store attendant address it. So my wife needed an outfit for a night out in the town and we went to Oakbrook mall and stumbled into Akira in Oakbrook and was greeted by the sales women Araceli. My wife's initial reaction was I like her and her outfit she was wearing. I responded "ohhhhh yeah me too" and then I got the look lol!!! We initially went in to buy one outfit for her with a budget of $125 but ended spending over $350 plus. Araceli really quickly understood my wife style and was able to show outfits that were bad ass and that my wife had to have. I contacted Akira via phone and email a week ago from today. I received an email that they will be looking to resolve my issue and someone from their staff will be contacting me. I have yet to receive a call but they were quick to take my money. I am a young single mother and I can not afford to have a bad experience in a clothing store that refuses to refund my money or return my call. They haven't even returned an email since they lied about someone contacting me. The manager of the Oakbrook location failed to communicate the return and refund policy to me. I feel I should be refunded my money because of negligence. The integrity of this company is awful and it comes off as snobbish. I will no longer shop in a store that forces customers to spend their hard-earned money. If I am forced to spend my money, and the issue is not resolved this will be the last dime I spend in a rude customer service merchant. read more

I should start by saying that normally I am used to Akira employee's coming up to me while I shop and asking if I need a fitting room (taking the clothes I've picked so far to the fitting room) and asking what I'm shopping for as well as suggesting other items that may fit the occasion. Yesterday when I walked in not only was I ignored, even when I asked for help it felt like I was bothering the employee's and taking away from their personal conversations since they were pretty much just chatting themselves and ignoring customers. After I asked for a fitting room and tried my clothes on I couldn't find what I was looking for... I went up to one of the associates and told them the couple of things that I was looking for, clearly ready to buy because I just needed the other piece to complete the look... got a little help with basically them saying; we don't have anything. Had they actually tried, I wouldn't of written this review but the service was so minimal that I went elsewhere and gave that store my money. So this is now my favorite Akira. My style preferences are normally hard to satisfy; whenever working with a sales associate to pull clothes.Every time I come here I am greeted by the same wonderful stylist Monica. Once I entered the store she greeted me, very friendly demeanor, I gave her a couple ideas of what I was looking for and a few mins later she had a dressing room ready with several of her picks. Normally when associates pick things I never like them but I ended up getting a few of the things I picked and a few of hers. She made me feel like I was shopping with a friend instead of some bored or over-bearing sales rep. You can tell that everyone works together with the same goal of customer satisfaction in mind. Monica even took the time to get some background info about me to help tailor my experience. Every time I go back she remembers my name and things we talked about before. I recently drop94 pounds and I'm very shy about my body so to say the least I was nerves going into a store that's considered to be design for smaller shape women but I decided to try Akira. Upon my first time visiting Akira a young lady who I found out right away name was Monica because she greeted me with the biggest most beautiful smile and made me feel so comfortable I had no clue as to what style would look great on me but she worked with me and took her time and helped me find the perfect dress for my body type. My experience was so awesome but to top it off she remembered a month later that is was my birthday and contacted me with a happy birthday and said "I know it's your birthday in 3 days and I would love to work with you again". I was so impressed that she remembered me and I felt so special that she remembered my birthday, talk about going above and beyond her job title.
