I love this place because they changed my mind about yellow curry. Long the bane of my food experiences, i had grown to fear and hate it. I saw a dish called Singapore Noodles. I was sorta interested, but fearful of the yellow curry, so I asked the bartender whether I should have that or Pad Thai. He replied that he liked Singapore Noodles. He made me a very potent and tasty Mai Tai while I waited. First the crispy rolls arrived. Yum! Crispy, nuanced flavors. Then the Singapore Noodles arrived, and for the first time in my life, yellow curry appealed to me. It was used lightly and respectfully. And it was good! The bonus? This place is truly local to me. It's a healthy walk or an easy bicycle ride from my place. Thanks to everyone at Lucky Corner! read more

Wow what a gem. We werepassing through Maryland traveling south and this sweetheart of a restaurant is near the hotel. Simply the most delicious dinner from appetizers to dessert. We started with spring rolls light flavorful. Tom Yum soup was well balanced but the star was the Chilean Sea bass. Don't miss this spot. You will make a point to come back we know we will read more

I absolutely love this new location that Lucky Corner opened because the food is just as good but it is more spacious allowing us to be fully immersed in an ambiance that is sleek and modern but one that also provides a sense of comfort.  As I mentioned, the food has always been delicious to me and I was pleased to find that the opening of a new restaurant has not compromised the amazing food that I've had at their OG spot over on Market St.  To start, my husband and I had the beef in grape leaves and crispy spring rolls.  I did not have any of the crispy spring rolls but my husband devoured them in minutes so I assume that he enjoyed them just as much as I enjoyed the beef in grape leaves!  It is not an appetizer that I usually get at most restaurants because I not fully sold on grape leaves, or at least I wasn't sold on grape leaves until I had them Vietnamese style!  The flavor of the grape leaves perfectly compliments the beef and creates a taste that is simply out of this world.  I am so happy I decided to try it out because it has opened new doors for me and that is something I really appreciate about Lucky Corner.  I am not as scared to try something new because I have never ordered something I didn't like at this restaurant!  With that being said, we decided to try the Chilean Seabass (with extra asparagus) and I couldn't be happier that we did.  I was blown away, not only by the impressive presentation, but that fish was so buttery and FRESH!  It was cooked to such perfection that it raised my standards for fish entrees to the point that now fish is good, but it's never nearly as amazing as the sea bass I had there.  (My mouth is literally watering as I write this review and now I am fighting the urge to take the hike back to Lucky Corner). We also had our regular order of the cubed beef steak and it was just as flavorful and the meat was nice and tender as always.  The marinades they use on their meat is always so good and it gives you this primal urge to lick the plate and I am proud to say we did not go there but man did we want to!  Overall, our experience at this new location was fabulous from the food to the service.  We love trying new things on their menu and are looking forward to going back to explore some more! read more

This place has a LOT of work to do. There was a total of 5 people in my group when we came to this location after we could not get into the one in town. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday night, no reservation, and we were told it would be 25-30 minutes. We were not seated until 7:45pm. There is what looks like a full bar with 10+ beer taps, but you are not given a beer or wine list. When we asked the waiter what they had, he listed a few bottles but no taps and also just randomly listed off wines. I was not impressed. Why do you have the tap paddles up if they aren't working? The waiter was also very scatter brained. We asked for water; they brought 3, and then another glass... and that's it. We never got a 5th. Multiple groups were sat after us, and were served their food before us and left before we ever got our appetizers. We ordered 3 appetizers and an entree each. We had to remind the waiter of each appetizer- I really don't think they would have shown up otherwise. At 8:25pm, 4 of our 5 entrees showed up. About 10 minutes after that, the 5th entree showed up. REALLY? TWO HOURS after we had first arrived our meals were finally there. The food was fine which is the only reason this review has any stars. The waiter apologized but barely looked at us when saying it and I was very unimpressed with the whole thing. I'd say come back to this place NO sooner than 6 months from now so they can work out whatever was going on. read more

This is my second favorite spot to grab a bite to eat at n it's right by my hotel. Fresh fast and yummy Vietnamese food.

