    Turtle soup, baked apple
    Jocelyn L.

Came here with a group of friends on our last day in New Orleans and it was a fantastic brunch spot: very aesthetic with bright, pastel artwork, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Definitely fancier but still casual with a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend getting a reservation, as this place books out fast. We got the turtle soup and baked apple to share: the turtle soup was very flavorful and hearty, while the baked apple had a solid crunch and paired well with the cinnamon. I got the eggs hussarde as my main, which was filling and rich. Our table had the famous banana foster for dessert, which was very simple but sweet and refreshing and very good - 10/10. Our waiter was very friendly and personable - he gave us a quick rundown on the menu, what are the highlights, and cooked the banana foster while telling the history behind it. I thought the food was all good, but nothing outstanding. Also on the pricier end, but as a tourist, it was exactly what my group was looking for so no complaints.

We had dinner here our first night in town and had a lovely evening. The ambiance is a classic throwback with pastel decor. It's fancy, and they do have a dress code; no idea if it's enforced, but maybe don't show up in shorts and flip flops to be safe. I had a classic sazerac cocktail and it was excellent and definitely strong, so a great choice to sip slowly throughout dinner. We shared some appetizers including some of the sides which we turned into appetizers; the burrata, macaroni and cheese and cauliflower were all excellent. I had the redfish veronique for my entree and it was delicious. Who would have thought to put grapes with fish? It works! The fish was cooked perfectly. We all had the bananas foster for dessert. They flame it tableside and tell the story of how the dessert was invented which is a nice touch. It was an excellent sweet end to the meal. Service was excellent; our sever knew the menu well, and courses were timed nicely. Definitely a great option for great food in a classic setting!

Surprised that with all our trips to NOLA we have not been here! Loved the classy setting, excellent service, and the delicious high end cuisine. We made reservations online, I tried calling but no one ever got back to me unfortunately. Luckily my reservations went through and we were seated on time. Our server was wonderful and attentive. We had the Louisiana crab claws that came without shells and beautifully presented. The hanger steak I had ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the trip. The ricotta gnudi was also a favorite at the table. The bananas foster and the birthday dessert they brought out for my husband was really impressive. I'm only deducting a star because one, could not get anyone to take or return a call. Second, I wanted to do the tasting menu but they would not adjust or sub for my gluten allergy which surprised me in a restaurant of this caliber. The turtle pond was a huge bonus too, the little lads n lasses aren't to be missed.

Arrived for a late dinner without a reservation and we lucked out and got a table within 10 minutes. The hostesses, at the front, were very welcoming. The restaurant is super cute with their whimsical theme in green and pink. The only reason I gave a 4 star was due to the service. The service was a bit slow. We waited quite a while from sitting to ordering then after the main entree to get the dessert menu, and again after the dessert to get the bill. Now on to the food. I ordered the Cornish hen which was delicious. The parsnips were a bit undercooked in my opinion. It was quite difficult to get my fork through it and one ended up flying off the plate. I tried a bite of the red fish and that was lovely. The fish was flakey and was perfectly seasoned. For dessert, of course we had to get the bananas foster. While they are cooking up the bananas, you not only get a show but also the story of how bananas foster came to be. It was such a delightful meal.

Their fish! So so so so good

Ohhh the hype is real!!!! First and foremost they are BOOKED! No exaggeration prior to coming to NOLA i was checking every single day through out the day for ANY cancellation for three people and nothing! When we got to NOLA we're like f*** it let's just go and see if we get lucky. Of course we go and the man said kindly... sorry we really do book out 3-6 months out. HA! But he said you can get a drink at the bar and sit outside if you'd like. We're like you know what? Fine we're here we might as well still experience something! Also the bar is first come first serve and we were like vultures. We were sitting outside and when inside to check periodically and we got SO lucky and got three seats at the bar! Our waitress/bar attendant was theeeee bessstt! She was going crazy with the drinks. We got to order from the menu and we were just so happy we still got to enjoy Brennan's. Dinner service started and we saw the staff werk!

New Orleans classic - good food but nothing crazy. Came for brunch and had wonderful service and up close views of their famous tableside bananas foster. Their shrimp & grits were really flavorful and the chicken biscuit was cooked perfectly. Came as a tourist and was not disappointed

Bananas Foster. This is where it originated!

Brennan's was amazing! We came here to celebrate our dear friend's 50th birthday and it certainly did not disappoint. Obviously, I wanted to try everything so might as well indulge in the Brennan's breakfast special for $80 bucks. It was so worth it. From the baked apple, turtle soup, egg hussarde, petite filet mignon, and the classic bananas foster with a show, I left quite satisfied! All the dishes were paired with a drink which is also included in the special. The ambiance was really nice as it was definitely reminiscent of the 1950s with shades of pink and light green. The service was great, especially with the bananas foster show!

