The Loving Hut is on Montgomery Road in Pleasant Ridge right downt he street from Everybody's Records. You can park on the street or park in the back, but if you do park in the back be very careful turning into that narrow ass driveway because you will curb your wheel or maybe even hit your fender. Take your time and turn in as slowly and straight as you can. You've been warned. LOL They have a very extensive menu...I mean good grief - what to get??? I settled on the grilled spring rolls, house salad w/almond ginger dressing, and a glass of tea. I was surprised how small the rolls were, but they were good. The house salad was soooooo goood! However, for the luvva gawd the service was slow. There weren't that many people in line, but it took about 25 minutes for me to get my food and I was dining in. I was thinking "did they forget about me?" Knowing all of this...I'd still go back. I came here for the very first time with 2 coworkers today on a Friday for lunch. I was super stoked to see they had so many gluten free and dairy free options! They had a little seating area in the front of the establishment followed by the counter where you order the food and then a larger restaurant-style seating area in the back. We ordered our food to go and there was maybe 4 people ahead of us in line when we arrived. Between waiting in line, ordering our food and receiving it, it took AN HOUR! They are definitely not known for their fast service and it was a bit frustrating considering we only had a half hour for lunch. I paid $11 for a gluten free Mexican Wrap ($9 usually, $2 extra for the GF option) which I thought was a bit pricey.. but it was SO GOOD! Vegan cheese and sour cream is typically disgusting but everything about this wrap tasted great! I am definitely not a vegetarian or vegan...but I love the Loving Hut! I recognize I'm not the target demographic of The Loving Hut. Still, I feel compelled to share my excitement for their craft. They create simple, fresh, delicious dishes. I love that their meals are fast but healthy. And that they have a socially-conscious mission. But mostly I love the taste. I've tried multiple offerings and always been pleased. I do tend to gravitate towards the tofu or seitan meals that are titled "chicken" or "turkey". The 'faux-meat' options, if you will. I point this out because meat items in quotations are always something that makes meat-eaters hesitant...but I can tell you (to all my fellow carnivores) that you'll enjoy ever bite! And your vegan/vegetarian friends will appreciate the chance to enjoy a restaurant where THEY have multiple options to choose from. This place is absolutely delicious! The buffalo chicken wrap is my favorite. Ever since becoming vegetarian, I really missed getting these when I go out to eat, and the ones from the Loving Hut has filled the hole of buffalo chicken wraps in my heart. Heard and read so much of about them that we decided to give it a try on this Valentines day! So, I finally dragged my carnivore husband's ass to this place at 5 am. We only had two people ahead us at the counter but it took them exactly 51 MINUTES to serve us food which was the worst experience! We had a movie to catch! We ordered grilled dimsums, drumsticks, a seitan Panini and an Impossible burger. Griller dimsums- the filling seemed ok but they stank and tasted weird may be because of the oil they used. (They must have been using the same oil for frying for a long time) Drumsticks- They were really GOOD! Seitan Panini- YUMM!!! Impossible Burger- Probably the BEST veggie burger I have ever had, after Red Robbins and White Castle. I LOVED it! I always love coming here as they are the only place in Cincinnati that is all vegan. Don't let that scare you away though. There is self seating after you order your food at the front and take a number you are given. Finding parking here is never an issue. You can't go wrong with whatever dish you order. I will start off saying that I really was looking forward to dining at and enjoying the Loving Hut. My boyfriend and I went in with open minds and open stomachs with no real expectations besides a full vegan menu. Onsite private parking was a huge bonus, especially in Cincinnati. The parking lot was very spacious and well maintained. Once inside the decor was pretty dated throughout but I personally didn't mind. I am a fan of unique mom and pop restaurants. The overall feel was very cozy and welcoming. Everything definitely reflects the owners tastes and beliefs. One thing I really did appreciate were the biodegradable utensils and cups. The only complaint that I have about the interior is that it could have been a little cleaner. Although I was more forgiving because they were very busy while we dined in. There was a line to the door for almost the entire duration of our meal. For our appetizer we ordered spring rolls, mac and cheese and chips and salsa. I'll start off by saying the spring rolls were outstanding. According to the menu they are baked, not fried, leaving them much lighter and crispier without any greasy fingers. We agreed they were some of the best spring rolls we've had in a long time. They sell them frozen in 12 packs that you can heat up at home in your oven. I definitely plan on making a trip back and buying some for home in the future. Unfortunately we were not big fans of the Mac and cheese and chips and salsa. The Mac and cheese didn't have much flavor at all and the noodles were a little too soft for my taste. The chips and salsa were the bigger let down. The menu said "house salsa sauce" which I assumed was made in house which is why I ordered it (I am not a fan of bottled salsa at all) and to my disappointment