Driving to Frederick is not my favorite thing to do but between my brother and Lucky Corner- he might get lucky with a few extra visits from his favorite little sister :). My brother and I met here for dinner on a Friday night. I already knew I was in for a treat because the line was out the door and the lobby was full. I put my name on the list and was told there was a 30 minute wait and unfortunately they don't take reservations. We were sat and greeted by our waiter and ordered our drinks. My brother got an old fashioned and unfortunately didn't enjoy it. We ordered the duck wontons for our appetizers and they were quite delicious, although I prefer mine a little more crispy than how they were served. I ordered the beef in lemongrass and chili oil with white rice for my entree and I was pleasantly surprised not only by the portion size but the amazing smells coming from my plate. The. Def was cooked so tenderly and I had more than enough for several pieces in one bite. I had enough to even bring home and share with my husband and have a small lunch portion the next day. I might just like Frederick after all! read more

My husband and I ended up with a surprise day to ourselves today and ended up at Lucky Corner. We've been meaning to try it but with 3 small picky kids...we just got to. It's kind of our "thing" to try a new restaurant by over ordering and we did it again here. We felt completely safe with COVID precautions in place! Our serving was friendly, knowledgeable and just attentive enough to not be bothersome. We tried the firecracker shrimp and Lime Beef Salad for appetizers. The sauce with the shrimp was perfectly spicy while the beef came medium just like we asked. The salad could use more "topping" but the flavors were lovely. For entrees we had the Black Pepper Shrimp and Basil Chicken with Thick Rice Noodles. We LOVE Black Pepper dishes from another local spot so we neglected to read the description which clearly states the sauce is "sweet, caramelized". This isn't our preference but the sauce was definitely both of those things! It was very rich! The Basil Chicken was hot, sour, full of flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce was so complex I'm glad they didn't offer a straw or my husband may have drank it. There are several dishes on the menu we want to give a try so we will definitely be back again, even if just for take out. read more

I have to rank this a one of the finest Vietnamese restaurants in the DC area. I have been here several times and so far the food has been very good each time. The vermicelli dishes are spot on, the coconut beef with vermicelli is great. Good Sate, flexible spice levels, good flavors. The service is good, ambiance is nice comfortable just at the level where you can wear a tie or jeans. If I were to give one downside, I tried the mango sticky rice, great flavor, the sticky rice was too dense, almost hard to chew. I have only tried it once, might have just been an off night. Overall very good. read more

We have been going to Lucky Corner for years! They are always reliable, consistent, and efficient! Usually we get pho and the broth is always delicious, clear, and flavorful. We also love the spring and summer rolls, the duck pot stickers and the vegan/vegetarian options they offer. The few specials we have tried have always been spectacular and surpass our expectations. Every aspect of this menu they have down, drinks included. They even offer delivery now with GrubHub! 10/10 every time. read more

This review is based on my experience last Sunday, all the other times they were good. I just want everyone to know and check your take out order. Husband and I were looking forward to a pleasant dinner sitting out on our deck. We checked the receipt and it was our order but when we came home it was someone's else. We called and asked what to do, they told us to bring the food back. We did but here is our complaint, after we came back to the restaurant, we had to wait for our food to be ready, they did not even try to cook our food while we were on our way, then to add to the insult, they add a free small container of rice for our trouble. Mind you, the food came with the rice, what do we do with the extra rice, throw it away of course. By the time we get back it was too dark to sit outside and eat dinner. So, check your order not just the receipt!!! read more

Came back to Lucky Corner after sunday service for some food with a party of 12. We came when Chinese new years was going on so they even had a show with a dragon going through the entire restaurant. It was quite entertaining and enjoyable especially for the kids We came in around 12:55 and was told that we would be seated by 1:30 which was completely fine. However, we actually weren't seated until around 2 which kind of irked me to be honest because if we knew we had to wait an hour to be seated, i'm 90% sure we would have chosen to go somewhere else because of how hungry we were. I really appreciate things such as accurate wait times. On top of that it took a little while to get menus and water which just continued to test the patience of our entire table. However, Moving on to the food: The food came out in a timely manner which made us all pretty happy. I got a bowl of Pho Tai (eye of round steak) and we ordered plenty of shareable dishes such as: grilled chicken rice noodles summer rolls fried calamari crispy egg rolls crispy pork belly (medium & spicy) black pepper shrimp and scallops crabmeat fried rice filet of chilean sea bass shrimp with eggplant and garlic spinach Food was overall pretty good, and as you can see we ordered a lot and this review is already pretty long so I can't go too in depth about each dish. However, I would recommend the Pho (of course) crab meat fried rice crispy pork belly grilled chicken rice noodles I'm giving my visit a 5 star because of the overall service for when we sat down and the taste of the food. Besides my initial frustration, my overall visit was great. read more

Always get the black pepper shrimp and scallops and it never disappoints! The pho is delicious too!