We came here as a group for brunch on a Sunday and it was one of our favorite spots. The decor and ambiance is top notch. Walking in, you can feel the history of this place. We ordered the turtle soup, eggs hussarde, and croque monsieur. The turtle soup was more of a hearty type of soup and was ok. However, the eggs hussarde was delicious as well as well as the classic croque monsieur with an over easy egg on top. I would highly recommend them. You have to order bananas foster at Brennan's, where it was invented. It is done table side while they tell you the history of this dish. It was as good as you expect! For how great the bananas foster is, I do have to say that the bread pudding was up there as well for us. It was still moist and was a great choice too. Overall, great food and great service. Our server was attentive and assisted us with any questions. I would highly recommended and will come back when I get a chance.

Waits wild here! Hostess is a little rude and not so friendly. We came here for their desserts and it did not disappoint. Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was so good! 4/5 $14 Snicker dessert was a 4.5/5 $14 So worth the wait! Place was so cute and cozy! Service was ok 3/5 I waited was weird, he tried to like upsale? Then made weird remarks. Then was super friendly! Super weird. All in all we enjoyed our desserts

Delicious food and amazing service. We made reservations a month ago on a friend's recommendation. We were celebrating a birthday and so many servers walked by and greeted us happy birthday. Our server was so good with providing menu suggestions and also sharing the history of this restaurant which is celebrating their 80th birthday. They started by bringing over a loaf of house bread with soft and creamy butter. We had the famous turtle soup, the seafood gumbo (great ingredients and flavor. We tried the pecan gulf fish as a main and it was so different and so yummy with the fish perfectly tender with a great mix of textures. We had to order the world famous Bananas Foster which was invented by Brennan's. It's a little pricey but worth it. It's $14 per person, minimum 2 orders. They cook it tableside while explaining the history of this dessert. I was surprised that the bananas were not cooked til soft but still had banana texture. At the end of our meal they surprised us with a special birthday dessert with Cotton candy, and ice cream and cake hidden in the middle. As we were paying our bill, our server told us we could walk upstairs to explore their special rooms. So very historic.

Mushrooms - so very average. The only remarkable comment is they were not remarkable.

Good grief! Do NOT come here. So EXTREMELY disappointed with this restaurant. We are originally from the area and used to come here a lot - how the mighty have fallen! The menu is very limited. Very. We were celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary. This was supposed to be a special meal. They absolutely knew. They had a black sash on the table to signify which table was celebrating. They gave different color sashes for different occasions. Why black for an anniversary? This is a celebration not a funeral. Lighten up. We asked the sommelier to decant two bottles of wine. Guess what? They only have a very few decanters in the entire restaurant and could only decant one bottle. The restaurant was virtually empty - we now know why. I'm not sure if the sommelier was new, but she was definitely clueless. She said they had broken most of the decanters and never replaced them...why? She also could not remember which glass she poured the different wines in and just mixed them...they were 2009 Bordeaux rated 100 point and 99 point wines.... Clueless. We said we would pour our own wine after that. You are not allowed to order single dishes off of the tasting menu as most fine dining restaurants allow. No amuse bouche was served. We ordered several appetizers (crab claws, Caesar salad, gumbo, etc.). The only outstanding thing about these appetizers is that they were mediocre at best. The entrees were less than mediocre. One party member ordered the Creole Spiced Tenderloin medium and it came out well done. The meat was to be served with horseradish sauce. There was NO sauce - only grated horseradish. The potatoes were the only better than mediocre food item on the plate. The couchon de lait was awful. Brennan's, what is going on? This is a basic staple of Cajun cuisine. So, very disappointing. The Red Fish Veronique was flavorless. We had macaroni cheese, mushrooms, and rice dressing as sides. The rice dressing had little flavor. The shells and cheese were the best of these. The mushrooms had a lot of room for improvement. Quite frankly Kraft Macaroni and cheese would have been better. There was a boil water advisory in effect for this part of New Orleans. They could not serve coffee with the dessert course because they did not go the extra mile and get a coffee maker at Walmart as a makeshift measure to use as a backup with bottled or boiled water. There were so many options. The bananas foster was subpar. The bananas were cooked for about 30 seconds. Inexperienced crew. They used light brown sugar instead of dark brown sugar. What?!! Commander's Palace's bananas foster is sooooo much better as is everything else there. The Tarte aux Pommes Normande was simply just ok. NOTHING was done for the two couples celebrating anniversaries at our table. One was for 50 years of marriage and the other was for 40 years of marriage. The birthday tables were given cotton candy. Ridiculous. In summary - AVOID!!!! Only giving two stars for the memories. They deserve a one star. So, so sad.

We booked a dinner at Brennan's while visiting New Orleans, and it was such a lovely experience. It's definitely a "nice night out" kind of spot, most tables around us were celebrating birthdays or anniversaries, so reservations are a must. Our waitress was wonderful: warm, fun, and very knowledgeable. She helped us pick out some fantastic cocktails and entres and gave us the full history of their famous Bananas Foster as she prepared it tableside. Watching the flames go up right in front of us made the whole thing feel special, and the dessert itself lived up to the hype. Beautiful atmosphere, memorable service, and a true New Orleans classic. Perfect if you're looking for a celebratory dinner in the city.

