My teenage daughter made an appt to have her makeup done here before senior portraits today. I was nervous because while she is really good with her own makeup and has her own distinctive style and knows what she wants and just how she likes it, she can be timid in communicating her preferences. Richie did her makeup and my daughter was super happy with it! It was perfect for the occasion and my daughter said he took plenty of time with her and really paid attention to the details. I could tell it would be a positive experience for her when I saw Richie walk out and they smiled at each other. He seemed really sweet. Overall great experience with great value. We even got a free product. And we bought some lip gloss. I am 48 and never wear makeup but I'm thinking of going in and giving it a try now :) read more

Just came back from MAC. The store was empty so that might explain the service. Mind you, two days ago I visited the MAC store at the Brea Mall and the one in South Coast so maybe I was just spoiled but I do not appreciate someone hovering over me. This girl made me uncomfortable and nervous. When I moved to the eye shadow station there she was following me and when I tried on the eye shadow she was looking at me the entire time, even when I poked my eye with the q-tip (most likely because I was uncomfortable). Also at the previous MAC store visits, the sales associates were super generous with the glitter samples/freebies. When I asked hovering girl (and I already had at least 4 items ready to purchase, no freeloading here), she didn't seem too keen on the idea and gave me a PATHETIC scoop. I was just used to the amazing service I had received at the other two malls. I don't think I'll be returning to this MAC store unless they have something that the other stores are sold out of. Bonus star because at least I wasn't ignored. My eye still hurts. :( read more

I had to take my gorgeous girl into the Apple shop at the Glendale Galleria and discovered they had to keep her for 5-7 days before she was ready to go and all fixed....totally unhappy and traumatized, I did a little shopping. Since I have been having some hard days lately, I decided, being with out my princess isn't a good idea. So I packed her up, strapped her on my back and went for a stroll in the mall. Started with my fav lip gloss at Origins...totally yummy. Then found myself at MAC. Yes Mac, blessed Mac. I love this place. I discovered it on a weekend...and dear my, not a good time to come. So busy, hard to get service, and just plain crazy. But today, I came in on a Tuesday after 6 pm and to my surprise I was greeted by Welfrey. Welfrey is a gentle man of many talents. He was welcoming, Patient, knowledgeable, and didn't remark on my brows. My sad bushy brows that I am growing out. (Please don't revert to looking at my photos..thank you.) So overall, I got what I needed, and what I discovered I needed all of the sudden. And me and my little girl are back home and she is enjoying the love of me writing this review on her. Yay! MAC is really cool with their colors and all, but lately when I went for a check-up and just asked a off topic question about my face to he Doc. he replied back saying... "Its the dirtiest make-up, I do not recommend even putting the chapstick on." Wha?!? I was shocked to hear that since I love it! He said since I don't want to ruin my face to start doing Bare Essentials, Esta Lauder and natural stuff that don't clog the face pors... So, I switched to Bare Essentials... Man, I must have went to MAC on a day when Erica didn't. I kinda buy makeup like I buy wine; the more expensive it is, the better I think it is. So if they say that MAC is the best okay - I have nothing to dispute that. For having what I think is a good quality product, and it seems to make even me look a little better, I give it two stars. I'm usually a generous tipper....but I gotta say I thought the service at MAC when I was there sucked. Do they not get paid on commission? I thought that I was imposing on them. I asked for help, and then stood around for a while while some of the employees laughed about something among themselves, perhaps about the thick asian chick who really felt that buying their makeup would make a difference... One time I went by MAC to find them closed, so I strolled over to Nordstrom to buy my MAC. They were really cool there, and treated me like the exotic Asian princess that I believe myself to be in own mind.... to me it's been worth it to go over there, even if it's a little more expensive. read more

Horrible MAC store! I've come here at least 5-6 times because it's the closest Mac and it always seems to amaze me how horrible they are EVERY TIME! I came in today to get my eyeliner and eyelashes done. First... No one offers to help me so I go to the register to ask for my lashes to get done.. While at least 3 artists walk by me without offering to assist me. Customer service is horrible here! The first person who helps me was really nice and friendly. Then I was asked to pay for the lashes which is understandable, but she then tells me she wasn't going to be the one doing them after I explained to her what I came in for(in detail). Another artist takes me to a chair and starts preparing the lashes.. I knew she didn't know what I wanted because she was given no instruction. I tell her what I would like which is just eyeliner and lashes. Pretty simple. :/ of course not. I have to walk her through the steps, primer, then eyeliner.. Etc. Long story short.. I was not satisfied, the eyeliner was not what I asked for and she didn't ask if I liked it, she handed me a mirror and said "have a good night"..but at this point I was over it and left. Customer service needs some work, and the artists are ALWAYS a hit or miss. Im better off making the drive to the MAC in Burbank Mall. read more

