Was finally able to stop in to the Loaded Cafe - Long Beach on a Friday morning for breakfast. It was decently good, with the food taste/quality being mixed, but having great service with solid value on some items. Loaded Cafe (and its sister bakery Panecito) has over 10 locations around Los Angeles and Orange County. It's a breakfast and brunch spot, mixing classic diner food with Mexican favorites. This location is the original, opened in 2012 in what used to be an IHOP. It is known for serving fresh conchas as a complementary starter (rather than chips n salsa). They frequently have credit card offers, giving back a percentage if activated. In our case, it turned out to be via Citi for 5% back (on top of the normal percentage for dining). My wife and I had stopped into this location previously last year, but found the lines and parking to be very full due to its popularity, letting us choose a different place. So this time, when we found we had an early errand to run on a Friday, we stopped by around 8am (around an hour after opening). This time parking was easy, and we were seated in a window booth. Only one server was working the front, so assuming that this was normal busyness. She did mention that the previous day (New Years Day) had been extremely busy. I was just grateful that there was no wait. Our server, Martha, was communicative throughout, apologizing for some delays (which we felt was normal considering her responsibilities). She brought us the 3 rolls, each served warm and frosted with a sugary spread. They were very good. My mother-in-law got the 2 Stack Buttermilk Pancakes ($4.99), which she really liked. One can get the AYCE deal for $5.99, but 2 was plenty for her. She also got tea, which was some hot water in a cup with a Lipton tea bag...was surprised how much that was ($4.29). My wife got Mini Crepe Combo ($12.99), which came with two eggs and a side of bacon. The crepes were OK, and the bacon was the cheap variety (very thin, would be OK with a burger or in a buffet). The eggs were ordered scrambled hard. Since I was the one who wanted to come here, I wanted something that was different from a typical diner experience but still breakfast. Crunchy Asada Chilaquile Steak ($22.99) was my choice, and it came with a side of hash browns. I loved the tortilla chips, each coated wth a mild sauce and the scrambled eggs together were a great combo. But the protein asada steak was not good...tasted old, clearly from either prepared frozen strips or too long marinated (I've had similar meat at huge menu restaurants that have fajitas on the menu, but don't really use the meat for anything else). Should have gone with the chicken strips (significantly cheaper and is a lot better from frozen). I'm one of those that actually prefers hash browns from a box in most cases (it can end up much more crunchy and not soggy), and they prepared really well here...with a very crispy outside. It would be a good base for any hash dish. Each table had a large selection of condiments, including 3 different types of hot sauces (all with habanero, which is too hot for me), and Sriracha hot chili sauce (nod to where this was located near Cambodia Town). I was politely declined when I asked for any salsa, instead routed towards the hot sauces. Our server was great throughout, with payment tableside, and we were in/out well under an hour. The food quality/value was OK but the service was great, so decided to just split the rating down the middle. A decent place to go if in the area and hungry, but definitely a lot more favorite diner spots in Long Beach that we would go to first.

Came here in a work ditch day. First of all they serve you a fresh mini concha to start off with. It was honestly one of the best I've had! It was warm, soft, moist, and loved the taste of cinnamon. We ordered the strawberry cheesecake pancakes and made it a combo. As well as the asada chilaquiles. Everything tasted really good! I loved the taste of the chilaquiles sauce. It was cheesy and almost had a chili taste to it. My scrambled eggs were very tender and cooked perfectly. Not dry at all. I definitely would come back soon!

Loaded Cafe is definitely one of my favorite breakfast diners in Long Beach. My favorite thing on the menu that I've tried is the loaded steak and eggs. The strawberry waffles are also really yummy. They also give you a side of Pan Dulce to start your meal which is a nice little bonus. Only downside is it does get busy here so there may be a wait, but they are usually still decently quick even when they are busy. The last time I came here it was raining outside and we got seated by the window which made it feel nice and cozy inside. They have a very extensive menu which can be a little overwhelming, but I would definitely like to come back and try more of their menu items in the future.

