I had a really great experience here last night. I'm in town for work and decided to stop by for dinner, and I'm so glad I did. My bartender, Valerie, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Since I'm not a local, it was really nice to have such an easy and genuine conversation while dining. She made me feel comfortable right away and took great care of me throughout the evening. She made me an Old Fashioned and a Berry Cosmo, and both were excellent. For food, I ordered the 21-day aged T-bone steak and the crab cakes, and everything was delicious. The restaurant also has a really nice atmosphere and décor, which made the whole experience even better. Great service, great drinks, and great food. This meal was so damn good. I've eaten here several times but somehow I've not written a review. I got the 14 oz dry aged ribeye with truffle butter and lobster mac & cheese. I also got the flame old fashioned. This is probably the best meal I recall at Flame. It was perfection. My steak was cooked perfectly, and truffle butter makes everything taste good. The service is great and I love the vibe the ambiance gives like a 80s kinda view were we sat we were in the basement but there food was terrible I mean for there prices I would have expected a good steak I got the filet mignon and I know its a hard steak to cook but again for the price I would have expected it to be good the crust was way too burnt it was like eating charcoal and the meat was nasty I would save your money and just get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse and its shocking cause this place was supposed to be really good read more

We came here on our last night in Springfield for a fun dinner and had a wonderful time. We had reservations and got seated promptly upstairs. The table was very nice and our waitress was very pleasant. Started with a cocktail and then ordered dinner. We got a bread basket and their specialty is popovers. Wow! It's been AGES since I had one and they do them very well! We might have even finagled a second and a third one... My fillet was perfectly cooked and my wife's medallions were as well. The candied bacon on top was quite yummy. We really had a great time, with the only downside being the A/C blasting right at us made it a trifle chilly, but that was not enough to detract from the evening. read more

Wow what a great find. My family was in town and wanted to have a nice steak dinner for my dad's birthday weekend. We found the Flame Steakhouse close to our hotel and are we lucky we did! Because the Flame was FIRE! First of all they come out with a tray of freshly baked bread and blueberry muffins. The service was professional and the atmosphere was classy. The place had a ton of character and felt like it could be a great jazz club. But the food was what made this a great experience. The steaks had a fantastic sear and were seasoned to perfection. Every side I tried from the creamed spinach, loaded baked potato, French fries, and jalapeño cheddar mash were delicious. Everything I tried immediately became my favorite. The only problem was I didn't have two stomachs to fit it all. My wife had the salmon and she ate it all before even got a chance to try it. I had the garbage salad with steak and it was one of the best salads, every single bite had a great texture and flavor. Overall I'd say this is the best place in all of Springfield to enjoy a special evening with some really special food. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary on Halloween!! We were celebrating six years and dressed in vampire costumes. The staff were amazing and our server was very attentive and personable. Our food tasted amazing, and we got a few cocktails, too. Beautiful restaurant, too! At the end, our waitress surprised us with a dessert tree that had chocolate-covered strawberries on it, and a sparkler to celebrate! Just visiting in the area. Once again Yelp comes through with another winner. We went with another couple without reservations on a Tuesday evening. We walked in and saw it was crowded and a little noisy. We were offered immediate seating downstairs. THAT was the best luck. Much quieter, all the same menu, and we had a wonderful service. Our server got every order correct and the food was amazing. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection, flavorful. Everyone raved about their choices. We were very pleased with the entire experience. A rare find in the mid-west. "Flame" is on fire in food, wine, service & ambiance. "Flame" is located in a old brick vintage store front space with high ceilings. The ambiance is off the chart. A very dimly lit, very romantic, old wild wild west saloon style space with balcony style seating. Very beautiful & a very neat experience. Once the wine starts flowing you will think you are in a old saloon where real cowboys & gun slingers once gambled and dined with the fancy ladies swooning on the upper balconies. The service is impeccable, food & drinks top notch. We had the steamed Mussels in a garlic tarragon Beurre blanc sauce. One of my favorite sauces of all time. They nailed it. It was sublime. However, I wish it didn't come in a bread bowl. Garlic bread on the side would be much much better. I have never seen it served this way & wouldn't order it again in the bread bowl. Just garlic bread or regular bread on the side for moi. OuiOui. They also serve a 12 ounce bone in filet. It's the same as the Allen brothers cut. We order them at home from Allen brothers, it's our favorite bone in filet cut. Anyhoo, so we had to have the 12 ounce bone it filet bc it's a fabulous cut that we really enjoy. Flame offers their 12 ounce bone in filet peppercorn crusted etc., with your choice of sauce on the side. We chose the peppercorn crusted version with au poivre sauce on the side. They nailed it also. The crust was super crusty/crunchy peppery fabulousness cooked perfectly. 2.DIE.4. A MUST ORDER. Can not wait to return. Added to my steak house favorites list. This place is on the special occasion restaurant list for my family as it's one of the pricier places in town. However, when you go here you know...the service, the drinks, the food...is all going to be impeccable. Giving 4 stars for this visit (which happened in August...just getting the review written) because it was hot and stuffy the night we went. We were sat in a little alcove area in the main room and the air was not keeping up. In fact, I was literally sweating during the meal. No air was moving through that area of the restaurant. I always start each streak review with Peter Luger's Brooklyn is a 5 * While I go in hopeful that some place else can rival the perfect porterhouse for two. We started with cocktails. All were good. We shared the calamari and it was perfect. Not overcooked, lightly fried. We thought impressive. We ordered two Dry aged KC strips. One Medium and one medium~rare. Either were the dray aged, deep earthy taste of dry aged beef. Perhaps the 21 days is not long enough. However, both were cooked well beyond their temps. Medium rare was a medium to medium well, the medium was nearly well done. The other two beef items medium rare filet and medium rib eye were also over cooked. We did not complain about tbe temps or send them back. I just cannot do that. All did have a great crust and were not over salted. The service was just adequate. My Manhattan was nearly empty at the ending of the first course. I except a professional server to note and ask for a refreshed round before the main dish. This was not the case. For a Friday evening they from roughly 7pm until 930 the restaurant seemed to be at 50% capacity. Perhaps the locals know while good it is not great. read more

I love popovers, so much potential here. Unfortunately the chef this particular day used too much salt. Escargot was served a bit nontraditional in a sourdough bowl with some cream based bacon sauce. It was okay. Not great, okay. Fried portobello mushroom appetizer was equally uninspiring. This being said our main dishes were fantastic. We all had steaks. They were cooked to perfection, the prime rib cut could've been just a little bit more tender and a little thicker but otherwise pretty great. The service was spectacular. We loved the retro red room which is downstairs. The steaks were prepared to perfection and the sides were enough to share.

My friend and I had dinner. She had garbage salad and loved it. I had the Caesar which was authentic along with an appetizer of 2 sliders and fries which is enough for a meal. Waiter did bring me half a salad. Fries had seasoning which was good. Sliders just were not to my liking. Now the table water surprised me-that was actually drinkable. Haven't been here in awhile so we dusted off our party clothes and went downtown for nice meal. We had the filet and split salad and a side. Everything was awesome. Server was good but not great but I'm sure they are still struggling to fine enough staff. If you've never been it is a rare treat in Springfield! Classy place. Surprised they they let my group in.
