After moving back from Las Vegas, this was my first time eating at Lindberg's in a little over two years. Unfortunately, I left disappointed because the food quality just wasn't what I remembered. I had been telling my wife how great the food used to be--almost like gourmet bar food--and was really looking forward to sharing that experience with her. The smash burger no longer tasted like the duck-fat burger I remembered, and the fries definitely didn't seem to be house-made anymore. They tasted more like a lower-quality frozen product, which was a letdown. On the positive side, the service was excellent. Even with the restaurant getting busy and a live band setting up, the staff stayed friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. One thing to note is that we initially arrived around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, only to find out they weren't open and was told that something came up and they didnt open until 3:00 p.m. on this Sunday. Overall, I still enjoyed the atmosphere and appreciate the great service, but I hope the kitchen can get back to the food quality that made Lindberg's one of my favorite spots in the past. read more

LOUD AF on a Tuesday night with incredibly slow service. I like to eat in local places while we're on the road. Read about this place being historic with a beautiful bar and lovely tin ceiling. And that is all true. Walked in and could not believe how loud the single singer with an acoustic guitar was. There was a sound engineer, working a board, so he must've thought that level was OK. But you could not have a conversation at all. I was wishing for earplugs. When we first stepped in, I considered just looking at the carved mahogany bar and going somewhere else. But, we figured it should be fast and we could endure the cacophony for a short time. We were so wrong about it being fast. There was only one wait staff working that night, and she was also behind the bar. When she finally moseys over to us, she admitted she had forgotten all about us. She then took our drink order, and the drinks came quickly. But then she literally never came back to take a food order. Watched her go to all the other tables, watched her clean off the bar, watched her answer a phone call for a takeout order, and then I finally went up to the bar and asked her if we could put in a food order. Once the food was ordered it came out quickly. My husband's smashburger and candied pecan salad were both really delicious. I am a sucker for a local food item whenever I see it on the menu, and I made the mistake of ordering the cashew chicken poutine. The cashew sauce had zero flavor and was just overly salty. The chicken was fried very tough. At least the cheese curds were good. But I barely ate any of it. Nothing but regret about this choice. read more

Stopped by today for lunch during a road trip. The menu is elevated pub fare, with some unique offerings. Service was quick and the historic building was neat. The food absolutely blew away our expectations. The Queen City dip was $20, but so worth it! A generously sized French dip with high quality ingredients and tons of flavor. Food was great. It's a neat place. Service was good but a little slow as they were short on staff. But they were friendly. It's a different vibe but worth trying. I had the shrimp tacos. We went here 5 days ago and again today. Didn't get a picture because we don't bring our phones in to visit and dine. Last week I got fried mushrooms and a small house salad. My husband a smash burger. All was great. Today I had the special pesto turkey burger with Cajun mayo. My husband, the bacon wrapped wings. Lindberghs isn't much to look at--more bar than restaurant. While the bar wasn't hopping on a Sunday evening, the patio and food were buzzing. I opted for the turkey club and fries. The turkey club was served warm and was incredibly delicious. The portions were large--more than I could finish. And the price was incredibly reasonable. The only reason I Lindberghs four stars instead of five was because of service. I'm not sure if they typically have servers in addition to the bartenders, but these two were definitely overwhelmed. read more

Nice place to visit on Commercial St. Food was good. We had the turkey club and patty melt. Both tasted great and as another review said the fries are great. I wasn't a fan of the fresh made ketchup but others may enjoy it. The double smash burger was fine, but the real star of the show was the poutine. If you've never had this Canadian dish before, you need to try it here. It's literally French fries covered in gravy + plus meat for an extra cost (totally worth it)! The pecan bread pudding was not what I expected, huge and cooked with generous servings of bourbon sauce on the side. You can not eat that dessert alone!! I got here at 11:00 and had the beautiful patio nearly all to myself. **Update** I came back around 4:00 PM and got the crab rangoon dip and lobster grilled cheese sandwich. The lobster sandwich is listed as "market price" on the menu. As of today (August 2023), it is $19. If you don't like a lot cream cheese, this sandwich is probably not your thing. The green fried tomatoes that I substituted on the side could also have used more seasoning. The crab rangoon was tasty, but the normal, cheaper, pre-made ones at Chinese restaurants have better crust. I have dined from Milan to Minsk and I have been to Linberg's 6 times. The service has always ranged from indifferent to mildly rude. The food has generally made up for the disparity. Not this time. My realtor suggested this place as I am getting a house in Springfield but needed some suggestions on places to eat. I have already discovered that in this town not a lot of people are posting reviews on Yelp, but we will change that shortly. Walking into this place I knew I was going to like it as soon as I saw a huge picture of Tom Waits on the wall. This building used to be a brothel back in the day, and images of gunslingers getting irritated when they were accidentally bumped at the bar back and random gunfights breaking out over card games are to easy to picture. Because of Covid, open mic nights have been cancelled, so it makes for a nice relatively quiet place to eat during the week. The feel of the place is hipster dingy, with gourmet food that was out of this world! My wife loves poutine but it's hard to get in AZ. This place had her covered though and she said it was amazing. I had a burger, hold the duck fat, as I am just not that brave, and it was not too shabby. Their home made ketchup had a nice zip to it for the fries. The service was great, and so I will call this probably the best place I have eaten at in Springfield so far on this trip. read more

Take Your Wife to a House of Ill Repute! Legend has it that "Lindbergs" was a house of ill repute during the 19 Century. Looking around at the very impressive wood work from that time I did accept the truth of that legend. But it did appear that we were a bit late for any activities that would be considered "ill repute." Being in Springfield for an event at the Fairgrounds that included a large number of campers restaurant capacity did appear strained, and rightly so. That led us off the beaten track to this retro place is an historic neighborhood. That neighborhood was covered with nostalgic themed businesses usually found in the oldest area of a city. No signs on the Interstate Highway, but positive reviews on Social Media. So it sounded like an enjoyable place for an early Friday happy hour / dinner. Finding a street parking spot near the front door is always a good sign, and I did get the idea that street parking should usually be available. Yes, the interior did evoke images of those old days, but the service and menu brought us back to recent times. Considering it was a Friday happy hour, and that almost every table was full, we were able to catch a roomy round table near the bar and the front door. One of the bartenders appeared soon to take our orders and was friendly and helpful. Looking for something not too heavy, but still satisfying, I choose their bacon wrapped hot wings. I had never seen those any place and now wonder why they are not more popular! The remainder of the menu was a combination of contemporary and traditional, and at reasonable prices. Overall, service and food was very good considering the Friday happy hour / early dinner crowd that filled every seat.
