Great food! Lupe Tortillas is one of our family favorites for TexMex and big tequila drinks. The Steak Lupe is the favorite. Sometimes all four order it. A marinated flank steak with tasty toppings and fresh tortillas. The meal is large enough to just eat have so you have the chance to eat it again for breakfast or lunch the next day. I also like the fajita beef tacos and usually have no leftovers when ordering that. Drinks here are awesome. Generous served and well made. The Katy, TX Lupe's is not the best of the chain. First of all the seating area is small so after 6 pm there is a the table wait starts to climb from 20 min and after 7 pm it can be longer than an hour. It is also poorly designed for sound so it's VERY LOUD. My son and I see playing with a sound app and recorded noise levels well above 90 dBA. I can't imagine how the staff can work in that for long periods. Still, Lupe's is really fun and the food is great so we are willing to pay the extra price, put up with the wait and noise to have a good family dinner. This is a great place to come for birthdays. The staff loves to put a big ole sombrero on your head and sing around you and in general make a nuisance of themselves. Fun! Lupe's has made their restaurants have character and playful. They offer a play zone for kids and plenty of odd and unusual features to amuse adults. All in all, you should come here, drink tequila and have a good time. read more

Good Tex-Mex food, but not as good as the highway 6 Lupe Tortilla location. Lupe's has good beef fajitas, extra large tortillas, chips and charro beans, small rooms in a Mexican-themed house, and a large sandbox outside for the kids. This location gets busy, so it's a good idea to arrive at an off-time. The food has been good every time we've eaten here, but not good enough to bring us back on a regular basis. IMHO, nearby Los Cucos, La Finca, and Ruthie's offer better food. My wife enjoys the beef fajitas at Lupe Tortilla, but they don't taste quite the same as the fajitas at the Highway 6 LT location. On my last visit, I had the cilantro jalapeño chicken. The chicken could have used a bit more marinade, but was very spicy and tasty nonetheless. I also enjoyed the thick corn tortillas served on the side and a tasty queso appetizer. LT has a tequila-marinated chicken dish I want to try next time. For local Tex-Mex restaurants, LT has the best atmosphere. Tables in the restaurant are arranged in small rooms that make you feel like you are eating in someone's house. On our last visit, we sat in a room that looked like a small, Mexican country kitchen. Younger kids love playing in the sandbox outside at LT. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come to our table. We ordered fajitas with corn tortillas. When it came out we noticed there were no corn tortillas so we let our waiter know. It took him about 15 minutes plus a reminder that we never received the order. The meat got cold. My husband was upset so he didn't even touch the food. I asked the waiter if they can redo the fajitas which then he replied I'm not sure I can do that.. are you kidding?! It wasn't our fault that the food got cold. Yup.. so marking this location as a no go! I can say my toddler enjoyed his flautas but he also enjoyed it at the other locations as well. read more

I rarely come here because of the prices. The food is good but too expensive. Luckily I've experienced decent service. Nothing above and beyond but nothing bad. Their tortillas are delicious! Their fajitas are good but I have definitely had better. I've had better tortillas as well but it's hard to find in this area. I ordered the shrimp tacos and enjoyed them. They're very good. The half order of fajitas seemed smaller than usual. The ambience is not fancy, it's very casual. I went May 30th for lunch and they were practicing social distancing. Tables were distant and waiters were wearing masks. I felt comfortable dining in. We both had water. With the fajitas and two tacos it was $54. What a treat. This was a recommendation from a friend of mine living around the area. The inside feels very authentic, and reminds me of a Chuy's. I used to like Lupe's, but their quality has really fallen off since the pandemic. We ordered queso as an appetizer, and what we got was little more than orange water. When a man who identified himself as the manager asked how our food was, we told him about the queso. He said he'd check on it, but we never saw him again. A good manager would have apologized and deleted the queso from our bill. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer, but what I got tasted like watered down lemonade. OK, it pains me to have to post this, but what has happened to my favorite place for fajitas. I know times have been tough for the restaurant industry due to Covid, but this is way above and beyond. First, the food ... the price they now charge for Fajitas are insane. Almost $50 for beef fajitas for two. Insane. The margaritas were so watered down we were not sure there was any tequila in them. They charged $1.50 for a TINY serving of sliced jalapeños. And it just didn't taste as good as it has in the past. Regarding the service ... AWFUL. The service at this place used to be wonderful ... now it is abysmal. Unfortunately, we will definitely NOT be going back. They are facing stiff competition from other Mexican restaurants near them, and if they keep this up I fear they might not survive. Slow...slow...slow service for below average food. We waited almost 45 minutes to get a table. 