Beef Fried Rice
Drake M.

Stopped here after dropping off a friend. I was immediately greeted by a nice lady who took my order of beef fried rice and beef egg foo young. It was still warm by the time I got home. Also, when I try new place I put them on some cute plates. Next time, paper plates. I loved beef fried rice. I had scallions and bean sprouts. Next time I will order extra. You can tell that the food has been kissed by the wok fire adding more flavor. The rice was good, add a splash of soy sauce and the flavor is amplified. It tasted almost buttery. The beef egg foo young was a little lighter in color than I'm use to, but the flavor and texture was fluffy and moist not dense and dry. I can't wait to try more things on the menu especially since they have lunch and dinner specials.

Super fast! Beef Chow Mein and Sweet & Sour delight (shrimp/pork/chicken)
Jackie M.

Did a Door Dash thing and ordered Chinese take out (maybe first time in a long time) and man, this place was FAST! I think my order was here in less than 30 minutes when I clicked. Portions are big, items are well packed. They kept the sauce and fried items separated. Standard chinese american food, kinda gloopy, but not overally salty.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It didn't come out like I expected but it wasn't bad. Small container of rice, big ass container of sauce, & the chicken looked ok but I thought it would come glazed. $13+ for pretty standard food. I should've gotten the lunch special but I thought because it was a large, it would be a lot of food

FOOD TASTES AWFUL WITH BURNT SMELL AND TOP OF IT I ALSO GOT A PASTIC COVER FROM THE FOOD....

Modern Chinese Cook Book…read more.. Just in case you're wondering what it stands for and no I had no idea but did notice a cookbook in the restaurant but still didn't put two and two together. This Chinese restaurant is located on the ground floor in Chinatown and from the outside you have no idea what they have to offer even as you enter this cozy spot dishes out some serious bites. Menu takes a moment to figure out as they have dishes but are able to serve it with various sauces/or protein and does have indications of the spiciness level which surely helps in the decision making and be mindful as it all are served family style. My very first meal in Chicago I was ready for anything and the first impression was impressive for me personally as everything came out fast and hot and done right along with lovely presentation a quick pic was all it took as we were hungry. - Sour Pickle and Fish Fillet Soup It had the numbing sauce which I didn't understand and was afraid until I tried it and actually loved it the sour picked paired perfectly and that numbing soup was just that lol but wasn't spicy just left literally an impression on my palate - Chicken Egg Roll was just that very crispy and delicious though the presentation was unique as it came with a bowl of sauce packets - Cheng Du Spicy Wonton was probably one of my favorite simple but full of flavor drenched with sauce as it had a kick but not too spicy - American Broccoli with Flank Steak the classic that was good veggies done just right and tender meat - Eggplant Spicy Garlic Sauce was another favorite though I love eggplant it was tender and saucy that was a tad salty but gave it a good kick - Cold Noodle with Sesame Sauce was the last that we ordered so I was already getting filled up but it was nice and light that did accent and balance out the rest of the meal. Service is very nice and friendly especially with all of our questions since it was our first time and didn't disappoint and can see why there's always a wait and yes it's worth it if you're ever in Chinatown. Thank you!

MCCB's is one of Chinatown's most popular restaurants and I can see why…read more Pros: The food is very good. My favorite items are the orange chicken, garlic green beans and their dumplings. Although orange chicken is relatively basic, there's isn't! It's crispy, orangey and savory. The best I've had. Their green beans, easily rival din tai fung's and their dumpling super good as well. A great broth, bouncy chewy wrapper, and super flavorful filling! The restaurant itself is cute & service is pretty decent, as well. Cons: Their crispy chili chicken wasn't my favorite, but I'm not the biggest fan of Szechuan chilies or dark meat. There was also a tang in the after taste of the chicken that I didn't love, but it was fresh and the crisp was really nice! There's also almost always a wait and the place and tables are pretty small, so if you're like me and like to order a lot of things, you may have trouble fitting things.

As soon as you open the door, the smell of delicious food hypnotizes you. It's really hard to…read moredecide what to order because everything looks so good! For starters, we tried the Deep-Fried Pork Belly. It had a crunchy exterior with a dusting of chili powder, while the meat was incredibly tender. It came with a sweet chili dipping sauce that balanced the heat of the chili powder perfectly. I don't have much tolerance for spicy food, but I kept going back for "just one more bite." It was that addictive! For the main course, we tried the Mongolian Beef paired with Egg Fried Rice. The beef was so tender it practically melted in your mouth, and the vegetables had a nice bite to them--the perfect combination. The egg fried rice had just the right amount of garlic and egg, and it paired beautifully with the beef. I can't forget to mention the service. I felt like I was at my auntie's house--warm, welcoming, and genuinely cared for.

However the 30+ min wait for the veggie orders came after the entire meal when every thing was ordered at the same time, they somewhat rushed us at the end so they can sit their regulars, and the steamy soup dumplings were small and stuck to the paper wrapping and not served w the traditional ginger. The seating and place was clean- I just be prepared to wait and skip on the dumplings since it wasn't the best quality.

We ordered like the PERFECT amount of food and best variety. Roast duck: I honestly don't know if I've ever had duck before, but I'm a duck believer now. The skin on theirs was the perfect crispy shatter texture and the duck was sooooo juicy! I don't know why I was always so worried about it being gamey. They give you fluffy steamed bao buns, a sauce, and scallions on the side as well as duck fried rice! Turnip cake: Obviously a must any time I come to dim sum. I've never seen turnip in any other form than this. Japanese salt & pepper tofu: My FAVORITE dish ever. Any fried salt & pepper tofu always makes me happy. They use a creamy egg-like tofu and the outside is lightly crispy with amazing aromatics stir fried in. Steamed white rice on the side is perfect with this. Loved everything else my dinner buds picked and we were super full by the end! Service was good and food came out fast and scorching hot! ***Parking in the area is treacherous (not the restaurants fault, but reconsider driving if possible bc cell signal can be zero to none around the garages if you get lucky) ***Their website allows you to request a reservation as long as it's 3 hours before your desired time. We came on a Saturday evening around dinner time and there was plenty of room for us to get a table immediately as walk-ins!

The good stuff is the soy sauce noodles, shumai, congee, shrimp rice rolls. The bad are the hargow and the shrimp and chives dumplings. This place does not appear to grasp the texture of these two dishes. The wrappers keep coming off for these. Lastly, the service and communication is bad here. On my last day I wanted to get some to go food here. It took more than 50 minutes from order via phone to gettin the food. After waiting more than half an hour at restaurant I decided to ask them why it's taking so long and they said because of some baked egg tarts they didn't make yet. I asked how much longer it would take and they refused to tell me. Almost missed my flight because of this. Every time I came up to ask, they tell me a new item they are waiting for. I even asked if I can swap out for something they already have but no response and no timing update. I wish management would step in and at least offer some solution so I can be on my way. Hopefully they'll fix this in the future.
