I don't know if this is a MAC Cosmetics regional thing but the employees of the MAC store in the Glendale Mall & at the Americana are some of the WORST I've EVER come across and I've been a MAC customer for over 15 years. And having just relocated from NYC, I should know about bad customer service. Walked in Glendale Mall location yesterday because I needed a few things. The store wasn't particularly busy & the girl that offered to help me was already 'over it'. (She was a Latin-looking girl that had a 20s pin-up sort of look - with heavy winged liner and her hair up with a scarf.) Her demeanor was cold and anything but helpful. She knew very little about the products she was showing me and had to go and check ingredients and product descriptions that she should know by heart. Talking to her felt like pulling teeth, like she couldn't be bothered to engage in a conversation about what she was showing me and she seemed one step away from sighing and rolling her eyes. I was so annoyed, I walked out without buying a thing. I went into the Americana store this past Thursday and bought several products. I knew exactly what I wanted and the girl helping me there was also aloof and 'going through the motions'. I chalked it up to being an isolated incident but after experiencing the same demeanor from the Glendale MAC employee I have to say it's a MAC customer service training thing. Estee Lauder, pay attention & train your employees to be helpful and engaging! If they can't be bothered to treat customers with attention & care then they shouldn't be in retail. I came to this store to buy foundation today and I experienced the worst customer service here. Most MAC stores have been really helpful but this girl was not helpful at all. The lady who helped me continued to correct me every time I said something wrong. IOf course I don't know the name of every product, which is the exact reason why I even asked this girl for help. She had a bad attitude and talked to me like I was an idiot. Your job is to help, not to make someone to feel stupid. I have been to many MAC stores and by far this one had the worst customer service. I'm encounter was brief but that's because the women who worked there were stuck up bitches who thought they were too good to do their job. Usually when you go to a MAC store, it's packed with people and the staff are all over the place tending to many customers. However, that was not the case here. The store was near empty, only about 5 people including me. I wanted to get some of their foundation and needed help matching my color. I looked around myself and decided to wait and see if anyone would approach me to help. No one did and one of the clown-faced girls looked right at me then turned the other way! I was so pissed that I dropped the foundation on the table and walked out. One of the other girls realized that some money was walking out of their dull store so she rushed up to me and asked in her most kiss ass voice, "oh did you need some help?" But it was too late. I have a few items from MAC that are holy grail for me, I usually order online but I was at the mall today and had a couple of items I wanted to B2M, I went in looked around for a bit (already knew what I wanted) and when I was ready I looked up to see if someone could help me. I made eye contact with every single artist there and nobody asked me if I needed help, I was aware that some were working with other clients but at stores like this I think knowing how to multi-task is essential to getting more commission. Finally after about ten minutes of being ignored, I say ignored because one of the female artists literally walked in front and past me and bumped into to me a little, no excuse me, no have you been helped, nothing. Finally, I stopped one of the Male artists and kindly asked him if he could help me and he says to me "Do you need help with something because I'm working with someone" in a haughty tone. I said "yes I already know what I need" and he says "ok, but I can't help you right now" he didn't even offer to get someone else to help me or tell me if I could wait a few minutes which I would have. So I left, MAC lost themselves about a $150 sale today. Is it because I wasn't wearing pounds of makeup? Do I look too plain Jane to them? I'm more of a natural girl but I'm loyal to some of their base products, anyhow, your loss MAC, wish I would have known some names... read more

Wow and I mean wow is all I can say. After being a customer for so many years I have never experienced customer service this bad that I feel I must write a negative review. I believe her name was Chris she had the really short light hair. Its beyond words how rude this person was . I mean she was not even trying to hide how disgusted she seemed while ringing up my order . She kept staring at me, raising her eyebrows with a look of pure disgust in her face. It was soooo AWFUL. I don't understand how this place is not out of business. The one item I get here (powder foundation) lasts me a good 8 months and I use it nearly every day. Great products. Good for your face. Make your face look good. Competitive prices for similar quality products. On this visit, there were only two other customers and three associates. One of the associates asked if I needed help. I relayed what I came to buy and said that that would be all. I paid. I left. The whole process took no more than 5 minutes. I love MAC makeup, but I've never had a completely positive experience at this location. For the most part, the sales associates have good taste, but more often than not, they are either preoccupied with talking amongst themselves or unnecessarily irritated by simple questions. For example, today, a male sales associate was really sassy (this is the only appropriate word) with my sister and snapped at her when she opened a drawer to pick up her shade of concealer. What else was she supposed to do when every other employee was too busy to help her? Granted, he had great brows, but even great eyebrows don't make up for being unhelpful. read more

