Best hamburger in Dallas!!!! There fries remind me of my mom's fries right out of that cast iron skillet!!!

Still have car hop service..! Even with these temperatures....that's worth 5 Stars right there

5 Stars Just Because: 1. In continuous operation since 1956 2. I never feasted here until today and it was delicious 3. To my knowledge is the only remaining "hamburger stand" of this type left in Dallas 4. Great service 5. This is a big one, Frosted Mug of Root Beer while it's 100 outside!!!! Dairy-ette is all at once an enigma, paradox and sanctuary rolled into one. Off Ferguson Rd in eastern Dallas this place was sitting here when my parents brought me to see my grandmother who lived down the street. However,I knew not of it's existence, until decades later when I was driving to her house myself. A great question is,why haven't you eaten here before? You say even as a Yelp Elite having book marked it years ago you..still didn't? Simply I don't know. What I do know is this place has been in almost the same state of operation for 67 years. In the meantime, I've seen 2 major shopping malls, countless office buildings and some residential streets built and demolished. Go figure. The more things change the more they stay the same. However, fair warning,I have a feeling this endangered species,a living museum seemingly stuck in an episode of Twilight Zone,is going going... You better...Go

Old school place where I grew up. The food is still great. The service is great. Come and check it out.

I've been a customer since 1963 A throwback to the 1950's drive in burger joint with car hops. It remains unchanged and eating great food in your car is a must experience. Try the homemade root beer. Bryan Adams HS and Bishop Lynch alumni know it well.

the place is gettin a one star due to the fact they don't open on time says 11am -6pm and no one is ever here at 11 am i love the burgers and the feel of the place but i have to say cant rely on the hours they posted tgat they are supposedly open

    Try the corn dog!!

The corn dogs are hand dipped & delicious. I'd put it up against a Fletcher's any day of the week. The root beer comes from their own recipe, so what's not to love??

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The patties are juicy, the buns are toasted perfectly, and everything tastes fresh and made with care. You can tell they are not trying to be trendy. They are just focused on making a solid burger every single time. It is the kind of place you keep coming back to because it never disappoints. Quick, simple, and consistently good. If you care more about flavor than atmosphere, this is the spot.

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

Just straight up classic counter service and I was happy for it. The reason I take off one star is because I ordered the turkey burger, but when the chef brought it out he said "here's your chicken burger". So I'm not actually sure what I ate, but I'm also okay with that. It's kinda like a pick your path you know? Anyway I'd definitely go back. Super tasty and the bun was great. The fries were great. The fried pickles were great. Just vibes and love.

The 2 smash patties were small and flavorless, maybe equal to 4 oz of meat total...so disappointing! The bread was huge & thick, unfit for the small meat and mound of veggies dressed atop. The fries were decent yet the place is called chop house burger NOT chop house fries...the service was subpar as well. No one greeted me when I came in, nor did they acknowledge the next guests that followed. The young girl who appeared to be the manager was very short with the next customers who asked simple questions about ordering food on the kiosk screen. She had an earpiece in and yelled to them instructions about ordering and that the drink machines were out, yet they didn't hear her. When they asked her to repeat what are said, she huffed and puffed, removed the earpiece and repeated the instructions brashly. I was disgusted by the food and experience. TRASH! Never again
