Torchy's Queso is truly a divine gift to humanity, something not made of this earth, a magical elixir, pure liquid gold, a fountain of youth. There has not been a queso I have ever had that compares and I fear will not ever be one to surpass it. It is so rich, smooth, the scoop of guac adds layers, the green chiles make me want to dance, and the extra spice of diablo sauce truly make this a supernatural creation. Since moving out of Texas it is the one menu item I think about at least once a day and live for to return to and have again. My 2026 new years resolution is to convince Torchy's Corporate to open a location in NYC. Thank you for this creation. Now that Ive expressed feelings about the queso, lets talk about the tacos. So many to choose from including a secret menu which is so fun. My fav which I always have to get is the Trailer Park. Probably the furthest thing from an authentic taco but hey it's genius and it's delicious so just silence and eat it. So we went this evening, on a Wednesday night, to sit at the bar to have some drinks, dinner, and relax. BUT there was a kid SITTING AT the bar with their father. I understand we are in the burbs. But sometimes we want to go to a bar and relax without our kids. This kid was LOUD, HYPER, and an obnoxious child and we left. If you have your kid for the evening for dinner please don't ruin date night for couples. I understand we are in Katy. But there are not many casual places to go to hang with your hubby with no kids. A different vibe of the traditional Tex-Mex soft tacos are served at this taco shack. Our party of three ordered various proteins in our tacos. All were served in soft flour tortillas. We had barbacoa, smoked brisket, pulled pork, beef fajitas, and fried avocado. There were generous amount of proteins and cheese in each taco. With the exception of the beef fajata, all were nicely seasoned and cooked. The beef fajata was just a touch under seasoned, but cooked well. The flour tortilla itself tasted just ok. It didn't feel, look, or tasted like it was freshly made on site. We also ordered refried beans for our side. The beans were smooth and tasty. Prices were higher than the traditional taco shacks and tanqurias, but the quality and quantity justified the higher costs. Counter service was friendly and foods came out quick. read more

I don't dine here too often, so do when I do come, it's because I have a particular craving. I usually have a pretty positive experience, but this time was a little bit rough. I stopped by on a weekend afternoon. The restaurant wasn't too busy at that time. Parking was easy, usually it's pretty crazy in this area but I found a spot as soon as I pulled in. I didn't really encounter any extra friendly staff members, but the person that took my order was nice. Can't say that I won't be back, maybe I just will try another location as I've typically had a good experience with this restaurant. Democrat (3/5) - I ordered this with no avocado, but they put avocado on there anyway. It also had a hair in it. Trailer park - trashy (3/5) - it was fine. Nothing spectacular, but it did the job. Scallywag (4/5) - This taco of the month was a pleasant surprise. I really enjoyed the flavor of the coconut shrimp. My only note would be is that they put a lot of pickled onions on it. Easy fix though I just took most of them off. Churros (1/5) - the biggest disappointment. I don't expect food to look just like the photos, but these were like the light skin version of the picture online. They were chewy in the middle, most of them split apart, and most of the cinnamon sugar was at the bottom of the bag. After a couple bites, I them away. I had the fried avocado taco which I found to be super yummy- my only complaint is that on the menu it said it came with corn tortilla but it came out on flour- I still ate it and still liked it but I prefer corn. I did a to-go order so I can't really say much of the service. The food I will say can use some improvement. I ordered a beef fajita burrito which includes rice, beans, fajita, pico, guac, sour cream, and some mixed cheese. This is usually my go to order from torchy's so I know what to expect, but at this location I had straight up a bean and guac burrito. When I started eating the food the burrito tortilla was soggy and there was just lil to no fajita. I also order the hill billy cheese with chips. They added more chorizo oil into the cheese than chorizo itself. I think this restaurant can improve in how they prep their food so other customers can enjoy it! Last couple of visits have been terrible. Things have really gone downhill at this location. Incorrect orders, waiting forever for the correct items and things showing up after you have almost finished your meal with attitude that sucks! The kicker this time was - my missing items. These guys just can't get it together. Wife and I walked in recently and the bar had plenty of seating available but every space was filthy. Wife stood and waited by the barstool where we wanted to sit and I made a quick visit to the restroom. When I came out my wife was still standing there waiting and the bartender who had been standing behind the bar texting the entire time was still completely unaware of her presence. They don't want the business, so we're done. Regarding the "business owner" response.... Let's be honest. You've been running this shit show the same way for over 10 years.
