Lulus is one of those grass roots homespun diners and has a unique charm and great food. The ambience includes paintings of vintage aircraft as well as models as a contextual tie to the nearby Van Nuys Airport. Food price is moderate, yet the quality is excellent. Their french fries are the best I've ever had in my life. They are larger wedge type potato fries with a light dusting of flour and seasonings for a crispy exterior get very creamy interior without all the grease. AMAZING SERVICE + GREAT FOOD I ordered delivery twice now from this restaurant. The gentleman who took my order was Efrain, the manager there. He was courteous and polite throughout the conversation. The delivery drivers both times were professional and reflected the character traits of management. Furthermore, they were earlier on delivery than they said it would take. First and last time at this Lulu's. Walked in and wasn't even greeted. Had to ask to be seated after waiting 10 minutes. Finally sat down and the bus girl had to take our drink order and set our table because our waitress was MIA. Waitress finally came and took our order. Food came out 20 minutes later and it was cold, oily, and soggy. My friend never got a mimosa she ordered and I got an eggshell in my omelette. Waitress never once came to check up on us after our food was served. Horrible food, horrible service. I get it was New Year's Day but if you can't handle the rush at 2pm then why be open. read more

It makes me sad to have to write this, but LuLu's may have lost their touch. We order from here all the time and as of late the food has been haphazardly thrown into the styrofoam container and cooked at sub par levels. My butter soaked burned toast did not have the appeal that lightly toasted bread did, maybe because it was virtually impossible to bite. I also prefer my eggs hot and cooked the way I always order (over easy), not ice cold and over hard. I ordered delicious food and that was not what I got. read more

I heard that Lulu's was under new ownership and I decided to give it a try. I have heard so much about this place and was there last year and was not too impressed. I decided to give it another try. I was pleasantly surprised about the change. Recently painted it looked a little different than I remember. I was greeted at the front door by a young manager with a big smile and promptly sat. Wasn't very busy at the time I ordered the special Almond crusted Salmon which was superb, cooked right and priced at under $14. They now have free Wi-Fi which added to my experience. I will be going back to try new specials. Full bar too!!! read more

Food was OK, and service was excellent. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes, and I'm not that great a lover of meat loaf, but I wanted to try it. Place seemed clean and fresh, nice lighting, good ambience. There was one slight problem...a somewhat larger man, who my waitress referred to as the General Manager kept walking by the table and eventually took her aside and it seemed to us that it was a contentious verbal conversation. We were very happy with the service, but couldn't understand why he would do what he did in the general public area of a restaurant. It sort of creeped us out because I have not seen someone do that to an employee in a very long time. read more

I used to order 3 times a week from Lulu's. The driver Mike that used to deliver to me was friendly, on time, and the food was always well packed and hot. The women who used to answer the phone and take my orders, were wonderful to deal with and very attentive about getting my orders taking correctly. For many months now there are different people answering the phones, who frequently seem to misunderstand my orders and forget to write down things. There driver Mike, who used to work every night now rarely seems to work there much at all any more. It's a role of the dice, who brings me my food, how long it will take to get my food, how my food is packed, and if my food will be warm or cold by the time I get it. Unfortunately Mike only seems to be working a couple of days a week. So now I only order on Fridays or Sundays, because he is the only driver there I can count on to give my orders extra attention: each item individually wrapped, so they stay warm and wont spill, items packed with care, and delivered to me as quickly as I think he can get them to me. I have asked him why he doesn't seem to working full time any more, but the question seem to make him uncomfortable and he did not want to answer it. I think it is a great shame that he is not longer their full time driver anymore as he was a very friendly and attentive driver. It is a shame that the new people working there do not seem to care as much about giving their customers the consistently excellent service that he does. Usually the food is very good, but sadly the delivery service is not what it used to be now that they have many different drivers instead of just one great one. read more

Something about how they have been here for over two dedcades under the law. Unfortunatelty for them and the waitress, us Gringos know Mexican speak. This was my first time coming here and I thought highly of it. They greeted me well and sat me down right away, since it was not their busy time which I was content with. I tried their Louisiana burger and it was okay, nothing really special. I could not taste any of the Cajun spices that was stated on the menu though. Oh well, what dissatisfied me was the waiter who took way to long to ask me if I wanted anything else. I assume because I came by myself or maybe she thought I was young and I wouldn't tip her well. Either way, she did not refill my drink till I finished my meal. I wanted to order a desert also and she never came until minutes later when she arrived with the receipt. Then again, she never came to collect my money so I can get my change so I had to take it to the register where I just paid and left. Delivery came super quick and the order was accurate. We changed one of the items with a special request and they even called to make sure they had it right. Definitely would order delivery again my only complaint was that my ham steak was huge and hard to cut (but who can really complain about more meat) I had the eggs benedict and my wife had the cinnamon french toast, both were good. read more

