Very kind and knowledgeable staff, so grateful to have found this place. They worked with me on my limited budget to repair my computer, and also offered to do the extended cosmetic repairs at a later date with no additional labor cost. Thank you so much again read more

My mom's landline was hacked three years ago. They stole the phone line and had ATT hand it over to a throwaway cellular account on Verizon. They proceeded to use her phone line to apply for credit, etc. Scary, invasive and cruel. The first thing I did when I got back was have Jeremy from Frankenstein Computers help me tackle the hardware aspects of the problem. He was outstanding. I recently needed his help again with an entirely different problem and he solved problems with ease, in no time flat. Worth every dollar. read more

Was sold a 'replacement' computer that did NOT have the proper cable output for my network. Was told problem was the cable, so bought one, didn't work, but bought another, which didn't work either. paid hourly rate to tech to route cables thru walls, only to learn that the computer itself was the root problem. Tony, who seems to manage all finances, not only refused any request for offsets, but refused to discuss the issue, forcing me to pay his total balance of $3000, then banning me from further service. The management style is heavily passive aggressive, and the result is thousands spent with no end in sight to a functioning network. Tony REFUSES to speak w me now, much less come see the problem that his company has created, and now I must pick through all the parts left scattered around my office by the tech, who ALSO is avoiding calls. $135 Per hour to route cables that were never going to work, but NOW its all my fault for not specifying an exact computer replacement, when they ALONE decided which computer I needed. Does this sound like a company you wanna work with? read more

I highly recommend Frankenstein Computers. I had taken my laptop to a national big box that has a "nerd" squad. They quoted me $200-$300 more to replace the mother board and said I needed to pay for a data transfer (another $135.00 plus cost of the motherboard) OR I could just buy a new computer, pay for a service plan ($200) and they would transfer my data which would have come close to $1k. Frankenstein told me I didn't need a data transfer with a motherboard replacement and charged for labor and parts which was pretty straightforward. I estimate I saved $200 on the motherboard replacement or $600 if I had to buy the new computer. Repair took about a week (through a holiday), but was reasonable given they had to order a part. They communicated throughout the process. I definitely will go back! read more

I upgraded motherboard and Windows. Great communication of what to expect, cost, and regular updates on progress. Check ins along the way. Excellent customer care from Ariel and John. Multiple options given for repair and reasonable quotes without having to buy into a monthly contract expense. They applied the payment for diagnostic to the final bill as a discount. Consistent experience over the years. read more

Once again, Frankenstein Computers has done an excellent job for our church! I took a 3-year-old Dell OptiPlex 5000 SFF desktop computer in for repairs on March 2. John Cloud diagnosed a failed memory stick (oh no! they cost so much now!). I supplied an "extra" memory stick from one of the other computers at our church and John continued the repair diagnosing and fixing some particularly nasty software errors that had resulted from the initial hardware failure. All of our installed software now works reliably again! Great job! The machine was back in service on March 5 for a very reasonable repair cost! We will continue to use Frankenstein Computers for all of the repairs that are too complicated for us locally. Neil Howard Cedar Park First United Methodist church read more

After a system update, I could not connect to my internet network. I sent an inquiry to Frankenstein about the problem and what they charged. They sent me a response saying "try this." It fixed the problem. He could have said he changed $x.xx and I would have probably brought it in. This is an example of terrific public relations and customer service. I handle a small non-profit and I had used Nerdz in a Flash before they cancelled serving really small businesses - called Frankenstein based in quite a few good ratings. It is true - they are fast, efficient, professional and I highly recommend Jeremy - very good in his area of computer expertise. Thank you for making my life easier - I've already referred Jeremy to my neighbor down the street. read more

MS applied BitLocker to my computer without warning. I could no longer use my computer since I did not have the 48 character password. Research showed the only apparent way forward was to reinstall Windows 11 and lose all of my data. I took the computer to Frankenstein to have this done and John was able to fix my problem without the reinstall and data loss. Thank you for your great help John read more

My daughter's laptop had a bad hinge and another shop (I won't mention the name) told me it would be ready in about 2 weeks. The time came and went and I drove to the shop to investigate. The other shop's tech was on leave and it was going to be about 4 weeks, but they would never have told me until it was too late. I scrambled to find a shop. Discount Electronics recommended Frankenstein. Not only did Frankenstein fix it, they fixed it more quickly than promised! Great service, great communication! read more

Excellent experience with Frankenstein Computers. 1. They responded to my request for a quote within 10 minutes. 2. They were more than fair in their charges - They examined a machine of mine that wouldn't boot, didn't find anything physically wrong, and reinstalled the OS for me at a reduced price. Now it boots up fine! 3. Service was quick, took one day. 4. Fast and friendly service! All in all, I'd highly recommend their service. read more

