Beef Lo Mein
Jennifer R.

China Garden has been a Chinese food staple in Frederick for many years. Only recently did I visit again after many years since for awhile it had been shut down because it caught on fire in 2019. Let me just say that the food is surprisingly delicious. We ordered the orange chicken, Mongolian beef, Crispy beef, and beef lo mein. And the owner was generous enough to give us complimentary egg rolls that are only served during lunch. The food is delicious and fresh, and still served hot when we did a carry out order. My favorite dishes are the crispy beef, orange chicken, and beef lo mein. There's even a fresh sushi bar, which is great and I can't wait to try the sushi on my next visit. The customer service is wonderful and friendly. You can order at the counter and either wait or call ahead for pick up. They currently do not have wait staff to serve or take orders but that's fine because you can order your food at the counter and dine at the many open tables, if you so choose to but you have to bus your own table. We decided to order at the counter and wait for our food, but did not have to wait too long before our order was finished. The restaurant is clean, modern, and newly renovated. There's also a private lot with many parking spaces, so it's easy to get to. It's located right across from Frederick Middle School, and you can't miss it. I highly recommend making a trip to China Garden, if you're in the mood for good Chinese food.

Wonton Soup....yum!

I was very excited to eat at China Garden. As a native to Frederick and a Frederick High alumni, China Garden was a staple restaurant in our beautiful, small city. Unfortunately, it burnt down but I was thrilled they were able to rebuild. Walking in the restaurant still has the same bones but with a more modern feel. The statue in the foyer and Allen welcoming guests gave it a very nostalgic feeling. The restaurant was pretty full and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table for 5. The waitress was very polite and I was excited to see the pickled cucumbers and hot tea are still being served to start the meal. My friends, new to Frederick, were impressed with the quality of food, the portion sizes, and the price. All 5 of us ordered soups, entrees, and egg rolls for under $125. I can't wait to return to China Garden for future meals.

Table setting was very nice.

The service was so slow that the Uber Eats driver texted that they had not started the order yet and he was 10 min late.

Modern Asia Bar & Restaurant - Shrimp with Asparagus

Modern Asia Bar & Restaurant

This is my FAVORITE Asian restaurant anywhere. The service and food is impeccable. The portions…read moreare very generous and made with fresh, wholesome ingredients. The menu is filled with lots of varied choices, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai dishes. And to top it all off, the cost of this delicious food is VERY reasonable. Today, for lunch, I ordered Mongolian Beef, accompanied by hot and sour soup, which was perfectly seasoned and balanced, a spring roll, and rice. I had enough to take home left after consuming enough to be satisfied. I recommend that you make Modern Asia your "go-to" Asian restaurant.

SU ordered Kung Pao Shrimp, her "go-to" and every Asian restaurant, and compares each one to China Garden's version. Her verdict: Modern Asia's was "OK", and she told me I could eat the leftovers for my lunch. I did. My verdict was the same: OK, but nothing to write home to Mother about. (My comparison, BTW, is to a restaurant we enjoyed in Ithaca New York that made Kung Pao with peppers that would flay your face from the inside if you dared to eat one. Modern Asia's didn't even tickle, making it a let down). I ordered Seafood Combination Chinese Yellow Curry, a new dish for me. It was yummy. Described as one-pepper spicy on the menu, it had less heat than the Kung Pao, but the curry sauce had layers of flavor. It featured shrimp, scallops, and calmari plus a wonderful mix of peppers, onions, and other veg. All were nicely (crisply) cooked, even taking into account the Door Dash delivery time. I really enjoyed it. Next time I may ask for a bit more heat, but as it is, I hoovered up every morsel. Try it - you'll like it!

This restaurant is located in the Hmart food court. This was my first time eating pork tangsu so I…read moredon't have any comparison, but I liked the flavor and quantity at this restaurant. The pork was fried well and the breading wasn't overwhelming or too much. You can either eat the fried pork by itself, dip it in the sweet and sour sauce, or pour the sauce all over the fried pork. I liked to dip the pork in the sauce so the pork stays crispy. I was surprised that the onion and bell pepper were raw in the sauce. I would have enjoyed it more if they were cooked. There were also carrots and pineapple in the sauce.

About a 2-2.5: Delicious Chinese Restaurant - I really wanted to like you!…read more This vendor is one of the food court finds you'll find at H Mart - note that you have to go to another kiosk to place orders for any of the vendors that you'd like to order from; I guess it's a way to allow the eateries to focus on preparing the food, rather than lose the extra employee in dealing with the register. Masheeneun Joonggook Jip, aka 'Delicious Chinese Restaurant' offers your typical Korean-Chinese fare, such as jajangmyun, jjambbong, tang soo yook, ggangpoongi, etc. We came here for lunch, and we ordered: +jajangmyun - wasn't a fan of the black bean sauce, as there seemed to hardly be any flavor - it was super bland; also, the noodles were overcooked and were 'swollen' +hae mool jjambbong - the seafood jjambong's broth had a spicy kick to it; unfortunately, the broth was super thin, and while there were ample amount of mussels, the squid had a fishy smell to them and were not fresh; there were tons of noodles, however, but just like the jajangmyun, they was overcooked +soon sahl dak gganpoongi - these came boneless; this was actually not a bad dish, as the sauce wasn't too syrupy sweet as most Korean-Chinese places make them; they had a slight kick to them, had tons of veggies (bell peppers, peas, onions), and tons of sauce, which would be great eating with a bowl of rice I was a little surprised that the only banchan they gave you with the meal was the dakgwang (pickled yellow radish), but no kimchi or ggakdoogi (fermented radish cubes); I also thought that a bowl of rice would have been served with the entrees, like the gganpoongi. There was about a 40-minute wait (which we were quoted), as there were a lot of patrons ordering from this place - a recommendation would be to get there earlier before the lunch rush. This seems to be run by a husband-and-wife team, and they were really slinging everything; super kind. This may be a good option for those living in the Frederick area, but definitely not worth the trek for us. Glad we were able to try it, but we wouldn't return. Plenty of parking in the lot. +stick with the gganpoongi +overcooked noodles +order near the Sogongdong Tofu place for any eatery items +located inside H Mart +plenty of parking in lot
