This is the cutest little down home breakfast spot on the Westbank with the sweetest waitstaff. The line seemed long when I entered, but I placed my order within 5 minutes and was sipping on my delicious orange spice tea. The breakfast burrito was packed with potatoes, avocado, onions, chorizo and eggs. Try it for yourself, it won't disappoint! I'll be back soon and be sure to leave some room for some of those yummy treats!

The ambiance and decor is charming. The staff is welcoming and the food is delicious. I had the breakfast burrito with a fruit cup. I love a tasty breakfast taco or burrito and this one was so good, I came back the next day to have another one. Chorizo, potato, egg and avocado give this burrito a spicy and flavorful punch. The potatoes are cooked to perfection and it big enough to eat half now and save half for later. I got my first one to go on my lunch break and came back in the morning for another one and sat on the couch on the left. The staff helped me transform the living room style table into a dinner table (it pops up)!! I haven't bought their baked treats yet they had samples our and the coffee cake was moist and just the right amount of sweet! I am Looking forward to returning!!

Another visit and the food was great. Place is popular. My friend who eats GF was amazed at the variety of items available that she can eat. Again, the food is great for those who aren't restricting gluten.

Gluten free king cake is amazing!! I didn't take a picture before cutting into it. Thank you for perfecting this recipe. So good Laissez les bons temps rouler.

Returned to my favorite little coffee shop in New Orleans. As expected it didn't disappoint in any way. Such a beautiful display of yummy eats. Plenty of order off the menu. Different egg casseroles, grits, pastries, sandwiches, etc. Menu doesn't really lack a thing. This is definitely a local spot. I just love this place. Was able to see MJ again, met CeCe and did not unfortunately get the name of the other amazing lady. First day was busy, but staff don't rush they strike up a conversation with everyone. The lemon pound cake square was delicious. I just love this cute and cozy spot.

Locally owned, locally ran. Very mom & pop diner feel- small restaurant team is extremely attentive and hardworking. You can tell they really care about your dining experience! Plentiful gluten free bakery options (6 pc assorted pastry box is $18). Really especially enjoyed the fresh Sourdough bread!

Great spot for breakfast on the Bestbank; there was parking on the side of building and it was not crowded. They get extra points because they "speak" when one walks in. One orders at the counter and your food is brought to your table. Service was quick. We ordered the hen house breakfast, the hen house stack, strawberry lemonade, and an orange juice. Their pancakes had an almond flavoring and the sourdough was great. They also sell lunch and many other gluten free baked goods. The employee told me that they shut down the restaurant during king cake season so that they can focus strictly on that. She says that they won the award for the best king cakes... I guess I will have to try one!

Quaint, adorable restaurant in my favorite part of Gretna, but... The menu was impressive, but the food was not. The bread on the grilled cheese was hard and too thick for the small amount of cheese provided. The pancakes were lackluster. They weren't cooked all the way through and the batter tasted as if it was missing a key ingredient. The latte was also off. I wanted this to be a good experience. The service staff was pleasant and the restaurant was very welcoming.

The nicest staff is at this chill, super casual restaurant. Totally gluten free baked goods every day. Pots of hot tea, fancy lemonades are wonderful. But most of all, the chorizo breakfast burrito is the bomb. It's hard to get anything else here now that I've had it.

I heard about the Hen House through my neighborhood group. It had opened up earlier this year and is affiliated with one of my favorite brunch places, Toast. Both good reasons to visit! I came here on a day off from work since their hours are from 8am to 2pm on most days. There are definitely coffee shop vibes when you walk in. The space is a decent size with booths on one side and tables in the middle and on the other side. You order in the front where there is display of all of their gluten free bakery goods and a menu. The menu isn't exclusively GF but there is the option to make your order GF. I chose to try the Breakfast Burrito with a Cauliflower soup as the side and a coffee. Once you place the order you take a number and find yourself a seat where they will bring the food to you. My Breakfast Burrito was very good! All of my favorite things in it: eggs, potatoes, and chorizo. Chorizo always has a great flavor! The avocado pieces were a bit big as was the cheese slice which I ended up picking some out. I really should have just asked to have no cheese since I'm not a big cheese lover. Drinks: The coffee wasn't my favorite. I usually like my coffee black, but ended up adding some cream. Service: Very good- everyone was very friendly! Parking: Street Parking.

The drink was $7.14 which isn't too bad, but the taste is great. It's very refreshing and not heavy at all. I came on a Sunday morning and the inside was a little busy, so I decided to sit outside. They have maybe 4 tables outside with music playing so it was quite nice. One more thing -- i really like the cup lid. Sometimes you'll go to a place and the lid makes it really hard to get an even stir/shake but with their lid it's so easy as you just plug the top with a finger and shake. Small detail but it's something I appreciated. The matcha coconut water is a must try!