Never pushed me to buy, never rushed me even tho it was kinda busy, took his time reintroducing me to the newer products, and showing me how to apply them. So three days ago I had gone to Mac for an appointment to get my makeup done for a special event with my family. Kenny was the available makeup artist at the time I had arrived and at first he was very helpful. I showed him a requested makeup look from my phone and he had no problem doing it. When he was finished with my look I absolutely loved it (the eyeshadow and lip color) except the skin tone he had chosen for me was at least 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone. For as white as my skin is, when he was finished it looked like a tanning salon turned me into an orange. It was a very obvious color transition. I don't think he took the time to find a color that matched my chest/neck and instead chose a color that matched my face (as my face is tanner then the rest of my body). I was not happy with the outcome of my makeup so I asked him if he could perhaps remove it and try again. The second time he was close to my skin tone but not quite, I still had a visible line underneath my jaw line that showed the color of my skin was different from my face to my neck. He tried again but after hours of sitting still and hoping that this makeup experience could still turn out great I then realized the time of my event was going to start in an hour. I still wasn't dressed, my hair was not done and my makeup was still being done! Thankfully, this makeup artist had finished the look and it was perfect. I asked him to set aside the foundation that he used and I would buy it at the counter. No problem. Three is a charm I guess? When I got to the counter he told me he picked out a different shade for my foundation that he believed was the correct shade for my skin (than the one I was wearing) and I took his word and bought the foundation. I thought, what could go wrong? he's a professional from MUA, he knows best. The next day (after my event) as I was getting ready for school I put on the foundation and performed my daily makeup routine. When I went to school I couldn't help but notice people were giving me odd glances and looking at my face. Wondering what was wrong I asked a friend of mine if something was on my face, she had studied me for a second before she told me that it was obvious I was wearing a foundation a shade darker than my actual skin tone. I was so embarrassed and frustrated. I wanted my makeup to look flawless and natural like the women who always post on Instagram with their beautiful makeup looks and eyeshadows. After that I went to the bathroom and washed it off. It looked horrible and I was still stuck with a foundation that gave me a bad tan. I had not realized it because my bathroom lights are not as good as the ones at Mac. Plus I had trusted this professional MUA to pick out a matching foundation for me. Without hesitation I went back to the mall with the product and returned it that very day for a better shade. Thank the lord they allowed me to exchange it even though I had opened it and used a smidge of the foundation. A woman named Vanessa was there when I came back, she was sweet, helpful, matched the foundation to my chest (as you are supposed to) and found me the most similar shade to my actual skin color. I am so happy with the shade I have now, no more orange tan, just my regular skin tone. I see that Kenny has a lot of recommendations from customers here on Yelp. I don't know if he was having an off day or anything similar. But he was not on track at all that day which ended up costing me a lot of money jumping around from one foundation shade to the next. Mac is expensive, so when I had to go through several shades until I got the right one from a different employee it was emptying my wallet. But Overall the people who work there are helpful and super nice, the store is always clean, so are the makeup samples (FYI if your afraid of germs), and even on their busiest days they are on their toes and always at your service! I've always been very hesitant to go to a MAC Cosmetics store because of all the reviews I've heard. But today (7/17/17), I really wanted to get color matched for their Pro Longwear Foundation. Walked in and within a few seconds (maybe about a minute of looking at lipsticks), I was greeted. To me this is already a plus because I usually do not get greeted at beauty stores unless it's really empty. I have a real knack for not looking at name tags, but a man asked me if I needed any help and I asked him if he could color match me to the foundation I wanted. He proceeded to ask if I had a primer and whatnot and he matched me. Now here's another plus, because I haven't really tried anything from MAC, he offered to give me some samples of the primer and foundation! (I've heard so much controversy about asking for samples and was delighted when he offered me some.) I also asked him more questions about application techniques and he was very patient about answering all of my questions! Thank you! Also, I noticed how he treated the customers that walked in. He took care of the customers in chronological order in which who walked in first, and he treated them with respect (which is how it should be). I only spent about 10 minutes in here but the place was well kept, everything seemed to be well stocked and was very clean! Only reason why I gave this four stars out of five was because I noticed how this man who took care of my questions was the only person on the floor taking care of the customers. There was another employee who didn't help him out and by this time (probably around 1:45-2:00), the store started getting more customers. By the time I walked out, the woman employee that I spotted (who went to the back once she saw me step into the store) still didn't come out to help out other customers. The smallest make-up store with everything in it! I admit, I don't use ALL of MAC's products, but their eyeshadows are unbeatable. It's only in MAC STORES (not MAC mall stands) that you can get their palettes. I use them for the eyeshadows and blushes. Customer service is excellent. All the girls are really cheery and have a great sense of humor. I am a regular customer, I go in about twice a month for new eyeshadow or eyeliner. Honestly, girls--for great eye make-up, from primer (paint), eyeshadow, liner, glitter, mascara--MAC is amazing. Bad points:: Maybe it's just me--but using their foundation and powder make me break out. So I just stick to the eye make-up. read more

