I'm a little bummed! This store used to have a really good selection (and pretty large) of women's larger shoes. Perhaps it's just that their merchandise has skewed a bit, but the last couple times I've been here they've had a much smaller section, maybe a single four foot section of shelves dedicated to those sizes. Handbag section is pretty good. They always seem to have a large selection of them and good brands like Tory Burch when I've been in. The place is often busy, though. Their line looks daunting when you get into it and I almost put stuff back but it moves really quickly if they have enough staff since they use a rational queueing system. read more

Severely understaffed at the time I went (7 PM on a weekday). Very long pickup/returns line - completely wiped out the convenience aspect of picking up an online order. Legit a 15+ minute wait to pick up an already-purchased item. Will avoid this location in the future if I continue to order online from Nordstrom Rack. That said, the staff are nice enough, and it might have been a fluke since the line moved quickly once they finished with the customer whose order was causing the holdup. Just wish they staffed appropriately so that in situations like that, another cashier could step in to keep the line moving. read more

There's no logical explanation for failing to write a review given the number of visits I've made to this Nordstrom rack location. As evidenced by the number of check ins, I am pretty successful at snagging some great finds at reasonable prices during almost every visit. Am a great fan of the rack for shoes and purses. I go in and out early in the morning they have big selections of designers items without breaking your wallet. I love the perfume selection they have lip sticks and not to mentions socks. My favorite stirs is Nordstroms in Oakbrook last tax and high selection of designer items. read more

Love the Rack. Where else can you find a great selection of brand names, trendy, fashionable apparel, shoes, bags & sometimes jewelry at a steal? (ok, I can think of a few places). I can easily spend too much money but leave with 10 or more items I actually love. Ever go shopping and feel like you've settled on something because you really needed it, but didn't fall in love? Then regret purchasing cause you found something later you really love? I'm so guilty of this. Rack has so many styles and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for quality, comfort or just because it rocks on you. The best part? You can shop online! Yessss! Love it! And if it doesn't work, just return in store. Same with Hautelook. 90 day return policy is awesome! Can't find your online receipt, they can look up using your email address. Cashier's are helpful and friendly too. This is obviously a double edged sword as I've gotten overly comfortable with online shopping for clothes and now spend hours on their site with multiple large orders.....it really beats shopping in the store. There are many times when I've had to go in store (to return or shop) and its rare if its not a madhouse. I try to steer clear from here on weekends and evenings. It takes time going through racks and yeah, at times its a zoo. Women's shoe aisles can get claustrophobic. Sometimes, I'm on the verge of a panic attack. So yeah, online shopping is GREAT! And don't forget to sign up for their Rewards program. Just use your cell number and you accumulate points on everything you buy! Just started using this. I should have thousands by now! They don't carry much of a selection for young girls from a size 5 to a 9-10. I found some 5 to 6x but not much. Definitely no 7 to 10s at all. Not even a section. Truly dissatisfied. And it seems like a lot of what they're carrying for many adult females are crop tops and crop sweaters. Who wants a crop sweater in winter? Not everyone can wear or even like the crop style. The customer service experience that, I received this afternoon was unbelievable. Unfortunately racism is still in effect. The return policy states 30 days for full refund or exchange....But should also say for blacks only. There was another customer besides me returning that was white and was accommodated who purchase was extremely beyond the policy date. It's truly heart breaking to come across some individuals that are naturally evil and damaged from years of learned behavior to mistreat an individual. I've always found good deals, the store on the weekends is very busy but the line at the register seems to always move pretty well. Shoes and dress shirts is what I'm looking for and usually find many options. Good selection of sizes and prices are very reasonable. It's hit or miss, youth may or may not find what you are looking for. I would change one thing about this location, please make up your mind if you are or are not going to announce 15 minutes before closing that your are closing soon. It seems to be inconsistent if you make the announcement or not. A good shopping experience otherwise. read more

