Brussel sprouts, Pickles,bacon/ cheese stuffed pretzel

Location Near the convention center. Off Tchoupitoulas Parking Street and garages Atmosphere New Orleans deli-open and lively Service Order at counter-get number, service at table is attentive, friendly Seating Patio-low tables, inside high tops-great for groups if you go early! Menu You will want everything! I warned my friend and she ordered a "selection."! House made pickles, coke slaw, mac n cheese, sandwiches, muffalatas-pralines! So many New Orleans foods to choose from. We also had the pulled pork sandwich-huge stack of juicy yumminess! House made potato chips-not heavily salted. The muffalata was HUGE-yes, she went back the next day for another!! We had the turkey, avocado, arugula sandwich. The bread was perfectly toasted-best sandwich ever! Summary Pace yourself as everything looks good!! So many choices!! Every-time we are in New Orleans we go here and take others!! Best food anywhere! Outstanding service, energetic atmosphere, Go early or wait in line-worth it! See you there!

Another gem in a city full of incredible food. After doing some research, this place came up on nearly every list of must-visit spots in New Orleans. It was definitely crowded when we arrived during lunch hour, but the experienced staff helped us find a table quickly, and we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably. We ordered the muffuletta -one of their specialties and something I was trying for the first time. It was a fantastic sandwich, and the portion size was generous. The cocktails were almost as good as the food, which says a lot. This place has earned its legendary reputation, and if you have the time, it's absolutely worth a stop.

Le Pig Mac

Really good bbq in NO! Was told to stop by this place and grab 2 items. Le Pig Mac and Cajun Pork Dog. Mane! This was a Smokey goodness burger that was spot on Big Mac-ish! But Smokey and tons of flavor. The Cajun dog had a nice small kick to it that was flavorful and just the right amount of spice! This was a great location with plenty of people to give it a hang out spot vibe. Service was on point and friendly.

Le Pig Mac

Can't believe I never left a review for this place! I first visited back in 2019 because I had to try the Le Pig Mac, their twist on the classic but with pork, and it was absolutely delicious. Six and a half years later, I came back... and it was *still* just as delicious. Some things really do live up to the hype. There are actually two spots: Cochon Restaurant and Cochon Butcher, both are fantastic. Cochon Butcher has more of a casual, deli-style vibe where you can seat yourself if dining in or order at the counter for takeout. Perfect for a laid-back but seriously tasty meal. If you're heading to The Big Easy, do yourself a favor and add this to your must-visit list. You won't regret it.

While in town, I had to visit the other great spot for muffulettas. Here, these sandwiches are served warm, but more importantly, the meats are cured here. These meats make a great difference, as well as heating up these meats. But the goodness doesn't end there. This is a butcher shop and there is also a nice bar with draft beer with really great beer. I absolutely recommend a visit to the beer selection.

Gambino

I had the Gambino. If you like cured meet, then you will love this sandwich. A ton of meet! Great deli place.

Best sandwiches in NOLA. Awesome selection of beers and sodas. This is what you get if an Italian deli and a BBQ shack had a baby. I had their Moroccan goat sandwich and I have not been the same since. Service was elite.

Fabulous handhelds and fantastic service!! Sandwiches so fresh and absolutely stacked!! Was recommended Cochon several times, and now I understand why! One of my best meals in Nola thus far for sure

Watch out ! Can be expensive . But vey legit! Black eye chilli was excellent ! Muffuletta good ! Sausage was great smoke ! I got a tour of the cooker ! Looked like an oiler ! Service order at counter , but table service low ! Tipping is questionable . Real vibe

Bbq Pork Sandwich

Friend had heard rave reviews of this place so we checked it out. I ended up getting the BBQ pork sandwich which is a pulled pork sandwich. Pretty good, but honestly nothing more special than any other pulled pork sandwich I've had at comparable restaurants. Gf got the Fried Louisiana shrimp which is similar to the shrimp found in po boys around town. Not bad, crispy outside with tender inside. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Otherwise, a good meal but nothing particularly stands out. I will say that we don't eat meat much but still, I felt like it was an average meal.

I love this place! One of my top places in New Orleans to eat. Beat Cubano sandwich I've EVER eaten. Seriously. Perfection. The muffaletta was highly recommended and delicious but that Cubano still has my heart. The seeet pickles hit the spot too. I'd order it to ship to Denver if I could. The ribs were amazing. Shrimp was great. Duck sliders were tasty. Hogwash was very special and I fell in love. I wish I could this meal every day. We came for lunch and got lucky with two seats in the back bar. The line was out the door for good reason. It cleared out by the time we left and we got to see the lard and boudin to go. Love the Star Wars touches. I cannot wait to come back and I recommend this place to anyone who asks about our Nola trip. Good stuff!