As I was going from table to table looking for the right shade, I noticed that no one came up to me to ask if I needed anything. I don't like it when sales people hover over, but it's nice when they check in on you and see if they can be of any assistance. I went to get my makeup done here after reading the reviews on Yelp. I thought that I just had to buy $50 worth of makeup to have them do my makeup. However, when I got there and mentioned this to one of the sales reps, she said that they didn't do that at that particular store (implying other stores did this..?). I was not going to have time to do my own makeup so I just had them do it anyway. They signed me up and it took them 30 minutes to get to me even though there were a lot of artists available at that time. They just kinda forgot about me even though I was next on the list. When a makeup artist finally attended me, I mentioned the $50 worth of products in exchange for makeup and she said that Mac stores don't do that and only the Mac stores in Nordstrom did that and it was years ago. read more

Great makeup, but the customer service (or lack thereof) makes me wary of giving them my money. If you don't look wealthy, expect to be completely IGNORED even when the store is not busy and there are people just standing behind the counter. After a while I got tired of waiting for someone to help me and simply got the product I needed myself...that's when the girl flew over like a hawk and snapped, "I'll hold that BEHIND THE COUNTER for you." I have been wearing MAC for about 11 years now. I have always received amazing service and amazing product... until I entered this store. I wasn't even greeted when I entered the store, so I shopped a few other stores and came back... THREE TIMES! I was never greeted. Not once. I will never return to this department store. I actually purchased the items I was looking for from a different vendor. I haven't decided if I will switch to the new brand or not. I buy makeup oh...every five years or so, and my five years was up. I went to the MAC counter at Nordstrom ready to drop some cash. It was completely dead so I figured I'd get good service, especially at Nordstrom. I picked out a lipstick and the sales girl rang it up immediately before I had a chance to look at anything else. I was surprised she didn't take time to ask if I needed anything else, she seemed like she was in a hurry. So I had to stop her and ask about eyeliners. I picked out a black one. I'm not a huge MAC fan. Their makeup is a bit heavy for me but I do like their lip gloss and some eye shadows. The makeup artists are usually really nice and helpful. They have always helped me find what I'm looking for or suggest gift ideas if I'm buying for a friend. I have had a love hate relationship with MAC face makeup as it irritates my skin... But I have to say that the store always draws me in with the music, the lights and the hundreds of items I can experiment with before buying a product. I arrived to this MAC store about 30 minutes before closing, and I have to say that staff still continued to be helpful even when I got there so late. Carolina helped me, and I am so glad she did because she showed me the subculture lip liner, a nude based lip liner which ultimately helped my lip stick to stay on my lips. I've reviewed another MAC store on Yelp, so I'm not going to wax too lyrical about this particular branch. They have the usual gargantuan selection of product, and when I dragged my MAC-virgin friend in there to choose some fun new eyeshadow colors, one guy in particular who worked there was incredibly helpful and stuck with us as we looked through the spectrum of shades giving pretty solid advice. My presence was not acknowledged AT ALL. not a hi.. not an excuse me.. not a screw you.. nothing until 652 when in frustration i waited in the checkout lane ..not to check out, but to ask for help since i was being ignored. I was even introducing a friend to MAC and I told the sales girl she was new t;o the line... I find the setup really really nice and I don't feel pressured to buy the products. But I will say 8 out of 10 employees seem to be super nice and very helpful. But I did encounter one female associate who seemed nice but really seemed to not want to help me (maybe she thought I wasn't going to buy anything). I came and said hey can you help me, she responded with a bit of attitude, what do you need help with. I asked her what natural lipstick color she recommended for me and gave me her suggestions and handed them to me but didn't help apply or disinfect like others have. I ended up buying (2 lipsticks and a lipliner) and I still insisted to have one of the lipsticks purchased under her for credit when being brought up because I really appreciated her suggestion, but still her demeanor was off putting. There was also a guy (on a different day) who didn't seem to have much customer service when I asked for his help on a blush. And when I asked for his help he said oh you want to try on the product? I thought you needed a sample. I'm like whoa whats up with that do I look homeless coming in or something? Also just overall getting help from an associate seemed a bit hard to me. I kept telling one associate again on another day (what can I say I decided to purchase several MAC Products as a Christmas Present to myself over $150 worth now ebay and at their store) Which by the way I have encountered fake MAC products on ebay but their foundation on ebay I have found some are real. I told the associate it was fine to go help the other clients because she kept bouncing back and forth with other people when I asked her help with eyeshadow. They don't offer brushes the employees have that and I really would have like there help so I could blend the colors correctly. After three visits to this location even after the first visit, I immediately tried looking for another MAC cosmetics store, but found the reviews at Burbank weren't that great either. Yikes. So I would just suggest to observe who you would like help from by their demeanor when they help other clients because honestly it is a hit or mis with customer service. read more

