How bogus and rigged is this site?My review is on to this filtered list.But the waitress I was served by here (Kimberlee W) gets to leave this dump a 5 star review and does not get filtered?And most bad reviews for this joint get filtered?Yelp must get free food or payoffs from lulus! I wouldnt bother but the dude that runs this place got me angry enough to where I gotta make an exepshion.Im a burger guy.There aint nothing like a great burger. Last week me and my bud were on out driving and I was starving and he had been here once and said they used to make good burgers but he hadnt been here in a couple years.We went in and the guy I thought was the manager (more on him to come) seated us down.Real nice guy.Sorry I dont remember his name but he was a big dude dressed all in biege who did not have a name tag on.I think he said his name was something like Mick but let's call him big biege dude.The waitress was a girl Kimberlee.She was real nice as well.We ordered and thats where the problems started.My bud ordered some wqings and I ordered a burger of course and I ordered it the way I always do which is medium.It took a while which was wierd because there were only 1 other cupple in the place.When it got there my burger was rare.Like really rare.and the bread on the bottom was soggy from the juice it was so rare.Kimberlee took the burger back to the kitchen and a few minutes later it comes back.Now it's not a new burger but the same burger thrown onto the same soggy bread as before!This time I get medium rare!Dude!How hard is it to cook a burger?So thinking he's the manager I call over the big biege dude and ask him if hes the manager and he apologised that hes as far from a manager as it gets around there but would I like him to get the manager for me?He get's me the manager.Now THIS guy is where it went from bad to worst.The dudes name is Carlos and I tell him that first of all I wanted medium and got rare and the bread was all soggy and stuff.Then I sent it back and got the same burger on the same soggy bread medium rare and all I want is a medium cooked burger on some decent kind of bread!The dude looks at my burger and starts arguing with me that this is medium and around here maybe I should order medium well if I don't want it that pink. I mean seriously dude?I have to learn your places rules before ordering and you are gonna argue with a customer and tell me I dont know what medium is? I've been ordering medium since I was a kid dude!So this guy takes my plate back to the kitchen and hes telling the cooks about the burger and me and they are chukkling and looking at me and hey guess what?I speak and understand spanish real well.I also have great hearing.So when you are talking **** about me back and forth with your cooks I can hear what your saying and understand you.Thew big biege dude came by and asked if everything was alright and I asked him to sit down for a bit and told him what was happening.He aplologised and told me that this Carlos dude is a good guy and that this place really does try to serve great food and how they have been making a lot of changes lately.Really built the place up, you know what I mean.I asked him why they would keep sending me the same burger of the same wet bread over and over again and mainly why any manager would argue with a customer about whose right?I could understand if the joint was hopping that ther qauality might be off on an order or two but it was a ghosttown in there and all I had ordered was a simple burger cooked medium style but that what was really bringing me down now was how this manager dude and the cooks are making fun of me and talking **** about the thing.Like this Carlos dude is not taking the problem seriously at all.He apologised again and said he was just a driver there and he went and came back with a take out menu and said to please try us again and give us another chance to make it right and that the coupons on the menu were good any time including now and showed us the 5 dollar off one and told us he hoped that might make up a little bit for how I felt about the food and service and make us give them another shot.Carlos brings the burger back without a word and puts it in front of me and walks away.No Is this cooked the way you want it no waiting for me to take a bit and see if it was ok no nothing.This time it was cooked right but it was obvious they had just grilled the hell out of the SAME WET BREAD with the same toppings that were wilty and soggy as hell now.I gave up. The biege dude came by again and ask if everything was alright now and he really did seem to care.I told him yeah but I just ate the meat and we paid and left. No thanks and come back again or hope you enjoyed your meal.Just that Carlos dude taking our money and a smirky have a nice day.I'd give this place zero stars if I could but thatd be unfair to the dude who at least acted like he cared and tried to do right by me and my bud.So the stars for you biege dude. read more