I have been hearing great things about Loaded Cafes, there are several around now. I was finally near our Long Beach location early enough for breakfast. I came in right after they opened (weekday)! The server even brewed a fresh pot of Decaf for me! I ordered the Original Breakfast that came with two sausage links (or bacon), two eggs, and two pancakes. The menu is huge with a lot of options. Definitely plan to take my family here. I am sure this place gets packed on the weekends, so suggest coming early! Parking - there is a good size lot behind the restaurant, and even the streets around it seem to have ample parking as well. Again, I sure the parking is more challenging on a weekend day. Service was excellent. My server was Martha.

They had a special for original breakfast for $5.75. (Instagram has it & we have to show it when you order to get the special price). Two pancakes, two eggs & two bacon/sausage/or ham. They give you a free concheta per person. Service was quick & friendly. Felt cozy & neighborly inside. There were families eating together as well as two tables with solo diners. I liked that they had a variety of people with varying numbers of people dining in. My friend liked the green hot sauce they had on the table and was able to purchase one bottle of it for $4. The pancakes were buttery and fluffy. Didn't need extra butter. Eggs were cooked exactly how we asked for. After we had our breakfast, my friend decided to pick up three different orders of breakfast to go for her family. They have 7 locations with two more on the way. We will definitely go back, either to this location or to one of their sister locations. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff & a parking lot (that's big in LB).

Never been here but I wanted breakfast. I noticed it's a chain restaurant so I decided to give it a try. The neighbor is sketchy, especially with the motel Nextdoor with sketchy people around it. Inside is like a mini Denys/ ihop. The music was good and the restroom was clean and big. I didn't know it was a Mexican spot till I looked at the food on the menu. It's definitely popular with the Mexican crowd. I'm Hispanic but not Mexican. What I order was all delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and the staff were nice. I took one star off because it took 30 minutes to get my food. It wasn't even busy when I ordered so I don't know what was the huge hold up. It started to get packed when my food finally showed up. I was planning to come back for Mother's Day but decided not to go because I would have to be there early to beat the rush and I didn't want to wait for 30 minutes for my food. I will definitely go back if I'm not in a rush to be somewhere and in the neighborhood

Trying out this place for the first time. I am impressed with their menu, they have soo many options to choose from. When we sta down they gave us complimentary conchas. Conchas are soo good, and they come warm. Coffe flight is interesting you can try different flavors horchata, caramel, and chocolate. Chocolate is my fav. Good customer service.

We went here for breakfast for the first time after passing by it numerous times. It was quiet when we visited, but the service was ready for us. We got menus, and the one in hand was a bit dirty. They were kind to bring us out some Mexican bread, which my girlfriend enjoyed. Nonetheless, I marched along and choose the steak and eggs with onions and mushrooms. My girlfriend talked about trying their pancakes, so I withdrew from getting roast. The plate I chose was really good. Eggs made right, steak cooked and seasoned well. The hash browns reminded me of ihop and dennys visually, but they were perfectly crispy and tasted so damn good. Turns out a lot of talk about their hash browns speaks volumes. They had a lot of sweet desserts on the menu, but I will definitely try their churro flavored dishes next time I come in. They have a lot of sweets to choose from that you can take home, so next time you come in. Choose wisely.

The loaded steak and eggs was as good as I remembered it. My dining companion thought it was good and stole a few bites of mine. I tried their chicken guacamole stacker. The pancake was good and they gave us a concha and some type of cookie as a house freebie. The menu definitely changed from last time I was here and they have a lot of treats on the menu. Staff was nice food wasn't expensive and came out quickly Nice spot for a brunch date with loved ones and friends Worth a stop if in Long Beach

Conchas

OMG! What a find. My family and I had moved out of state and came back to visit. Needed a bite to eat before going to Universal studios. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Before they take your order you are given some mini conchas. We all ordered the Basic Combo which came with 2 eggs, meat, hash browns and 2 large pancakes. I could of been fine with just the conchas and coffee. Would definitely recommend.