5 stars because I got my beloved Betsey Johnson sunglasses here 5 years ago and they lasted up until last week when my loving boyfriend was asked to keep an eye on them for only a moment... and in that moment he set them on the ground, forgot, and stepped on them. So here I am, back at the Rack in search of a pair that mimic all that perfection my original pair embodied. Though I didn't find as good a match, I found 2 pairs that I was willing to settle for so I can *try* to go on with my life. I LOVE this place. Their shoe section is a mess and full of obnoxious people but damn do they have some good finds. I just got 2 pairs of shoes that are still at the regular Nordstrom for full price. Score! They also have a fabulous selection of designer jeans and I love their jewelry selection... lots of great, fun animal jewelry (just my style). I really like the staff at the registers here. They know how to move the line and are always friendly and courteous to me about my purchases. I switch from my work heels (which I also purchase here for 20-70% off), to my #FitFlops for cardio shopping during my work breaks. There are selections for work wear to active wear to home goods. During my #cardio shopping hour, I find great deals for client gifts as well. You get the name brand #quality at deep discounts. Be prepared to wait in line during check out. They do have plenty on staff and it does move pretty quickly. You'd think that discrimination is not present in a semi-diverse store. Yet yesterday an employee ( a heavy set Caucasian woman-manager) in the shoe department requested that someone else attend us. I thought, forgive and forget. Yet, she then came out with two balloons for 2 children who were there way after my two children. The worst part is that she flaunted these balloons in front of my children. Discriminate me, and I'll move forward, but discriminate a 3 and 4 year old, I will never understand. My husband said let it go, and we must move forward. I then headed up to customer service and requested for a manager. A manager named Mike kindly just listened, and offered a tissue. But that was all, he never asked for the name nor description of this employee I mentioned to him. I knew from that point that we were not being considered. I offered to give a description, and all that was still not relevant to him. I pleaded that he have a conversation with her about this behavior. I explained that no one in the future should be treated this way, and again he just listened. I thought about two things, one is that Mike the manager has never been discriminated and will probably never will be, therefore he can't connect to this situation, which is why he probably just listened. Secondly, the manager who was working in the shoe department was never taught to love and accept diversity. Therefore, I went away feeling sorry for her; she wasn't raised to be humble and to love. I went home thinking about the importance of teaching my 3 and 4 year old that they will unfortunately face discrimination and the importance of taking action. Yet, most importantly I want my children to know that people in general are better than that and love, respect, and empathy are the traits that people generally have. We went to a late dinner afterwards and I thought about how fortunate we are to carry those traits and how grateful I am to have been taught those values. If you are ever discriminated at this store, please report it. If this is a daily thing by this employee, than she should be dismissed due to her discriminatory traits. I still can't believe that this woman is a manager at this store. My heart goes out to those managed by her. Yet my heart goes out to her as well, living with hate and bitterness must not be easy. read more

Frank was very helpful and knowledgeable in this industry. He educated me very well with the different styles of shoes and made great recommendations for me. I would highly recommend him to other customers and for the company to promote him and give him a raise. However, the reason for the 3 stars are because of Phil; the younger male Caucasian kid. My brother and I were standing there for awhile but he would not acknowledge us at all. Finally a random person tells Phil that we need assistants. He looks at us in a very judgmental way and doesn't help us. He tells Frank to help us, which I said before Frank was an amazing employee. Now, Phil wasn't doing anything. Just stood there minding his business. He then goes and helps a female out, 2 other males, and another male afterwards that were dress well. Not saying my brother and I were not dress well but we didn't look like bums. I noticed none of them bought anything from him. We felt like we judged based on our appearance and not welcome by Phil at all. I would retrain this kid or let him go. I bought 5 men's jackets in May and decided to keep all but one. I never wore this jacket, no tags were ever removed and the original receipt along with the package was intact. I mistakenly placed it in my garages and found the bag this morning. I figured I'll give it a shot and see if Nordstrom would make an exception and allow me to return or exchange the item as it was too tight on me. Now I understand their return policy and knew that I had a very slim shot at making the return. I realize that you have to enforce store policies but I also know that sometime you make exceptions to please and retain your customers. I walked in and a young lady began assisting me with the return. Soon she realized that it has been over 90 days so she called the manager. What happened next is what earned this place and particularly the store manager Kim Csutak and 1 star rating. I first apologized to her for brining the item back so late and proceeded to explain to her that I just found it this morning. The item was sitting in a bag, dust free, with all the tags still in place. The manager without any hesitation said that "I can not do anything" and continued on by saying that if I make exceptions for one person, I have to make it for every one. I insisted that I would really appreciate if she can make this one time exception. I told here I am a regular shopper and she can look at the receipt that I bought $700 worth of merchandise just on that day alone. Before I could finish, she repeated the same sentence and simply walked away to the next register. As some one has previously worked in retail, I have a few tips for you Kim and more importantly for your employer Nordstrom. I have spends tons of thousands of dollars with your company and I would expect that if a customer is respectfully asking you to make an exception, even if you want to refuse, be courteous in how you refuse them and most of all do not just walk away. My plan was to make the return and than proceed to shop. However after her attitude, I simply walked away and won't be returning. In the world of growing online shopping where giants such as Amazon are eating up walk-in store businesses. Having such a strict policy and more importantly rude managers clearly reflects on the struggling sales figures for stores such as Macy's and Nordstrom. I completely understand that company policies should be followed but every manager has the authority and should posses the ability to asses the situation and make the best judgement call. I was returning something that was not used or even worn once. Had she been more polite, I would have still felt disappointed but I wouldn't have walked out upset and perhaps angry. read more

