Brought my computer to Mr. Computer, I was professionally welcomed, he diagnosed my computer, and called me back after checking it out and gave me a fair quote and proceeded to make the necessary repairs. I was pleased with the speed and quality of the repair and the price! Highly recommend Mr. Computer! You will be pleased too! read more

Greg truly went above and beyond to help me with my monitor repair. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and very responsive throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Mr Computer to anyone needing computer services. These are the kinds of local businesses we need to make sure we support and keep around. Thank you again, Greg!! read more

Mr. Computer is honest, reliable and quite friendly. Go without fear. You're in good hands with Mr. C.

Great service and very knowledgeable. Quick turn around time with amazing prices. Had a PC repaired and Macbook air, so you know you're in good hands if you have any of those. read more

Greg at Mr. Computer provided excellent customer service. He repaired my desktop promptly, and for a very fair price. He is extremely knowledgeable. When I picked up the computer, he had attached a hand-written page of notes, of tips of what to do to keep the computer running optimally, and the importance of backing it up regularly. He is very friendly, and the service was done quickly. He even said I could call him when I was cleaning up/removing some old files and he would walk me through the process. I took him up on that, and he spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me making sure I was doing the right things when deleting files, and making other changes. He is a genuinely nice person who likes to help others. He shared that he had worked for one of the big computer companies for years, so he knows his stuff. And to think, I almost took my computer to that big box store that has a "squad" to repair computers and such. I'm sure it would have been a very difference experience there. If I need any desktop, laptop, or cell phones repaired or upgraded, I've found my new go to place: Mr. Computer on S. Lamar. Thanks very much Greg! read more

Mr. Computer restored my MacBook: a new battery, expanded storage/hard drive, and an updated operating system, all at a reasonable cost. I am grateful since Apple considered my product 'obsolete.' My device was in good condition, just needed a reboot. I'm relieved to keep it as a travel computer! I'd grown attached to my little robot over the years. read more

I called Mr. Computer because I spilled liquid on my Mac and my keyboard was excessively sticky. They were not only helpful, but honest. I was walked through what they would do, but then told, it probably still would result in me taking it to Apple Care. Then the unexpected happened. Step-by-step they told me how to navigate Apple, checked that my computer was under warranty, and then set my expectations on how Apple would fix my computer; and they were right. They could've taken my money or just said "go to AppleCare", but they didn't. They treated me like a human. If they took that good of care of a non client, can you imagine how they'll treat you? read more

A++++! Have used these folks way too many times. Lol and always sooo responsive, so fast with the repair service, and best of all, always very reasonable pricing. :) our go to for computer fixes!!! read more

Greg is a godsend. Last night I built a PC for the first time ever (and as most people know, the PC building community & PC experts in general aren't the kindest people), and made a pretty stupid mistake I couldn't figure out. Gave Greg @ Mr. Computer a call, and before I even decided to drive to his location to get it serviced he was extremely patient and tried to take care of the problem with me over the phone for 15 minutes. Never encountered a technician not try to make a quick dollar off of me if they can help it (the previous place I called said to bring in my desktop to take a look for a minimum of $199). Once I arrived, we figured out my rookie mistake in five minutes, and he didn't even let me pay a tip/service fee out of gratitude. Mentioned that "there's no point in charging someone over a valuable learning experience." What a G. Bottom line, totally recommend this shop. read more

This is the second time I have worked with Greg. The first time, he helped restore my hard drive on a Dell laptop. I dropped it off at his office, and work was completed in a couple of days. Price was more than reasonable, and he was thorough in his diagnostics. His work added another 3 years of use. The second time, over the phone (about 20 minutes) he walked me through the process to help restore my "favorites" folders on my new HP laptop after I mistakenly deleted them. I am not a "native" to computers - and on both occasions - Greg was EXCELLENT. He was patient, friendly and professional. It is obvious that he enjoys his craft and solving problems, and it's nice to work with someone with that mindset. Considering the HOURS of time one could spend in a chat room or phone with Dell or HP customer service ... working with Greg / Mr. Computer has been an exceptional experience. read more

