Right now the city is making it difficult to get there by digging up most of the neighborhood but I urge you to persevere. Trust me - it's worth it! I had a steak sandwich that nothing short of spectacular! The steak, the house made horseradish sauce and the grilled onions were perfection. The bread was crisp without being tough as ciabatta can sometimes be. I was full halfway through but I couldn't stop until I had eaten the whole thing. Having returned to this local sandwich place for another try, I'm pleased to report that I had a better service experience this time around, and got my food within a reasonable period (maybe five minutes perusing the menu and waiting in line and less than ten from ordering my food to receiving it). As I'd hoped, it is more delicious fresh. Their menu doesn't quite align with my tastes, but the stuff I can order they execute very well. A "pepper pepper pepper" grilled cheese makes for a fascinating exploration of the various botanically unrelated plants to acquire this moniker (other English-speaking countries call them by different names), a bit sweet and wholly satisfying. Their veggie press, though is more likely what I'd return for. Either way, you get a nice serving of some thick house-cut chips with rosemary. Their sides have been winners too, including fried peppers and hummus (with carrots or chips, of which I chose the former because I'm getting chips anyway with the sandwich). The one breakfast sandwich I cared to try was an apple and cheese one that smelled nice but didn't excite; I'll probably stick to lunch with them. Came here last year and I still think about it! Their coffee and food were so good we went every morning on my trip! The seasonal coffee at the time was Peeps which was a marshmallow flavor and I've been looking for something similar near me since but it's not the same. We wanted to support this buisness but we were turned away before we could order to go**. Very rude and made little effort to try an explain that it was a policy just kicked us out. Word for word "no outside drinks inside or on the patio" as we were looking at menus to order food pretty weird experience. Stumbled across this gem for a quick lunch to get outside of the office. It's super cute the inside is nice and quaint full of super cute art. There is also outside seating that's super cute and cozy. I got the grilled chicken panini and it was yummy I also loved the chips. I'm usually iffy about house-made chips with sandwiches but these ones were pretty good. I also got the watermelon limeade! And wow so refreshing and yummy, definitely a huge fan of it. We were lucky enough to meet the owner Ellen and her husband who are wonderful people who give back to several local organizations. It was a good sandwich, but the place has weird graveyard vibes. Literally. You walk up and are standing across the street from one of the local cemeteries, and kind of stand among the tables until you figure out that you cannot order at the awkwardly placed window. I ordered the steak and eggs sandwich and added bacon and avocado. It took about twenty minutes to make and cost about $17. Ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT, Brussels Sprouts and Fried Oreos (couldn't pass those up) The sandwich was good; however, I do think they should give another option for bread besides multigrain! I do like multigrain bread, but not when I'm eating an unhealthy sandwich already! Multigrain overpowers the sandwich and I do think the sandwich needed to be filled more. We came here today, a random Tuesday because we didn't know where we should grab a quick bite. I came across Luca eats, so we decided to give it a try. I'm really glad we did because it did not disappoint. I got the shrimp and grits bowl and my husband got a bowl of gumbo. Both were absolutely delicious. These guys are as excited to be here as I am to have them! Formerly associated with Frankie & Johnnies, Luca Eats owners have revitalized the old Roman Pizza location in the best way. The once corner filling station has a retro look and cafe style eats served on fresh baked breads. The breakfast and lunch panini can be ordered anytime with ingredients like eggs, avocado, Chorizo, fried green tomato and fresh veggies. They've also added the famous fried green bell peppers and an array of taster sounding salads. I'm excited to make this a regular stop for casual breakfast/lunch on the go. Met a friend for a casual breakfast meeting this morning at this new neighborhood spot! Located on the corner of Lowerline and Cohn across from the Carrollton cemetery, this unique building sits upon a triangular lot with shady pines and a handicap accessible parking spot off-street. Knowing ahead of time they served French truck coffee, I was looking forward to that first hot cup. I've been on a health kick lately(?) so I ordered the egg white breakfast sandwich. The eggs are cooked on a unique grill that heats both underneath and above the egg for a consistent temperature! The sandwich also featured avocado, tomato, spinach and sharp white cheddar pressed on French bread. The serving size was a tad small by comparison to what one might expect, and it wouldn't be an issue if it was paired with fresh fruit or breakfast potatoes, but for $6 you really can't argue with fresh, quality ingredients. Serving time was on par with a well executed kitchen and we were checked on multiple times during our visit. One of the cooks even cleared our baskets while we chatted. I'm hoping as this new no frills and inexpensive breakfast joint gains traction with the community, we will be able to see some amenities added, such as free refills on coffee. I'm not usually a two cup drinker, but when you serve French truck coffee, I'm gonna fill up while I can! Can't wait to return to try another breakfast sandwich! Yum! read more