30 minutes for the waiter to take our order. 50 minutes for food to come out. Stayed mostly with an empty beverage glass. Food is below average for being Tex Mex. Rice was undercooked so eating crunchy rice wasn't enjoyable. Beans had good flavor but that's about it. I have been going to Lupe's for a long time with my family on Saturdays. For ever, the service, the food and the ambiance was like a family to us. We supported them through the COVID hard times and always treated everyone there like a friend. However, today we were shown that loyalty is not something they value. They had our table ready and got the buzz. However, my daughter was missing and they told us they could not sit our table. I asked to talk to the manager, who always has been a friend to us. We absolutely LOVE Lupe Tortilla! My dad was in town and we stopped by this location. My husband got the fajitas...one he says these are some of the best he's ever had. I always get the green enchiladas but decided to switch things up a bit and got the quesadillas....delicious!! I'm in love. I got the ones with the beef fajita meat in them and the meat was seasoned perfectly. We really really enjoyed our food. The layout is kinda funky - so make sure to walk around and check on tables in the bar and outside. There are a ton of tables even though it might not look like it. We came in to eat at Lupes today, one of our favorite places. We have been coming here for over 7 years. Our family of 6 adults and 2 kids. We were turned around today when I came to ask for a table for the family. They claim they cannot sit big parties in the same table and that they would have to split us into complete different tables and that if we cannot do that, then we could go eat somewhere else. They weren't extremely rude, but it was rude nonetheless. It's a bummer that the restaurant has changed for the worse. I understand that things are weird now a days, but to be this rude to people that used to love this place is horrible. OOF. This is an obligatory "if I could give 0 stars I would" review. I eat out a lot. I eat at tex-mex places a lot. I do not think I have ever had Tex mex food so tasteless and so expensive ANYWHERE else. First of all, their prices? A SCAM. I attached a picture of my friends fajita order, that ended up being TWENTY TWO dollars for a plate with literally FIVE bland pieces of meat. On the other hand I order a tortilla soup, which the menu stated came in a "large" bowl. The "bowl" was a glorified coffee cup and my check ended up coming out to $10 for a COFFEE CUP amount of soup. During the whole meal my friend and I kept hoping our portions were lunch sized or something because that would be the only explanation for the measly amounts we got but when we got our checks we were completely baffled. These portions in comparison to the prices are completely ridiculous, specially when comparing them to the portions of basically every other Mexican place in town. Additionally, our server paid little to no attention to us. When ordering my soup I specified multiple times I wanted to tomatoes in it, and when I received it guess what was in the soup? Giant chunks of tomato!! I try to not complain about trivial things like that but when it all adds up it's impossible not to mention. I tried looking for the manager multiple times and he was nowhere to be seen. He stopped at my table once prior to us getting our food, so there was no way for me to express all of this to him in person otherwise I would've done so. Unhappy is an understatement. First bad experience with Lupe and it was a doozy. Went at about 6 for dinner with my family of 6. Not extended or anything, just my wife and kids. Checked in and they asked if we were willing to sit at separate tables. Ummm no. Was told the wait would be about 40 minutes. We said ok and posted up outside to wait. Got our message that our table was ready about 80 minutes later. We were all ready to get some good food and drink! Went up to the desk and they again asked us if we would sit at separate tables. Who does this? Who sits at separate tables than there school aged children? So we said no once again. The hostess immediately gave us attitude. We asked how the long the wait would be again. 