Our first stop was Brennan's and it ended up being our favorite dining experience in NOLA. We arrived at our early afternoon reservation after dressing according to their dress code. Our main server, Nohariz, was incredible. She was warm and made the experience elevated to another level. The rest of the staff were also amazing and attentive. It felt like we ordered the entire menu with our group and enjoyed nearly all of the dishes. Our Order: APPETIZERS- -Louisiana Oyster ($19): Overall decent oysters but didn't stand out. - Seafood Gumbo ($13): Has a little bit of a kick to it and tasted homey. Better than other seafood gumbo and particularly better than ACME's. ENTREES- - Eggs Sardou ($26): The artichokes were perfection. They had the right amount of batter ratio and the flavors were delicious together. - Pecan Gulf Fish( $31): This was my favorite dish here. The fish of the day was fresh and had the right balance of tenderness to crispiness. - Eggs Owen ($32): The braised short rib was so soft and flavorful. It melted in our mouths and was one of our favorites. - Duck Confit Waffle ($32): Mixed review for our table. Someone that doesn't typically like duck, liked this more because of the waffle and sweet flavors. I found the duck way too salty and I don't care for sweet and savory dishes. No one really cared for the confit. TRADITIONAL BRENNAN's BREAKFAST ($80)- The amount of food that came was way more than we expected and especially because we didn't see that each dish came with a drink pairing. - Brandy Milk Punch: Tasted like an alcholic milk shake. - Baked Apple: We didn't particularly care that it came out at the beginning. It tasted like the inside of an apple pie but less sugary. It was interesting but not something we would get again. - Turtle soup (paired with Bloody Bull Cocktail): We were hesitant at first but decided to give it a try. We couldn't tell if we were tasting any turtle or see any of it. The aged sherry is supposed to soften the meat but ended up ruining the dish for us. - Egg Hussarde (paired with champagne): Standard but good. - Petite Filet Mignon (paired with wine)- So good and tender. We wished there was more. - World Famous Bananas Foster( paired with coffee with chicory)- It was fun to hear the story behind the creation and to watch it made in front of us. Delicious to share but can quite sweet after a few bites. It came out with the coffee pairing and that helped balance it out. 2026 is Brennnan's 80th anniversary and since we were also celebrating a couple of birthdays, the restaurant surprised them with some aprons (pink for the special 80th) and a large cotton candy with a surprise cake and ice cream underneath. This was a fun addition to our dining experience and lit up the birthday people's faces. I ended up taking the coffee to-go because I couldn't finish it and a server was kind enough to put it in the cup and add ice per my request. The bill came out much less than I was anticipating given the amount of food we had on our table. Though some dishes were average, the dining experience and service well made up for them. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

A local institution with plenty of history and charm, so I can see why it's been around for so long. Unfortunately, our brunch experience didn't quite live up to the reputation. The dining room was extremely loud, our waitress was inattentive and dismissive and even argued with us at one point, and while the food was just okay, it wasn't especially memorable. The standout was the bananas Foster, which was delicious and worth ordering. Overall, I probably wouldn't recommend it to out-of-town guests based on this visit, though it's possible the dinner experience is better.

Brennan's ended up being our favorite dining experience in New Orleans. Everything from the food to the service was so good. We were seated quickly, our drinks were constantly refilled, and every staff member we interacted with was attentive without being over the top. The restaurant itself is beautiful and just has that classic New Orleans feel. The whole dinner felt special from start to finish. Definitely one of those places that lives up to the hype, and we'll absolutely come back the next time we're in town.