I was at Lucky Corner on North Market Street, Frederick, MD. My first experience with Pho. Melissa was very kind explaining what the food was all about and traditional ways to enjoy this wonderful soup/meal. The Thai tea was also a new experience and delightful. I have eaten Laotian, Thai that my Bangkok Sis makes, and some Vietnamese (the big buns are wonderful and I made those at home after learning ). A very calm and enjoyable experience in Frederick County, MD. Excellent food and very customer oriented staff. Thank you! read more

Very fast and friendly service, and very good food! I got the chicken with mixed vegetables, small wonton soup, and beef rolls. It was more than enough to fill me up, with plenty to take home for leftovers. We found this place on a whim after coming home from a hike and I would gladly come back here again to try more exotic things! read more

I've rate this so low because of a decline in food quality. I'm don't know if it's new ownership or the stress of the pandemic. This was our first time ordering Lucky after the move. We ordered a pho, tamarind chicken, basil flat noodle with chicken, and summer rolls. The pho was okay and so were the summer rolls. But the basil flat noodle looked like someone cooked the noodles without stirring them. It was a brick of congealed noodles with sauce. The tamarind chicken was sickeningly sweet (think sweet sour sauce mix with concentrated Fanta syrup) and the chicken was overcooked to the point of being inedible. I'm really disappointed because the used to be so good. read more

It's grrrreeat!!! I love their Seafood Pho. When you order a to go plate, they separate the contents from the soup. I also ordered summer rolls, Shrimp Fried Rice, and Pot stickers as well and my family loves them. read more

Always consistent. Great service, great food. This is more than a pho joint although the broth here is fantastic. This is where all the locals go to get their fix for high-caliber Vietnamese food. It is, quite simply, the jam. Grilled shrimp rolls are amazing and made in house. Entrees are as diverse as the traditional Vietnamese crepe, a fantastic rice flour crepe filled with bean sprouts, pork and shrimp. There is mango chicken which comes in an amazing crispy shell with peppers and onions. Also not to be missed is the black pepper shrimp and scallops, slightly sweet sauce with really crispy seafood in it. Amazing. All their specials are also on point! Filet and lobster tail like you've never had. It's really hard to find anything that's not spectacular. Even the fried rice is off the charts- it has a nice earthy flavor and everything in it is very fresh. This new location is really nice and has an upscale decor. Everything's done well! This is an awesome spot to be a regular at. read more

We really like this restaurant and go with some regularity. I like the seafood pho, best in Frederick IMO. Wife likes chicken dishes. I also like the seafood hot pot. Service is good. Atmosphere is good enough, considering it's in a strip mall. read more

Extremely disappointed. I've been a patron of LC since they opened on Market St. I've not had a bad experience, however this evening was terrible. I'm not sure if they were under staffed or if they're starting to sacrifice quantity over quality, but I definitely got that impression this evening. The waiter forgot one of our apps, the drinks were slow to come, reminders were needed. When we finally ordered the food was out in less than 5 minutes. No exaggerating here.. it's like they had it sitting on the counter waiting. I ordered the Mango Chicken which was drowning in a slurry of mango sauce, it was mushy and soupy. The padthai shrimp was dry and tasted as if it had been sitting for a while. I returned the Mango Chicken, but my GF ate the padthai. The waiter did not offer to replace the dish or bring out a menu for an alternate. This isn't a deal breaker for me with this establishment, but if they're very busy I will not go in. I do fear that quantity trumps quality whrn they get overwhelmed. It's unfortunate because otherwise I've had great experiences. read more

Lucky Corner at Westview is one of the best pho places in Frederick! Everytime I go it is always the best experience ever. My most recent visit I got the vegetarian Pho in beef broth with no tofu and they were fine with all of my menu changes. It.Was.So.Good! Especially on these bitter cold days we have been having the Pho and tea have warmed me up greatly. I always go in with the idea I am going to try something other than the pho and I always get the pho, its just so good! I need to go back and try something new but I know I wont stray from my delicious pho. The staff is always so friendly and quick! They do have drink specials daily, when I went it was $5 Martini night which was a great deal! read more

Food is fresh. However, the taste is just so so. The special chicken is very dry and hard to chew. With that kinda of long waiting time, it's not worth it. I guess Frederick has no authentic Vietnamese food. read more

Absolutely love the ambiance of this restaurant. The menu had a pretty huge selection to choose from. I had the Bun Bo Hue & crispy egg rolls. Surprisingly the Bun Bo was spicy like its suppose to. I've had this dish many times from different restaurants (including the ones in Vietnam) and I must say, this is one of the rare places to get it right! The food came out in a timely manner and was hot! Our waitress was great, she was attentive and even asked us ahead of time how we would like to split the check since we had a group of 6. Usually servers don't even bother to ask or dread the idea of splitting a check so I appreciate that. One thing I didn't like about this restaurant was the fact that our waitress WROTE in her tips for us on the actual check. It was an "automatic" 18.9% gratitudity added. Normally I tip well (20%+) when the service is great so I don't really appreciate it when someone write in their own tip. Management should definitely change this because what if she was a horrible waitress and I didn't agree with that amount? read more