My teen daughter dropped her laptop on the bus...it was just over a year old , so out of warranty , but I didn't want to have to replace the whole system. The damage was to the latch and the case. Highly recommend for fast, reliable, and trustworthy service. I took my personal laptop in to have the battery replaced, first time to use Frankenstein Computers and Networking. I was a little worried, not having worked with them before, that they might try to up-sell me on services I knew I didn't need, but was relieved that this wasn't the case. The service was courteous, focused on necessary repair, and really fast. Price was very reasonable. Trust is very important to me with any work involving computer maintenance, and I'm thrilled that I now have a solid service provider I can rely on for any future maintenance needs. I was lucky I did not destroy my MacBook Air when I dropped it and I was even more fortunate to choose Frankenstein Computers, based on Yelp reviews. While I was bracing for the likelihood of spending another 1k to replace my laptop, Nick was diagnosing and re-soldering a broken connector coil. In 1 day and for a tiny fraction of the replacement cost, I have my Mac back good as new. Thank you so much for the honest, efficient, and expert service! You have a new, lifelong customer. Frankenstein computers has been the easiest, quickest, and most helpful service I've ever received. I had emailed them with a question after hours and received a response back the very next morning! They were so kind and answered all of my questions while providing me links on what products they recommended and price quotes. We talked back and forth several times and each email was so prompt and thorough. I finally made it in and they were all SO kind. The work was done literally lightening fast and I knew all the costs up front. I think the biggest thing for me was the fact that they never made me feel silly or stupid by my questions and emails. Computers can be intimidating, but they did an excellent job of explaining things to me in a way that helped and didn't make me feel dumb. Highly recommend these nice people!!! read more

I broke my 4-year-old Dell Vostro 5501 laptop during an attempted upgrade. I bent the tiny battery connection pins on the motherboard when attempting to re-plug the battery. On May 2, I took the laptop to Frankenstein for diagnosis to see if it could be straightened out and fixed. Ariel at the front counter was very helpful getting me checked in and processing the diagnostic fee. Technician John Cloud evaluated the situation, tried to straighten the pins I had bent, but declared the motherboard really need to be replaced. He gave me a quote for the mobo replacement. At the time I decided to just get a newer used laptop and I moved the upgrade parts to the new machine. A couple of days later, I decided that the mobo replacement was actually a good cost-effective deal, so I took the broken machine back to Frankenstein. John Cloud found a mobo that was even less expensive than his original quote, ordered the part and a few days later replaced the defective mobo. I was able to pay for the mobo by credit card online via a link in an email John sent. My broken laptop was give a new lease on life by this repair. Through all the process, the Frankenstein people communicated frequently and clearly by email the status of the repair. Best of all, the labor for the mobo replacement was covered by the original diagnostic fee! Am I a happy camper! I highly recommend Frankenstein Computers for repairs. They have great people, they really know what they are doing and they charge very fair rates!!! read more

Just want to be very clear, I do not have any issues with the folks here in terms of their knowledge and skills in computers and networking!!! Definitely don't have any issues with coming to FCN for diagnostics on my computer. However, I was actually disappointed on how they chose to handled an issue which then led to another issue: I brought my newly built PC in for service. I am running a Ryzen 5000 series CPU on an ASRock X570 motherboard. Upon initial install of the components, I was not able to boot to POST. I only had 1 processor so I couldn't test or update bios version. FCN was quickly able to diagnose the issue as CPU not working. Jonathan "updated" the bios to the latest version that could support the new Ryzens. I appreciate that I was charged on 30 mins on the invoice. But, the one of issues is, when I got the PC back, I decided to do more troubleshooting. I had my friend bring over his 5900x to test to see if it was indeed a DOA CPU. The 5900x also did not post. I bought a Ryzen 3000 series chip to check because there was no way that two fresh CPUs were DOA. I was able to get a POST and saw that the bios was never updated (was still at 2.60). Updated the bios to the required version (3.31) and now everything works. I called FCN to let them know that they essentially did half the job, I guess maybe that's why I was charged only 30mins instead of the full hour. I played phone tag for a bit with the tech who was handling my rig. Then when I finally got some the next day, I was able to speak with Ryan (manager). This is the second issue I have with FCN. Ryan essentially regurgitated the details back to me on what I was being charged for. A diagnostic and a bios update. I was not able to speak as he would just talk over me each so, almost like his way of telling me to keep my mouth shut and not raise any complaints to him. I thought that was extremely rude as he was not trying to hear what I had to say and stood behind his tech 100%. So when I told him that I have proof of the bios never being updated, he just shook that off and said that "oh, then I guess the update never held". I don't get that, how a bios doesn't hold.the tech claimed to have updated the bios and then put my 5000 series chip in after and still did not post. If this is the case, shouldn't he have checked the bios again?! Ryan did offer for me to drive the PC back to the shop for them to do another run on the servicing. I live 30 mins away and I've already fixed the issue. I had high hopes for FCN when I researched places that do pc repair. I'm just really disappointed that I did not get the same experience that I see on some of these other reviews. Point here to FCN is: -check and check again. -be understanding to your customers and allow them to voice their grievances so you both can take a step forward. De-escalate, don't make it worse. read more

Frankenstein helped put together my husband's work PC a few years ago, so I knew they were going to do a great job in building my new custom PC. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and recommended I have my PC built by a 3rd party, Build Redux, since they would be able to source computer parts much cheaper and I would save a lot of money. Really appreciated that he had my back on keeping things affordable! He even sat on the phone with me for about 20 minutes and went over all the different options for the processor, memory and storage. He really went above and beyond to make sure I was getting the best PC for my needs at a good price, which was awesome since I'm a small business owner and not super knowledgeable about PC building. I took Jonathan's advice and had the PC built through Build Redux, and then brought it to Frankenstein to make sure everything was correctly installed, properly working, as well as to have the SSD cloned to the new system. I work from home and do the majority of my work on my PC, so I was thrilled when it took them less than 24 hours to finish my ticket! They even made sure my old PC was still useable as a back-up, cleaned all the dust out of it, and replaced the CPU heat sink. Our family had a great experience with Frankenstein in the past and I'm glad to report this time was no different! The staff are lovely and thoughtful, they went out of their way to help me understand my options and advise me on how to get the right PC for my needs, and were, as always, prompt, friendly, and honest. Thanks again guys! :) read more