I finally know what it is like to be a girl. OK, I doubt I could ever really KNOW, but as much as it is within my capacity as a boy to know, I think I have maybe finally uncovered some small inkling of potential understanding of the possible perception of that conceivable notion of what it might feasibly be like. To be a girl, that is. I hate shopping. The only thing worse than shopping for clothes is shopping for food. What a drag it is to buy more of the same thing I bought last week... Retail salespeople hate it when I come to shop, especially clothing salespeople. Even if I am just browsing, I can be in and out of a clothing store in about 30 seconds. Sometimes less. I'm like a Green Beret strike commando scout. If I conduct my mission properly, people will wonder if I was ever even there in the first place. So before a salesman can even say "Hello" I have already circuited the store, decided there is nothing I want, and left. They often find themselves saying "What are you looking for today?" to a cupcake-shaped puff of smoke. They hate this. They want me to at least pretend like I want to listen to them show me something we both already know I don't want, and would look like a hobo in to boot. But even though I may not know specifically what I am looking for, I can very quickly identify what I am not looking for, so fortunately, I am never still there to hear them complain. Just 20 minutes before walking into Nordstrom Rack, I was at the heavy machinery service depot buying carburetor parts for my 40 year old lawnmower, and I was just as manly as the greasy old mechanic with the cigar and the CAT Diesel meshback who sold me my needle valve. I had expected another 30 second circuit since I had not had good luck at men's stores lately. Funny how things don't work out sometimes how I plan them. Turning into a girl for a couple hours was certainly not on my agenda for the day between repairing the lawnmower and rodding out the sewer line. But it happened nonetheless, because I went BERZERK shopping at Nordstrom Rack! Like BEYOND crazy! I've known many crazy people, and they most certainly did not shop this well. It was indeed a veritable spree of shopping. I've been to the regular Nordstrom department store a few times and it was the worst possible combination of fashion snoozefest and gougeteria I've ever seen, ($200 for a shirt my Dad wouldn't even wear? No thanks.) but Nordstrom Rack is TOTALLY different! Hence my epiph-femme-y... I found not only clothes that I loved, but whole BRANDS of clothes that I discovered I liked, and I normally have virtually no opinion on that sort of thing. Not only that, I found tons of stuff in MY SIZE (MS or Microscopic) that was amazing! AND prices were VERY reasonable for outstanding quality and style. The store is very plain, but clean and exceedingly well-organized. It was so organized, I found myself refiling any rare garments I found out of order. Everything was typically organized by type, and then by size which made it super-easy to shop. Before I knew it, I had 10 shirts in my hand. My arm was getting tired holding them all, and I wasn't going to buy 10 shirts was I? So it was time to adjourn to the dressing room. I normally never do this. My philosophy is, "If I like the shirt and it is as small as it can get already, why do I need to try it on?" The dude was right there to let me in, so I didn't have to scout the entire floor looking for someone to unlock the door. As I smiled at myself in the mirror, and angry girly-rock blasted in the dressing room, my thoughts drifted to stranger places still. Questions I have never asked in my life suddenly became very important to me: Does this shirt really go with my skin tone? Wouldn't this be better to wear in the winter time? I wonder what color of jeans would blend with this one best? What occasions would these be good for? I was a stranger in my own brain. My own psyche was a bizarre alien landscape, but the importance of these questions was not diminishing, so at the urging of Alanis Morisette and Tori Amos I came to whatever conclusion seemed the best to me. I refiled my one reject shirt, (Snaps instead of buttons? Maybe when I move to Appalachia and take up the banjo... Please.) and toted my rather heavy load to the checkout and left Nordstrom Rack having spent way more money than I am comfortable disclosing. Nobody spoke to me the entire time, but the staff was always right where they needed to be. Perfect! OK, I'm lying. I did look around thoroughly one more time to make sure I wasn't missing anything good before checking out. This was how I realized I had likely gone female. In the parking lot, I reasserted my masculinity, and quickly stuffed all my giant bags in the car. For the first time ever, I had fun shopping. This store is a hot mess! Seriously, the customers are rude and trash this store with no regard for the employees. That said, I come here often and I have to give 4 stars for the Michele watch I scored and Burberry bag. The watch was an easy buy. I had my eye on it for days, went back twice, thought about it and bought it and love it! The Burberry bag was an obvious return because I have never seen a burberry bag at this store before. As I glanced at the bag another woman did the same. I swept in and grabbed it. Yep, I did. The woman followed me around the store for 1/2 hour telling me why she should have the bag not me. She actually started tugging on it. I guess a camera saw what was happening and security stepped in. She was asked to leave the store. So, ya I scored a Burberry, pink plaid roll bag for $495! The initial shock of the setup has passed. I swore up and down that I wouldn't return here, but they are by far the closest location to me and I needed to use my Groupon. It was actually a pleasant experience with very few hangups. I found a beautiful Muse dress that is normally up to $175 on sale for $59. I clutched my find, ready to cut a B if she tried to get it since it was the last of my size. It fit perfectly, so I trotted over to the end of the ginormous holiday line and accidentally ran into the area where the other formal dresses are hiding. FYI - It's in the NE corner of the store with all the menswear (you know, because that's where I always look for dresses). The line moved quickly and the cashier gushed over my find. I ended up shelling out $14 cash to make up the difference from the $50 Groupon. I'll never get used to tax on clothing. I paid $25 for my Groupon, so that brings the dress' total to a whopping $39. That's almost an 80% discount! read more