It's been a while since coming here! Their menu is great! Went here after Mass for breakfast and they had people dressed up for Dia de Los Muertos where you can take a photo with them! That was fun! Good food and good experience! [11.01.25]

I came here on a Thursday afternoon. I wasn't really hungry however I did try a few things that my party had ordered. As a free appetizer they give you complementary mini conchas. And they're warm! They were delicious. I had the taquitos. I wasn't a fan, but I do like the fresh lettuce that they put on top with the fresh queso. I tried the French toast, those were really good. The shredded potato hashbrowns were pretty bland. Bacon and eggs were good. They have so many options. I will definitely come back because they have crêpes and my son is a huge fan of crêpes. They have so many options with toppings for pancakes, waffles French toast, and crêpes. They have differences or options in the front as well. I wish I would have taken a picture. They sell it by the slice for only five dollars. For me that is a great deal. They look so good! I will be going back. Funny parking, staff was friendly. Not that it matters but This looks like it was probably an old IHOP.

Coffee and large dispenser of hibiscus and strawberry drink. A whole gallon.

Tell me to meet you somewhere and I'll be there. Simple as that and less stress for me. Anyways, that's how we ended up at this place. Trying to find happy hour with food in the area was somewhat a challenge. Either they were finishing up or it wasn't that interesting on the menu. Of course some places offered amazing drink deals but no food. We ended up here actually across the street still looking up for places but the rooftop patio was what caught our attention. The restaurant itself looked bare as there was no one inside. Still on the early side but noticing people going in and then heading up stairs. After a few debates on here and there, we gave up and found our way here. Checked in with the host, letting him know that we just wanted happy hour upstairs. It was about two flights of stairs which the place looked quite industrial with all the metal beams and stairs. Downstairs was beautiful but completely emptied. Everyone wanted to utilize the rooftop patio as it was beautiful out. We were greeted by someone which mentioned to us that any bar seating was available. There was a section towards the back that was pretty lively. I think it was booked for a group. Instead of the bar area, we asked to sit along the rooftop counter that looks out to the street and building across the street. Way better view and perfect way to spend the afternoon hours. Staff were all pretty sweet and very friendly. Whatever we needed they were they to help. Both the regular menu and happy hour menu were quite impressive. As we just wanted HH, it was given. They had drink special for 10.00 and small bites for 10.00 as well. Didn't hesitate and started off with some drinks. The red sangria with mixed fruits was a nice clean and refreshing treat. Tasteful without that aftertaste. And the Le Pistolet Fumant, a delectable tasty drink with mezcal with a hint of pineapple. And other well drink that was perfect for a nice afternoon. HH drink special was quite tasty to start off. Food wise, started off with an order of the Caesar salad, simple but delicious. Fresh crisp Romaine lettuce and slices of Parmesan and crouton bits. Nice crunch with each bite. The dressing, wow pretty tasty. And an order of the Mac and Cheese . Most places it's either a hit or a miss and let me say it was a HIT. Quite cheesy and full of flavors that a second order was had. A dish I do recommend for HH. We also had an order of the Brussels sprouts which was excellent. A nice glaze and crunchy with chunks of house cured pancetta. Nice big chunks I must say. Lastly the beef sliders with Wagyu beef patties. Honestly, this was the least favorite of the dishes we got. You would think it sounded great but it was quite tasteless and nothing major to report on. Served with brioche bun and shredded lettuce and tomatoes and a lemon aioli. I had high hope for it when I saw the group next to us order it but it was a little disappointing. Overall, the Mac and cheese, Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts were all hits. The sliders, disappointing. Other items on HH didn't look too ingesting for us but it was for other people. The rooftop lounge and bar area was the place to be when we were there. It picked up real fast after we got seated. Picnic style tables being occupied by large groups before HH ended. Just the rooftop alone was great and beautiful. It a place that's good for a drink and meal with friends. Downstairs was beautiful but seemed more of an intimate experience. Overall, it was a great choice for a meal during HH.

