A solid contender in our quest for a once-a-month or so Chinese-style restaurant. The overall impression was good, with everything well prepared. 1. Egg rolls were a bit greasy. 2. They have a wonderful duck sauce, but they do not give you anywhere near as much. 3. no fortune cookies (that may be delivery only we didn't eat in the restaurant) Overall, the food was good, and the quality was good. The rice (which is important to have) was not mushy! They are on our places to go to again. Plus I didn't try their hot and sour soup. Was in Frederick for business and my wife and I wanted Japanese and Chinese food. When we arrived, we were surprised there was no table service -- everything is ordered at the counter. Most of the menu is Chinese, with very few Japanese options and even fewer Thai. They also no longer serve sushi, so if you see sushi photos online, be aware they're outdated. We placed our order and bought bottled sodas, only to find out they don't have ice, which my wife was not happy about. The food overall was great, with one exception: the General Tso's chicken. The sauce had no flavor and there were no scallions in it. The broccoli was cooked well and still firm. The pork dumplings and tempura shrimp were very good. The beef and chicken lo mein were also very good, especially the beef. The dining area was clean, but the tables have that slightly sticky finish. The counter area looks messy and unattractive -- a big downgrade from a few years ago when it looked great. Not sure why they're letting it slide. They also prompted for a tip, even though there's no table service. They did bring the food out after I tipped, but still -- the expectation felt off. So I haven't sat down and eaten at this establishment but it is always clean whenever I have arrived. The food is also hot and fresh and very accommodating, I am not a fan of onions so they I ensure that I ask for them in menu items that I order. The Japanese teriyaki beef is amazing , the beef is nice and tender and the teriyaki sauce is very delicious. I also really enjoy eating their roast pork fried rice and it is always amazing as well. I'm new to the area. My favorite Chinese food restaurant is 5-6 hours away from me now. When I got to the area I was hoping to find something that could compete. After trying out a few spots, A Asia Restaurant comes close! I've ordered the General Tso's lunch combo a few times and it's great overall. The chicken has great flavor and even though it's sauced up something nice, it remains crispy! The rice is decent but last time I ordered the vegetables (peas) in the rice were undercooked. The broccoli was kind of cold as well. I had to take a point for consistency. I always order A Asia delivery when I need a sushi fix fast. We have tried a lot of the menu and always get the all day pick 3, its such a great deal and pretty good sushi. Of course I have had better sushi in my life but A Asia delivers. We order through grubhub and the delivery driver is always so nice! We have tried a lot of their sushi, spring rolls, spicy beef noodle soup, chicken skewers, spicy crab stick salad and much much more. I will take pictures the next time I order, its just so hard to wait and remember once it gets delivered because it smells and looks so good! With all the Asian restaurants in Frederick you just have to try them all to see which one you like the most for certain dishes, so glad we checked out A Asia because its one of our favorites now! read more

The delivery beat original estimate by 40 minutes and the food WAS EXCEPTIONAL! This is our neighborhood Chinese joint. It's just really limited, as far as good and delicious choices. It's not a restaurant where I would tell someone "everything on the menu is good". The green beans were old and lacked taste. It was just spicy. The General Tso's chicken pieces were too big and the sauce was just sweet and sour. It's supposed to hit all four tastebuds - sweet, salty, spicy, and sour. The crab Rangoon's didn't have a crab taste and the cheese is savory. Usually it's supposed to be sweet. So in the end, it was just average. Their best efforts lie in their Thai cuisine, asa Chinese American who grew up in China, I know I'm biased. I was so excited to try this place out and even thought I order it as a carry out, it was just plain all around. The dishes were nicely packed and look good, too bad it wasn't the case. Being that its new I was hoping they would be super good. I eat Thai food a lot and have tasted some top of the line before. The appetizer: crab rangoon was really good, nice and crispy. The rest of the food didn't taste like they were supposed to, the pad thai was just spicy but not like any pad thai that I have ever had. Noodle house curry was plain and super watery. And noodle were super chewy. Shrimp broccoli just tasted like it was steamed and put together. The most plain dish out of all of them. I have been a regular customer for over 2 years. My experience during that time is that the food was average to above average, never great. Three different times I called when the food that was delivered was sub-par. Each time there was resistance to any kind of reimbursement or recognition that the quality was not great. Some excerpts from my third phone call tonight: "I will give you half credit. If you want full credit because you ate a piece of the chicken you must bring the entire dish back to the restaurant" "When you cook, do you always cook perfectly? Why do you expect us to cook perfectly?" When presented with having to return the dish to get full credit and that then I should also be reimbursed for the delivery charge......the answer was "No" The owner promised to call back to discuss the poor quality......didn't call when he promised which was after the busy dinner hour. This restaurant basically provides good but not great food but will not stand behind their product like most restaurants. I recommend that you look to another neighborhood establishment for your Asian cuisine that is accepting of feedback when quality is poor. This restaurant is more interested in skimming pennies than actually providing quality. read more

I'm giving two stars in an attempt to be fair because of the number of times I've ordered from here that weren't disastrous. The food has never been spectacular but we've never had much to complain about, so I've never bothered to review it. It's overpriced and mediocre, but the menu is a good fit for my picky family so we order somewhat regularly. Tonight, though, there were caterpillars in the broccoli. They don't have Ice water, never seen that before in a restaurant. So I had to buy a bottle of water for seventy five cents and be sure to pace myself since there's no refill. This was further troubling by the fact that it was 95 degrees here today and their AC wasn't set at a comfortable level. My wife got a Mango Iced Tea and again, no ice. Strange. I had the Hunan Chicken combo which came with fried rice, a spring roll, and crab rangoon. Everything was disappointing except for the crab rangoon. The chicken, vegetables, sauce, rice, and spring roll all seemed to be low quality. Based on that meal, I would never go back, but my wife's sushi was fine, so I may give that a chance. I'm still hing up on the water issue though. They charge sit down restaurant prices but the food quality seemed to be that of a shopping mall food court to me. Would not suggest. read more

A Asia has not been open in this particular area for too long now but has become one of my favorite spots to order Chinese food. The location is very easy to get to and parking is never hard to find. The employees are nice and have always gotten my order correct. I always judge a Chinese restaurant by their egg drop soup, hot and sour soup, and beef/shrimp lo mein. Their egg drop soup is laced with chicken, which was a surprise to me but surprisingly really good. The hot and sour could be a little spicier. The beef and shrimp lo mein is on point. That makes them a winner! They do deliver to downtown Frederick and the surrounding areas. Recommend! read more

Just attendant here for the first time. I had the best Chow Foon Noodles I have had in years. Not greasy, great sauce and Chinese broccoli that was cooked crisp and green. You could taste the ginger in the sauce. The owner Andy was super friendly and even brought our food out. Technically this is a take out self service place. They also deliver. The atmosphere is very casual,but clean. My friend order sushi and loved it. 3 rolls for 10.95 The only disappointment was the dumplings but it could be because everything else was good. Service is not great as I had to wait five minutes just for someone to come and take my order even though they weren't busy and no one was ahead of me. All the employees were wearing full winter dress because it was cold inside. I asked for Drunken noodles as this place acts like they specialize in Thai and and a California roll since they also specialize in sushi. The rice in the roll was a little dry but overall it was ok at best. The Drunken noodles were horrible. The noodles were mushy and had bits of some other type of noodle mixed in accidentally, the sauce was completely wrong and tasted like some chinese american glaze crap, there was not one piece of thai basil, tomato, onion or pepper in it.
