MACTRONICS: FRIENDLY, FANTASTIC, FAST, REASONABLE! My Macbook Air was deluged with a cup of tea (with milk and sugar) and its life was hanging by a thread. My initial horror deepened at finding the extra Apple iCloud space I was paying for did not include my laptop data. Thanks to some online advice, I searched for a local Mac recovery specialist instead of taking it into an Apple Store, and found MacTronics, with high ratings and glowing reviews. On their next open day I spoke with Terri on the phone, who gave me the quote for their diagnostic fee (very reasonable). I brought the laptop in that day and left it, having agreed that my primary concern was recovery of the data. A little later that day, Terri called to say the tech found the data was recoverable and would need a backup drive; Terri walked me through finding an inexpensive one on Amazon, delivered directly to them the following day. She also provided the estimate for that work, which included the amount of the initial fee. (Still super reasonable, since I was worried I'd have to buy a new laptop!) Meanwhile, the tech would continue to work on cleaning up the laptop insides, keyboard and trackpad. Terri called the next day to let me know they had received the drive and the tech was backing up my data. The following day she called to say it was ready for me to pick up. She detailed the work that had been done, providing screen shots showing all hardware tests passed. She also said some keys and the trackpad had some residual stickiness, but were still usable. The tech said it was not cost effective to replace the keyboard and trackpad, but did show the cost if I wanted to. His recommendation if the stickiness was too bothersome was to use an inexpensive external keyboard. He also set up Time Machine on the backup drive and had done two backups. Terri walked me through everything he had done and showed me how to use the drive, recommending backups every week or two weeks. Then I made sure my data was being backed up to the cloud. Terri checked in with me a few days later to make sure all was well. I am so grateful to the folks at MacTronics! read more

I was having a bad day the kind of day where youre on a job and you drop your laptop on ground and break it front of a client. I made an appointment with the geniuses but then thought I might be better served using someone independent and local. apple has enough of my Money and there is something I find appealing about spending money in my community and keeping it here in town. Anyway I call mactronics and the person I talked to was so plainly honest I drove straight over. When I got there Teresa informed me I had apple care when I'd been expecting to spend grand, which sent me in to tears of joy. (Bad day) The best way I can describe my experience is to say mactronics provide the type of service you were accustomed to 30yrs ago but simply doesn't exist anywhere anymore. A few hrs after dropping it off Teresa called me with an update. (Who does update calls anymore???) "Sara your part has been ordered and I need to confirm your cross street." (My cross street????) Yes they're planning to deliver your fixed laptop to your house. (Me: Tears again) I think these people might secretly be angels sent here to fix bad days. read more

I was expecting to be worked over in some sense. And guess what... didn't happen. They were outstanding. The attendant gave me her honest opinion of what is should do which was literally not a benefit to their business. She made it clear that it didn't make sense me fixing my computer (very likely the case) and this suggested I didn't pay the $65 diagnosis fee. Instead she even went as far as directed me to the apple store and pointed out how for a slightly increased price I could purchase a newer refurbished Computer. They didn't ask for money but they for sure got and beyond earned my trust. I will go here and refer people from here forward. read more

Great service, Terri was such a great help and very thorough with the condition of my MacBook. Didn't push a sale on me even when I needed it, but it was going to be pricey (logic board replacement). She suggested I save my money and put it towards a new one. Very respectable people. read more

TERI!!!! Is a GODDESS!!! Right in the middle of my busiest season at work my computer took an absolute shit. I had just returned from a work trip with a multitude of projects to finish and it simply wouldn't power on. From the moment she answered the phone Teri calmed my nerves telling me everything to expect regarding price as well as the process and approximate timeline of the repair itself. She bent over backwards to get my computer looked at immediately and made me feel so at ease. This is something that could have cost me my job and she had it back to me under 48 hours. I've been stuck in a hole of playing catch up at work or I would have wrote this sooner. I will ONLY be coming here for any repairs I need. I didn't feel that I was walking into a business that handed me a number, I was talking to a real (and wonderful) woman who understood the importance of my work. I ended up hugging her I was so overjoyed when she called to let me know everything was OK and up and running. It may not always work out so well, technology does fail.. but know that if you go here they will treat you like part of the family and do everything humanly possible to fix it! read more

Recommended the perfect solution for my cracked screen on my early 2015 MacBook Pro laptop!