one bite in I knew it wasn't made in house. Our entrees came out not long after our appetizers, both looked very appetizing and were pretty large proportions. My boyfriend really enjoyed his BBQ wrap. He said the rice was cooked perfectly and the ingredients seemed very fresh and complimented each other. His only complaint was that the BBQ sauce was too sweet for his taste. My Cincinnati chili was okay. It had a good Skyline chili flavor but I ran into the mushy noodle issue again. I feel I would have liked it more without the vegan cheese as it can be a little stodgy on certain things. However, the onions did a lot for the dish and I appreciated how thinly they were sliced so that they weren't overbearing. I'm not sure it's something I would order again though. We ended things on a great note with the vegan cheesecake. The flavor of the cheesecake was fantastic and so was the texture, something I thought would be hard to replicate. We actually agreed it was much more appetizing than the traditional cheesecake we used to eat. Overall the experience was okay with a couple of highlights. I really wanted to love it here but a few too many things fell short in my opinion. We would probably go elsewhere for the money (we spent over $30) or stick to strictly spring rolls and cheesecake. read more

This was a FANTASTIC experience. Recently new to a full blown whole food/plant based diet, we are desperate to educate ourselves on where to eat, how to cook, etc. Some friends recommended Loving Hut (they told us it's their favorite vegan experience in Cincinnati whenever they visit town) and it did not disappoint. Between the two of us, we got an order of dumplings, spring rolls, spicy sloppy joe, and pho. The sloppy joe was fantastic- I would recommend to herbivores and carnivores alike! The slaw and chips on the side were a good pairing. The pho was flavorful but I did end up needing to add the sauce it came with and a healthy dose of sriracha to kick it up. Additionally, pho usually comes piping hot and this was warm. That may be a side effect of low cooking temperatures, just a small adjustment to be prepared for. Both the dumplings and spring rolls were good- we both favored the spring rolls which had more filling. If the dumplings had a bit more stuffing, they would in the running for favorite with the spring rolls. We ended with carrot cake and cheesecake (we were determined to try as much as possible) and HIGHLY recommend both for a treat! Ambiance and price are also fantastic. I enjoyed the book shelf of books and we ended up pouring over the forks over knives cook book while we ate. The ice tea is complimentary when dining in, the products all fair trade and biodegradable, and the staff welcoming and hospitable. I can't say enough good things and I can't wait to go back! We agreed we will likely be back at least once a week until we get through the whole (extensive!) menu! So the Loving Hut is one of my favorite local finds. The Loving Hut is the perfect solution for when you are too lazy to make anything to eat...but want to eat healthy at the same time. Although the restaurant is small with "interesting" decor of random water fountains in the dining area. Service is quick (even for take out) and the staff is friendly. They have different daily specials for soups and wraps, but almost all of the items are under $8. On this occasion I got my favorite items, the Pho and spring rolls. If you haven't had their Pho, go and try it. It's delicious, with the perfect amount of heat to clear sinuses on those cold and gloomy days. The spring rolls are also delicious, but could be larger. They offer some fun treats and sweets along with smoothies that are also very good. Everything you eat on or out of is either reusable or recyclable, and they provide the necessary recycling containers including compost. You order at the counter, take a seat and they bring your food to you when it is ready. You bus your own table unless they happen to come around and do that for you. The decoration within the restaurant is made up of reclaimed items from local buildings. They follow a strict green philosophy, though it is not in your face if that bothers you. All of the positive things I have to say are similar to the many other reviews for this place, but overall the food here is fresh, healthy, and affordable all at the same time and I love that they fuse together unique flavors of different cultures (a lot of Asian influences) to make both eclectic and simple vegan dishes. The Loving Hut definitely changed my outlook on vegan and vegetarian food and they prove that you can still be healthy while having a satisfying and flavorful meal. I love to bring friends here when they visit me and they've all enjoyed it as well. My favorites here are the CK meal and the eggroll meal. Don't let the "fake meat" options scare you, they are delicious and the texture is pretty close to that of meat.The almond ginger salad dressing is amazing as well as the seasoned jasmine rice that reminds me of Vietnamese food from home. Also, the vegan chocolate cake.. OMG. It blew my mind how flavorful and moist it was for being vegan! Get that. I was having a bad day and decided to go on a mini adventure and treat myself to new, delicious food. I chose The Loving Hut because it had such a good reputation, even though it was a bit out of my way. I know everyone knows, but the relief of eating at a place that doesn't serve dairy when dairy makes you sick is such a relief. Being able to eat EVERYTHING on the menu is so cool. And I did want to eat it all. I ended up just getting a bowl of pumpkin chili which comes with chips and water. People make fun of