I always see at least one walking a customer around to help find something. For example, I was in the shoe section, and the employee (older lady) was extremely patient, helping a customer identify a pair of shoes for pickle ball. Kohl's used to be a guaranteed source whenever I needed some specific wardrobe items at decent prices. The selection was good and the store design was conducive to being able to find what I needed. Prices always used to be good, and I acknowledge that the current inflation mess we are in has influenced that. But the new Kohl's has repeatedly been disappointing. Quality and established brands are either available, at a much reduced level, or not at all. They are too many cheaper lines offered that just do not look as good. When I can't find what I'm seeking in three consecutive visits, I know something has changed. Coupon use at Kohl's is an exercise in frustration. Most merchandise lines they offer are not included in their coupon sales. So the coupons are a come on to get into the store. The store layout has been changed. The mens department collides with the boys department, in haphazard fashion. Sportswear such as sweatshirts, etc., is now located in the front of the store, which requires you to hunt things down. There is no comfortable store floor plan flow. Lastly, emphasis on Sephora does not bode well.I recall that JC Penney did the same thing with a specific line in a final attempt to regain sales. The news has been that Kohl's has not been performing as well as it should. The fact that JCP is interested in buying Kohl's is not a welcome sign. I'll still shop at Kohl's, but I think its future is bleak. read more

I had a kind associate named Christina stop what she was doing and help me pick out toys for my godchildren. I believe she could tell just how out of my element I was in the toy section. She took the time to get to know exactly what ages I was shopping for, then showed me how the age categories were organized on the shelves and aisles of their toy section. I chose toys that are safe for their age to play with and was able to surprise them both that same night. The look on their faces is worth more stars if YELP would allow it. Now I have to admit, I do not shop at Kohl's. So, why was I there, you might ask? Well, you can return Amazon purchases there. Yes, that is correct. There is even a single parking spot reserved just for that outside the door. When you notify Amazon of the return, you are issued one of those little box code things (I'm sure it has a name, but I don't know it). I was rather skeptical, but drove over. There is a separate booth at the west end of the store with a big Amazon sign over it. The young lady was most pleasant, took my item, scanned the little box, issued me a return receipt, wished me a good day, and I was on my way. I had it in the original packaging, but they pack it, if necessary, seal it up, and send it off. This was pretty painless compared to my last Amazon return. read more

Shopping at Kohl's is like taking the stunted style of a JCPenney circa the late 90s, and the prices of the lower middle-range quality items (coughcoughanythingwithJessicaSimpson'snameonit) at Macy's. Okay, that was mean. I'm sorry. There are exceptions to every rule, of course, and these are the ones that make Kohl's still kinda decent. 1. If you're a Senior Citizen and it's a Wednesday, because then you get that extra 10% off ish, or whatever the hell it is. 2. If you've never heard of or been to Target. And that's it. To be fair, I do have some beef with this place. I've purchased 3 different items on 3 different occasions here (all clothing and all without trying them on), then when I got home and did actually put the items on to wear, they were all defective or broken is some way. ** A belt loop is completely ripped out of the fabric. ** The straps on a dress are sewn in twisted. ** The zipper slide is broken so the teeth don't lock. How is even possible that a person come here once a year, buy one thing, and have it always be broken or defective. I'd expect this kind of sh*t from Ross, only in that scenario I would've been paying less to begin with. Burn me once, shame on me. I've said this once, and I'll say it again. Shopping out in the burbs is so much more pleasurable than shopping in the city, especially at a department store like Kohl's. This particular Kohl's was large, well-stocked, tidy, and not too crowded. During the Christmas season, I get really fed up with pushing my way through the crowds to rifle through picked over piles of stuff looking for what I want, and then spending forever in line to face a surly sales person. Not the case here. I went in looking for Christmas presents and ended up spending $80 on clothes for myself. Oops. Kohl's has great sales, even if the notoriously mark up everything to begin with. Because if their mark up, I don't usually buy anything that's not on sale. Fortunately, tis the season for sales. I really like their stuff, and I will probably always come back. This one was particularly convenient having a huge selection of everything. One of my big complaints, being a girl on the curvier side, is that Kohl's in general has a terrible woman's section. Their misses stuff, which I can sometimes do, is super, But everything in the woman's section is fugly and matronly. I saw some pajamas at my home store (Plainfield) some time ago, but when I went back to buy them, they didn't have them. Sad story, right? Well, I checked online, and the Store Finder showed me that they were in stock at Woodridge. I was headed out this way anyway, so I added Kohl's Woodridge to my to-do list. When I got to the store, I searched all of the pajama racks. Nothing! I know that there's a disclaimer on the website, which basically says that the information may not be accurate, but I've always had good luck and found this tool to be reliable with Kohl's and other retailers like Old Navy and Macy's. I was so disappointed that there wasn't a SINGLE one on the racks, not even in a way off base size like extra small. I then headed over to the home decor department to check out their small selection of photo albums. I found one I really liked and headed to the cashier. The cashier was grumpy, sort of odd for a weekday in the middle of the day, but maybe it's because he wanted those pajamas too. I ended up finding my pajamas at the Downers Grove store, just a short distance away. I definitely won't trust the online tool for the accuracy of inventory at Woodridge. read more

