Visiting from out of town- sat at the bar top with a friend. Bartenders were so friendly and offered amazing service and hospitality! Drinks and food were delicious and the bar was a great social place. Would love to visit again.

Spicy Mango Marg

Visiting Seattle for the evening before heading to Alaska and this place was just a stone's throw from my hotel. Plenty seating for small parties or large groups. I ordered the Trophy Burger, Spicy Mango Marg, and the Beautiful Drink. All were a hit! We waited a little while for our server when we were first sat down. Apparently he had gone on break and nobody was aware that he was, but once people came around the service was pretty spot on. Would recommend!

After much research on Yelp the people voted and we went with the happy hour menu here. Shawn was our guy and he was amazing. We shared a Smash burger with a side of fries and wings with southern Cajun seasoning. The burger was delicious. I'm a burger lover and enjoy a classic grassfed medium rare with extra lettuce. Well this was a smash burger and it hit all the marks. Parking was limited and took time to find.

I love Local! I think the food is really good but I feel like the service can be hit or miss here. I love their extensive menu and diversity in the menu and drinks. A great place to watch games! I also love that during brunch they serve both lunch and brunch menus

Food - I got the dutch baby which was good. But I had some of my husband's hash and the potatoes were amazing. They were little squares of thinly sliced and layered potatoes that were crispy and salted perfectly. I will try the recreate these potatoes at home but I'll prob fail. Service - we had a large party and they handled our orders great. Everything came out quickly and they checked in on us. Ambiance - tons of seating. They have an upstairs area as well as a separate bar area. Tvs everywhere. And they play music videos which I miss.

Nachos

I'll start with the good! Came to Local with some friends after an event in SLU. The drinks were pretty good, especially the skinny mango marg. The nachos were tasty too and they accommodated the vegetarians by putting the beef on the side. It was Friday around 9pm and wasn't too crowded. It took a while to get a table, so I asked the front if we could sit at the bar and they said no. We were eventually seated in the far back away from other parties when there were open tables in the bar area which was a bummer (again, Friday night - would've preferred some liveliness). Our server took a long time to come by throughout the night, like at least 20-30 minutes between, so we only got one round of drinks over 2 hours. Overall a mediocre experience, but maybe we just went on an off-night.

Beermosa with guava

My first stop once I arrived to Seattle and I wanted to whine down. I walked over to this restaurant/bar and instantly fell in love with the vibes! Locals were friendly and approachable. My bartender was very helpful and even gave recs for my nachos. I tried a beermosa made with guava and it was so refreshing! Just what I needed after a flight. My nachos were also good but I wish it had a little more pork meat. Otherwise, great flavors, toppings and generous portion served. This can be shared for sure. Pay them a visit next time you are near by.

This place was busy when we got there at 530p. Our group was able to get a booth in the bar area so it was a little bit loud but we had a great waitress. When the water arrived our glasses were dirty and there was a lot of floaties. We asked for a new glasses and the glasses that were provided were also dirty. I ordered the fish tacos that came with two deep fried fish tacos on fresh cabbage and a delicious pico de gallo. Also it had a side of french fries that were a little underdone and they charged a dollar for a side of tartar sauce. The fish tacos were delicious. They were fresh, flaky, and the Pico was the magic ingredient. Highly recommend. The french fries however were underdone so they were dense and firm but had great seasoning. With tip, the plate was $27.50

Cute restaurant, service was great and ambiance was nice. Food was good but more on the expensive side for some of the portions given. Overall I would definitely come back. Shrimp dumplings were AMAZING

Walked here as SlU Block Party didn't have many food options. Friendly server. Ordered the Peanut Satay Noodle Salad $23 and Blackened chicken curry bowl $24. A bit overpriced for the portion that you get but the food was tasty. A bit loud that we had to kinda raise our voices but otherwise all good. Solid 3.5

This is a good spot in south lake Union to get a drink or food. I'd describe it as a "fun" atmosphere and a decent gathering spot. Typical menu which provides many options as well as some signature drinks. I've been to this location 3x and feel a mixed bag on the waitstaff. Usually good, upbeat service though.

