When the business was shutdown because of a fire I went through a withdrawal as my go to for Chinese had been lost. Started off with tea, cucumbers and fried wonton strips. Definitely not used to a restaurant being so generous like that anyone. So refreshing. The waiter was extremely friendly and attentive throughout the meal. The crispy beef was a tad sweet. The lo mein noodles had a good flavor. I wish something had a bit more spice without asking for that on the side. However once added it was good. China Garden has been a Chinese food staple in Frederick for many years. Only recently did I visit again after many years since for awhile it had been shut down because it caught on fire in 2019. Let me just say that the food is surprisingly delicious. We ordered the orange chicken, Mongolian beef, Crispy beef, and beef lo mein. And the owner was generous enough to give us complimentary egg rolls that are only served during lunch. The food is delicious and fresh, and still served hot when we did a carry out order. My favorite dishes are the crispy beef, orange chicken, and beef lo mein. There's even a fresh sushi bar, which is great and I can't wait to try the sushi on my next visit. The customer service is wonderful and friendly. You can order at the counter and either wait or call ahead for pick up. They currently do not have wait staff to serve or take orders but that's fine because you can order your food at the counter and dine at the many open tables, if you so choose to but you have to bus your own table. We decided to order at the counter and wait for our food, but did not have to wait too long before our order was finished. The restaurant is clean, modern, and newly renovated. There's also a private lot with many parking spaces, so it's easy to get to. It's located right across from Frederick Middle School, and you can't miss it. I highly recommend making a trip to China Garden, if you're in the mood for good Chinese food. read more

I was excited to order some sushi however we were Told there was ' no sushi' We weren't sure if it was just for that evening or if they were no longer making sushi at all. SPOTLESS, DELICIOUS, FRIENDLY While passing through Frederick, MD (not our favorite town) we were lucky to have stumbled upon China Garden. The whole restaurant was squeaky clean, the staff extremely friendly, and the food was delicious. I was very excited to eat at China Garden. As a native to Frederick and a Frederick High alumni, China Garden was a staple restaurant in our beautiful, small city. Unfortunately, it burnt down but I was thrilled they were able to rebuild. Walking in the restaurant still has the same bones but with a more modern feel. The statue in the foyer and Allen welcoming guests gave it a very nostalgic feeling. The restaurant was pretty full and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table for 5. The waitress was very polite and I was excited to see the pickled cucumbers and hot tea are still being served to start the meal. My friends, new to Frederick, were impressed with the quality of food, the portion sizes, and the price. All 5 of us ordered soups, entrees, and egg rolls for under $125. We called to let them know, hoping they would be able to catch the other customer and give them the right order. We were fine with what we got. Nbd. We hadn't been back in awhile due to the rebuild, and the food quality was every bit as delicious as it always had been. Stopped by to grab my mom's favorite dish (Shrimp with lobster sauce) - turns out it was on their long list of lunch specials. What a bargain! Along with the rice & shrimp, we also received a small cucumber salad, fried wontons and some cookies. Mom enjoyed it all. I ordered hot and sour soup for myself - I found it to be a very good version - would definitely recommend. Service was excellent. Prices here are quite reasonable and there is ample parking. First of all...this is not Chinese food! No seasoning to speak of and it looks and tastes like it has been sitting in vats for days. The same tasteless brown sauce on everything and the crab Rangoon pastry was so tough it was impossible to bite into it. I have yet to find a decent Chinese restaurant in Frederick. China Garden has always been a favorite of our family, but they knocked it out of the park again when we recently visited for a double family birthday! We have eaten at other Chinese restaurants in Frederick, and numerous places throughout the MD/DC/VA area, but this is still our favorite. The food and service is top notch. We came off the road 2 wet and cold bikers needing a meal towards the end of the meal period. We were served hot tea and sweet spicy pickles as we sat down. Food was generous portions. Per the Fredrick News Post The Frederick restaurant shuttered after a fire damaged the building in May 2019. Now, there's a new building at 506 W. Patrick St., and it had a line extending to the door Thursday afternoon. "I've been so lucky. All my customers remember me," co-owner and manager Allen Chiang said. It's been "crazy busy" since a soft opening Sunday, his sister and restaurant co-owner Mei Lin Chiang said. The restaurant is so popular that community members voted China Garden "Best Chinese Restaurant" in The Frederick News-Post's Best of the Best contests in 2021 and 2020 -- while China Garden was closed. "This place is a big part of Frederick," customer Nicole DeVoe said as she waited for her order Thursday. Orders were only available to go, and it may be that way for a little while. The restaurant is short on staff and supplies, so the menu is limited, according to the owners. Customers did not seem to mind. DeVoe, of Frederick, has been coming there since she was 3 with her mom. Now that DeVoe has a daughter of her own, she hopes to continue the family's China Garden tradition with her. "We're happy to have them back," DeVoe said. Allen thanked the customers for their patience. He hopes the wait time will improve. Mei Lin said they are looking to hire servers -- it's a plus if they are bilingual. "Thank you for supporting," Mei Lin said. "We appreciate it." Assistant Manager Steve Trifone echoed the words of gratitude for the community. Customers Shaunte Hildebrand, of Frederick, and Myersville resident Jeff Fulp chatted excitedly while they stood at the end of the line. Hildebrand said she has been waiting a long time to see the restaurant return. She said China Garden's egg rolls are the best. While the eatery was closed, she traveled to Leesburg, Virginia, in search of the next best Chinese food. Fulp is a customer of 35 years. He was pleased to hear China Garden reopened. Walt Okon-China Garden, 506 West Patrick Street, Frederick. Maryland 21701 We went to the Cina Garden on Wednesday, 9 August 2023 for lunch after we walked the Carroll Creek park for an hour. The building looks new and beautiful situated as a single building on a large lot with parking all around and a beautiful China flower garden in front of the building. We were greeted immediately and seated at tableB1 along one side of the building. With in a minute, we were welcomed again by are our waitress Noelle bring hot tea and a small pickled cucumber serving. She made our dining experience perfect. She is a delightful teen, a senior in high school working through the summer. We ordered the General Tso's Chicken左宗棠鸡 and Orange Chicken 陳皮雞 lunch specials. They came with Hot and Sour soup, a spring roll and choice of rice. Noelle was attentive and served each serving with perfect timing. This restaurant is a hidden Jewel with its own free parking lot. Very clean and inviting. The restaurant is modern in decor and impressive and spotless clean. I watched and saw that everyone was treated like family. Restrooms were perfectly clean and comfortable. This was excellent value for a small cost. They do takeout. I highly recommend China Garden and rate it outstanding. Rosie loved it and we will be going back again anytime we are in Frederick.