Typical Kohl's in my opinion. They aren't the biggest store, but a decent size for the area. I've been here a handful of times in the past year... mainly to return items that were given as a gift. I do love their return policy since no one seems to know what a Gift Receipt is anymore. The only problem I have with Customer Service at this Kohl's is that there seems to always be a line. You think they might have more than one person working the counter back there, but nope. So if I have a gift to return, I brace myself with my comfy shoes ready to stand in line for a while. They do have a decent sized child clothing area. There is always a lot on the clearance rack. But I must say, the last couple times I've been in the child's clothing area it smelled like B.O. - reeeeeally bad. I don't know, the thought of heading back there to shop makes me a little queasy. read more

I am pretty annoyed because they were not cheap shoes and I really don't want to have to take them back but I'm pretty surprised that they wouldn't check their returns. I LOVE KOHL'S!!!! Everytime I take my family to kohl's we get the best customer service and the best deals. The one of 75th street is amazing!! We spend on average 500$ a month there. I'm writting this review because I just got off the phone with the customer service line to pay my charge card and I talked with a Chris(I.D number 3970) and she was more than helpful to my situation and we got everything cleared up! Udually talking on customer service is a pain, but I could not be more happy/satisfied with our phone call. I was going to do the survey at the end of the call and leave her good comments but the line cut out and I couldn't. I hope management sees this and notices the great job she does! :) read more

So the selection and cleanliness of this location is great! But because it's so busy, the lines are horrible! There's usually an average of a 10 minute wait to check out and 15 for returns. (At least on saturdays when I go!) I do really appreciate the amazon returns that can be done here! Also a huge issue I've had the last three times is walking out with security tags on my clothes. The first time was before a vacation and the woman heard the alarm go off and just figured it was because I bought some jewelry. And I got off the plane on vacation to realize that the security tags were still on. Now I know to turn around and have them check the bag. Today it happened and 2/5 of my items had tags on them. I say increase the staff and improve the security tag issue and I'll give you 5 stars! PS. Evan is the cutest! He checks me out often when I go there and he's always so nice and friendly! My 1 star rating is for customer service. I've had nothing but good experiences with the from front house associates. I came in on Monday morning trying to redeem a Yes2You reward... the ones they give you when you spend enough money in the store. However, my phone died . I really didn't think it would be complex to somehow link my reward to my account and let me redeem it. Boy was I wrong! Apparently this was IMPOSSIBLE. Like cmon, how is it impossible for me to redeem money I've supposedly earned and purposefully come to spend??? The first associate was over talkative & giving me unnecessary explanations for things I didn't ask about. Okay. Whatever. "Can I speak to the manager?" The manager literally had no problem solving or people skills lol... @ least the other lady had more of a presence. HOW HARD WOULD IT HAVE BEEN OFFER TO LET ME CHARGE MY PHONE if your system isn't capable of doing a simple function that it should posses? 1) The technology needs to be updated. This is a bigger Kohls than I usually go to. The layout is a little different and not necessarily intuitive but it's clean and bright and I was able to find what I needed fairly easily. I was buying a vaccum and it was more awkward than heavy but there was an employee at the registers who was kind enough to get a rolly cart for me. Check-out was quick an friendly. This place is a little out of the way for me but I think I'll visit again. read more

I've gone in plenty of times thinking I was going to be 'that customer' the one who loses their receipt or changes the existing receipt to the sale price, I've even lost my kohls cash. This store was crazy this past Friday, but they didn't run out of the items I was looking for. I am obsessed with cashmere sweaters and they had some on sale for only $35! That's a great price for 100% cashmere sweaters! They had other deals in there too, but I was shopping for other people so I couldn't go overboard. The store was ready for the Black Friday madness and had plenty of staff to help customers look for things and to check us out! I will definitely come to this location again! read more