Pearl Couscous Salad with Blackened Chicken

Solid 3.5 for food and 5 for service. Conveniently located LPE is a great spot to catch a quick lunch while at work. I personally didn't like how tangy my couscous salad was, but I appreciated the freshness of ingredients. Next time around I'll probably go for the ramen my colleague ordered that looked delicious! The ambiance is pretty bare bones but good if one would like to schedule a work lunch. I'll likely have to be back coz I often stop by the building next door for work.

The local burger and fries. Sooo good
Kristin L.

The food is truly delicious. The steak and dumplings *chefs kiss. The local Burger was perfectly seasoned and gooey in just the right way. And the apple pie cobbler was so good we had it first and we're glad we did. The drinks were also perfectly crafted but the real icing on the cake was Tina our server! Attentive and kind and steered us in the right direction. We highly recommend Local! *Ask for Tina!

However, I was disappointed with the scallops as it tasted raw and cool to the touch in the center. Every custom flight is tailored to your specific taste and price point which I love. Hannah, one of their whiskey curators, is super knowledgeable and created one of the most memorable bourbon flights I've ever had with super rare allocated stuff. The service here is extremely friendly. I was speaking with Hannah about what I wanted in my flight and shared my wish list. Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

Bread and butter, bread crust is over cooked and supper dry. Butter dip : the garlic had burned flavor and the vinegar in it was a bit too unpleasant. Pork belly very under cook and chewy. Clam was okay. Water: I took a sip of my cup and instantly spit it back into the cup, taste like fishy or eggy or disgusting unwashed cup ... Main dishes: supper disappointing steak , supper chewy , not pleasant experience at all for a $200+ single order Pork chop, the sauce was interesting but it was also very chewy and nothing special. We spend over $340 and if it was as low as $20 we would never go back and try it again. I strongly recommend you to not go there for food. Happy hour is daily 4-6pm but all day Monday, bar seating area only. Plenty of seating, plenty of parking in an unpaved lot, or accessible by the 5 bus. The menu uses a lot of strong ingredients that sound like it would turn away picky eaters - blue cheese, anchovies, balsamic, pickles, etc, and I frankly don't like blue cheese, but all the ingredients they use, they do it well. Just order and don't think too much about the specific ingredients, or be open-minded! I got the Butcher Burger which is soooo flavorful - I love the caramelized onions and how juicy the patty is. I also got the Fistful of Dollars cocktail which was also $12 - gin, basil, Chareau aloe, lime. This was so smooth to drink and looks elegant. Service is great - the bartender checked up on me a few times and proactively refilled my water, making sure my water is almost always full. If you want to make a visit for the burger, definitely recommend going on the earlier side because it is limited quantity. Even though it is 1 per guest per visit, still go early. I was there and of the 5 parties that got seated, I think almost everyone each got the burger, so definitely a hot item!!!

We booked a table in advance to catch an early bite, but the Happy Hour menu looked so good that we decided to sit at the bar instead. We ordered the Tuna Tartare, Clams, Pork Ribs, Grilled Eggplant, and Fennel Pickles from the Happy Hour menu, plus the Roasted Olives with extra Sourdough Bread from the main menu. Honestly, every single dish was delicious. The absolute highlights for me were the olives, tuna, pickles, and the sourdough! Here's a quick breakdown of what we had: Sourdough & Herb Butter: Absolute perfection. Crisp on the outside, chewy and moist on the inside. The herb butter was heavenly! Roasted Olives: The ultimate cocktail pairing. Tuna Tartare: The addition of cucumber made it taste so fresh and vibrant. Fennel Pickles: So addicting--I'm still thinking about them! Pork Ribs: Loved the Gochujang (Korean chili paste) sauce, which felt familiar and comforting. The flavor was great, though it had a slight pork aroma that might appeal more to those who enjoy a richer meat flavor. The cocktails were fantastic across the board. Now I completely understand why this place was constantly packed--unbeatable prices, top-tier food quality, and excellent service. Finding great food always sets the mood for a perfect day, and this place definitely made my day!

Our server was also very pleasant and attentive throughout the evening. Overall, a good 4-star experience.

