We have enjoyed this place for years but with the cooks being totally disrespectful when all we asked was for crispy bacon . The comments coming from the KITCHEN the chef was yelling is unacceptable for a business. To the point we walked out with out eating and will never return. The patio at this place is definitely a great highlight. Its perfectly lit and offers some cover while enjoying outside. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful with the menu. The menu was a mixture of regular down home cooking with some classic touches. The duck fat and garlic parmesan fries were fantastic. My chicken sandwich was huge and delicious. Was recommended by antique store owner across the street. Didn't even know it existed. Wow, what a gem! It's much bigger than looks on outside and has a pretty outdoor patio. The menu is very extensive. We were told to get the pimento cheese appetizer which comes with crostini, olives, and pickles. Fantastic. I had oyster salad with blue cheese vinaigrette. Oyster BLT. This is a very cool spot for the sheer ambiance of their back patio alone where they also host live music a couple of nights each week. They make a lot of good food here and the ambiance is more akin to a diner style environment but kicked up a bit. The service is usually friendly although a few of the servers like to sometimes give you a little dose of playful smartass to play with your brain and keep your attention. They do some creative food and some of the expected basics so you get a good mix of surprises and your old favorites here. The live music times are really something to add to your schedule especially if it during a cooler time of year. Overall this is a great spot for good times, good food and good people! read more

This place is a gem. I had the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch and it not only was delicious but the portion size was so generous. It was wonderful! The menu size is impressive and all made from scratch. The banana cake was so good I swear I saw heaven on the first bite. Key lime pie? Wonderful. Great service too. We had the grilled pimento cheese sandwich and duck gumbo (soup of the day). The pimento cheese was so delicious and I don't normally buy pimento cheese but this has my enthusiastic recommendation. If you are in the area, you must stop here! The Palmetto grilled cheese and duck gumbo was the best meal I had all week in NOLA! The bread was toasted to perfection and was crunchy but soft and buttery. The palmetto cheese had just a bit of spice and was pure bliss. The duck in the gumbo was so tender and delicious! I was working in Arabi for the week and was looking for something local to try. Through yelp + instagram I found Kitchen Table cafe. I did not know what to expect but when i got the food it was so amazing that i've been back several times I first tried the lentil soup, which was good; the grilled cheese which was amazing; the salad which was also great; and the grilled eggplant stew which was more like a curry served with rice - but still good Overall, great food with excellent flavor and good service read more

Note: This experience and subsequent review occurred during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. As part of the 2020 coronavirus shut down I am trying to support my local businesses. I do not have a large budget though, so I limit my spending to one fairly cheap meal per week. One of the ways I pick where to spend my money is if they are giving back to the community in some way. I saw on Facebook that The Kitchen Table was providing meals to front line medical workers, so I decided to give them a shot. They are active on Facebook and post regular updates, which makes things easier in these times. They were advertising quarts and pints of soup to-go, so I opted for a quart of sweet potato and andouille soup. I ordered and paid over the phone and they brought it out to my car (some people were still going inside for pickup). Yes, these was a bit of a delay in the delivery to my car, but considering the chaos of the times it is understandable. The soup itself was delicious: creamy, with a nice balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. I ended up getting three meals out of the quart and felt my $12 were well spent. I look forward to getting to sit down in their restaurant once all this is over, and being able to write a better review of their establishment. read more

I had the opportunity to dine at The Kitchen Table Cafe on 17 May 23 and buddy, what a great decision. Business was slow in the early evening, but service was fast. The wait staff was very professional and provided excellent customer service. I ordered the KTC Burger with fries and well, it was mouth watering. The burger was cooked to perfection and everything on it was fresh. Their fries were perfectly seasoned also. I highly recommend you try this Angus burger. Now, I dined outside and I loved the ambiance. It's perfect for outdoor dining with live music. They have a small stage for a performer but there was not one there when I visited. I am confident this establishment is a perfect place to visit on the weekend. read more