Lamb wrap

Our group of 3 ended up at Cochon Butcher when we found out we had to wait an hour for the original Cochon but didn't have to wait at all for their sister restaurant, Cochon Butcher. We did not regret the decision! We sat at the bar and had full service while we sampled both the muffuletta and lamb wrap with some local beers. The muffuletta was as huge but delicious. The Olive spread was not as thick as some other muffulettas I have had but I liked it. The lamb wrap was good as well. Ambiance was very brewery like, lots of seating inside and out. Nice casual place to grab a beer or sandwich. The Star Wars theme was fun too.

Ribs. Le Pig. Muffaleta. Mac.
Julian B.

The best. Low frills and excellent service. Le pig Mac was my favorite. Muffuletta is unique to NOLA and this is the spot to get it.

Ask the Community - Cochon Butcher

Is there an actual butcher shop here? Visiting from Seattle trying to find a place to get some nice ribeyes. Preferably not from Walmart?

Hi there, We are an actual Butcher shop but we don’t consistently stock ribeyes.… Read more

How is the parking situation?

Street parking that didn't look bad.

Will you be open Christmas day?

We will not be. Thank you for your question!

Yelp says no reservations. Is that true? If so, how difficult is it to get a 2-person table outside nowadays?

Thank you for your question! We do not have reservations at Butcher-you can just walk right in. If there is a line, don't be scared! It moves really quickly and we will always find you a table, even if there is a small wait after ordering.… Read more

Will you be open for in house dining yet, 10/24?

We went a few weeks ago and they were open for dine in.

Are they open currently 8/2/20?

They are! With a dine in or curbside pick up

Is their deer sausage has any pork product in it? My sister is allergic to pork

I believe most of their items have some type of pork in it. I would def double check with them to see exactly which items contain exactly what.

Is there gluten-free bread on the menu?

Yes. They have several.

Does the butcher shop open til closing? or does it close early?

The butcher shop opens a little later than the restaurant, but closes at the same time daily. Usually 10pm or 11pm.

Is Cochon Butcher wheelchair accessible?

Yes

Is there usually a long wait for a table?

I was there two different days around noon. You order at the counter and then sit down. I never saw a wait for a table, but most of the tables were full both times. They also have seating at the bar.

How would a 18mo do here?

Just fine, it's a pretty casual restaurant and it's pretty loud, so a baby wouldn't distract too much from the atmosphere.

Can we order for take out?

Yes

The pantry offerings are relatively slim, but good. I purchased some cherry jelly that specifically is meant to be paired with cheese. There is also a supply of local produce. I grabbed a couple of onions and garlic and was wowed by some huge, beautiful Brussels sprouts. The proprietor recommended I shave them and add olive oil, honey, lemon juice, and pecorino followed by a brief refrigeration for a unique, fresh salad. I did, and my guests went gaga over it. The star of the show is the meat offerings. I did not procure any on this visit, but will be back for a stunning filet or ribeye. There is seafood, too-scallops, salmon, and sushi-grade tuna amongst other things. I bought a single premade crabcake and pan fried it at home for dinner. The best crabcake I've had outside of Dickie Brennan's. I'm racing because they deserve it.

I saw Iverstines in a YouTube clip and it looked intriguing. Apparently it's intriguing to lots of people because it was packed when we went. Despite the crowd, the wait was brief and the staff was friendly and keeping people moving. On our first visit we got sandwiches. The Cuban was a great choice. It was everything a Cuban should be. I would've liked more mustard but it was the best Cuban I've had in BR. Next trip we did a plate lunch. At the recommendation of a dude in line, I got the Tri tip. Solid choice. The green beans on the side were very good. In addition to the lunches, Iverstine is a full butcher. I will report back when I try some of their pre packed stuff. PS. They sell a hat with a piece of bacon on it that says Thiccccc. If anyone wants to get me that as a Christmas gift, I promise to change my profile photo to me in that hat.

While I'm not crazy about Bourgeois Meat Market's andouille sausage, which I have found to be a bit…read moretough, I enjoy their regular smoked sausage, and I'm a huge fan of their Cajun Smoked Tasso. For the uninitiated: Tasso is fast-cured, seasoned, and smoked pork shoulder. It's used in stews and simmered foods, softening as it cooks, adding a delicious, unique flavor and bite that's typical of many Southern Louisiana (read: Cajun) dishes. Tasso's difficult to describe, but you'll know it when you taste it. I just received four 1-lb. packages of tasso, shipped from Bourgeois' smokehouse in Gray, LA via FedEx 2Day. The order arrived in good shape, and though the ice packs surrounding the meats had melted, the tasso was smoked (and so, fully-cooked) and it was vacuum-sealed. It went straight into my freezer, and it'll be fine. The cost to ship from Lafourche Parish to San Diego doubled the price of the product, from $7.24/lb to around $15, but I pay that much (or more) for quality steaks and seafood, here at home, and it was my choice to spend top-dollar for meat that I know, from experience, will make my gumbo, red beans, etc. taste better than I could otherwise make them. Kudos to the folks at Bourgeois Meat Market for offering a high-quality product, and for handling the purchase and shipping in a professional manner. I like visiting their shop when I'm in the area, but I LOVE that they don't make me get on a plane to eat what they're cookin'!