This review is based on having food delivered from here and eating here a few times over the past weekend while I was up this way from San Diego visiting my folks. On Friday after picking me up at the Amtrack station we drove by this place and they mentioned how they had always wanted to go there. I was feeling fluey and exhausted from the trip so my folks went there on their own. They came back raving about having had the best ice cream sundaes they had ever had in their entire lives and as they were leaving the guy who made them their sundaes was leaving to go home as well. They thanked him for the great sundaes he got them a to-go menu from his car with some coupons on it and after finding out where they lived told them that they also delivered to that area and that he was one of the drivers there. So based on their raving it sounded to me like they had a 5 star experience. The next 2 nights, as I still was not feeling well, my parents decided to try the delivery service here. This is where things varied wildly. Saturday night I ordered a turkey dinner - gravy on the side, steamed vegetables instead of stuffing and a coke. My dad ordered a beef dip with fries and mom ordered a french onion soup and chicken nachos. We were thinking the guy from the night before would be showing up but a woman eventually showed up. It took a while for the food to get there (well over "30 to 40 minutes" we were told on the phone. My folks are not even 2 miles from Lulus). My dad answered the door and the whole thing seemed very rushed. It felt like "Here's your food, you owe me such and such, bye" as if she could not wait to get out of there. If there was a thank you for the $5.00 tip none of us heard it. Then there was the food itself: The nachos were completely crushed as if the top had been forced down on them and there was no salsa at all. The french onion soup had a very miserly portion of cheese on it and barely any onions in it. The coke, the soup and the juice for the beef dip were all wrapped up but very poorly, so that everything was leaking inside the plastic wrap and a real mess to unwrap. The fries were stone cold and according to my dad the beef dip smelled like the meat was starting to go bad and well past it's sell by date and he threw it away. My turkey dinner had gravy coming out of the box - not the gracy was not on the side as I had requested. It had dripped over the other food containers in the bag. The steamed vegetables I wanted were not steamed but these rather ghastly greasy grilled slices of carrot and zucchini. Worst of all it almost appeared as if somebody had shaken the container with the food in it. It was a complete mess. And no cranberry sauce :-(. The entire order was cold and had to be reheated in the microwave. We all felt let down by both the food and the indifferent attitude of the delivery person. 1 star. My folks were determined to give the place another shot so Sunday night we all ordered the same thing except this time my dad ordered the ribs with fries. This time our food arrived in about 30 minutes and the guy who delivered was the same guy who had made their sundaes 2 nights previously. The difference between everything from one night to the next was night and day. This guy was extremely kind and charming and appeared genuinely grateful for the $5.00 tip my dad gave him and was just as polite as can be. The order was beautifully packed: each item was individually wrapped, my vegetables steamed and not grilled and greasy, the gravy on the side, the french onion soup full of onions and with lots of cheese and croutons. None of the containers with the liquids in them (the coke, the soup, the gravy) were leaking. My turkey dinner looked great, my dad's ribs were perfection as he called them (and the fries were warm and crisp) and this time the nachos were packed with care with another foil container carefully put over them and wrapped, not some plastic top crushed onto them. This time there were 2 salsas and cranberry sauce and even rolls and butter (all of which were missing the previous evening). And another menu this time with more coupons to replace the one's we had used the previous evening. The best way I can put it is that the Saturday night meal felt like very mediocre food packed by somebody who didn't care and delivered by somebody who was just doing their job and nothing more. The Sunday night dinner, on the other hand, was packed beautifully with obvious, meticulous care and you could just tell by this delivery person's demeanor when he said "I hope everything is great and thank you for choosing Lulu's" that he really meant it and really hoped we would be pleased with everything and was not just saying words he has probably said a thousand times before - you felt he meant those words. On this night we were thrilled with every aspect of the experience. This was another 5 star experience. read more

I do not know why on earth my review of this place was filtered but let's try this again: On Friday 2-22-13 My fiance and I tried this place out for dinner. It was a very spur of the moment decision: we are unfamiliar with this part of the valley but were famished and on our way up Roscoe to the 405 when we saw this place and it looked charming from the outside so we just pulled in and decided to give this place a try. Parking was easy (their parking lot is huge) and we were seated right away. The waitress came over immediately to take our drink orders and we asked if they had any bread or anything at all that she could bring us for starters as we were staring and less than a minute later she brought out a loaf of wonderful fresh and hot sourdough with butter that took the edge off of our appetite and allowed up to take time looking at their menu (after we devoured the entire basket in seconds lol). I decided on the rack of ribs and my fiance decided on the veggie breakfast burrito. Both were absolutely great. I have not had ribs this good in years and according to my fiance the burrito was a delight and well above average. Our waitress was excellent as well. But there was one huge problem that kept this evening from being a perfect experience, and this is why I am rating this place with three stars instead of this being a five star review: Throughout the meal 2 of the employees at the counter were doing imitations of severely physically disabled people whenever this one particular girl would walk past them and say "you are not sexy" to her and laugh. This went on and on while we were there between about 6 and 7pm. It might have been some kind of in-joke, but for my fiance it was upsetting to the point where we had to skip dessert and coffee and leave (while she herself has no disabilities she comes from a family of severely physically disabled people). We asked the waitress during the meal who the 2 men at the counter were and she told us they were the owner and the manager. We paid our bill and left without making a scene or saying anything about the situation. In retrospect we probably should have said something as it upset my fiance enough to where she started crying unbcontrollably about the whole incident in the car on the way home. What is so sad is that this place has really great food, a big and varied menu, it's cozy and quiet inside, the parking is great and the waitstaff is excellent as well. This really did start out as a perfect night out and wound up a disaster. Were it not for the incredibly insensitive behavior of the two people running this place this is a restaurant I would recommend without hesitation and would have gladly have come back to myself. Sadly due to the spectacle we had to watch (the people at the table next to us saw and heard the whole thing as well as those two guys were being very loud whenever they broke into their handicapped routine) as my fiance said: "I do not ever want to set foot in that place again". read more