Denny's! DENNY'S! I've been eating at Lulu's for 23 years and I've watched it grow. This place is a diamond in the rough when it comes to the valley. Its very unsuspecting. Nothing about Lulu's jumps out at you when you drive by it but try the food. Lulu's is a no fluff kind of place. What it may lack in polished decor it more than makes up for in great food and service. The menu is huge. The salads are very very good (try the carne asada its great) and the portions are amazing for what you pay. My favorite menu item is probably the Chicken Club Wrap or any of the Focaccia Sandwiches. I always have a hard time deviating from these 2 because they are so solid. But the rest of the menu has everything from Fajitas, to Breakfast (served all day), to burgers, and pastas. Lulu's is a valley landmark for a reason folks. If youre in the area I highly reccomend it. read more

This place has the most amazing food and it always gets delivered under the time Eat24 states it will take. I've had both their breakfast and their dinner. The burger I like to get, The Ranch, is amazingly large. They do not go light on any toppings. Bacon, avocado, onion rings, you name it, they pile it on top. Let's not forgot that if you get sides it's almost always abundant. The fresh made potato chips are one of the best side orders in any restaurant I've had. Let's go to breakfast. Usually when you order breakfast to be delivered it's not always on time and is usually dinky in terms of portions and taste. Lulu's? No. I ordered eggs, bacon, a ham steak, and pancakes. On the pancakes I ordered blueberries to be topped on it. The eggs I got were easily jumbos, very large portion of two very nicely cooked overeasy eggs. Bacon was substantial, was three pieces, not the two it stated, so a bonus. The ham steak, was both huge and phenomenal in taste. Homemade, grandma style cooking. Now for the coup de grace. The pancakes. You'd think adding the option of blueberries you'd get a small cup of blueberries on the side. No, they literally slathered freshly made blueberry jam with large actual blueberries in the delicious jam. On top of what is easily cloud-like texture pancakes slathered in delicious cream. I nearly fell over from how good this breakfast tasted. I wanted to go into a food coma afterward it was so good. I saved half the pancakes and blueberries for desert later, that's how large of a breakfast it was. All in all this is a restaurant you should not pass the chance to order from or to go into. Everything I've had from them has been top notch food. The speed of delivery is always quick, faster than Domino's and even some less than adequate fast food joints around the area. Do not treat this place badly, for the workers and owner deserve credit for having a spectacular place to eat. read more

I've been coming here off and on for years. It's a comfort food restaurant kinda place. Nothing fancy. I take long breaks between visits because I don't always leave super satisfied. But location is convenient. I would come more often if the service was a little better. For some reason I always get the serves who run around like headless chickens. Which is a wonder when there aren't many customers. And today they brought me a mimosa in a glass with ice, very watered down. Tonight, there were 6 of us for dinner. Many of us had never been before. I was here a few years ago. It was not crowded but we heard guys rooting for the football game that was on in a different room. The manager there was so kind to us. I had the onion soup and wow...so much cheese and the broth was so tasty. The others had soup or salad or they had Tuna or a tuna melt. My daughter had french toast for dinner and said it was yummy. But then....in came the manager, Mike and he was smiling from ear to ear chatting with all us mom's and daughters. He then said...dessert is on the way....he brought us a monster piece of chocolate cake, a brownie with ice cream and the best funnel cake I have ever seen. Fairs NEVER make it as good as this one was. Strawberries, bananas, chocolate topping, home made whip cream. The service was awesome and the cost was not bad. We were there for 3 hours eating and laughing and never felt like we had to leave. Thank you Mike and the staff at Lulu's. It was awesome!!!! read more

I used to work at this restaurant. It is because of this fact that I know better that to eat here. If you had seen the kitchens, you wouldn't eat here either. The walls are blackened with hand grease and other greases. There is a considerable amount of mildew and filth that bubbles up through the drainage every night like clockwork. The refridgerators are over 30 years old and do not maintain proper tempurature. The food is never dated when stored and often prepared well past it's prime. They do not use State Health Regulated sanitizers for the tables or the dishes. The dishwasher runs on luke warm water. The soups are often leftover for the next day. The menus are sticky. The water filters are never changed. The croutons are made of leftover stale bread. You may ask how they get away with this. Well the owner (Elliot Smith) has been rumored to buy off the Health Department agent with Lulu's gift certificates. In addition to the health standards being dangerously poor, there is a serious moral defficiency within this establishment as well. The check stubs do not match the W-2's. The paychecks are tampered with. The liquor is often bought retail, which is a direct violation of the ABC's licensing conditions. The drinks are over priced. The food is over priced. While the menu offers hard to find items like french onion soup and broasted chicken, these items are not prepared consistently well. The restaurant shows a lot of potential but the ownership is too incompetent to reach this potential and the quality has been slipping steadily for years. I would give this place no stars if possible. STAY AWAY FROM LULU'S!! read more