WOW...has this location really gone downhill. I actually think all of the Nordstrom Racks aren't as great as they once were but this location is a real shame. I use to come here & find amazing deals on designer/contemporary items frequently. Not only are they hiring more and more clueless people but the management is lazy as well. They also don't have any of the higher end brands they use to sell here.. In the last month I have almost purchased 2 designer items with disgusting stains on them..last week it was a Hugo Boss blazer with a large white stain & today a Helmut Lang jacket with what appeared to be feces. Thank God I saw them before purchasing either- so appalled at what this store will sell. After today- and what I saw on a Helmut Lang jacket that they were selling for $300- I won't ever return. Also- FYI...I brought the stained HL jacket to a male managers attention & he was not concerned at all & it went right back out on the floor for a different, unsuspecting customer to buy. A meeting in Downers Grove led me to a quick shopping excursion at the Rack... we ladies always find time to fit in a little shopping! I prefer this location to the one in the Loop -- first off, I prefer their shoe selection and there's a huge, free parking lot. See, there are some benefits to 'burban shopping! They always have a really great selection of denim -- I'm talking Rock and Republic, Paige Premium, and Joe's. I don't have the Victoria Beckham physique to fit into those super slim Rock and Republics, but it's still nice to peep them at a price I can actually afford (around $100), I also swoon over their designer sunglasses collection as well as the lingerie. The Elle Macpherson line of bras is super cute! Also, this outpost isn't quite as 'picked-over' as its downtown sibling. The markdowns are plentiful if you have the time and energy to sort through all the racks. Lots of designer deals to be found here, for women and men alike. I'm a fan! read more

