Horrible customer service. They didn't bother to text, email, or call when they detected liquid in my device. When you call their line, you'll often be forwarded to voicemail and they lack the decency to call you back. Please, please think twice before going to this location. When I returned to pickup my device that they didn't even service (which was in the shop for over a month) they took over ten months looking for my device and I heard whispers asking other service members where my device is. I can't believe that they lack the respect as they are genuinely rude people and I would highly advise against going here!! When they have you sign a peeper, they place the paper and the store workers will sign the paper on top of your device. The store is cluttered and disorganized. The service workers and rude and disrespectful. I left, over 4 weeks later with a device that no longer works and am beyond frustrated. read more

The display on my daughter's Apple iPhone became dark and fuzzy. I dreaded going to the Apple store since mall parking is no fun and it can be a bit claustrophobic there. Luckily, Austin MacWorks was able to help! Super easy parking and they were able to help me immediately. I interacted with Trevor and Ethan while at the store. They were both very patient with me and even took the time to ask me if I wanted to peel off the stickers on her phone for safe keeping since they may need to replace the back part of the phone. There's no difference in price taking your Mac here or going to the Apple Store. They want $495.00 before tax for a 2017 - 15" Mac Book Pro Battery! 3 to 7 day turn around. I found another Apple Certified Service provider who quoted $219.00 for the same new Battery before tax. 1 hour turn around. Pic below is what an Apple Battery can do when it fails. These people are the best of the very best. Took in my iPhone and iPad the same day. Owners have had store for several years. They did a quick diagnostics, needed to order a part for the iPhone, let me take it with me, part was FedEx'd in. I went back the next day at 4:30 pm, and iPhone was ready in 30 minutes. Because iPhone still under Apple Care warranty, and this is an authorized Apple service center, my only cost was for a new screen protector (which they put on) and case. They needed to FedEx the iPad to an Apple service center, and was back in two days. iPad also still under Apple Care warranty, and only cost was for new screen. Apple advised me to take my old, old Mac here. After years of no activity, the login screen came right up but the keyboard didn't register. They solved the problem and now I can see all of the old photos that I had scanned to this machine and move them to a more modern destination. Computer issues can be super stressful, especially with Macs - Just the thought of having to go to the cluster that is the Apple Store makes me annoyed and anxious. So, when the display on my 6 month old 2019 MacBook Pro broke I opted to go here instead (found it through the Apple Support page online and made an appointment. PS- you really don't need an appointment here as they are super flexible and each time I went in, I only waited about 3-5 minutes to talk with someone). They were able to check my warranty and Apple Care, and were able to determine that it could be repaired for FREE (always get the Apple Care, y'all). They also had the part ordered before I left the store and my computer was repaired and ready for pickup in just under 48 hours! This was the most non-stressful technical experience I have ever had, and they did a great job with the repair. Plus, they returned my laptop fully charged which was awesome, because I didn't expect it to be done so soon and left my charger at home. They also sell many Mac products, so this will definitely be where I do my crowd-free Apple stuff from here on out. 10/10 would recommend this MacWorks location! read more

My computer, which I previously purchased from Austin MacWorks, was in their shop for 15 days with no information on it's condition except when I called (3 times) and was informed that it was still to be examined. I finally got an email stating that "he was unable to find anything that could be causing the speed issues." The recommended solution offered was "to replace the hard drive with a solid state drive" at a cost of $199.00 plus labor of $189.00 and a Backup Drive of $99.00. While waiting I noticed around a dozen used Apple monitors hidden under a table. I forgot to ask about them but you definitely should. This place does not run diagnostics on Macs. Instead of trying to fix issues in store, they immediately recommend shipping computers off for repairs AND recommend their $250 a week computer rentals. Please go to an actual Apple store before coming here. My story: Apple allows you to make appointments here as let of their Genius Bar service. I did this for my MacBook which had some pretty gnarly keyboard issues. My gut told me to book an appointment at the actual Apple store, however MacWorks was able to fit me in much earlier. Without running tests, opening the computer or really any due diligence, the employee told me that my computer had water damage. He said this was obvious due to dried up water on my keys. I explained I had cleaned the keyboard with a slightly damp rag the night prior (well after the issues had begun). Despite explaining that I had done this AFTER the issues began, he continued to tell me this was the cause of my computer woes and that my computer had to be sent in for repairs. I quickly thanked him, left, and drove to the Apple store where the techs ran diagnostics, cleaned my keyboard, and sent me home with a working computer - for free :) read more