Today marks the conclusion of my patronage at Lulu's Restaurant, as my recent experience has left me with no desire to return. My initial encounter with Lulu's occurred several months ago when I ordered for myself and my nephews. Unfortunately, none of us found satisfaction in our meals. The loco moco, in particular, lacked authenticity and flavor, reminiscent of a subpar frozen dinner. Even my discerning nephew, typically enthusiastic about food, was dissatisfied after just a few bites--an experience I shared upon sampling the dish. Similarly, an oversight in our order request resulted in a sandwich or burger served with unwanted "cheese", which appeared to be Kraft singles, which legally cannot have cheese written on the packaging ...because it's not real cheese.. Despite this initial disappointment, I chose to give Lulu's another chance today, influenced by some positive reviews. However, the chilaquiles and wings we ordered failed to meet expectations. The chilaquiles lacked flavor, presentation, and were notably deficient in egg content. Furthermore, the wings appeared aged and dry, confirming suspicions upon the first bite. While the wing sauce provided a fleeting moment of enjoyment, it could not compensate for the overall lackluster quality of the meal. While hesitant to leave negative feedback, I believe honest reviews are essential for informed decision-making. Despite Lulu's apparent positive reputation, our experience has been consistently disappointing across multiple visits. While commendable packaging and a flavorful wing sauce are noted, they do little to salvage the overall dining experience, marred by stale chicken and lackluster execution. While Lulu's may have garnered four stars for some, my personal encounters have been consistently disappointing. I hope this critique serves as constructive feedback for improvement, as I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others based on my experiences. read more

Lulu's is wondeful. I've been eating here as long as I can remember and it is one of the few places that has stayed consistent in quality and service for as long as its been around. The salads are gigantic and fresh (I get the BBQ chicken salad but I hear great tings about the Carne Asada Salad) and they have an entire page of sandwiches in the menu. I've yet to try something at Lulu's I haven't liked. For appetizers I would recommend the sampler platter so you can try a bit of everything, for Dessert, the what-a-cake is delicious. The service is always friendly and I really cant say enough good stuff about Lulu's. Put it this way, I live in west hollywood and try to make the trip over to Van Nuys as often as possible, not to mention I decided to write my first yelp review about it. My order was put in at 2p.m in the afternoon. Showed up on time. Wrong food. Cold fried chicken. Salad was loosely packed and covered with saran wrap. It honestly looked as if somebody had opened and pick at the chicken in the salad.. Manager Aaron was very unprofessional. My total was $48.00 payed in cash. After 4 hours 6 calls too grub hub they had to get the Owner Mike to agree to send a refund...delivery guy showed up at 7:13p.m with only $24.74 to give me.. said the rest of my money will be brought tomorrow??? what kind of so called Restaurant does that.. The food is pretty good, it's really just the service that is hit and miss at this place. Either you're waiting forever for a server or she is at your table every twenty seconds asking if you're ready to order, which honestly is almost worse than waiting. The menu has a lot to choose from, which is great but if you're not a regular it might take you some time to decide. Isn't it universal restaurant language that when you ask for more time to decide and you're still reading the menu 1 minute later, you still need another minute! I kind of felt pressure to hurry up or leave, and I wanted to just leave. Pretty disappointing because I love a good neighborhood run down diner. I'll come back once I convince myself it'll be different this time, and then I'll probably be pissed again. read more

came here while visiting a friend that lives real close to this establishment. I had a great experience here. It was a Friday night and I expected to wait a minimum of 30 minutes when you just show up without a reservation. Well, NOT HERE! we were instantly seated and the it was not packed ( I have no clue why this place is a gem) The waitress was beyond nice, we had refills given to us thru out the whole time we were there. I did not go without any coffee the whole time. Now let me get started the about the food, I had a burger. My wife and I were invited to see a comedy show at this restaurant. The comedians were not who we were told would be there. One comedian Howy, who swears he was on Jimmy Kimmel, was the rudest, crudest most disgusting individual I have ever seen. I had been told many were on Jay Leno and Jimmey Kimmel, not to mention that the comedian Mike Marino would be there. Instead they had people that I have never heard of talking about having incest and being sodemized while we were trying to enjoy our food. The food? it was ok, just ok like a Dennys or Norms, nothing special. I would not recommend this for eating, comedy or anything else. I was embarassed that I took my wife there. read more

I love going to Lulus and have been going since I was a young, growing up in the San Fernando Valley. I recently went to Lulus for a group meeting and had a fabulous time. Monica was our server and she was incredibly attentive and friendly. We decided to order a few celebratory mimosas and they came in these fabulous large glasses. I had the tri tip sandwich with a side of french fries (which were cooked and seasoned to perfection), and we all split a tasty appetizer platter that had mozarella sticks, loaded potato skins, seasoned chicken, and stuffed jalapenos. Mike the owner is always so welcoming and I look forward to visiting Lulus again soon! read more