Disclaimer: My MacBook was not serviced here due to needed timeframe, but the five stars is for the customer service and honesty. I originally went to another store who ended up being the highest quote to upgrade my hard drive. When I sat in my car and called around to different stories, dear Terry took my information and told me she'd call me back with quotes. I was already on my way to another store across town and was floored when she called back to tell me a workaround to get the hard drive installed (by them) at the cheapest price (by purchasing it online, versus through them or another store). Unfortunately, I was flying out the next morning so needed it taken care of ASAP. When everyone else's quotes were from $300-600 and she told me to buy hard drive online and they could do it for $100 or $150 (forgot) for labor, that's a pretty decent savings. Ill definitely come back next time I'm in town, I love honesty and ways to save! read more

I've taken my MacBook here over the years multiple times. Terri truly cares about her customers and is extremely transparent with pricing. They go above and beyond to make sure you get the best service and best deal (even when it's not beneficial to them). Such a warm and welcoming environment on top of the excellent work they do. There's a reason they have been around so long. Truly a wonderful business. read more

I needed to have some work performed on a couple of older iMacs in a rush as I was leaving town and needed the work to be done before I left. The support I received from MacTronics was top-notch and the people were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and resolved my issues quickly. This Apple/Mac pro of over 35 years was impressed and MacTronics' services are highly recommended. read more

They salvaged our important data after one of the kids dumped water on the laptop. ! Miracle! Timely & brilliant. Thank you! Great communication & got us in the next morning. read more

These folks are the best! Super friendly and incredibly knowledgable. The price they quoted is exactly what I paid. (No silly reindeer games with the pricing.) That price was about what I expected to pay for the data recovery, and worth every penny. They also had it ready for pickup the following morning, which was much faster than I anticipated. Very happy customer. read more

We had a great experience with MacTronics! My Mac laptop was acting funky and then crapped out on me. The Genius Bar was booked out so we decided to give MacTronics a try. I had never used an authorized Mac shop before and we were super impressed - it was an easy and very pleasant experience. The woman who helped me was lovely and super helpful and sorted me right out. Will go there again for sure! read more

My Mac Book Pro took a fall and the screen died. These folks assessed the situation, fixed the problem for under a $100 and gave me some great tips on getting my next Mac, ALL IN THE SAME AFTERNOON! What a repair shop should be...old school Austin good! read more

I cannot say enough great things about MacTronics! They are knowledgeable, helpful, straight forward, and fairly priced. Everything you could hope for in a business. Don't hesitate to take your Apple products here. read more

I got my laptop serviced here and it was a great experience. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. They really look out for their customer's best interest. I'd also like to echo all the other reviews praising Terri, they're all true, she is incredibly helpful and SO KIND! You can really tell she genuinely cares. I encourage everyone looking to get repairs done on their Apple products to come to MacTronics (also, they ARE a Apple Authorized Service Provider and I was referred to them by Apple Support when Apple stores were closed for covid). Seriously, this will be the only place I go to for my repairs from here on out. Thank you Terri and the MacTronics team, you're awesome! :) read more

For me to even consider writing a yelp review says a lot about how I apperciate the service I was provided. Terri, as already mentioned in many other reviews, was a delight! I could not say one bad thing about her or my experience. read more

Terri and the team at MacTronics are professional and amazing! They took care of my MacBook as quick as they could and I'm extremely grateful! I really appreciate their communication and wonderful customer service. Highly recommend. read more

This is an Apple Certified repair shop and they really know their stuff. I'm a 35 year Apple customer, unix guru and I am used to fixing my own computers. But, iMac's beyond my skills and I don't keep up with all the technical and hardware details any longer. I never felt more comfortable with a service like MacTrontics. I am also happy to support a local small business, too! I got a quick diagnosis, several affordable options for my repairs and got my computer back in 2 days. This is way better than the Apple store experiences I have had. They are super friendly, they listen to the customer and they were professional all the way through. I trust their expert advice and experience. Good Karma! read more

Customer service is amazing. Terri is fantastic to work with. Mactronics is who you should choose if you need help with your mac computer. Convenient parking, quick turnaround, local business Mactornics maintains the true old south Austin Vibe. Thanks Mactronics! read more

I had a refreshingly pleasant experience here. I would trust these guys with any fix. No fluff. Great folks.