I called Greg out of the blue. He told me to come over. My laptop wifi connection wasn't working. He did lots of diagnostics, in addition, loading new security software and updating a bunch of systems. In the end he couldn't help me because my motherboard was bad. (I returned the laptop and got a new one under warranty) But he did all he could do. He was always available. He was pleasant and courteous and patient. He didn't try to sell me a new wifi card because he said I didn't need one. The fee was reasonable. And he even gave me a spare shipping box to send the laptop off. He humanized dehumanizing technology. read more

I called Mr. Computer because of reading the very positive reviews and now couldn't be more in agreement with them. Greg updated my iPad though it is old enough to make that almost impossible and did that just as a gift, in addition to what I brought it in for. It felt that his motivation was just to be kind and helpful and solve the problems presented to him, without concern for financial gain. Thank you so much Greg. read more

He's as good as it gets, he's moved to 210 Lee Barton Dr. Anything from Apple Pro to Dell PC and any phone issues he's done it all for me. Even stopped me from bringing it items in that were an easy fix over the phone. Wish he worked on cars too... anyway 6 out of 5 210 Lee Barton Drive Across from Pitch and Putt (Old Austin, where the Split Rail was). read more

Happened upon Mr.Computer by complete chance but very glad I did. Long story short, I had an issue with my MacBook that, unexplainably, went away by itself. That being said, I called the store before the problem was fixed- Greg answered immediately and spent roughly 20 minutes on the phone with me. I was genuinely just curious about many of the issues I was experiencing and if there were any cheaper options than the quotes I had received from other repair shops. After the call ended, Greg shared some informational videos with me about the stuff I was asking about and genuinely did not seem like someone who was trying to solely get my money. Additionally, he very quickly texted me a few days later when I had a question. Although I never actually took my computer in for servicing, I told Greg I would definitely pay him a visit if I ever had an issue again. read more

I'm a scientist and design and build some of the electronics we use for our experiments. Last year, a colleague and I set out to change the battery in his MacBook Pro. In modern versions of that laptop, the lithium batteries are glued into the enclosure. We were sure we could replace the battery ourselves. Being a little over-zealous with prying up the battery, we nicked it and it caught on fire. Lots of smoke. Lots of sparks and fire. It destroyed the laptop. The lithium fire wouldn't stop. So, when it came that I needed a new battery in MY laptop, I decided to have a pro do it. Apple takes a few days to do it, and the thought of being without my laptop is similar to a teenager without their phone for days. I contacted Greg, aka Mr. Computer, and we arranged for him to order the battery and we met when he was ready to replace it. The price was reasonable, and it was a pleasure to work with him. No fires, no smoke, just a laptop with a new battery. I can still do many things on my own, but if I'm not sure what to do or don't have time to do it, I'll be going to Mr. Computer. read more

Awesome service. Detailed and customer oriented. The man found the issue in my computer and gave me recommendations on how to fix it.

Daughter's Chromebook was failing to recharge. Figured I'd give Greg a shot (maybe it was something easy) but, wasn't worried since they're pretty cheap. He determined a warranty related solution. So, for a small charge the problem is solved. I didn't even know about the warranty. read more

I Highly recommend Mr. Computer! Greg wasn't trying to sell me anything he had me make my own decision he gave options to fix my laptop or buy another laptop and also gave where i can buy another laptop if i decided too. Very Honest person and I felt never rushed he took his time to explain and answer all my questions and i really appreciate him, Great customer service! I will definitely go back to all my computer needs! read more

Found this guy to be a little rude and short with me. Took a week to finish a diagnosis on a problem that should have taken a day or two because he said he got caught up with a more important client. read more