LUST at first sight. I came in here with a mission. A fabulous dress, at a budget conscious price. I walked out with three. Two classic, timeless Calvin Klein dresses and one FAB DVF dress... All together under my alloted budget for one dress. I was grinning from ear to ear as I walked out. My wallet was singing sweetly, serenading me for being kind and taking care to not leave her completely depleted. Note 1: You must be a someone who has patience to sort through racks and racks of random clothes. If you are a shopper who needs everything laid out for you in a simple, easy to read manner.... you will hyperventilate in here. Also, make sure you aren't 'in a hurry'. Finding sweet treasures here takes time! Note 2: Customer service here is very lack luster. The ladies (approx 8 of them) working the fitting room were literally ignoring customers to have casual conversations with each other. Another customer in the fitting room gave me the 'are you serious?!' look. We shared a laugh and an eyeroll. I would have been WAY more annoyed with it had I not been so excited to try my dresses on. I'm a fan of this store for designer discounts, but most items are still priced above what I'm willing and able to spend. This place is always packed to the top with great clothing, shoes and accessories. It's a popular store, so it can be pretty crowded, and sometimes a little messy. I came in with a gift card and wasn't exactly able to even find something that I could get for free with my $50 off, but was eventually able to find a beautiful designer watch and have to pay only $20 for it. Worth it!! I think I'm only a customer when I have a gift card (which I would never mind getting!) or if I wanted to find a designer item as a gift, as they did have a WAY better selection of items like that than a TJ maxx/Marshalls would. read more

OK, in the past few years I would have given this place at least 4 stars, but over the last year in a half, they have redesigned and reorganized the sections and I think the layout is not as pleasing to shop as before. There used to be a large children's section an now it just seems so limited and not much to select from. The shoe section is always full, but I haven't been able to find as many good choices as I once used to. The lines seem to be quite long whenever I go (and I try to go mid-late morning) so I don't know... I still will shop here, but I just think the layout is lame now. Okay, so I have been to my fair share of Nordstrom Racks and this location is among the best. I can't give it five stars, because I felt as though their handbag selection was subpar. Their shoe selection more than made up for it! Oh my goodness, you will be able to find ANY type/brand of shoe you could ever hope to find (or in my case, hope not to find). I could have spend at least an hour just drooling over footwear in my size! I ended up with the most beautiful pair of Frye cowboy boots that I had ever seen in my life (I frequent quite a few high end department stores and never had I seen a pair of Frye boots so ostentatiously designed). They surpass gorgeous. The employees wearing the green shirts can check you out, so there's no waiting in line. The one I encountered first was quite nice and helpful. This seems silly, but I was unaware that you could use your Nordstrom debit/credit cards at Nordstrom Rack -- I had only ever used mine at a Nordstrom. It's free to join and the Nordstrom debit comes directly out of your checking account. You earn points and save money. If you frequent Nordstrom -- what's not to love? In my experience, Nordstrom Racks' selection is based on their location. Given that Oak Brook is one of the most affluent suburbs of Chicago, I expected a wide variety of the top of the line designers and I was not let down. This is a discounted designer store. People travel here from all over the place to shop here, so I was curious after it open to check it out and have now been shopping here every since. I will say this, I am not big on shopping at all, only when I feel I need something will I go. You will need to devote at least two hours here going through the racks, but well worth it if you find a couple of good pieces. I either find stuff like crazy or walk out with nothing, so it's a bit risky if you have to find something that day. I do like the quality of the clothes here and are a bit more trendy than the rest of my wardrobe in my closet. I wear a popular size so to find it in my size can sometimes be my biggest challenge. As my son said to me one day, when I couldn't find my size, mom its kinda like fishing, you see that big fish swimming close to the boat, and you want it sooo bad, but it decides it doesn't want to bite your hook, then your just out of luck. Well he hit the nail on the head that day, and a cute little story I will never forget. read more