Just go here. Don't even bother with "the other guys". Excellent, fast and friendly service. Super communicative and crazy knowledgeable. read more

Terry at MacTronics was super friendly and helpful when I needed to replace a hard drive and recover data from an older MacBook Pro. She gave me options, including to shop around for second opinions, and advised me about putting money into an older computer instead of replacing it. In the end, their prices were cheaper than some of the other high profile stores that acted as though I needed them more than they needed my business. Thank you Terry and MacTronics. read more

Awesome service and professionalism. Exactly the same price for the estimate as for the final amount. Terry has a wonderful personality and knows her way around computers. We had an issue with the battery not working and she diagnosed the problem. Ordered the new parts and had the computer fixed and cleaned. She was professional and friendly. Definitely suggest using them. Also free parking at the location. read more

I accidentally dropped my MacBook Pro and thought I was going to have to purchase a brand new one. I took it to local popular electronic repair place and was quoted $750 for a screen replacement. My son told me to check on Yelp for other repair shops. Thank goodness I did! I called and spoke to Terri and she so quick to help me out and provide me a quote that was 1/3 less of the quote I initially received. I received my laptop back in only 3 days. I was extremely happy with the repair and the service MacTronics provided! I would highly recommend them! read more

Needed a new battery for my MacBook Pro Laptop, and I got one lickety-split. :-) My message (I'd called before they opened) was returned promptly. Terri walked me through finding the serial number so she could check inventory and price for the correct battery before I made a trip over. After hearing the price ($139 plus tax, same as Apple Store), I went online and found a "compatible" OEM battery for $35, but after reading the mixed reviews, I decided to buy an official Apple battery. Terri tested my computer to make sure that the only reason my laptop hadn't started was a dead battery. Great professional, warm and friendly service! The business is inside a corporate building, so you have to park in a lot (free) and take the elevator, but I will happily do so for the great service experience. read more

This is the only place I go to get my Mac serviced. Had a trackpad replaced in 2017 and a fan replaced this week. Overnight service and my Macbook is better than ever. They are honest and will give you all the options before you begin. Prices are fair and they go the extra mile in terms of customer service. If I could give 10 stars I would. read more

On my first day of the school year, I left an open water bottle in my backpack with my macbook pro. My macbook pro had water damage and my first instinct was to take it to the apple store. It took me days to find an available appointment, and then once I got one, I was given confusing estimates on how much it would cost to fix. I was never given a definite cost and then was also told that my data may not be recovered. Even though I was unsure about the cost, I agreed to the repair and have it fixed. ... 2 weeks later I got a call that my macbook still had not been touched and that they had given me the wrong estimate and it would actually cost 400$ more than my original estimate. Frustrated, I picked up my laptop and took it to Mactronics. I was greeted by Terry who was so friendly and helpful, unlike the service I had received at the Apple Store. She told me that she could perform a data recovery service that would recover all my files (yay!) but told me that to save money, if I wanted my laptop to be repaired it would cost less to take it to the Apple store. When she told me this, I could tell how much she cares about her customers and is NOT trying to rip them off. I agreed to the data recovery and decided to buy a used laptop instead. The data recovery only took 1 business day! Amazing. The cost came out to $250, but I got a 10% student discount and also $50 off because her technician wanted to retrieve a useable part from my laptop that was worthless to me! I have recommended Mactronics to all my friends and will be using them in the future. Customer Service: 10/10 Promptness: 10/10 Value: 10/10 Don't waste your time at the Apple Store and head to Mactronics! read more

MacTronics - Front Desk - IT Services & Computer Repair Near Me - Austin, Texas

I had an out of warranty spill/wifi issue and they made my repair process super easy and convenient (I asked and they are also an authorized Apple warranty repair shop which is great because the Genius Bar can be really annoying and inefficient). They are right near downtown, diagnosed my computer that afternoon, and had it back to me promptly. More than reasonable price and great communication! I highly recommend Terri and Shane! read more