Felt like we had to make a stop since it kept coming up as one of the iconic and historic places in New Orleans to go eat at. We went for brunch. Overall, food was alright but waiter was great. Ordered: - Turtle Soup - This might have been my first or second time having this dish ever. It was fine. Didn't stand out to me - Eggs Hussarde - Their version of eggs benedict. It has Marchand De Vin Sauce which is a wine sauce. Works pretty well with the eggs. - Banana Foster - Their iconic table side dessert. Comes with a whole show/story time of the origin of the dessert. It was good and would do again if it was my first time but I would also be interested in trying their other desserts if we went again. So we originally were planning to eat here for dinner. They didn't have any reservations left on OpenTable, so I went ahead and just did the notify me option on the app. Throughout the week and day of we had a couple times when the reservation would pop up but we were too slow to get it. We decided to go ahead and try our luck with a walk in. Got there probably around 6PM ish on a Saturday night (about 15 minutes after they started their dinner services). We were told by the hostess that they were "fully committed for the night". I went ahead and asked if they had openings for the next day and got an 11:30 reservation for Sunday. We went ahead and got dinner elsewhere on Saturday, but around 8:30PM I got multiple notifications from OpenTable in a row that multiple tables were available from 8:45 and 9PM.

Our experience at Brennans was amazing from start to finish. The staff made our anniversary feel special with complimentary champagne, setting the tone for a great night. The ambiance was elegant and welcoming, and every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. A standout was the Banana Foster, rich, perfectly balanced, and easily one of the best we've had. Service was attentive and thoughtful throughout, including a surprise appetizer that made the evening even more memorable. Overall, everything was exceptional. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Brennans for a special night out.

Definitely read the dress code before you go if you're male. Women should also check, but for men I'd highly encourage it. Food was interesting. It was also good. Service was friendly. Inside is like you stepped back in time into an animation. I loved it. Tables were clean and piano music was lively.

Brennan's NOLA Bucket list place for me to eat at and was so excited I was able to! Classic NOLA decor, classy waiters, outstanding food. All of this makes it more than a meal, it makes it an experience. I was very excited to see a wine tasting menu! That warm bread is a welcomed beginning treat. The tasting menu consisted of oysters, Louisiana BBQ Lobster, Redfish, Duck and the Snickers for dessert. All had amazing flavors and the wines were paired perfectly. The lobster, fish and duck were prepared divinely and how they should be! I had the dessert later on that night at my hotel because when you're at the home of Banana's Foster thats what you have for dessert! Loved the presentation and story when it comes to this dish. Get the reservation and get to Brennan's on your next trip to NOLA!

Brennan's I was on site for the 2026 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. I arrived to New Orleans early, and planned on making the trip to the Festival later on that first Thursday of the Festival. I was extremely lucky to score a bar seat for breakfast on the Thursday of the first weekend of the Jazz Festival. This was my second Festival, but my wife and I had enjoyed breakfast maybe 20 years ago, so I did a Hail Mary to see if I could get a solo place at Brennan's for this day, attempting to book the morning of. It worked, even at this late hour. I had booked a room at the Crowne Plaza not far from Royal Street, where I would be able to order breakfast from one of the legendary brunch locations in New Orleans: Brennan's. Having secured a solo bar seat for breakfast, I was in hog heaven. Check out Brennan's Eggs Hussarde (housemade English Muffins, Coffee-cured Canadian Bacon, Hollandaise, Poached Eggs, Marchand De Vin Sauce $27.00) and their orange juice ($6) and a gin French 75 ($18) (I learned cognac is a viable alternative to gin - next time I'll try it). The Brennan's property is vast - very cool vibes from the piano in the courtyard. I regret not remembering the name of the bartender at the brunch. She did an excellent job of wrangling her support staff. The bar experience was, as one would expect, exemplary.

Surprised that with all our trips to NOLA we have not been here! Loved the classy setting, excellent service, and the delicious high end cuisine. We made reservations online, I tried calling but no one ever got back to me unfortunately. Luckily my reservations went through and we were seated on time. Our server was wonderful and attentive. We had the Louisiana crab claws that came without shells and beautifully presented. The hanger steak I had ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the trip. The ricotta gnudi was also a favorite at the table. The bananas foster and the birthday dessert they brought out for my husband was really impressive. I'm only deducting a star because one, could not get anyone to take or return a call. Second, I wanted to do the tasting menu but they would not adjust or sub for my gluten allergy which surprised me in a restaurant of this caliber. The turtle pond was a huge bonus too, the little lads n lasses aren't to be missed.

