It is important that I preface this review with the fact that I compare all Asian food to that which I had in the San Francisco Bay area. I tried this place twice, and was very disappointed each time. The first time I ordered the Kung Pao Beef, and it was not very good - practically tasteless. The second time (very hungry and nothing home to eat) I ordered the Pad Thai combination and pork egg rolls. Again, not very good. I ordered a spicy 6/10, and the meal tasted like pre-pubescent food for kids. Each time I threw away half the food because I simply could not get any more past my mouth. The place may be OK for American folks who never tasted real Chinese/Thai food, or perhaps for those whose taste buds are very different from mine. I will not order food from here again. Ordered Moo Shu Pork with pancakes for carry out. The pancakes were dried out and turned to pieces when unwrapped. The moo shu should be called cabbage soup with a trace of pork. It was a very disappointing dish and experience. read more

Okay... The reviews here werent too bad.. Figured we'd check it out since we live around the corner now.. We ordered online through here.. Chicken curry and pork lo mein.. Both came with fried rice... The chicken curry was OKAY.. but there were more veggies rather thsn chicken not that i mind more veggies but a TON on onions and peppers. a LOAD of water chestnuts (i LOATHE water chestnuts) I picked most of them out but every bite I got of it was cringey.. My other half had to massively season his lo mein before it had any decent flavor.. Then .. What do you know ? ...towards the bottom of the togo container was a freaking bug. Not even sure what kind of bug that is or if it was alive at some point and was crawling around the food.. Either way that is completely disgusting and absolutely unacceptable. We both got sick and he massively broke out all over his face. We went back over there to let them know and to show them.. I suppose it was the owner that was up front.. She asked to see it then asked for a pair of chopsticks so she could dig through the food to find it. Before she went to the back to show the chef she asked if we wanted new food or a refund. The quality of the food was terrible. The general tso and orange chicken was way too sweet. The chicken pieces were very small, looked like scraps. Ordered Szechuan beef and it barely had any beef it was mostly cabbage. Vegetable Lo main barely had any vegetables in it. I normally order from Modern Asia because they have the best Chinese food in town, but they were closed because of Covid-19. I will not go back to a China Sea every again. This place is awesome with some reserve in review. First time here. Ordered lunch specials. General Tso's chicken and chicken and string beans. Both dishes good solid fare. Come with egg rolls and fried rice. Rice was good, egg rolls were...terrible. More like a spring roll but the filling was runny and soft. This is probably the worst food ever. It's super greasy, tasteless and underwhelming to say the least. The fried chicken wings and fried egg rolls are always over cooked or burnt. Make sure to check your bag before you leave, I almost always am missing something. The inside of the restaurant is not inviting to sit and eat, even before Covid started. I've ordered from order eats before with no problems, however this time my order was delivered to my neighbor, even though my address is clear on the website, and my checkout information. I had to go "snatch" my order from my neighbors doorstep while another looked at me like I was a thief. After going through all that I brought my now "shameful" meal home only to discover that the highest rated Chinese restaurant on "Uber Eats" had a horrible version of general Tso's chicken. It's basically fried chicken nuggets, basted in brown sugar and ketchup..... do yourself a favor and try "the Great Wall" for general Tso's. I visited this restaurant today for the first time so I ordered something from the "Chef's Specialties" part of the Menu thinking these would be the Best dishes. I ordered General Tso's Chicken. It was comprised mostly of Chicken Fat, Chicken Skin, and some small assorted pieces of Chicken Thigh Meat. The flavor was bland, even though I ordered mine extra spicy. If I could give this place ZERO STARS I WOULD! I have been going here on and off for a year and every time I visit the workers there get more and more disrespectful. I walked in and the guy asked me what I wanted while he was fiddling with trying to refill a stapler. I told him my very simple order and then he proceeded for another full minute to mess with the stapler. THEN THE PHONE RINGS! He takes the full order of the person on the phone while I'm still just standing there .... at this point I had been standing there for about 4 mins. He hangs up and goes back to messing with the stapler for another 20 secs then finally asks me again what I wanted. At this point I am like WTF, but it was dinner for my husband so I held on. Then he gives me my total which is like 7 dollars and some change..... I hand him my card and then he has the nerves to point to the sign and say.... "minimum 10 dollars" ....... I said "hold on" and he handed my card back to me .... At that point I said "thanks" and walked out. Their customer service is TERRIBLE!!!!! Stay away from this place and go some where else .... if they are willing to treat customers like crap, then I wonder what's really going on in that kitchen! read more

This food was terrible. Both dishes (curry chicken & beef chow mein) had no flavor. The fried rice was very brown and also tasteless. It was $2 more but didn't have anything extra in it - just rice. Lived in Frederick for 9 yrs, tried out a lot of Chinese restaurants, China Sea is by far the best I've had in Frederick. Fast service and hot, we've never had a bad meal from them! Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I need them to have a second location in Hagerstown, lol! We moved to Hagerstown in Dec and we have yet to find a Chinese restaurant that can even come close to the quality of China Sea! Every time we try a different place around here, we say..."It's not as good as China Sea!" My boyfriend and I are both vegetarians and this place is always in our top 5 take out places. They have a build your own tofu dish that I get every time, I'm picky about what vegetables I like so I love that I can pick what I want. Tried for the first time because our neighborhood place is under construction. Called for takeout on a Tuesday night and the order was ready and waiting when I arrived 20 minutes later.