Yummy! I got the egg and chorizo sandwich, but did get them to serve it on ciabbata. (Can't remember what it came on, maybe French?) It was delicious. The bf got the chicken salad sandwich - it wasn't my favorite, the chicken salad was a bit dry for me, but he liked it. My friend got the fried green tomato sandwich which she enjoyed. We shared an order of Brussel sprouts, which we thought seemed slightly charred but were delicious on the inside. The grits were yummy too. Also, the potato chips are goooooood. I finally made my way to this little shop, and I am so glad I did.  It is nestled in an uptown neighborhood.  Very laid, back relaxed vibe.  Seating is available indoors and outdoors on the concrete patio and the tables are situated under umbrellas.  I got a Turkey Pesto sandwhich and an iced latte. I didn't even realize how much I needed to taste this sandwhich until I did- SO GOOD! All sandwiches come with a side of freshly fried chips with rosemary. A friend of mine loves to look at pictures of food and dream about them. He lives in Portland, Oregon, so I am not sure what he was doing when he stumbled across an article about the Oreo beignet they make here, but he told me about it several months ago and asked me to come check them out and let him know how they were. Well, like I told him, they were wonderful. I happened to be off work one day during the week and in the area, so I stopped in then. I also got the iced coffee, and that was good. My second visit, I had the bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, fried brussel sprouts (yes fried!) and fried bell pepper round slices. Oh. My. Goodness. I am in love with those brussel sprouts. Though the meal did come to just over $20, so it is on the pricey side. Everything comes in a paper boat thing. If you can not finish your meal, you are given a sleeve to slide the whole thing in for protection. How cool is that? Saves on packaging! The parking is all street parking, but it is in a primarily residential area, and next to a cemetery, so the parking does not seem to be an issue. From the outside, this restaurant does not look like much, but they do have interesting metal creatures in front. Inside is kitchy. There is a single stall unisex restroom with the sink just outside the restroom. There are some tables to eat at outside, but the interior is surprising with the great amount of seating they have. The interior was neat and clean, and they were not busy when I showed up about an hour before they closed for the Oreo beignet, but the two employees were busy cleaning, which is always good, in my opinion, when employees can keep busy, even when they are not. This area is not one I am generally nearby for, but if I happen to be in the area again when they are open, I look forward to coming back. read more

The highlight for me is the freakin' breaaaaaddd. The menu says "french bread" for most sandwiches so that's what I expected. It was more like a dense, grilled, buttered croissant. Omg... pleasantly surprised! The chorizo & egg was great with a perfect portion of meat and egg. The chorizo was a little on the salty/greasy side but it's well, chorizo. The dense bread snuggled it all together nicely. The Brie and apple sported the same "french bread" and I was not mad about it. Delicious Brie and the apples were cooked to perfection. Not too soft, not too crunchy. Flavor was great. The Oreo Beignets were so damn good. The cream of the Oreo melts a little and the crunchiness of the batter makes a great combo. My americano was delicious. Quality coffee for sure. The service was impeccable. Owner let us try some cookies that weren't even on the menu yet. So sweet. We tried an "orange infused" chocolate cookie and it was pretty good. Atmosphere is a little hipster/college/hip. Good music. Adding this to the top 10 Nola list. Waking up the morning after a Mardi Gras parade, I chug the bottle of water drunk me labeled "drink me!" Since there was no food left next to the bottle of water, I grabbed my phone and pulled up the UberEATS app. Unable to choose between breakfast and non breakfast food, I decided to order both from LUCA Eats. Once I got the goods from the uber driver (who didn't drive away frightened or laugh hysterically at my extremely hungover hot mess look), I hurried upstairs to dig in. The breakfast portion of my order consisted of the egg white press and the corn grits. The sandwich was delicious and consisted of French bread stuffed with egg white, spinach, avocado, white cheddar, and tomato. Beginning to feel slightly human, I tore into the order of corn grits which were equally good. Fast forward a few hours, I heat up the chicken and andouille gumbo I had ordered. The gumbo was really good and only needed a touch of hot sauce. I wish they had the option to add a piece of French bread for your gumbo or some potato salad.