Came here with a group of friends on our last day in New Orleans and it was a fantastic brunch spot: very aesthetic with bright, pastel artwork, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Definitely fancier but still casual with a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend getting a reservation, as this place books out fast. We got the turtle soup and baked apple to share: the turtle soup was very flavorful and hearty, while the baked apple had a solid crunch and paired well with the cinnamon. I got the eggs hussarde as my main, which was filling and rich. Our table had the famous banana foster for dessert, which was very simple but sweet and refreshing and very good - 10/10. Our waiter was very friendly and personable - he gave us a quick rundown on the menu, what are the highlights, and cooked the banana foster while telling the history behind it. I thought the food was all good, but nothing outstanding. Also on the pricier end, but as a tourist, it was exactly what my group was looking for so no complaints.

Arrived for a late dinner without a reservation and we lucked out and got a table within 10 minutes. The hostesses, at the front, were very welcoming. The restaurant is super cute with their whimsical theme in green and pink. The only reason I gave a 4 star was due to the service. The service was a bit slow. We waited quite a while from sitting to ordering then after the main entree to get the dessert menu, and again after the dessert to get the bill. Now on to the food. I ordered the Cornish hen which was delicious. The parsnips were a bit undercooked in my opinion. It was quite difficult to get my fork through it and one ended up flying off the plate. I tried a bite of the red fish and that was lovely. The fish was flakey and was perfectly seasoned. For dessert, of course we had to get the bananas foster. While they are cooking up the bananas, you not only get a show but also the story of how bananas foster came to be. It was such a delightful meal.

Their fish! So so so so good

Ohhh the hype is real!!!! First and foremost they are BOOKED! No exaggeration prior to coming to NOLA i was checking every single day through out the day for ANY cancellation for three people and nothing! When we got to NOLA we're like f*** it let's just go and see if we get lucky. Of course we go and the man said kindly... sorry we really do book out 3-6 months out. HA! But he said you can get a drink at the bar and sit outside if you'd like. We're like you know what? Fine we're here we might as well still experience something! Also the bar is first come first serve and we were like vultures. We were sitting outside and when inside to check periodically and we got SO lucky and got three seats at the bar! Our waitress/bar attendant was theeeee bessstt! She was going crazy with the drinks. We got to order from the menu and we were just so happy we still got to enjoy Brennan's. Dinner service started and we saw the staff werk!

Bananas Foster. This is where it originated!

Brennan's was amazing! We came here to celebrate our dear friend's 50th birthday and it certainly did not disappoint. Obviously, I wanted to try everything so might as well indulge in the Brennan's breakfast special for $80 bucks. It was so worth it. From the baked apple, turtle soup, egg hussarde, petite filet mignon, and the classic bananas foster with a show, I left quite satisfied! All the dishes were paired with a drink which is also included in the special. The ambiance was really nice as it was definitely reminiscent of the 1950s with shades of pink and light green. The service was great, especially with the bananas foster show!

Does Brennan's have tables on the upper floors? Is there an elevator?

When we went, there was no tables available upper floors.

Please tell me about the dress code? Can men wear dress shorts with a collared shirt?

Yes, I think this attire is fine. It's very summery feel. We went during breakfast and I think there were men dressed in shorts and T-shirts. Go for it!

Does Brennan's have wifi if you need to use a laptop?

I'm sorry I don't know. I was using esim on my travels.

Do they have live jazz for brunch?

Ya' know I can't recall. I don't believe they do. Of course we were the first brunch crowd. Possible they do later on. It's a pretty posh place; perhaps jazz isn't needed then. There is so much of it everywhere on Bourbon Street. It's a terrific… Read more

Do they make accommodations for gluten intolerant individuals?