They are very helpful but take into consideration that all the sales people here have a sales quota. So they will suggest other things that you might want to buy. Before I go here I already have my list from looking at the MAC Website. So don't feel pressured if they ask if you need anything else. It's their job to ask that. Just politely say no. My favorite sales associate here is Sabrina. She is a sweetheart. I'm a professional makeup artist so I go here at least once a month to replenish my kit. They don't bite. hehe! read more

THE BEST MAC STORE EVER, OK so last Friday i had a wedding to attend,and this girl names Karen did my make up and made me look like a dolllll i swear,i just had to purchase $50 worth of mac cosmetics i recommend the studio fix cover up which is the best ive ever used and their lipsticks are amazing,she did my make up smokey eyes,which was gorgeous and applied the false eyelashes which made me the most gorgeous bridesmaid in the wedding all for under $50 which you get to use the make up you actually get your make up done for free when you purchase $50 worth of products,i highly recommend this mac store,the artists are so nice and sweet and not stuck up at all,they come up to you and complement you on your make up! go here for any occasion you wont regret it! read more

Usually I head to one of the department stores to buy my MAC cosmetics to avoid this store which usually is always busy and so that I am able to ask for assistance if I'm looking for something new. I went in to buy some makeup essentials I needed and Raquel was beyond helpful. Usually I don't like ask for assistance beyond what I need at this store but since it was slow i asked. She was more than happy to show me other products and was super courteous and didn't make me feel she was rushing me along. She made my experience a pleasant one. When I have shopped here during its busier times everyone is always professional and I've had consistent positive customer service experience. read more

I actually love this store... I had my makeup done here for my wedding day, and got just what I had asked for if not more... I recieved many compliments that day and made sure that they knew who was responsible for my beautiful makeup and smile that day... This MAC used to have snobby MUAs and luckily they have definitely changed staff. However I still have a sour taste in my mouth from my past experiences here. which is why I've docked off a few stars. Another reason is that I've asked to be color matched two-three times for foundation and I've been incorrectly matched the same color by different MUAS at this location. After second guessing myself multiple times and due to them being the MAC "experts" I accepted the color match with a gut feeling that something wasn't quite right. (thankfully my gut told me not to purchase any foundation until I felt 100%). Long story short, since doing my own research and now a MAC PRO student myself, I have come to realize that I was indeed correct. I am NOT a NW20 but rather an NC25-30. This is why I really recommend consumers, especially of high end makeup,to do their research and when doubtful-- question the MUA's choice. Feel free to ask questions and try on other colors. MAC Foundations are pricey and nothing sucks more than having buyers remorse. PS: BEFORE BUYING LIQUID/CREAM FOUNDATION ask for a sample before you buy!! :) There is one really great MUA that works there and unfortunately I didn't get her name :( but she's helped me out more than once and I got really great service. If I see her next time I shall get her name and recommend her on here. read more