I've always admired this eatery from afar but never had the opportunity try it. Don't be fooled by the camouflaged storefront appearance as it's appeal lies within. I came during lunch and the place was as still as can be! I was concerned but that subsided as I was greeted by a polite bartender who took my order quickly. I enjoyed a watermelon mojito made with love that left me with an oh so slight buzz! I ordered the hunter gatherer salad that was made to perfection with very fresh ingredients. The Kitchen Table is not what it used to be....once it was a favorite with excellent food, but is not anymore. After the change in ownership, we gave it a good try-- and found the oysters tough, the salads completely tasteless (though the chicken breast was well cooked, it too was unseasoned), and the barbecue shrimp is really a soup with whole shrimp in it. I avoided this place for what feels like the longest time since it replaced what I felt like was the best restaurant in St Bernard Parish, Old Arabi Eats. I frequented Old Arabi Eats at least 5-6 times per year and always had a great meal. In the past 2 weeks, I have been to The Kitchen Table twice and both times have been fantastic. We stopped in for lunch one Saturday afternoon and sat in their outdoor area where we were all alone. That always leaves me a little nervous but as soon as the food was brought to the table, my worries were gone! I had the Ropa Vieja which was a special that day. It's a Cuban dish of flank steak(think pot roast though), olives, capers, peppers and tomatoes served with rice and black beans plus plantains. The flavors were phenomenal. This made me and the lady friend want to try the place out for dinner. Fast forward 2 weeks and we are back. I again got the special which was a Cornish hen with roasted veggies, and whipped potatoes. The veggies consisted of Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and carrots. Everything was delicious! The ladyfriend got a shrimp pasta dish that she said was very good. I also had a couple of cocktails off of their menu. I can't remember the name of the drink but it was basically an Old Fashoined with orange bitters. We finished off the meal by splitting a banana bread pudding with chocolate sauce. Sooooo good! The Kitchen Table has sammichs, salads and daily specials for lunch and for dinner they have 5-6 entrees, 4-5 salads and a few daily specials. This is an adorable little restaurant in Old Arabi. I stumbled upon quite possibly the best restaurant in the parish. As I walked in, I knew I was going to like this place. Cool vibe, terrazzo floors, just authentic & not generic which was refreshing. Our waiter was amazing. He definitely had the gift of timing. Didn't hover, but things naturally seemed to appear before I needed to ask for them. The food was excellent. I'm a sucker for Pesto pasta & they definitely know how to make it fresh. We gorged a bit. I gave it a one star because of the chef, I ordered the Ropa Vieja and since it is a special the details of it are not a physical menu so the order was told to me out server who was very kind, shout out to Jennifer! My main complaint is I was unaware that the plantains that come with the dish are tossed in cinnamon. The cinnamon paired with the sauce was off putting and, when I asked if it could be remade I was told no that the chef makes exactly 3 per order as is no remakes. The guest should have the opportunity to make changes, especially when they were not notified or told. I will not be returning to this establishment. When it comes to the food was mediocre and the pricing for my specific dish is over priced for the simple ingredients that comes in it. I wouldn't recommend. We decided to try it since they have new owners and maybe we tried it out to early. The restaurant seemed to look the same but I found the food and waitstaff was not at all what it use to be. Many waitstaff behind the counter just watching. Our waitress wanted our order as soon as we sat down, a huge fan was at the front door that could blow you away. We had the fried Brussel sprouts as an app, it was okay. I had the salmon special and the salmon was covered with a thick layer of what I think was creole mustard and served with some veggies. My partner had the pork chop special. He said it was very good but the waitress never asked how he wanted it cooked. Good thing he likes medium rare. It took over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Meanwhile, my water was refilled without ice. My soup appetizer did not come until after my salad had arrived. The soup was bland, and the $12 salad was small. We had a table of six, so they automatically added 20% gratuity. Another table was seated, ordered, ate, and left before our food had even arrived. My item came dead last, 20 minutes after everyone else had received their meals, and those meals took an extra long time to arrive. Soup. Serving it requires a ladle and a bowl. 20. Minutes. After. This place is a hidden gem In Arabi. The wait staff is very attentive and friendly. The food and drinks are absolutely wonderful! Kitchen table cafe has by far the best drinks in St. Bernard parish. The reason I say this is because they actually know how to make real cocktails not just the sugary watered down stuff every other restaurant offers. Their food is very delicious and always on point!