everything pumpkin, but I think pumpkin is underrated as a real food. This chili was amazing. Spicy and hearty. Dense. I couldn't eat the whole bowl for lunch. The people who work there are so nice and gave me a lid to take it home. I also purchased a carrot cake and a cookie. I ate the rest of the chili for dinner. It reheated just perfectly. The carrot cake was amazing. That cream cheese icing... Ah. I even shared a bit of the cake with my dog. She liked it, too. The cookie I've yet to touch but I don't know how long I'll hold out. I'd been wanting to try The Loving Hut for a very long time, but had sort of been afraid because I'd heard that most of their dishes were based on fake meat...which I'm not a huge fan of. However, I am so glad that I did try them. My vegan friend and I went one night for dinner. She had been there before, but this was my first visit. They have a parking lot in the back, which I wouldn't have known about if she hadn't been driving (and been there before). The inside is a little run down looking and didn't look super clean. You order at the counter, choosing from the menu on the wall. They give you a number and you go sit down to wait for them to bring your food out. There's a larger dining area in the back. We went on a Thursday night and I was very surprised and impressed at how brisk business was. I was not impressed, however, by how long it took to get our food...I mean...it's not like anything was getting cooked. I ordered the raw vegan Reuben, which came with a salad. It was absolutely delicious. I was very impressed. I don't remember what my friend ordered for her main dish, but she did order a side of vegan mac and cheese, which I tried. Very tasty! On the way out, she suggested we get a cookie for dessert, but my eyes were drawn to the refrigerator case on the right...I was what looked like a chocolate cheese cake and a carrot cake...and...so many delicious looking desserts. She got a vegan cheesecake and I got whatever the chocolate looking creamy dessert was (it was super delicious...so who cares what it was really called.) I got a piece of the carrot cake to take home (it was good, but not as good as the chocolate dessert.) I honestly wasn't too sure what to expect from the Loving Hut, but I was duly impressed by the delicious food if somewhat unimpressed by the interior. I spent my college years (plus some) in a crunchy, hippy, often-vegan/veg focused town. Prior to that, I had never experienced the range of vegan fare-both good and abhorrent- out there. After living there I learned to really like some of the raw, whole, non-meat options out there and decided to give this joint a try. It's in a odd area for me, a bit difficult to find the real parking lot, but in the end I was in the area of the Loving Hut running some errands a few weeks ago and decided to have a vegan/veg throwback, and hopefully reenergize for the rest of my errands. Walking in, the environment was fine, but confusing. The menu is on the wall but busy (and I later learned it's also written in a pamphlet) and I had a hard time deciding on what I wanted. Then I saw these quotations on the walls as I waited for a confused 80 year old with her family, trying to explain the concept of a faux-meat sloppy joe. Given these messages and my previous experience, I was looking for the soulful hippy types (dreads, cords, etc). who might have decided on this decorating avenue. Looking around, all I saw was a hard working mix of folks, mostly Asian, none seeming too crunchy. I shook that expectation off and tuned back into the 80 year old orientation to faux meat, deciding that vegan Cincinnati is certainly entitled to being different than vegan-Eugene, OR. I ended up ordering the spring rolls and salad dish and a vegan sweet potato chili. I'm not one for too much fake meat or soy product, I was really just hoping for some solid, real food, and I wan't disappointed. The spring rolls rocked, the salad was fresh with great dressing, and the soup rounded it all out. I really liked my food. It was a good throw back to my college days and I left satisfied. What wasn't so satisfying was the decor. There is an Asian inspired theme in the lamps and lighting in the back, a pretty cool water fixture, and those darn sayings all over the place. In my reading, as I was eating alone, I learned from a brochure (and the TV's advertising this) that the Loving Hut is a franchise. I guess that explains the odd mix of decor, but it was still a bit strange. I, ultimately, don't go to restaurants for the decor- though it does play a role- so I'm happy give this place a good review. This place is great :) they make a conscious effort towards being environmentally friendly: biodegradable utensils and durable paper plates so that they can be recycled. The one thing that draws me to Loving Hut is the diversity in foods. Would you like a panini? Sure! Soup? Plenty! Noodles, raw food, veggie burgers, cookies... It hits the spot with whatever you may be craving. I've been in about 4 or 5 times. I've had times where I was wowed and times where I felt the food was simply alright. Yesterday I tried the butternut squash seasonal soup and it really was not good, sadly. Way to buttery or oily... The seitan panini however was quite tasty, and it was very filling on it's own! I'm also really a fan of all the sweet treats; cookies, carrot cake, cheesecakes, etc. It's really cool being able to walk into a place and not have to worry about milk, butter, meat, or eggs being hidden inside. Located in Pleasant Ridge about 10ish minutes from Kenwood Mall makes it not too busy but busy enough to know that people (especially those vegans!) enjoy coming here.