Wow...my first review. Fitting that its a place I've never been and went somewhat on a whim. K...so we might all know how M.A.C will come out with limited edition products and if you lag (like I did) you miss out. Period. Not available on the website. So, I was on a desperate search for Lavendar Whip lipstick, from the somewhat recently launched Cream Team Collection. Gone everywhere!!! So, when I call the Pro Store (Not in Nordstrom, 2nd floor across from Apple) a very friendly sales associate helped me and to my glee said they had it. I busted it down there. I went down with the intention of buying somethings from the Sugar Sweet Collection, perhaps the Grand Duo and definitely from the Cream Team collection. I had everything I could possibly ever need from the Hello Kitty collection. I was asked if I needed help approximately 3 or 4 times while I was there. Which I truly appreciate. Because, I really get bothered when they don't. When I made my decisions I was lastly approached by a lovely associate named Kristina Swesey. I'm not a stalker or anything, but at the end of my purchase I did ask for her business card because she was just so amazing! We discussed some of my purchases, and she answered my questions. Showed me some great alternatives or suggestions of what I might prefer based on what I was telling her my problem areas were. Oily Skin, Acne scars, etc... Amazing is all I can say. I've worked in customer service...my whole life and I always try to go above and beyond because of the exact same reason I felt that day. You feel good about your purchases, you get what you really want (without buyers remorse). I'm looking for different M.A.C's and will try out the West Hollywood Pro store as well. But, I think in my heart of hearts I'll be making some regular trips to this M.A.C store because of not only Kristina whose beautiful by the way, but the whole staff. The service I received here was exceptional. Sabrina was the girl who helped me. I was really impressed by how knowledgeable she was and how much great advice she gave me. This girl literally spent almost an hour putting colors together for my 15shadow pallet. We weighed the pros and cons of each color and set up a beautiful pallet for me to use on clients (i do makeup now, oh yeah). She also helped me pick out some brushes. She wasn't pushy AT ALL. In fact, I loved how considerate she was of my budget. When I told her that I didn't want to spend too much quite yet, she helped me pick brushes that could handle more than 1 task so I wouldn't have to buy too many quite yet. Same with shadows. Anyway, this is my third time at this store this year and I've received really good service each time. Their selection isn't quite as large as, say, a MAC pro location but it's still a great selection. The only drag is parking at the stupid galleria. read more

I couldn't wait for today! The debut of the Star Trek 50th anniversary line of makeup is available!!!! I walk up to the display which is right up front in a corner... First things first, it was a discussing mess! The tubes of eyeliner all were leaky and all over place, not to mention they hadn't bothered to cut the applicators so it was a free for all in intruding bacteria and what not directly into the sample product, the display was missing all the brushes and a few other things and one of the eyeshadow cases had been broken! This was the first day! You really don't have to care about Star Trek but you really should care about your products and the way they are displayed. So after testing every single item available on the back of my hand I had still not even been greeted! One customer was being actively helped while three other employees stood around the counter with clearly better things to do than help me. So I left. I went over to the Americana where not only did I buy almost one of each of the Star Trek items but some other things as well! Thank goodness they are so close and able to pick up the slack from the mall store! I'll go out of my way to make all future purchases from the Americana store. I LOVE Mac Cosmetic, however I try to buy their products on the website because I hate being hassled by sales people. Maybe they think I'm a shoplifter or maybe they try to annoy everyone? All the people that work there are very nice, but they don't leave you alone. Sales person #1 will come to help me. I turn them away nicely. Sales person #2 comes up to me. I say I'm doing fine. Then sales person #3 and #4 came to see if I am ready to check out. I tell the I am still looking. Sales person #1 comes back to me and pushes me to check out. I politely tell them to get lost. Sales #3 comes back to check me out(when I am clearly still looking.) And there is more of that, but I wont wast you time. OMG This is within about a 6 minute span. Must be commission sales...? I'll continue to shop on maccosmetics.com so I don't feel horribly rushed to pay. They were nice there, but hyper as hell! PS- It was years ago but... I love this MAC store! I used to actually come here all the time when I used to live in Glendale. Its located conveniently inside the Galleria, so its very easy to stop by when you are out shopping. They are always well stocked, and when a new collection comes out they always have plenty available... but even if they don't their staff will still go out of their way to make sure you get the stuff you wanted to buy... One time I was looking for a certain MAC brush that they were out of stock on and one of the MUAs promptly offered to call the nearby MAC counter at Nordstroms to see if they have it! If you go on the weekend, look for Karisa... she's a super nice MUA there who was always accomodating and helpful... even when I tended to ask newbie questions. read more