    Espresso Martini and coffee
    Trendy D.

Soooooo gooood! They weren't seating anyone unless you had a reservation. We only came for after dinner drinks and dessert so we sat at the bar. We ordered one Espresso Martini, one hot coffee, and one banana foster. Their espresso machine was down so the coffee drink and hot coffee wasn't the best. Banana foster me originated here at Brennans so it's a very popular spot for it. It was my first time ever trying a banana foster, never thought I'd like it because I thought it would be too sweet, but to my surprise, it was delicious!!! The banana foster comes with a little show where they cook/make it in front of you. They also explain the history of how it came to be. The staff were really kind and I enjoyed my bar seating experience. I would love to come back to Brennans next time have their banana foster again and try some other food options. Ambiance: It's a cute spot, decorated nicely. It's a more upscale establishment. It's spacious and you could host large groups here.

Does Brennan's have tables on the upper floors? Is there an elevator?

When we went, there was no tables available upper floors.

Please tell me about the dress code? Can men wear dress shorts with a collared shirt?

Yes, I think this attire is fine. It's very summery feel. We went during breakfast and I think there were men dressed in shorts and T-shirts. Go for it!

Does Brennan's have wifi if you need to use a laptop?

I'm sorry I don't know. I was using esim on my travels.

Do they have live jazz for brunch?

Ya' know I can't recall. I don't believe they do. Of course we were the first brunch crowd. Possible they do later on. It's a pretty posh place; perhaps jazz isn't needed then. There is so much of it everywhere on Bourbon Street. It's a terrific… Read more

Do they make accommodations for gluten intolerant individuals?

    Yes, they will!

    Is there a dress code?

No official dress code but i wouldnt wear shorts, flip flops, tank tops etc. I would also avoid worn out looking jeans, yoga pants, and t-shirts. We had a private party so most of us wore dress shirts and slacks but no ties. If your jeans are… Read more

    Is there parking close by?

There is street parking and a couple blocks (maybe south) there was a lot (we walked past coming from the Royal Sonesta). I believe it was Charles Street and there's another in Jackson Square which is roughly a 7-10 minute walk.

For walk-ins, do you have to stay on-site waiting for a table to open up, or will they call/text you when it's your turn? Can you call ahead to get your name on a wait list?

I was seated right away in the bar area it was very nice. At the time I had to show proof of vaccination.

Do you guys have walk in or only for reservation? Thank you!

You should try and get a reservation there, but we had luck going there fir dessert. We walked in without a reservation and they sat us in the bar area. We had a great bartender (Marisa) who flambeed our Bananas Foster right by our seats!

Do they serve banana fosters at brunch/lunch?

We had it at brunch, when we were there.

Why are walk in not accepted in some days?

If they are fully booked with reservations, they don't want to waste your time. However you may be able to sit in the bar.

Do they offer a brunch menu every day? Or just on weekends?

Every day! Had the best birthday brunch there on Wednesday 2/26/20 at 1pm- day after Mardi Gras this year. It was amazing food and drinks and service!

Will the restaurant allow a dog that is in her pet carrier?? We would love to come here but the dog would need to be allowed in first.

My understanding of dogs in restaurants is ONLY if they are certified service animals. Best to call or seek out a restaurant that is openly pet friendly.

Is the banana foster available during breakfast, like at 8am?

    Yes I believe it is.

Do they offer a bottomless mimosas option for brunch ? Thanks!

I didn't see it on the menu when we went this week.

    Are reservations recommended?

Yes, usually two week in advance for the time you want. If you get there when they open you might be able to get a seat at the bar. They serve food there. It is well worth going to

Do they take walk ins? I've called several times and no one picks up the phone.

We walked in as soon as they opened and were able to sit at the bar within five minutes. All the tables are usually booked for about three weeks in advance. If you go at dinner time and expect to walk in forget it.

Do you have to have a reservation?

It's BEST to make a reservation (Open Table is a good one and you earn points)

Are kids/babies allowed to sit at the bar if we are just ordering bananas foster?

I would think not, but there is a small sitting section right next to it that’s very casual and it seemed like you could sit there if you needed.

Can I sit at the bar with my husband and kid, just so we can eat the bananas foster? or should we just get a table?

You can sit in the bar! I did with my son. I actually enjoyed the more intimate setting while watching our banana's forster being made. Enjoy!

Of the dozens of restaurants I've visited in New Orleans, rare is the menu that includes a crawfish boil. Hot'n Cajun has it. I asked the barkeep Sandy B. if it was still crawfish season, and she assured me that it was. So I ordered 3 pounds of boiled crawfish (including potatoes and corn on the cob, $25.99), asked that the seasoning be "medium", and Sandy brought me a Model ($9) with a neat Maker's Mark ($12). The experience was pretty close to what I remember we'd find if invited to a neighbor's crawfish boil. Three pounds sounds like a lot, but the yield is more like half a pound, at most. So I put the gloves and bib on and started in on the crawfish. Nice presentation, and very good, fresh crawfish.