Dough Nguyener's Bakery -- 4…read more Dough Nguyener's really introduced me and my son to the flavors of ube and pandan... and I still can't believe I went my whole life without them. Like where have I been?! We are forever grateful for that alone. As someone who already loves Vietnamese culture through food here in New Orleans, this place just hits. Vietnamese coffee is a staple for me--not even for energy, but for the flavor. If you know, you know... that bold, strong, chicory-meets-condensed-milk moment. It's rich, it's cultural, it's intentional. And when you start adding things like pandan cold foam? Simple, but it speaks volumes about the influence and beauty of the Vietnamese community here. I respect it, deeply. Now let's talk about that Croffle... a croissant-waffle situation. I went with the Chantilly and berries because... you already know, I'm gonna choose what feels like home every time. The cream was smooth, the fruit was fresh, everything worked. My only thing--personally--it was a little heavy on the almonds for me. Still good, just my preference. We also had The American--eggs, bacon, French ham, hand-cut fries, garlic aioli, and a baguette. I shared it with my son and made my own little sandwich moment with it. Used the aioli as a base, layered the eggs, bacon, and ham... and I feel like that's exactly what it was meant for. Solid, simple, and filling. I've tried a few other things too like the bánh mì and donuts. The bánh mì was good, donuts were okay... not my go-to for that. But that frozen cocktail? Listen... it was TOO good. Took it to a festival with me and between that drink and that sun, I slept the whole festival away lol. Overall, I'll definitely be back. I still want to try more from the kitchen--especially that chicken everybody keeps talking about. This is a great spot for early weekend brunch, late evening studying, or weekday coffee runs. Not too small, not too big. Beautiful lighting. A really good addition to Gretna.

Not wanting to leave empty-handed...I grabbed a slice of cake and some sweet potato pie...and let me tell you...both were absolutely excellent...rich, flavorful, and worth every bite...that alone convinced me it would be worth making a return trip...so much so...I actually changed my travel plans from 4am to 6am just to try those beignets. The next morning...I arrived right at 6am...along with about five other customers already waiting outside...we stood there expecting the doors to open...but after a while...one customer called inside and was told they couldn't open because they didn't have a cashier yet...one by one...everyone left. I stayed until about 6:15am...hoping things would turn around...but eventually had to leave as well. That was definitely disappointing...especially knowing they lost at least five or more customers that morning. The Vintage - New Orleans, LA…read more The Vintage on Magazine Street was our very first food stop in New Orleans, and it turned out to be a great way for my wife and me to start our trip. From the moment we walked in, I really liked the atmosphere. The place has a cool, relaxed New Orleans vibe with a little bit of an upscale café feel without being overly fancy. It's the kind of spot where you can come in, sit down, enjoy some good food and drinks, and just take your time. Of course, we couldn't come to New Orleans and not start things off with beignets! We decided to go with the Fancy Beignet Flight, which gave us a chance to try several different flavors. We got the raspberry, s'mores, and Chantilly. They came out looking almost too good to eat, covered in powdered sugar with all the different fillings and toppings. Almost... because we definitely ate them! They were warm, sweet, messy in the best possible way, and a fun introduction to our New Orleans food adventure. For my meal, I ordered the Italian Panini with the truffle Parmesan fries. The sandwich was packed with meat, cheese, and flavor. Looking at that cross-section, they definitely weren't being stingy with the fillings! The bread was toasted nicely, and everything worked well together. The truffle fries were another highlight. They had plenty of seasoning and Parmesan and paired perfectly with the sandwich. I also grabbed a small iced mocha, which went really well with the food and especially the beignets. One thing I really enjoyed about The Vintage was the atmosphere. The interior has a lot of character, from the marble tables and vintage-style flooring to the bar and pastry display. It feels like a place that belongs on Magazine Street. It was comfortable enough that we didn't feel rushed and could just enjoy being in New Orleans together. The service was good during our visit, and everything came together for a really enjoyable first meal in the city. Our bill came to around $48 after tax and tip for the two of us, and considering we had a sandwich, upgraded fries, drinks, and the beignet flight, I thought it was a good experience for the money. Most importantly, this place gave my wife and me a great start to our New Orleans trip. When your first stop includes a loaded Italian panini, truffle Parmesan fries, iced coffee, and a whole flight of beignets, you know the trip is starting off right! Definitely a place I would visit again. Great food, great atmosphere, and a great first taste of New Orleans. 5 stars from us!

Still a New Orleans Gem - Visitor since 2018!…read more I'm updating my review as of April 2026 because it's important for visitors to know that The Vintage has absolutely "still got it." My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Whether you are looking for a morning pick up or an evening wind-down, this spot covers all the bases. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. Jimmy if you are reading this, THANK YOU!! If you want a spot that feels authentic, welcoming, and consistently excellent, put The Vintage at the top of your list!