I like the new set up but what I don't like is the customer service. In the other location (right across) the workers seemed more friendly and shouted HEY or HELLOO or WELCOME in their cutest voice but now? You'll be lucky if they even take a moment to look at your face. I don't understand what is going on with them. I am taking 1 star off for the whole crew in general. The guy who helped me on my last visit was very friendly and walked up to me when no one else did - even when I asked the counter if someone could help me. I can't remember his name but he had blonde hair (if that helps) I told him what products I needed and I asked for a few suggestions as far as bronzer and blush. He had no problem explaining the difference and the shades that would look most natural on my skin tone. He didn't try to sell me anything extra and I honestly thought that was very nice of him. I really love MAC products, but the staff-not so much. I was ignored when I was browsing around, even though I looked confused as to where the product was that i was looking for. Since the staff didn't approach me, I asked one girl to help me out, and she looked at me like I was 'interrupting' her from chatting with her coworker. After she helped me locate the lipstick and concealer I was looking for, I asked her if I can get color matched. After rolling her eyes, she proceeded to pick out two shades and then used both to conceal some zits i had. I wasn't sure which shade matched me, so I asked for a sample of both. She put a drop into each container, not even enough to conceal a small zit. It's like why are they so against giving out samples? I am a frequent customer of the brand and want to try something out before spending big bucks on an item. This seems to happen at most MAC stores, which is the reason why I switched to Sephora brands, because their customer service is excellent and don't hesitate to let you try on whatever you'd like before you purchase. I did end up purchasing the lipstick, because I loved the color, but I won't be going back to MAC for a while. read more

I've been a faithful, religious customer of MAC products for years. I usually prefer to go the store in the Glendale Galleria since I love that mall and the guys are always so warming and inviting with good vibes, however my last experience was not a pleasant one. An employee by the name of Marisa assisted me that day. Not only did she go against my request of specific shades, but she exhibited poor oral hygiene. Her breath smelled like ammonia somewhat with a fishy stench borderline of urine feces. I tried my best not to breathe through my nose while she was near my face so I used my mouth to breathe in and out. I was able to tolerate the odor but her behavior was rude and unprofessional and that's what resulted in me writing this unpleasant review. I definitely think management needs to address the importance of oral hygiene in this particular profession. I am no longer going to purchase from the MAC store in the Glendale Galleria and they lost me as a valuable customer. I can assure you my family and friends will avoid that store too! read more

On May 15, 2017, I went to this MAC store location. I made my make up appointment for 10 a.m. and to have it done before my photo shoot. I was on time and even showed up at least 10 minutes early. The employees were very slow with unlocking the store as I did not get to walk in right at 10 a.m. When I walked in, I told the girl at the counter that I had a make up appointment for 10 a.m. She went in the back to check the schedule. She came back out and said, "Are you sure that you have an appointment with us? We have 4 different locations here." She then proceeded to tell me, "We would never schedule a 10 a.m. appointment because there needs to be at least X amount of people on the floor." Then she showed me a copy of her schedule stating that they had been booked for a while and they don't have anyone listed for 10 a.m. WTF! So I looked on my recent call list and showed her the number that I dialed. I asked if this was the correct store. She said, yes. It seemed as if she had an attitude. At this point, I'm asking myself is it worth getting my make up done here? Are they going to do crappy job? Never received an apology. At this point, time is wasted and it was past 10 am. Make up was "okay" and very basic, make up artist did my make up at a slow pace. Make up artist asked me what type of look was I going for and I wanted high glam, full glam. She barely put on any foundation on my face. I thought it would have been easier to have my make up done at the MAC store before my photo shoot. I had never purchased any MAC products before my last visit on a busy Saturday afternoon. I explained to Richie, who was helping me, that i had never been to a MAC store because i was intimidated. The people who work here are: A) Complete and total jerks. I didn't know such a small store could hold such copious amounts of condescension. B) Lacking in skill-set. I asked them to help me find a good, everyday lipstick that would compliment my skin tone (I'm not gifted in looking at a color in the tube and inferring how it will look on my face), and the man "helping" me could not identify the undertones in my skin nor in the lip colors, which, to me, seems like one of the most BASIC necessities of a make-up counter worker. When I told him that neither of the colors he'd chosen were anywhere close to my request , he rolled his eyes, threw up his arms, and told me "well, then, you're on your own."
