    Curly fries
    Becky G.

We came here because my husband had heard of this place from some co workers. We were dining in because it was my husbands lunch hour. No line when we came but the wait to get it was just too long. Curly fries are really long so they had to be pulled apart to eat. They got cold really fast. Bacon cheeseburger was just ok. Shredded cheese is put on them vs sliced so just a heads up. Bacon strips thin. Flavor of meat was plain and a little on the burned side. They ask how you want the meat cooked. First and last visit for us. Whataburger is better but just our experience and opinion. Price is decent.

It's been quite some time since I last visited Rick's, but it's still a decent burger joint. Their burgers are made to order, so you can have it however you like... Their prices are great as well, it's rare when I can have lunch with my s/o for under $20! Overall better than your average fast food burger, but in no way the best burger in town.

The burger had a great amount of bacon and grilled onions

Great taste, home style food. The burger had a great amount of bacon and grilled onions. The breakfast tacos order comes with two, it's like an omelette inside, very filling. These two items have been very satisfying!

We had a great experience here. Julie at the front counter was friendly. The menu is big and has a wide variety to choose from. Lots of space to spread out inside. The burger, chicken sandwich and fries came out hot and fresh. Julie thanked us for our patience, but we didn't have to wait too long. We'll definitely be back.

I love finding these little dive type burger joints and Rick's is the personification of that. It's a divey little place in the middle of an industrial park, I wouldn't have even seen it had it not been for the snow on the street and me having to drive slowly, but I'm happy for that! I had the double cheeseburger and the fries, both were fantastic. I really love a burger with mayo and mustard the way they made it, and the fries were crispy and flavorful. Service was quick, place is clean, prices are reasonable. This place is 35 minutes from my house, but I will be back!

The restaurant is advertised as "old fashioned" burgers which to me conjures up images of big, thick, juicy burgers that are hand formed. These burgers, however, are very thin and seem to be machine pressed and probably purchased from a meat processing plant. I think old fashioned may refer to made to order. Maybe back in the day when there was not much meat and people were not as prosperous maybe thin burgers were the style. When I ordered I was asked how I wanted my burger cooked which implied a thick burger. These patties are so thin that I don't see how they can be anything but well done. You throw the 1/4 inch patty on the grill and 30 seconds later it is well done. It is not clear how one could actually cook a thin patty to medium. Anyway, the burger is decent but not great. On the number 1 there is lettuce, cheese, tomato, onion, and a ton of mustard. You add the ketchup. You order and they make it to order then bring it to your table. The food is 3 stars but the tables were clean, there is ample seating, and I got a burger, onion rings (from a box) and a drink for $9 so that bumps it to 4 stars. Most of the burgers are in the $4-$5 range which is very reasonable, even for a very thin patty. This place is borderline dive which is fine with me. Very casual. Absolutely no pretension here. Seems to cater to the lunch crowd from the immediate vicinity. Rick's burgers, at least the one I ordered, is not quite as good as Flaming Burger, Burger House, or Jakes in the Lake Highlands/Lakewood area.

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.