Bristy, our server, thoroughly explained the details of certain dishes such as the Mac & Cheetos. She also checked in on our table throughout the meal and came around often to refill our water. As for the food itself, it was very delicious. My favorite dish was the artichokes. They had a somewhat smoky flavor and the outermost leaves were crunchy and a nice contrast to the soft inside of the artichokes. They were also served in a tangy sauce that complimented the vegetable well. My friend's favorite item was the macaroni and cheese. It was chewy and creamy, and the pasta, which Bristy informed us was made in-house, was what my friend thought elevated the dish because it was a nice texture. We additionally ordered the gumbo which was also tasty but not as yummy as the other two dishes that we ordered. It is not a spicy dish if one is concerned about spice level. As for the ambiance of the restaurant, we enjoyed how the atmosphere felt casual and almost like you were sitting in somebody's house (the wallpaper and interior design is pretty) while still maintaining an elegant aesthetic design. There is inside seating what looks like a converted house? There is outside seating at tables or at the bar. The menu was interesting which had a theme of shrimp; there was eggs Benedict with shrimp, but not an item to order a regular one without it? Sure maybe could have ordered and asked without shrimp but pay the same price? Pass. Ok when I called they mentioned they serve brunch until 3? 3:30 I can't remember. The server mentioned they serve the brunch all day? Either way when I got to ordering this month on the menu it highlighted the shrimp po boy. I tried to order and nope, out. How can you be out of the item highlighted as the special in the middle of the day? When the place is not packed? I tried to order the lobster roll and again, out. I was tempted to order their short rib poutine since in theory it sounded good, but at this point I tried something simple I would hope they have in the kitchen chicken and waffles. The plate came and it looks good. If you look at the picture at the bottom of the chicken you can see a dark something. As I lift my chicken I found a huge burnt piece of breading pictured next. On top of the chicken is green onion I think? Who eats that with chicken and waffles? If I am wrong, a garnish is totally unnecessary for this dish. The chicken was moist. There are spices in the flour breading I can see but hard to taste what it is. The waffle is a hard pass for me. The waffle was crispy which is good, but also thin and dry and I couldn't taste any sweetness until I put maple syrup on it. The syrup came out warm which was nice. It's clear watching the people at the bar this is a local hangout. The chicken and waffles were $19 which if I was in the bay I think it's about right, but I think a little high considering the level of food I got. Supposedly this place is packed specifically on Sundays. The server doesn't know why? I'm not interested to even try to come back for a second chance and just be told sold out of the menu.

My wife and I had an excellent Sunday brunch experience here. We sat in their shaded patio and…read morelistened to the duet jazz band sipping cocktails and eating delicious food. I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. Perfect service, relaxing atmosphere, and delicious food will definitely have me returning very soon! Parking is free for 2 hours at the nearby garage on 3rd and is a very short walk. The closer garage on Broadway is not free. You can make restaurant reservations on their website but it wasn't needed when we went.

I am here to review The Miracle pop-up at The Ordinarie, that's how late my Yelp reviews are coming…read morein. Sorry!! TLDR; It's expensive, and not worth the routine visit, but worth the one-time stop in to experience the festivities. The Miracle pop-up at The Ordinarie is somehow even more decorated and extravagant than you'd expect from a seasonal pop-up. The line looks long outside, as there are no reservations, but it moves quickly since they hold everybody to a pretty strict 2-hour time limit. The drinks are good, the cups are cute, and everyone is festive. It's an all-around fun experience.  I think because of this, you do pay a premium price tag for food and drinks that are just good or okay. I think it's something that is worth the visit if you've never been and you enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit. I think that outside of the pop-up, The Ordinarie is a fun spot to check out in Long Beach. It't not a pillar of the food scene if you're a tourist, but it is a good, late night spot if you work in the industry nearby. They have a great late-night menu with a killer smash burger.