On selected shopping days, a customer can earn $10 Kohl's Cash for every $50 spent. You can return during Kohl's Cash week and use it towards any item in the store. In addition to Kohl's Cash, Kohl's is very generous in sending out 15-30% off shopping passes--which this store allows you to use multiple times. Even without all the coupons, Kohl's Cash, and shopping passes, Kohl's has so many sales to help shoppers save money. What else besides money-saving deals makes Kohl's great? The layout of the store is organized. Like sections are in the same vicinity. Staff is pleasant. Unlike small department stores, staff doesn't stalk you and try to make sales. They leave you alone to have a relaxing shopping experience. If you are clothes shopping, it is possible to find a lot of great items. Although, I do wish Kohl's and other department stores would sell more women's shirts in solid colors with sleeves and more knee-length, stylish skirts. This Kohl's used to be a hot mess, but in the past year or two they've redone things a little bit and it's been nothing but clean and organized. I just shopped here yesterday for some jeans and I was able to get in and out in 30 minutes with 3 pairs of jeans. Everything was exactly where it needed to be, organized by size, every size was out on the floor, and I didn't need to beg and plead for a size that they were missing. Perfect! I swear that never happens. Staff aren't necessarily super friendly in the different clothing sections, but move very quickly. Check-out staff on the other hand, are pretty slow-moving, but very friendly. I like this location, I think a couple of other reviewers have stated their layout IS different from other Kohl's, but hey, it's what I'm used to, and they always have coupons circulating so I like it! read more

I opened up a CC thinking they weren't going to run my credit for a hard hit to lower my FICO. I was ASSURED quite a few times that the check is a soft hit. Well they LIED!!! My FICO score was lowered quite a bit. I have tried calling about it several times an their answer is pretty much too bad. They insisted it's a great card to have with all the benefits and it won't hurt my FICO score. They will give false information and deceit the customer to get the CC sign up. I am soooo sorry to have opened this card and will warn all of you be careful!!! Despicable store and customer service. I don't generally care for Kohl's that much because I like to know the price of things before I get to the register, but my sister and I had a wonderful experience with the jewelry department at this location. We just went out with nothing to do on a Sunday night, and the sales person laughed and joked with us, and let us 'try on' whatever we wanted. This was absolutely the worst experience I've had a department store in my whole life. Being the maid of honor I went with the bride to register for her wedding shower there so we arrive to the register area and help desk and signed up for registery. I believe her name was Lynda she was blonde, was at the desk when we asked for help on how to get the gun etc. The bride told her she had to print out her registery but she hadn't even start scanning yet, she rudely told us that scanning for a registry is different then registering. And that was just the beginning of the rude unhelpful attitude that came out of her mouth. So we print the sheet we needed and went back to the desk where she seemed like she had no idea what she was talking about she didn't know what to scan to make the gun register the Id number for her registery. So she finally got the gun going and handed it to the bride and we walk away and Lynda shouts down to us down the isle and tells us not to be disappointed if nothing works when we scan because they are going through a transition period to a new system. So the bride walks back and says so what your saying is its pretty much a waste of my time and they said yes its better to do it online. She said that all the kohls are like that not just the one in woodridge, so we called the the one in Lombard and sure enough they said everything was fine with them and they had a couple leave 20minutes earlier. So they obviously were not about doing there job and customer service is not there strong suit especially at the customer service desk.There will not be seeing me back there again. read more

This Kohls has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Every single time I've checked out at this location, the cashiers are extremely unpleasant. They act like they are doing me a favor by ringing up my merchandise. The floor people are also very rude and unhelpful, yet they follow you around and breathe down your neck as if you are going to steal something. Yes the store is nice inside and the merchandise is decent, but the customer service sucks, and the management sucks for allowing their employees to treat their customers in such a manner. Extremely slow lines.. at 9am on a Sunday (11.13)?!, pretty pathetic. There are a total of 5 customers in entire store & both the person who appears to be one in charge (flustered brownhaired older woman wearing blue tshirt) & all the personnel manning the registers look completely out of their element. I stood for 10min in 1 line with no movement & then switched to another for another 15min, was spoke rudely to by Caucasian worker at register, contemplated leaving but then a nicer appearing Africanamerican gentleman assisted me without difficulty. Major retraining (or some training to begin with) needed. Also took several attempts to get the attention of a worker to ask a question to when I was looking for a slipcover (of course only available online as usual)- he ignored me 2x til he finally realized I wldnt be going away immediately. In the past I had major experiences of racial discrimination by the staff here, actually had not stepped into store for 2yrs, am realizing not much has changed & I haven't been missing out on anything. Another note- maybe make your various bythemail coupons & reward programs less complicated (maybe just apply the sales to begin with), both your customers & especially your staff seem SUPER confused & overwhelmed by it all. read more