Alder & Ash -- Beautiful Food, Disappointing Service…read more I visited Alder & Ash on Saturday, October 24, for its $65 three-course Seattle Restaurant Week dinner. I arrived early, sat in the lounge, then moved to the main dining room. The restaurant is beautiful, but despite some excellent food, the service made me feel rushed and overlooked as a solo diner. ATMOSPHERE The lounge has comfortable seating, warm lighting, and an attractive bar. The dining room is equally impressive, with elegant lighting, tasteful décor, and inviting tables. I brought a book, hoping for a leisurely evening. As the lounge filled, conversations grew loud; later, the dining room's background music was turned up considerably. I didn't read a single page. FOOD Herb and Salt Fries ($10): Served hot and crispy, with attractive presentation, but the flavor was ordinary. I tasted the salt, not the herbs. Frankly, I prefer Wendy's fries. At $10, I expected more. Classic Caesar Salad: Fresh, crisp lettuce and a generous amount of Parmigiano Reggiano, with just the right overall flavor. The croutons were crispy but lacked the advertised herb taste. I would have liked freshly ground black pepper to balance the cheese, but unlike neighboring tables, mine had no pepper grinder. Oven Roasted Salmon: Beautifully presented and seasoned, with a nicely browned crust. Unfortunately, the fish beneath it was somewhat mushy. The herb salad, however, was exceptional: refreshing, beautifully textured, and full of flavor. The herbs spoke both loudly and delicately, wonderfully complementing the salmon. The yogurt-dill sauce offered a delicious contrast. Yet too many strong flavors competed for attention. The farro's flavor disappeared under the sauce, while the braised greens contributed texture without much discernible taste. Excellent components, not always a balanced whole. Sorbet: Simple, attractive presentation and a crisp, clean taste with a smooth, refreshing finish. A lovely end to the meal. SERVICE -- THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT My server rarely stopped to give my table her full attention. Most exchanges happened as she passed by on her way to another guest. The lounge attendant was pleasant once she realized I was seated, so this wasn't a universal problem with the staff. However, the dining room service was a very different experience. Her check-in about my Caesar salad came approximately one minute before I finished it--far too late to make asking for the missing pepper worthwhile. More troubling, while I was eating my entrée, she reached across my place setting and started taking my plate as she asked whether I was finished, before I had even put down my utensils. That felt intrusive and rushed. The dessert menu said "Ice Cream and Sorbet," which reasonably suggests both. Yet the server explained that guests must choose ice cream OR sorbet. The Restaurant Week listing elsewhere used "or," making the printed menu confusing. The clarification itself was fine; her manner seemed put off by my question. She wasn't overtly rude, but she didn't feel especially welcoming. She became noticeably more polite at the end, but by then the experience had already been affected. Above all, I felt like a third wheel. I cannot know whether my server disliked having a one-person table, but that's the impression her behavior gave me. Dining alone should not mean receiving less attention. The dinner also felt hurried compared with my previous Saturday outing; I was nearly done with three courses in roughly 75 minutes. Efficient service is good. Feeling pushed through a meal isn't. PRICE AND VALUE The Restaurant Week dinner cost $65, plus $10 fries and a $4 soda: $79 before fees. With a $3.16 surcharge and $8.67 tax, my bill was $90.83. I left a $16 cash tip, bringing my total to $106.83. I don't expect perfection for that price, but I do expect attentive, courteous service and time to enjoy my dinner. MANAGEMENT RESPONSE After paying, I spoke with Kendall, the manager. She was polite, professional, and receptive. She accepted my criticism and thanked me for providing it. I explained I wasn't seeking a free meal, discount, or compensation; I wanted to encourage the restaurant to strive for excellence. Kendall acknowledged the issues and expressed a desire for an opportunity in the future to address and correct them. I appreciated her response, even though it doesn't erase the experience. FINAL THOUGHTS Alder & Ash has real potential. Its setting is lovely, and I genuinely enjoyed the Caesar salad, the salmon's seasoning, the exceptional herb salad, and the sorbet. But the overall dining experience was diminished by inconsistent and hurried service. Good food deserves equally good service. Unfortunately, on this visit, Alder & Ash delivered one without the other.

The potatoes were not my vibe personally - while I like dijon/grey mustard, there was quite a bit on these. I'm also not a potato person. The BEST part was definitely the mushroom agnolotti - it reminded me of a dish i got at a capital hill restaurant, Cornelly's. The sauce was incredible and salty, the filling was delish. My only thing was that the dried mushrooms on top were a little big and dry for me, that being said, i'd still get this again! I think the aesthetic of this place was great, behind us was a table of girlfriends celebrating something, and I just think girls brunch or small bridal celebration of sorts would be so cute here.
