    Gumbo is delicious

Yes, my new spot on the Westbank for Gumbo, Potato Salad and breakfast. The food at Sweet Sadies is good. This is a hidden staple on the Westbank. Check them out. Fish on Fridays.

Let's just say I don't mind eating breakfast for brunch and dinner too! Sadie's OOEY GOOEY dessert melts in your mouth! It's a buttery brown sugar marshmallow something that makes you smile from the inside out. The edges are crunchy, but they too will melt in your mouth if you're patient.

This place is fantastic! Formerly Jerry's, Sweet Sadie's offers breakfast and lunch. They are open from 6am - 3pm. They have generous breakfast platters starting at $2.99, breakfast sandwiches, burgers and sandwiches, salads, and daily lunch specials. The staff is amazingly friendly (for this area). Even though I was very disappointed to see Jerry's close, Sweet Sadie's will certainly fill the void.

Two things to keep in mind. Don't let this place fool you. Its off the main street, looks suspicious, maybe on the list for a failed food inspection, but no. Its a local joint. The parking: Not a lot of room to park because of its locations so you might have to hoof it but we were lucky it wasnt too busy. The food: Sooooo good. They seem to have daily specials and on our first visit, I ordered the catfish with red beans and rice. My brother had the fried chicken, also with red beans and rice. And corn bread on both orders. Bruh let me you, this is BY FAR THE best red beans and rice I have EVER had. I took that corn bread and broke it into the red beans and rice and just about inhaled it after the first bite. It was that good. The catfish was good too, they had this sauce that was very similar to Louisiana Hot Sauce but not too tart and not too hot. It was so perfect we asked where to get it. (Walmart). On the second visit (yes we came back) they had smoothered pork chops. . The chops were moist and tender, rice and gravy were finger lickin good. The "mac n cheese" (in quotes because it wasn't the regular elbows I'm used to but still good). And the potatoe salad (it dont look like it but it is, trust me, it is) its just as yummy. So if youre in the area and visiting, ya need to go here. Your appetite will thank you. I'm saying dont let this place fool you

Our server, Christopher, was very attentive, suggested wine pairings, and gave us great recommendations. We started with the charbroiled oysters which is a must. They were large and charred to perfection on the outside grill, topped with parm and breadcrumbs. My friends ordered the filet and the gulf fish, and I had the charred cabbage entree, with a French gerwurztraminer blend. The mushrooms with the blue cheese sauce were so rich and delicious! Sweet treats were a no brainer. The blue cheese flan was creamy and decadent. A perfect ending to the meal. This is so far my fave restaurant in New Orleans. The moment you step into Atchafalaya, you realize it. Ambience is amazing, quirky, cool, homey and cozy. Staff is amazing. We sat in our own private room and were treated to a very special delight of a dinner. I tried the incredible fried green tomatoes, the seafood soup (?) and the incredible steak...wow, everything was amazing. And not only did Chef Christopher Lynch come out to say hello to my Autistic son but the owner Tony Tocco did as well and it made his day! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The restaurant was packed, and the staff was moving nonstop--but what really stood out was how smoothly everything was handled despite how busy it was. The food? Easily a 10/10. The chicken had that perfect balance--crispy and slightly spicy on the outside, yet unbelievably juicy and tender on the inside. You can tell real care goes into it. The greens were cooked just right with a subtle hint of spice that gave them great flavor, and the slaw had a light sweetness that complemented everything perfectly. Service was just as impressive. My server, Tashena, was attentive, friendly, and kept everything flowing without missing a beat, even in the rush. You could tell she genuinely cared about the experience. I also have to shout out the manager, Whitney. She was incredibly uplifting, constantly cheering on her team and keeping the energy positive and motivated. That kind of leadership really shows in the overall experience. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, I can confidently say this is a 1000/10 recommend. I'll definitely be back

Because I was trying to eat healthy at the time, I ordered their Grain Bowl ($16.00) which consists of quinoa, edamame, lima beans, cherry tomato, mushrooms, roasted carrot, roasted poblano, almond, & poached egg. I also got their Chia Pudding ($7.00) which consists of chia seed & orange and coconut puree. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! The grain bowl was seasoned perfectly, and the chia pudding had a nice mix of tartness and creaminess. The only downside was that I felt a little rushed by my server. He was polite but wasn't too outreaching. Also, they do add a 3% admin fee so just be aware of that. Theres only street and garage parking for the restaurant. Aside from that, I'd say Willa Jean was worth the stop food wise!