I rarely write reviews, but the service and advice that we received from Greg was so top notch, that I had to comment. We have an issue with our computer and since it was still under warranty, we just needed a professional assessment to submit as evidence. Greg took the time to really listen to our concerns, test a bunch of things over the phone first and then once we handed over the computer, he did an excellent assessment and drafted the letter we needed. All for an excellent price! Next time we have any computer issues, we know where to go! read more

Greg was so responsive. It was the holidays and my computer was starting to freeze for no apparent reason. He worked with me and cleaned up my computer and I was back up and running for the new year. It feels great to know I can always call him when something weird is happening. He has even helped me out over the phone a few times to fix minor stuff without having to take my computer in. 100% recommend this service! read more

I took my MacBook Pro to Mr. Computer after I spilled fizzy water on the keyboard. The service was awesome! They did a full assessment and explained exactly what they did, the issues they found, and what would need to be done. They also talked to me about the price for them to repair vs buying a new one (from which they wouldn't benefit in any way) and told me I was approaching the point at which they tend to urge people to consider buying a new or newish-computer. When I made the decision to do buy new, they offered to transfer everything from my old hard drive to the new one. All of this work cost much less than I expected. On top of providing excellent service and have obvious expertise, they were all about helping me to make the best decision for me. I've since recommended them not only to an employee at the Apple Store, but also to my mom - and what better compliment could you give? :) read more

I cannot say enough good things about Greg and his work. Super responsive, kind, well-priced. I never felt like he was doing extra services to drive up the price, and he explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Really went above and beyond to test things thoroughly and handle my case with care. Plus he does free conprehensive electronics recycling for the community! I have absolutely zero reservations about recommending his services. read more

Superb. I'm a highly experienced IT professional, and my laptop got into an endless BSOD loop. I didn't have time to take care of this, so I brought it to these guys, and they did an excellent job of reblasting my computer. They diagnosed some problems, fixed them and even did a firmware upgrade for me. Their prices were very reasonable, too. I would absolutely use them again. Very solid professional technology skills. read more

This is my first Yelp review. I recently received excellent customer service at Mr. Computer. My son wanted to build a gaming computer but we were unsure of where to begin. Greg quickly responded to my SOS via email and promised he could help. We brought the computer and supplies into the centrally located store off of South Lamar. Greg provided instruction to my son while he put the whole computer together. He went above and beyond my expectations because he patiently instructed my kid, fixed all of our issues, answered questions, and charged us so much less than I thought seemed appropriate for all of the excellent care and help Greg provided. If you need computer expertise at a fair price with excellent customer service visit Mr. Computer. You will leave a very satisfied customer. read more

I called Mr Computer and even though I didn't buy a thing from him, Greg took time and helped me think through my nexts steps on my Mac. Sometimes a 10 year old piece of equipment just isn't worth spending money on! When I need some work to be done, I will definitely go to Mr Computer. read more

Our Brother MFC-L2700DW printer died recently and we were unable to turn it back on. We tried everything we could think of, pressing the on/off button repeatedly, pressing it around the edges, holding it in for a while, but nothing worked. We called around trying to find a Brother service center nearby, but there was none. Finally we did a yahoo search for "printer repair austin" and found Mr. Computer. We called them and we explained to Greg what was going on. This conversation took several minutes of his valuable time. He texted us back some things to try. The very first procedure worked! Holding the button before plugging the power cable back in woke it up from a deep sleep state. We have our expensive Brother printer working again, due to Greg's determination, generosity, and expertise. We highly recommend him to anyone that needs help with their computers and accessories! read more

Trustworthy and kind! I just got my first PC in over 20 years less than 6 months ago, and some spilt water slipped into the vents. I called Mr. Computer and they walked me through every step. Had some issues with my charging port, fan, and updates on my dell 7590 xps15, so I brought it to Greg and he took care of all of my concerns. Greg also provided me some detailed pointers for avoiding complications. Greg is great-- kind, communicative, and knowledgeable! Will be returning to him the next time any problems with my computer come up. Pricing was very fair for the amount of care he put into the service. read more