40 more minutes. Not very happy, we went back to sit and wait outside again. Waited another 40 minutes. Normally I wouldn't ever wait this long but felt that we would get seated at any minute as we've never had to wait more than 30 minutes there even when they were much more busy. I like Lupe. Not my favorite restaurant but it has big advantages. Seating is in a house like setting. So it isn't too loud to have conversation, which is always nice, of course. These margaritas are really, really the best. One is usually enough for me. My old "meh" is the salsa. I don't care for it here. Also, they don't sets large parties so keep that in mind. Wow. First bad experience and it was a doozy!!! I was kindly informing the manager about the burnt fajitas and not just burnt, but so dry I couldn't eat them. My wife has the recipe at home for the marinade and I grill them myself so I know HOW they should be when coming off the grill. Again, I wasn't looking for a free meal, I specially told the waiter I had to leave in a few minutes (because the fajitas took 30 minutes to cook., so I was just "informing the manager why maybe it took so long for us to get our food...they were left grilling to a burnt crisp. Here's where things WENT WRONG. Manager told me and I quote "well you should have told us when you realized they were Burnt and we could have made you a fresh one." I told him I don't have time for that and I would have told the waiter had he been around or asked me when the food came how was the food. But by the time he got there we had to eat and go! I repeatedly told the manager I wasn't looking for a free meal, just to inform him so he could make sure his cooks pay better attn to what used the be the best fajitas in town. This place is not run like the parents original place and judging from fact place was empty on a weekend during lunchtime (used to be a one hour wait) I can see why. Literally the worst service always. On three separate occasions my drink and my wife's drink were left completely empty for over 15 minutes while server after server went by. Our server was asked repeatedly for refills and we still never got them. On one occasion we were sat and weren't acknowledged for at least 10 minutes. During this occasion we saw another patron wait just as long and got fed up and left. Also we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for chips and salsa while all the tables around us were taken care of. It almost made me think our server was being racist as I'm black and the other patron that walked out was black, but it seems the server is just incompetent. My wife has a gluten allergy and the server never cares to check if her food is prepared properly. If the food is contaminated we're left waiting over 10 minutes for the server to finally return and check on us. Management doesn't seem to care as we've had the same awful server on multiple occasions and he's not done any better. read more

I will never understand how anyone can give this amazing restaurant less than four stars. I guess some people just can wait for good food. The food here is prepared fresh and you can taste it! The salsa is fresh with just enough heat for anyone to enjoy. The homemade tortillas are so good you can eat them with by themselves. The margaritas are zesty and strong. Lupe's is a center of Tex-Mex excellence among a sea of imitators. I recommend the Taco Meat Queso and the Chicken Lupe. You so can't go wrong with any fajita choice. Typically this location is pretty good. Tonight, however, was AWFUL. One server took our drink order, then another showed up to take our drink order again. That was the first red flag... we ordered and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally got chips and salsa. Didn't have drinks yet, so we sat there looking at the chips and salsa. Drinks finally came, along with the queso and quacamole we had ordered. Our drinks sat empty as did the basket of chips for 10 minutes - long enough for the queso to form a film and get cold as I watched it, wishing to eat it but... nothing available to scoop it out or drink. Food took longer than expected, considering it was just rice, beans, flour tortillas and a quesadilla (seems like the simplest things on the menu, really). Food tasted good (thankfully!!!!) and we finished eating (I was out of water again and never did get a refill - it wasn't offered and I didn't see the server to ask for more). I had my card out, ready to pay, for TWENTY MINUTES and didn't ever see the server. I finally put cash on the table to cover the bill and I got up to leave. I stopped in at the hostess station to let them know of the situation. The hostess herself said that she had seen us sitting there, me with my card in hand ready to pay. The manager, instead of any apology or what-not, went to find the server. So here we are WAITING SOME MORE. What?????? The server brought the check up; it was actually over billed, but I most certainly wasn't going to wait longer for the manager to come back. Funny how he went to get the server then DISAPPEARED himself! I have never been so poorly treated at a restaurant and this is likely to keep me away from the Lupe location. I'll go to Hwy 6. Get it together, people. It wasn't even "busy" (i.e. there was not wait to be seated...... just a 40 minute altogether wait without drinks, food, or a bill. read more
