Was sold a 'replacement' computer that did NOT have the proper cable output for my network. Was told problem was the cable, so bought one, didn't work, but bought another, which didn't work either. paid hourly rate to tech to route cables thru walls, only to learn that the computer itself was the root problem. Tony, who seems to manage all finances, not only refused any request for offsets, but refused to discuss the issue, forcing me to pay his total balance of $3000, then banning me from further service. The management style is heavily passive aggressive, and the result is thousands spent with no end in sight to a functioning network. Tony REFUSES to speak w me now, much less come see the problem that his company has created, and now I must pick through all the parts left scattered around my office by the tech, who ALSO is avoiding calls. $135 Per hour to route cables that were never going to work, but NOW its all my fault for not specifying an exact computer replacement, when they ALONE decided which computer I needed. I highly recommend Frankenstein Computers. I had taken my laptop to a national big box that has a "nerd" squad. They quoted me $200-$300 more to replace the mother board and said I needed to pay for a data transfer (another $135.00 plus cost of the motherboard) OR I could just buy a new computer, pay for a service plan ($200) and they would transfer my data which would have come close to $1k. Frankenstein told me I didn't need a data transfer with a motherboard replacement and charged for labor and parts which was pretty straightforward. I estimate I saved $200 on the motherboard replacement or $600 if I had to buy the new computer. Repair took about a week (through a holiday), but was reasonable given they had to order a part. Once again, Frankenstein Computers has done an excellent job for our church! I took a 3-year-old Dell OptiPlex 5000 SFF desktop computer in for repairs on March 2. John Cloud diagnosed a failed memory stick (oh no! they cost so much now!). I supplied an "extra" memory stick from one of the other computers at our church and John continued the repair diagnosing and fixing some particularly nasty software errors that had resulted from the initial hardware failure. I broke my 4-year-old Dell Vostro 5501 laptop during an attempted upgrade. I bent the tiny battery connection pins on the motherboard when attempting to re-plug the battery. On May 2, I took the laptop to Frankenstein for diagnosis to see if it could be straightened out and fixed. Ariel at the front counter was very helpful getting me checked in and processing the diagnostic fee. Technician John Cloud evaluated the situation, tried to straighten the pins I had bent, but declared the motherboard really need to be replaced. He gave me a quote for the mobo replacement. At the time I decided to just get a newer used laptop and I moved the upgrade parts to the new machine. A couple of days later, I decided that the mobo replacement was actually a good cost-effective deal, so I took the broken machine back to Frankenstein. John Cloud found a mobo that was even less expensive than his original quote, ordered the part and a few days later replaced the defective mobo. I was able to pay for the mobo by credit card online via a link in an email John sent. My broken laptop was give a new lease on life by this repair. Through all the process, the Frankenstein people communicated frequently and clearly by email the status of the repair. Best of all, the labor for the mobo replacement was covered by the original diagnostic fee! Am I a happy camper! I highly recommend Frankenstein Computers for repairs. Just want to be very clear, I do not have any issues with the folks here in terms of their knowledge and skills in computers and networking!!! Definitely don't have any issues with coming to FCN for diagnostics on my computer. However, I was actually disappointed on how they chose to handled an issue which then led to another issue: I brought my newly built PC in for service. I am running a Ryzen 5000 series CPU on an ASRock X570 motherboard. Upon initial install of the components, I was not able to boot to POST. I only had 1 processor so I couldn't test or update bios version. FCN was quickly able to diagnose the issue as CPU not working. Jonathan "updated" the bios to the latest version that could support the new Ryzens. I appreciate that I was charged on 30 mins on the invoice. But, the one of issues is, when I got the PC back, I decided to do more troubleshooting. I had my friend bring over his 5900x to test to see if it was indeed a DOA CPU. The 5900x also did not post. I bought a Ryzen 3000 series chip to check because there was no way that two fresh CPUs were DOA. I was able to get a POST and saw that the bios was never updated (was still at 2.60). Updated the bios to the required version (3.31) and now everything works. I called FCN to let them know that they essentially did half the job, I guess maybe that's why I was charged only 30mins instead of the full hour. I played phone tag for a bit with the tech who was handling my rig. Then when I finally got some the next day, I was able to speak with Ryan (manager). This is the second issue I have with FCN. Ryan essentially regurgitated the details back to me on what I was being charged for. A diagnostic and a bios update. I was not able to speak as he would just talk over me each so, almost like his way of telling me to keep my mouth shut and not raise any complaints to him. I thought that was extremely rude as he was not trying to hear what I had to say and stood behind his tech 100%. So when I told him that I have proof of the bios never being updated, he just shook that off and said that "oh, then I guess the update never held". I don't get that, how a bios doesn't hold.the tech claimed to have updated the bios and then put my 5000 series chip in after and still did not post. If this is the case, shouldn't he have checked the bios again?! Ryan did offer for me to drive the PC back to the shop for them to do another run on the servicing. I live 30 mins away and I've already fixed the issue. I had high hopes for FCN when I researched places that do pc repair. I'm just really disappointed that I did not get the same experience that I see on some of these other reviews. Point here to FCN is: -check and check again. -be understanding to your customers and allow them to voice their grievances so you both can take a step forward. De-escalate, don't make it worse. read more

Frankenstein helped put together my husband's work PC a few years ago, so I knew they were going to do a great job in building my new custom PC. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and recommended I have my PC built by a 3rd party, Build Redux, since they would be able to source computer parts much cheaper and I would save a lot of money. He even sat on the phone with me for about 20 minutes and went over all the different options for the processor, memory and storage.
