I got the Panang Curry with chicken. It came with Jasmine Rice and I ordered a side of the drunken noodles (just the noodles) to add into the curry sauce. This curry sauce was absolutely incredible. I could eat this for every meal. The noodles were made to perfection. 10/10 recommend. The place we lit well, smaller seating for the building. I would definitely recommend a reservation. Well let me say that the food was pretty good and the waitress did a fantastic job. The soup was very spicy and did not like the flavor and I sent it back for the lemongrass soup The owner was a bit rude when we were making a reservation and acted it was a big deal. We were very happy with our meal. The service, food, and ambience were all lovely. What we got: Tom Kha - 4* the menu said it was spicy but I disagree. It was a decent version of Tom Kha. Not the best I've ever had (I have a very high bar here) but definitely up there! Yellow Curry - 4* spicier than I expected but I really enjoyed it. We definitely like Sumittra, having visited twice now. We came here yesterday afternoon after a trip to nearby Emporium Antiques. 4.49 stars, oh-so-close to five stars. Service both times has been warm, friendly and responsive. Mid-afternoon on a Sunday, the restaurant was not crowded. Along with an $8 glass of red wine, JP enjoyed the Woon Sen. He ordered this dish because he likes the stir-fried cellophane noodles, onions, mushroom, celery, carrot and egg in the dish. I ordered the Pad Thai, my go-to Thai dish. Pad Thai's signature flavor comes from tamarind sauce. Today I picked pork as my meat. Sumittra is very generous with the quantity of pork they add to the dish. Came for pickup to feed 5 adults and 2 kids that nibble - came out to about $88 dollars or so Good sized portions. I feel like in the restaurant the portions are even bigger, from what I saw on the plates. But I feel content No images of the food but we got green curry, drunken noodle with squad, vegetable mix and vegetable puffs (these were very very good, only 2 to an order) Staff was very nice and it was busy on Sunday evening. I've dined at Sumittra Thai Cuisine several times and always enjoyed the food and the ambiance. My husband and I visited on New Year's Eve. When we called to make our reservation, we were instructed to arrive on time because they could only hold our table for 10 minutes. That was fair since it was a busy night. We arrived early and were seated quickly. Our waitress greeted us with water and a huge smile on her face. She really went out of her way to make us feel special. Our food was incredibly delicious! The Peking Duck Rolls were out of this world, and the Thai Fried Rice is a favorite. My husband ordered a Thai iced tea, which was sweet and creamy. Even though the restaurant had a steady stream of customers, it didn't seem overly crowded or loud. The dining area is small and could quickly become cramped, but that was not the case. After requesting takeout boxes for our food, our waitress came to the table and personally boxed up our food. She was delightful. I am so glad we did. We had the Larb Gai and fried spring rolls to start, along with the dumplings. My only complaint is that it all disappeared so quickly! For dinner my husband had the drunken noodles and absolutely devoured them! I managed to wrangle one bite and wow. They were perfect. My daughter and I each had the Thai Fried Rice. I usually order fairly hot but, tonight i decided on a mild, so that i could actually taste the food. Honestly, it just doesn't get any better!! The portion was huge, so I was able to take about 1/2 home. I don't know how it's possible, but It tasted even better the next day! The waitstaff were all very pleasant and attentive. We never had to ask for anything. We loved the intimate lighting and table spacing. It was nice to be able to hear each other during dinner. Been here several times, as well as the one in Charles Town (WV). Unlike Chinese, where most dishes are 'Americanized,' a great Thai restaurant like Sumittra features lots of authentic chow. The Pad Thai is the real thing, and the best dish is the Panang Curry shrimp. Nice and spicy. And if it isn't 'hot' enough, they'll bring a small tray with Thai chili oil and ground, powdered Thai chili. Service always great, and they'll bring samples to try if possible. Comfortable and fairly quiet; a good place for a romantic dinner. Full liquor bar. Great cocktails. And best of all; real, authentic Thai dishes. Can't get better than that. OH! When I went to pick and pay for my takeout the restaurant was empty and I asked if I can now dine in and enjoy my food instead of driving 30-40 min home and eating it cold. Such delicious Thai food! They accommodated our large group of 12. The service was fast and friendly, and our food came out quickly. My husband ordered the beef pad Thai and I ordered the seasonal Pumpkin Curry with vegetables. It was so delicious. The pumpkins flavor with the subtle coconut and heat was a beautiful combination. We sampled many other dishes at our table. The panang curry was some of the best I've ever had. The steak salad was full of acidity and flavor.
