    I don't think I have to say this, but this place is expensive! There are $200 running shoes where you can go several miles up the street, and the running store has them for only $140! This is also a bougie place (my word of the week, haha). It's a large department store and extremely well lit/bright. For such a large store, there's not many employees. The bathrooms can be hard to find. I recommend it here vs. the food courts6 (yuck). The women's bathroom is on the lower levels, and the men's is on the top floor. The staff I interacted with have been friendly, but I see them get frustrated with some of the clientele. Too bad none of the men's clothes don't fit me. Everything here runs large and boxy. Maybe that's a good thing because it saves me a lot of money, haha.

    My husband and I were at Yorktown Center. As we were in the mall part, I had to use the bathroom. I found the bathroom in the mall, near the Christmas tree horribly disgusting. We were right next to Von Maur. We went into the store to use their bathroom. It was very nice, large, and clean. The rest of the store was clean and elegant. It is very nicely decorated for the holidays. I highly recommend Von Maur at Yorktown Center!

    This was my first time visiting a Von Maur department store and it reminds me of a Neiman Marcus that I frequent in Northbrook Court. This store carries both expensive, designer brand items and affordable items as well. There was a pianist playing in the first floor area which sets a calm and cheerful mood while shopping. Clothes were not messy at all and dressing rooms were clean. There was enough team members on the floor to help assist customers. I didnt have to wander off all over the place to find someone at the cash register. The women's lounge was also very clean. I know weekends can get a little crazy some times but this wasnt the case here at Von Maur. Face masks are still required to enter the building. One of the things I liked about the store is their selection of Free People clothing. I usually don't see much variety at other stores. I was about to find a few pieces of clothing that I liked. Their customer service was great too. I had a couple clothes in my hands and was soon asked if I wanted a fitting room started. I feel like the store has a bit more couches/ chairs laid out on the floor for guys to just sit and wait while their wife/girlfriends shopped lol. Most of those chairs when i was there was occupied by a guy scrolling thru his phone while he waited with shopping bags next to him lol. This store is clean, well organized and exceptional customer service. Perfect place to pick out gifts for someone special.

    Came in to grab a present for my moms birthday coming up. This is her favorite department store and carries her favorite jewelry brand Brighton, so it's always the perfect place to go! Headed right to the jewelry section which actually had changed since the last time I've been here. It was right by the main grand piano on the middle floor. The jewelry brands were labeled nicely in glass display cabinets which made it easy to find the brand I was looking for. A sales associate noticed I was peaking at the bracelets and kindly asked if I needed any help. She suggested some earnings to pair and I ended up snagging some! Both were under $100! She reminded me about the complimentary gift wrap on the 3rd floor and you better believe I took advantage of that! It took 5 minutes for them to wrap my gift and they even let me pick out the paper and ribbon color :) All I had to do was give them my number and they texted me when it was done. Great customer service all around here!

    I love this store! Don't let the piano player in the middle of the store scare you off. They have some really high quality, affordable stuff here! I go straight to the sales rack as they have new stuff added weekly. It's like Nordstrom but better! The store is very organized and clean. If you have a Von Mar card there's NO interest! You just have to pay the minimum! They also have a program that if you spend over $500 in one shopping spree then you can get set up with a 12 month contract of $50 minimum payment to pay off your purchases. Think about Christmas shopping! Every staff member I've encountered were VERY nice and helpful. I now have a "go to gal" named Lucy! I LIKE her a lot that we go to her to ring up our purchases when she's there. They also have free gift wrapping, free alteration, and free shipping too! And if you have your original receipt or gift receipt, you can return/exchange your purchase even if it's a year old! If you're not happy, then they will do whatever they can to make you happy. I had an issue with my coach watch battery, that they sent it out to have it fixed once and still defect. They said let's just replace it for a NEW one, what a new one? Sure! Yes I have a new coach watch! I even exchanged nylons with runs in them! I would go back here for myself, gifts for others and free gift wrapping too!

    So, if you miss Nordstrom service, you need to go to Von Maur. I was in the Oak Brook area and stopped at Von Maur at Yorktown. Casey was a thoughtful person to help me in shoes and Daphne was a genius at Bobbie Brown. Best shopping experience in months.

They lasted a crazy long time given their cost, but after four years they had weird toe prints and scuff marks and ... I needed new sandals. Basic, heeled, strappy black sandals to wear to work and suchlike. Enter: the mall. I started with JC Penney. They had some cute stuff, but most of it was the wrong size or just didn't fit well. Onward. I wandered through a few other stores. Nothing grabbed me. Sorry, Payless, sorry, Naturalizer. Famous Footwear. Hmm. Several options. The staff was friendly and low-pressure as I stood in the middle of the aisle shoving shoes on my feet and walking around. Finally, I hit the jackpot: right size, right color, easy to buckle, fairly comfortable, no obvious blister-inducing rubbing... And, on sale. Score. (Actually, I think this place is always having a sale, but hey, it makes you feel better, right?) Plus I got a coupon good for later in June ... hey, my husband's gonna need new shoes by then! I'm sure I'll continue to shoe-shop-around, but Famous Footwear is definitely landing on the list of places to stop.

Let me say that I had Skechers shoes for many years without any negative issues. On January 7, 2026 I bought 2 pairs of Slip Ins at a Skecher Outlet in Downers Grove, IL. Because of the winter weather and snow, I didn't wear either of them for a couple weeks. So, I am guessing that I wore only 1 pair maybe 6 times, and mostly indoors. I noticed that on the front of one shoe the black color on the trim was peeling off. So, today, February 18, 2026, I brought them to the same location I bought them thinking they would honor a replacement because it was only 6 weeks since they were purchased. I was told "sorry, but that is a case of normal wear". Normal wear for several weeks, mostly indoors? My years old Skecher shoes never peeled once and are still going strong after years of wear. So, obviously the more popular a company gets, the less quality goes in and the price goes up. Beware of buying from an Outlet store, even if they tell you that there is no difference in the quality between a main store and an Outlet store. Update on 3-3-2026 - So, this is how Skechers investigates any issues you may have with your shoe purchase. As opposed to having a store manager investigate the situation, I was told to send both shoes to their investigation department in California. Of course the packaging and shipping fees are on the customer. Don't forget the tracking number they will need. Once they receive the shoes, one of two things will happen. If after the investigation they believe there is an issue with their workmanship, they will send a replacement. If the style is no longer available, you can pick one of equal value or they will select one for you. If they believe that it is normal wear (in my case after only 6 weeks and only several times wearing them), they will NOT return the shoes. So, you are not only out of a pair of shoes, you are out over $80.00 which is what was paid for the shoes. What a racket and I wonder how many people will take the chance, especially when the store manager already told me it is normal wear. Because of the ridiculous investigation method, I went from 2 stars down to 1 ... but it should be none.

After a couple of tries ordering new shoes online without success, it seemed best to go in person to return the second pair of shoes and try on shoes at the store in hopes of getting new shoes that would work without all the back-and-forth. The employees were friendly. Luckily, there weren't many other people in the store at the time we were there. One employee was especially helpful; I was here with someone with mobility issues and the employee was able to identify some types of shoes that might work well, in particular pointing out that some of the shoes we had been looking at might not be comfortable to wear or get into because of the design of the particular shoe and instead pulling some better options. It worked out because we left the store with three pairs of shoes, and he's already remarked on how much more comfortable they are and it's easier than he'd expected to get into the shoes. Very much appreciated the customer service here and the attention we were given.