Y'ALL GO TO MACTRONICS. Seriously. Forget any other options this is where you want to go. I recently spilt water on my MacBook Pro 15 inch and was absolutely DEVASTATED when it immediately shut off and remained unresponsive because I thought I was going to lose everything (I know nothing about backups or clouds or really computers in general, but I knew my life was on that stupid machine). I went to the Apple store and was quoted roughly $1300 for repairs; as a nearly broke college kid this was absolutely not doable. I called MacTronics, voice wavering because hi I'm twenty years old and emotional and had no idea what to do, and was immediately comforted by Terri, one of the MacTronics workers, who reassured me that everything would be okay. She held my hand through the entire process and genuinely made me feel fully informed and fully comforted (lol obviously a traumatic experience for me...whatevz). Not only was my data fully transferred to an external hard-drive within a day, but my computer was returned to me in only a few days fully functioning, no part replacement necessary. I paid a total of $225, so take that Apple. I will never take my mac anywhere else, and I have never experienced such high quality customer service. So yeah, two thumbs up. read more

I took my 4 year old Macbook Pro in for a repair (display just showed a black screen after booting up). Every time I spoke with Terri, it was a pleasant conversation. She takes pride in her customer service and it shows. Once the computer was diagnosed, the tech gave me a call to talk about options. He was very pleasant as well. Bottom Line: great place to take a broken/sick computer, upfront about services/fees, life-saving in terms of getting my computer back to new read more

Mactronics is a precious gem in south Austin's SoCo district! Shanes quality repair work and world class professionalism are effortlessly matched by Terri's prompt punctuality and warm, southern charm-- it's a combo not found elsewhere, and they are certainly an effective team. As far as my services. The machine was diagnosed same-day, repaired the next-day and ready for pickup in less than 24 hours from my initial stumble into their tiny office on the 5th floor. All for a very affordable and highly competitive price- woohoo! I'm pleased with my Mactronics experience, and I definitely feel confident in recommending their service to any and all friends and family..and yelpers. read more

This was, by far, the best experience I have ever had with a computer repair. They were quick, super amazingly pleasant to deal with, fixed my computer and then it was covered by Apple Care, which they accept! I'd give them 10 stars if I could! Good as it gets! read more

Double thumbs up to MacTronics. My girlfriend spilled beer on my Macbook Air while it was on. After drying it out with rock salt it worked for a while, but after a rain and lots of moisture in the air it began to shut off sporadically (right around final exams). I did some research and was under the impression that I would need to replace the battery (which would have costed $129. Way better than buying a new computer). After searching around for a good repair shop, and getting rejected at Compuzone, I stumbled across the awesome yelp reviews for MacTronics and gave them a call. The man that answered was super knowledgeable and sincere. He told me that he sees cases like this all the time, and that based on my computers symptoms, it is probably not the battery, but rather the mechanism that turns on the battery. He said a good internal cleaning might be enough to fix the problem. I thanked him kindly, and decided to give his advice a shot on my own. I ordered the specialty pentalobe screwdriver to open the Macbook air 2012, I sprayed it out with duster, disconnected the battery, brushed the battery connection with a new toothbrush, and reconnected. The computer turned on with one button push, and is currently working like a charm. I feel bad that I didn't contribute a dime to this company, so I wrote this review instead. This is probably the best mac repair specialists in town, and I would definitely recommend them to a friend or family member. read more

Mrs U's LaCie external hard drive was literally fried by a recent power cut. Shane at Mactronics opened it up and it had smoke stains on the chassis and the main power strip was melted! Well, needless to say, Mrs U is not much for backing up (seeing as how this IS her backup!) and all her work files were contained herein. So, it was imperative to either repair or attempt data recovery. Shane extracted everything from the disk and loaded the shebang to another drive for us. Saves the day... again! read more

Not so fast. I took my 17" MacBook Pro which I love and is discontinued. Of course the first thing they say is that it's been dropped. All laptops have something on the case that's not showroom perfect. Don't listen to this. They immediately make you feel you did something wrong. The screen was flashing pink. $90 down, $599 for part and another $125 plus tax for labor. I took it to Mr. Notebook for a second opinion. It's not the screen at all it's the board. Where wild ride would MacTronics have taken me on? Experience wins the day on laptop repair just be very weary. I'm sure these guys are good, just ask a lot of questions 1st before handing over your machine . read more