Yes, they will!

Is there a dress code?

No official dress code but i wouldnt wear shorts, flip flops, tank tops etc. I would also avoid worn out looking jeans, yoga pants, and t-shirts. We had a private party so most of us wore dress shirts and slacks but no ties. If your jeans are… Read more

Is there parking close by?

There is street parking and a couple blocks (maybe south) there was a lot (we walked past coming from the Royal Sonesta). I believe it was Charles Street and there's another in Jackson Square which is roughly a 7-10 minute walk.

For walk-ins, do you have to stay on-site waiting for a table to open up, or will they call/text you when it's your turn? Can you call ahead to get your name on a wait list?

I was seated right away in the bar area it was very nice. At the time I had to show proof of vaccination.

Do you guys have walk in or only for reservation? Thank you!

You should try and get a reservation there, but we had luck going there fir dessert. We walked in without a reservation and they sat us in the bar area. We had a great bartender (Marisa) who flambeed our Bananas Foster right by our seats!

Do they serve banana fosters at brunch/lunch?

We had it at brunch, when we were there.

Why are walk in not accepted in some days?

If they are fully booked with reservations, they don't want to waste your time. However you may be able to sit in the bar.

Do they offer a brunch menu every day? Or just on weekends?

Every day! Had the best birthday brunch there on Wednesday 2/26/20 at 1pm- day after Mardi Gras this year. It was amazing food and drinks and service!

Will the restaurant allow a dog that is in her pet carrier?? We would love to come here but the dog would need to be allowed in first.

My understanding of dogs in restaurants is ONLY if they are certified service animals. Best to call or seek out a restaurant that is openly pet friendly.

Is the banana foster available during breakfast, like at 8am?

Yes I believe it is.

Do they offer a bottomless mimosas option for brunch ? Thanks!

I didn't see it on the menu when we went this week.

Are reservations recommended?

Yes, usually two week in advance for the time you want. If you get there when they open you might be able to get a seat at the bar. They serve food there. It is well worth going to

Do they take walk ins? I've called several times and no one picks up the phone.

We walked in as soon as they opened and were able to sit at the bar within five minutes. All the tables are usually booked for about three weeks in advance. If you go at dinner time and expect to walk in forget it.

Do you have to have a reservation?

It's BEST to make a reservation (Open Table is a good one and you earn points)

Are kids/babies allowed to sit at the bar if we are just ordering bananas foster?

I would think not, but there is a small sitting section right next to it that’s very casual and it seemed like you could sit there if you needed.

Can I sit at the bar with my husband and kid, just so we can eat the bananas foster? or should we just get a table?

You can sit in the bar! I did with my son. I actually enjoyed the more intimate setting while watching our banana's forster being made. Enjoy!

I've never had crawfish and seeing it was crawfish season we were destined to be here. We built out our own seafood boil, which included, 1lb shrimp head off, 2 soft shell crab clusters, 1lb crawfish, corn, potato, and sausage. Let's just say we left with a pretty big leftovers box We ordered the hot house flavor and do not regret it one bit! Our server was so kind to show us how to peel and eat the crawfish and honestly it was so fun!! I will definitely be back next time in New Orleans!! One quick note I will say that I learned from a local that I wish I knew before this feast (And you should double check with staff if this info is correct). Most seafood boil places in the area when they have headless shrimp it is farmed and brought in from outside retailers where if you get head-on it's from local ships in the area/fresh caught. Apparently they've been struggling and if you want to support New Orleans local fisherman then go for the head-on shrimp. Again double check with staff if their head-on shrimp is local cuz I learned this information after visiting.

We waited approximately 30 minutes before our waiter even came to greet our table, which set a disappointing tone for the entire meal. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. It's possible the long wait and lack of attention from the staff affected the overall experience and my enjoyment of the meal. The restaurant has potential given the nice atmosphere, but the service needs significant improvement. Until then, I can't rate it any higher than 2 stars.