This restaurant is by far the best Vietnamese cuisine our family has ever eaten. The server, David went above and beyond to make us feel like the only people in the room. Service and management are simply unbeatable. We started with the spring rolls and Tom kha soup which were to die for. The sea bass, Vietnamese crepe, and finally coconut sorbet were all out of this world. The chef is a master at sauces. Do not walk, run. I promise you will have no regrets. Thank you to the team at Lucky Corner. With Gratitude, the Nolan Family read more

Love this place. A regular for us. Try the Specialties, we haven't been disappointed ever.

This is one of our family's favourite restaurants in the Frederick area. Even my adult daughter, who has to be one of the world's pickiest eaters, wants to go there when she comes to visit. The service is always friendly and prompt. They come back to check on you after your food is delivered but they don't hover. I use the "do they refill my ice tea before I ask" test for service and they get a "10." We eat there regularly, about every couple weeks. The food is fresh, comes out hot (I hate lukewarm food.) and usually requires a take home box. I tend to order the same few dishes: the fresh summer rolls for an appetizer, mango chicken, Vietnamese crepe, fried rice, or spicy beef. Desserts are fried bananas or their chocolate truffle. There is usually a special dish of the day, also. Oh, and they have the coolest lighting fixtures. This is a nice place for a special occasion or just a good, relaxing lunch out. My husband and I go out about twice a week for lunch and this place is always in the discussion. read more

Very good food and service. It's a must visit when you are in town. It has all the delicious dishes from every corner of Asia.

Usually good love the chicken chili lemon grass but had the spicy pho tonight and meat was chewy and full of sinew. Noodles were undercooked and broth was flat. Getting pho from An loi from now on. Had to ask for hoisin and chili sauce and thus wait for it instead of coming with hot broth. Broth was cold by the time we got it. Y'all can do better. Must be a trainee night. read more

It seem like im not the only one. First off I called the restaurant one millions times to place a order. To my luck no one pick up, so i decide to come in and place a to go. The place was not even busy, no host to greet me! Walked to the bar where a waiter did ask if he could help so i told him i need to place a to go! The food wasnt even all that good. Pho taste like they use ramen noodles packages! Overall experience for me was the worst. I would give it another shot, but after reading some reviews i rather not get disappointed again!!!! read more

The only reason I continue to go here is my wife loves their pho. I can't seem to impress upon them that I don't want cilantro on my food. No matter how emphatically I tell them "no cilantro" my food will usually be served with the green soapy leaves garnishing and hiding throughout the dish. The few times I've sent the food back they've simply removed the cilantro and returned the plate to me (still tastes like soap). I now simply ask them to remove the item from my bill and wait until my wife finishes her meal. Looks like cereal for dinner again read more

Slow service and nothing special. Up charge for extra meats in the Pho, where other establishments provide ample meat in the regular Pho.

Admittedly, I have been a repeat customer to Lucky Corner since it opened, so please let me explain why this restaurant has received the 1 star rating. My first couple of visits were enjoyable. The staff was getting used to things, so I understood some hiccups. Each subsequent visit since had been met with further and further disappointment. Staff is rarely keeping up with customers, even on a slow night. Last night finally became the last that I will dine at this restaurant. The food is typically OK, but after we were seated, it took nearly 10 minutes for the hostess to check on us, which isn't her job mind you. She went to find our waiter, who could not be found. This was not the first time service was poor, but it was the worst it had ever been. Another waitress came to help us and apologized for the wait and took over serving duties for our waiter. While in the midst of eating, another table called our waitress to tell her they needed new food because there was hair in their dish. My family tried our best to finish our meals, but with the constant clanging of silverware being wrapped and tossed in bins for future customers only a few feet from our table, watching TV and carrying on their own conversations while ignoring customers, I couldn't contain my frustration with Lucky Corner, its staff or its practices. We finished up and asked for the check. Waiting another 10 minutes in a small restaurant, I was finally able to get the waitress' attention to pay, leaving one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had behind. read more

Called in an order and specifically asked for a dish without a particular ingredient because of a food allergy. We made it clear multiple times with the person taking the preset that there was an allergy. Pick up the order, get it home, sure enough that ingredient was in the dish. I would urge this establishment to reevaluate the lines of communication between whoever is taking orders over the phone and the kitchen because they are clearly not taking food allergies seriously enough as it stands. read more
