What a wonderful restaurant! I'm in town on business and I love Peruvian and Mexican food. I thought I'd give them a try and I'm glad I did. The chef obviously has a good grasp of both cuisines. The steak burritos are made with lomo saltado and they're delicious. I highly recommend. The prices are very reasonable and the menu is incredibly creative. I'll return the next time I'm in town. There are many selections I want to try! read more

Wow. I came here to get pancakes from the place next door. I saw this place, and it was lunchtime, and I looked at the menu. The chorizo and steak tacos caught my eye and I decided I could get pancakes another time. I'm so glad I did! Flavorful, fresh, beautifully presented. I also ordered white rice and sourdough bread. Could not finish it all. Such wonderful, kind service as well. If I'm ever back in town, I'll be back. Hit them up!!!! You'll be happy. read more

I am not a person who normally writes reviews, however I think Macizo merits a review. I read an article stating that the chef/owners were 2 of the 4 quarter finalists from Indiana for the James Beard award. They did not disappoint. We were greeted by the owner who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Unaware that they were participating in devour Indy, we decided to order from that menu upon seeing it. We started with a special app of a cheese, roasted pablano, and corn dip with housemade focaccia. Excellent dish, dip was flavorful and creamy, but the star was the focaccia, best I've had. My wife and I got the same entree, 4 chicken enchiladas, 2 mole, 2 Verde. Both were superb with wonderful flavors. For dessert we had the pear pound cake, a perfect ending, great flavor with out being to sweet and went great with the vanilla ice-cream. Surprisingly the devour menu includes a drink. We opted for red sangria. Best sangria I've had, drank more like a good cocktail, light, refreshing, with a nice lime undertone. Was a lot of food for a lunch, so we took everything we couldn't finish home. With a to go order of the amazing focaccia and a jar of the made in house salsa Macha, will have another lunch. Staff was wonderfully kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. Couldn't rate higher and hope this establishment has great success! read more

This restaurant is amazing! We stumbled upon this restaurant looking for something other than sandwiches and it did not disappoint! The people were extremely nice, the ambiance was nice, clean, and enjoyable. Everything we ordered was amazing! They only have 2 desserts so we ordered both and they were very good. We will definitely come back! read more

Peruvian flair to Mexican food was INCREDIBLE! Definitely not ordinary fare. It was extraordinary- the flavors, the textures, the blends. Staff is especially kind, efficient, and full of information. Luz is one of the sweetest, most energetic restaurateurs we've met. The menu is concise but incredible range of flavors. Restaurant is clean, room, quaint decor, fun dishes and tableware. Aroma was absolutely heavenly...we wanted whatever smelled so scrumptious! The portions are perfect. We were full but had hard time stopping because food was so good. Homemade bread perfect for sopping up sauces. We'll be back again and again so we can try more of the dishes. Prices were fair for the quality of food. read more

Short version: New locally owned restaurant with great food. Absolutely worth a visit, and we're going to be back soon. Longer version: We visited on a weeknight, arriving around 5:30p. They've only been open for about a month. Service was attentive and friendly, food flew out of the kitchen, and the restaurant itself is clean and well put together. We had: Guajolata toast: Appetizer size, great for 2-3. Great piece of sourdough with a small tamal, refried beans, mole sauce, and salsa criolla Great mix of flavors and textures. Sopa criolla: This was a really big bowl of fantastic soup. Delicious and rich broth with a perfectly cooked egg, served with their home baked sourdough. Mole enchiladas: Enchiladas with house-made tortillas, and a terrific mole. Best mole I've had in the US. The perfect balance between that savory and sweet, and the externally provided condiments were great about letting me titrate my desired spice level. I ate every bite, and then asked for a piece of the sourdough on the side so that I could soak up and savor all of the sauce. +HIZO Bread a la mode: Seasonal, was a peach -based pound cake served with honey, ice cream a la mode, and some honey sprinkled with pistachios. This was solid, but the only part of the meal that wasn't exceptional; the pound cake itself was just a little on the drier side and cut thick enough that the ice cream/honey couldn't soak through everything. Still good, but not as outstanding as the rest. Purple horchata: Smooth, great flavor, and a perfect complement to the spice that I added into my dish. read more

Macizo Restaurant - Mole enchiladas (closer), Sopa criolla (far) with nearly finished purple horchata in the middle - Peruvian Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I had an incredible first experience at Macizo recently! I was greeted right away and there was plenty of seating. This is a Mexican restaurant with a Peruvian twist. The owner was our server and she told us she is Peruvian and her husband is Mexican and this restaurant's food is inspired by how they cook at home. We started with the ube horchata, which I cannot recommend enough! Perfectly sweet and the purple drink is so aesthetically pleasing and unique. We started with a new item they were showcasing that was not on the menu yet, the tacos de picadillo with ground beef and potatoes. We ordered the pasta huancina and the enchiladas. You can do half verde sauce and half mole on the enchiladas so we did that. She told us her husband also loves to bake bread and the pasta came with a very fresh delicious piece of sourdough. We also ordered a side of the focaccia which she brought out telling us that it was fresh out the oven, and you could tell! The enchiladas were great. The chicken enchiladas were smothered in a generous portion of the mole and the verde, both of which had deep flavor. The pasta huancina was my favorite. The sauce was unlike anything I'd had before! Highly recommend. Everyone needs to be talking about this place! They have something special and unique. I will definitely be back. read more

We can' say enough good thing about this place. Genuine and authentic. We found this on the internet (looking for new and uniques eatery in Indianapolis) which was not hyped by Tiktok nor IG. This is a place that bring Mexican / Peruvian dishes from their 'back home' (how it is made and eaten!) to life here. Owners/chefs are from Mexico and Peru. The ingredients are fresh (they make their Tiger's Milk every day/ every time freshly used!) and the flavors are remarkable. The waitress/hostess/owner would tell us her favorites which you cannot go wrong with. The tuna (cerviche) and guacamole appetizers are must have. They are not the usual American style. Also make sure you get to enjoy their home baked bread! Our younger guests love the yuba horchata (Purple Horchata). We hope this place will continue to do well and stay as a gem in the community and the neighborhood. read more

Absolutely NOT just another Mexican restaurant. Peru was fully present with its textures and spices. Its definitely a try new things kind of restaurant. Don't be afraid to try 2 dishes at once as the portions are slightly smaller than average. That said, thats what also gives it that elevated, fancy, feel. Especially with their food presentation. There is a very obvious passion for sharing their flavorful culture with those that are unfamiliar. read more

I lived in Seattle for about ten years. One of the hardest parts about moving from a foodie city to Indy has been the lack of authentic anything. It's all chains and food service of America food - because of that, I rarely go out to eat. Our neighbors recommended Macizo so we went to check it out. SO GOOD. The food is fresh, authentic, and delicious, and it was tough to pick out what I wanted to eat with so many amazing-sounding options. Our family will definitely be back - can't wait to try the other dishes! read more

So glad we tried Macizo after reading about it in the Indy Star. The food was delicious and we thought we don't live in that particular part of Indy we've added it to our "well worth the drive" establishments. The food was delicious and plentiful. The restaurant's backstory and future vision is engaging. The ambiance is coming along as they grow but the taverna style seating is charming and comfortable. The staff was knowledgeable and could easily point out such things as gluten free options. This is a husband and wife establishment both bringing the best of their Peruvian and Mexican culture. Definately give this a try. read more