I was referred over to MacWorks by a [rather unpleasant] customer service rep I spoke to at Apple. The guys at Macworks were ready and waiting when I arrived for my appointment: kind, helpful, and shared some useful tools that would help me with my device in addition to helping with my faulty phone battery. Before my appointment I received via email what I would need to bring with me, and they very clearly stated that although they could evaluate the situation when I came in, they would need to order the battery specifically for my device. (This is something beyond their control, as determined by Apple). They also clearly shared in the email that ordering the battery would take 1-2 weeks. I'm wondering if others that have left negative feedback below neglected to read the information that was shared with them? Justin helped me even though he was clearly busy with another customers repair ( I didn't get the name of the gentleman that help me the previous time I stopped in but he was equally beyond helpful). Justin's level of service transcended my expectations by about 1000%. He assisted me with no judgement & complete empathy. I left relieved to get my issue taken care of at no charge. Contrary to another Apple authorized dealer in Austin that I had worked with before, I was treated with complete transparency & was not lied to nor treated in a dismissive & condescending manner by Austin Macworks. After deciding to upgrade the hard drive on my older iMac, I contacted MacWorks through their website's contact email/form. Brandon got back to me quickly and discussed the options with me as well as possible pitfalls to what I was trying to do. To save myself a few dollars I actually sourced my own hard drive and arranged for them to do the install. I went to the store and met Brandon face to face. I was expecting the job to take 4-5 days, but Brandon worked it in for me the same day. I have bought a couple of things from them in the past. The owner is very nice but after I took my iMac in due to no video after upgrading to a SSD HD, I had no video. The technician quoted me a very large repair price for replacing the entire video display. I Didn't feel comfortable with that quote so I took it to Apple for a 2nd opinion. Instead of $600...Apple diagnosed it as a faulty ribbon cable. I had pinched the cable putting it back together . The repair cost around $100. My iMac is better and faster than ever with the 1TB SSD. Austin MacWorks, you are my heroes! A few weeks ago, my 2 yr old MacBook Pro experienced the black screen of death. It was working great, and all of the sudden, the screen went blank, never to return. Thinking that my Apple Care would have taken care of the problem under warranty, I made an appointment at the Apple Store. Well, they took one look at a small dent in the top of my computer and a slight bowing in the key board, and told me that Apple would not be able to fix the problem under warranty b/c there was physical damage to the computer that "could have" been the reason for the problem I was experiencing. They didn't take it apart, they didn't even attempt to diagnose the problem, they just told me that it would be anywhere from $750-$1300 to fix my computer b/c they would have to replace all the afflicted parts with new ones. They gave me a list of certified Apple repair retailers around Austin, and said that one of these might be able to help fix the problem less expensively. I asked for a recommendation of which one was the best, but the Mac "genius" said he could not recommend any, but gave me a little "wink, wink" and pointed to Austin MacWorks. So I went into Austin MacWorks that afternoon...just walked in...no appointment neccessary. They couldn't have been nicer. They listened to my story (a fairly common one, apparently). I was nearly in tears at that point b/c my life, my business, everything was on that computer, and I couldn't access any of it! The thought of repairs costing me enough to buy a brand new computer was giving me heart palpitations. They said that it would be $45 to diagnose the computer, then, depending on what they found, it would be my choice whether or not to have it fixed with them, and the $45 would go toward the repairs if they determined that they weren't covered under my warranty. They called me a few days later, and said that they thought that the problem should be covered under my warranty, and that they were going to send the computer off to Apple, plead my case for me, and see if it could be fixed for free. All I had to do was come in with my external hard drive, and have them back up all my data, so we didn't run the risk of losing anything when they sent the computer off. That was $90...for all of my data to be backed up (remember, I couldn't do it myself b/c I couldn't see anything on the screen)...a small price to pay, I say! 2 days later, they called me and said that my computer was back, fixed, and that the repairs were covered under my Apple Care! Hallelujah! So, in the end, I paid less than $150 to Austin MacWorks to get my computer back to it's normal self, when I could have paid Apple no less than $750 to fix a problem that should have been fixed under warranty anyway. Thank you Austin MacWorks for being so kind, and a real advocate for me and my computer! I will recommend you to everyone I know who owns a Mac! read more