I took my PC to Mr. Computer for repair a few weeks back. They had scaled back their operations due to the shutdown, but Greg agreed to take a look at it and see what he could do. It had started shutting down after just a few minutes of operation. The issue was difficult to diagnose and isolate. Greg stayed in contact with me throughout the process, asking what behaviors I noticed before the problem came up, and explaining what steps he was taking to fix it. After a little back and forth, my PC was fixed. I picked it up, brought it home, and it's been working good as new ever since. And the repairs were cheap! A lot less expensive than I was expecting. Greg was really easy to work with, friendly, cheerful, upbeat and professional. I highly recommend Mr. Computer to anyone looking for honest, reliable computer repair in Austin. read more

BEWARE. Use this place at your own risk. After they worked on my system there was a small issue that needed resolving so I called to discuss. I was talked down to, interrupted, yelled at, leading to a threat to hang up on me-all due to my redundant requests for help. It was not good. They made a mistake and refused to help me. Saying the encounter sucked would be very accurate. The end. read more

I was in town to check on my elderly parents, and as usual, had a laundry list of administrative details to work through with them. After determining that they had fallen prey to a computer tech support scam, and having other questionable software subscriptions on their credit card bills, I told them we need to find someone local to help them. Greg was an absolute superstar! Not only did he address the technical issues, he was also very patient with my parents, and also happily got on a joint phone a couple of times with me (in Chicago) & my mom (in Austin) to keep me updated on details. Beyond feeling good that their computers are now in order, I also feel more confident that they're less likely to get pulled into a computer scam again, thanks to Greg's support & coaching. He'll be our family go-to guy for computer/IT support from now on. read more

Personal service, knowledgeable, expedient. Was never wondering what was going on. Received texts from Greg when it was ready.

Greg went above and beyond in repairing my son's laptop in time for his first day of college. Not only did he replace a fan inside the device, he updated all the software in need of updates. I'll definitely be calling him again the next time I need a computer serviced. read more

Mr. Computer goes above and beyond! I came in this past week with a nearly inoperable MacBook Pro. It seemed to be an issue with my trackpad - I would lose control of the cursor and often the windows would randomly shift and freeze in between two open windows. Greg and I discussed the behavior I had been experiencing when he and I sat down. Greg kept me updated throughout the repair process and made some great suggestions. Because I spend a lot of time on my laptop for work it was really important to me to get my computer back to peak performance as quickly as possible. Mr. Computer delivered! My computer is running better than when I first bought it and It took less than two days to get my laptop repaired. I've never experienced that kind of turn around. I can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you Mr. Computer! read more

Amazing service. Called me over the phone to discuss my issue before I brought in my laptop, gave me a rough estimate of the cost and was super transparent about what issues my computer might be experiencing. Brought in my laptop that day, turned out it was a super easy fix! Will definitely be going here in the future for any computer issues, and will recommend it to everyone. read more

Wow, I'm so glad I found this place! I have a desktop pc I use for animation, and in the middle of a job, it shut down! Mr. Computer to the rescue! I don't much about computer hardware, but Greg was able to explain to me what was going on with relatable allegories (ie: your heatsink is like the radiator on your car!). He fixed my problem by diligently checking my machine, cleaning it, removing unneeded cached files, fiddling with the hardware and updating important systems like the BIOS. What a relief! I highly recommend Mr. Computer to anyone who wants knowledgeable service for their gaming/video desktop issues. Additionally, if I ever have problems with my Dell Latitude, I'll be sure to bring to Mr. Computer as well, because if he can handle complex heavy duty computers, I'm sure can handle laptops too! Thanks, Greg! read more

NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. Called this "business" during their posted hours and my call got rejected. Soon afterwards I get a test saying "can I call you in a minute?" I called back 2 hours later and he texts me being very very rude, selfish, and very unprofessional.
