Half of a Down on the Farm burger, sweet potato chips and mozzarella sticks.
    Sherri H.

Recently (in 2025) the former Haystacks Burger & Barley has changed its name to Little Stack. Same location but totally different (much smaller) menu. Sadly, Little Stack just doesn't stack up! Haystacks is one of my favorite burger places. Apparently this location is the only one to change and thank goodness. I will be frequenting the other Haystacks Burger & Barley locations but no longer need to visit Little Stack. The food was not good. I ordered two of the #1 burgers along with the skinny fries and cheezy balls. My favorite burger was Down on the Farm. I asked if the #1 was the same. The girl taking my order said it was but a bit smaller. Try A LOT smaller! So the burgers shrunk in size for I think what was the previous price. Did they think we wouldn't notice? My son often joins us for lunch on Fridays and Haystacks is one of our and his favorites. After the meal I picked up, he finished eating and said "thanks for the snack!" The fries were so salty, even hubby who loves salt said these are inedible. It's like they were salted and someone else didn't know they were and salted them again. The previous mozzarella sticks were so delicious, these cheezy balls are not. And they revamped the decor but it didn't need to be updated! I loved the previous animals on the wall. This is a case of leaving well enough alone. Bring back the previous decor and menu or I'm afraid this new revamped concept will shut this restaurant down. Maybe since it's located next to Alamo Drafthouse they thought they needed smaller menu items, since moviegoers will want popcorn at the movies. Sadly, for the price and taste of this food I just picked up for lunch on Friday, I won't be back.

Notice: All of these other reviews and pictures are for Haystack, not Little Stack. I contacted Yelp, but they have not fixed it yet. It's not Haystack anymore, but it's still great. I think the fries are better...stringier type, but same quality? The #2 was great, the #3 was very heavy on the mustard, the chicken tenders needed a dip like ranch or BBQ. I forgot to ask for medium rare on the burgers, but they weren't too dry and I am pretty picky. If you are here wondering what happened to Haystack, the other location is on Arapaho just West of Hillcrest. The hours aren't showing on here, but they are open everyday from 10:30 am to 8:30 pm.

This homemade fried cheese never disappoints. There is no other place in DFW that comes close. Other restaurants typically buy a bag of frozen mozzarella sticks, not Haystack. It came out in three minutes. They give out ranch and marina for dipping. I liked the ranch better. I will keep coming here.

Came here for lunch with my coworker and we had a good experience. Parking was easy, ordering quick, and ample amount of seating. I ordered the Down on the Farm turkey burger with no mustard and it was very juicy and tasty! The side of fries I ordered to accompany the burger was crispy and fried perfectly (the sides do come separately). Overall, nice burger experience and I will come back.

Great burger!! I was surprised at the quality. Burger patty tasted delicious. The bun was soft and tasty. It was cooked very well. Excellent

I went yesterday and tried the Patty Melt and half-and-half French fries and fried pickles. It was really good, though a bit expensive. The burger was seasoned well. At the recommendation of the cashier, I went with it cooked medium. I definitely wouldn't do that again as it was a little too raw for my liking, but it was good. The fries were tasty and the fried pickles were my fave! I'm excited to return and try another well-done burger and alllll the fried pickles.

The quality of the meat of the burger appeared to be decent, but the burger was seriously undercooked and heavily salted. It was Salted to the point where it was nearly inedible. The pudding was a fail. The actual pudding itself tasted fine and the bananas were the correct ripeness, but the vanilla wafers were put in at the very end, as opposed to having some time in the pudding to soften up so they were hard. The presentation was unique, but didn't add to the experience or the product. I would have preferred to have less product, but served in a smaller container, that was prepared better. I got the Ruben. For the price there wasn't a lot of meat particular when you compare it to competitors. The quality of the meat was OK but not stunning. It was kind of an also ran. I did like the bread was toasted and the combination Was good but not great. For the price, I was looking for something with a lot more wow. Either flavor or quality. Overall we were just disappointed. The fries and haystack onions were very very salty. The burger was extremely salty. Nothing really stood out as being a reason to come back. We were very much looking forward to this, but I don't think we're going to return.

We've been to other RG locations and this was similar to those. It wasn't overly busy, so we were promptly helped. We started with the $6 HH special, Rattlesnake, which is a frozen marg with sangria swirl. It was heavenly! And at $6, sign me up for two! The burgers were as expected, fantastic. The ranch house was impeccable with that bacon/onion jam. Wish I had another. The fries, both sweet potato and regular were quite crispy and seasoned well. This is a burger place that has quite a selection to choose from and the food is quality.

The atmosphere is super laid back and casual, which we liked--but just a heads up, this isn't the place to go if you're in a hurry. They definitely take their time. There's a ton of seating both inside and outside, and the space itself is pretty fun. The decor is entertaining and they even have some little games around, which adds to the vibe. Everything felt clean--the tables were well taken care of and the bathrooms were spotless. As for food, we ordered the Blue Goat, the H.L. Hunt, the Royale with Cheese, and the cheese fries (No Surprise). I had the Blue Goat (no onions). It was good overall, though I wish the blue cheese flavor was a bit stronger. My husband got the H.L. Hunt and really enjoyed the candied bacon. Our son had the Royale with Cheese and it filled him up so much that he didn't even touch fries--and he loves fries, so that says a lot. Speaking of fries, the order was HUGE--easily enough for 5-6 people. If we come back, I'd definitely dig into those first while the cheese is still warm and gooey. By the time we got to them after our burgers, everything had kind of stuck together. Overall, a fun, casual spot with solid burgers and massive portions--just plan for a slower-paced experience.