I'm not sure whether this is a totally fair review considering I didn't go in and PAY for a service. However, I did receive service. And here's why. I drop in the AT&T store (next door) because I've had the most irritating lack of service problem for the past two weeks. The Chad helps me out -- he's a nice phone dude and activates a new SIM card for me BEFORE we take the old one out. Then we try and get the old SIM card out and both fail miserably. He suggests I go talk to the dudes next door at MacWorks. I head over and encounter John Johnson, who helped me out for no charge. I'm sure they get AT&T folks coming over all the time for stupid crap like that but he just smiled and got out a huge pair of tweezers. For one terrifying moment, I thought it was some vague hint about my brows but then he plied that tool and popped the SIM card tray out. I took my old phone back to AT&T and we were able to complete the transfer. It was a little thing but totally crucial. if I'm ever supposed to actually use my phone for you know, work. Or taxis at 2a. If I have issues with my other Mac products, I'll bring them here. That's how you get customers for life. read more

My fiancé whipped into the MacWorks parking lot last weekend immediately after I mentioned that my iphone was about to die and that I didn't have a car charger. We walked into the store and were pleasantly greeted and told the salesperson that I needed a car charger. I think the car charger & the cord were around $12 each, but he said he'd sell them to both for $18...awesome!! (As a side note -- we also checked the AT&T store next door & their chargers were $29.99). Unfortunately, the car charger wouldn't work with my phone :( although it did work w/ the salesperson's iphone. When I walked back in they let me try a new charger & cord to see if that was the problem & when that didn't work they promptly refunded me and apologized. It was actually kind of sad that I needed a refund b/c I actually WANTED to spend money in there because of the great service we received. Skip Best Buy & visit these guys the next time you need anything Mac related! read more

We took my daughter's Apple laptop here because it was running slow and wasn't charging. And I didn't want to deal with the hassle of taking it to an Apple Store. The intake process was quick, efficient, and we got all of the information we needed. But, this guy was so gruff and short with us that it was comical--it was like the G&M Steakhouse in the 80s--performance art! We received our diagnostic call a day earlier than the time Porcupine Man gave us. The technician was pleasant to deal with. He said the laptop needed a new battery and additional memory sticks. He told us this was simple work that would not take long, but we left without an estimate of the number of days it would take to get the work done. This was a mistake. After several days (over a week) passed without any contact from Austin MacWorks, we visited the store to check on their progress with the laptop. It was finished! I don't know how long it had been sitting there.The person who checked us out was surprised that we had not gotten a call to say that the repair/upgrade was complete. Regardless, the charge was reasonable and the computer works quite well now. So there you are. Honestly, I don't know how to fairly rate this business. They have a person meeting with customers who should not be doing that, but he is competent. They called us with a correct diagnosis earlier than expected. Their technical service was excellent. They don't overcharge. The failure to call us after the work was complete was not good, but if we'd had a compelling need for the laptop, we'd have called sooner and found out it was finished. They are far more convenient than the Apple Store, which is about 75% of the reason we went there in the first place. I'm going to give them four stars because they got the things that matter right.. read more
