From the front door on, this old MFA Mill building has been rejuvenated and repurposed to something really neat. The seating can be hit and miss of sorts in usability or comfort. Eating in a wing back chair, at some odd table, isn't well suited for dining. But, sure looks neat. The food is ok to good: Burger : The burger was really good. Has some jam sauce on it which really works. Beef has a good flavor. The bacon was very good. . Potato soup: The soup is good....but needed far greater seasoning to have it be great. Pork Wings: Again, needed more seasoning to elevate the pork. And the dipping sauces were a bit unusual. And the Asian style sauce - by gosh did it have a ton of saffron. Patagonia side item: These potato chunks weren't much. Potatoes were nothing special, under seasoned and the dipping sauce was unusual. And so much saffron, it was way overpowering. . Is it worth going to - absolutely and the place is neat. But I give an extra 1/2 to 1 star more, just because of the neatness of the place. read more

I really wanted to like The Table. The space itself is absolutely beautiful -- one of the best dining rooms in Springfield -- and it feels like the kind of place that should deliver a more elevated, full-service experience. That's part of what made the counter-service model feel a little out of sync with the atmosphere. We first tried visiting as a group of about 12 on a Saturday around 7 PM. I had called ahead and was told they don't take reservations, so we planned accordingly. When we arrived, we were told there wasn't any way to accommodate our group together -- not even the option to wait for space to open up -- so we ended up going elsewhere. I did come back later with a smaller group for lunch. The experience was better logistically, but still a bit disjointed. The menu felt somewhat scattered, and while we were able to find seating at a communal table, the overall flow felt a bit chaotic. After ordering at the counter, the wait for food was quite long -- around 45 minutes or more -- which gave us plenty of time to observe how things were running. Toward the end, I noticed tables being marked as unavailable/reserved, which made me wonder why a similar approach couldn't have worked for larger groups earlier. When the food arrived, it was good -- nothing wrong with it -- but not especially memorable, especially considering the wait and price point. There's a lot to like here, especially the space and overall concept, but the execution didn't quite match the expectations for me. Stopped by The Table and immediately loved the atmosphere. The restaurant is set in a really cool old building with a huge fireplace that gives the whole place a cozy, welcoming feel. Outside, there's a beautifully manicured patio area that would be a great spot to relax when the weather is nice. A helpful tip for first-time visitors: when you walk in, you order at the counter, get a number, and then choose a seat. They bring the food out to your table. I ordered the strawberry mocktail, which was super refreshing, and the steak. The steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the salad was fresh and crisp. Overall a really enjoyable experience with great food and a unique setting. I'll definitely be back. read more

My experience at the table was absolutely insanely impressive. We got there about 9:30 am and the line was not very long yet, I would suggest going about that time if you're looking for breakfast so that the line would not get as long by 10 AM. Everything is homemade and delicious, best biscuits I have ever had. Highly recommend getting the Carmel latte as well! Also the burrito has pulled pork that was really juicy. Eh, I might try this place again and update my review at that time, but so far, I'm not impressed with the overall experience. Here are my thoughts from my first and only visit thus far. We arrive before dinner rush and there's a group of people clustered together outside. I thought they were all together and were waiting for their large party to be seated, so I walk straight to the door to put my name on the list. I reach for the door handle and I'm abruptly stopped by a guy standing outside. I thought he was a customer who was part of that large party, and I was confused as to why he was inches from my face trying to stop me from going inside. It took me a moment to comprehend what was happening, but then I realized that he either worked there or owned the place and was trying to tell me that I couldn't go inside. He said "the line starts back there" and pointed to the people wrapped standing in clusters on the porch/patio area. I couldn't tell before based on where we parked, but there was a moderate line of people waiting to put their name on the list (or so I thought), wrapping around the front of the building. Ok, my bad. I go to the end of the line and other customers in line explain how this place works. They weren't waiting to put their name on a list, they were waiting to place their order. This is the kind of place where you order and pay at the counter, and then go grab a seat.... ugh... I can't stand that style of restaurant, so that was an immediate turn off. This place was too elaborately designed to be styled this way for the service. Speaking of, let me backup a bit. This building looks really cool. There's a very huge, ornate door, large windows, lounge areas outside, etc. This is not an order-at-the-counter-and-find-a-seat type of place. We finally make it inside and see that there's still a long line to get to the counter to order. I am not a fan of places that don't have full table service and let you order at your table. And for any restaurant owners reading this, I absolutely will spend more money at a restaurant with full table service because I can take my time to review the menu at the table before placing my order. When I can take a moment to review everything, I don't feel rushed to make a decision. So, your loss there. Anyway, we make our way inside the door and that same guy is hovering over us and the other folks entering the building. It was really awkward. He opens the doors for each group as if we're not allowed to touch the door handle, and not in a doorman sort of way. It was really uncomfortable, especially since they have a small mercantile inside that you could be coming to shop at even if you don't want to eat. But I guess you have to wait in line to do that too. The whole line issue was a major turn off for me and for that reason alone, I'm not sure we'll return. Ok, so we're reviewing the menu and it's quite limited on entree options. The 417 Foodie guy was there too and he gave us some suggestions of things he liked on his last visit, so we took that into account. There are a good amount of bakery items you can order, but you can't see all the options until you get to the counter... where you feel pressured to order quickly. We place our orders and then it was time to fight for a table when most of them were taken by people who hadn't received their food yet. I saw people sitting with their groups at various tables, and then the staff would have them move elsewhere, presumably so there would be a better match of patrons to seats at the tables. So, at least they helped with that. A lot of the furniture was cloth that's impossible to get clean, so I'm not sure why they chose that style of furniture for a restaurant that offered more than light bakery items and coffee. Doesn't seem like a good choice for a place flipping tables so quickly; BUT, it did fit the vibe of the place. Speaking of the vibe, you have to visit the restrooms. I only visited one of them but it was very cool! Ornate fixtures, a really cool mirror and sink basin. Even the outlet plates were ornate and vintage. The decor was immaculate in the restrooms and in the dining area. Now back to the food. I had the smashburger and fries with a tea, and I also ordered a coffee and lemon bar. It was all good, but not worth the price, at all. Everything was served on wooden dishes, some of which had imperfections that would hold onto bits of food. There's no way these wooden dishes are going to last or remain sanitary for repeated use by customers, so that was a bit disconcerting. These aren't the type that can be run through a dishwasher. So yeah, overall, the place is a vibe, definitely. The service options were a let down. The food was good, no complaints there, but the price is not even close to comparable for what we received. Would I go again? I'm honestly not sure. It's possible. Not sure I could talk my husband into it though. He wasn't a fan. read more

So I came here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch and literally the weight was over 45 minutes just to order food. The parking lot is far too small for how busy this establishment is. The inside is very eclectic and clearly everyone is enjoying it and Springfield because it is absolutely packed. I have never seen a restaurant so busy in this town in my entire life!! The staff here are extremely personable and friendly, and truly make sure that everyone is aware of the reality of time you'll spend waiting to order and finding a table. Super cool location. Mix between a tea room a novelty shop and a solo. Arrive at off hour times. The typical wait to order during normal meal hours can be between 25-45 minutes. If you are in a group of more than you are asked to move to the side until a table big enough opens for your group- and everyone behind you gets to order ahead of you- after you waited 25 minutes to just get to the counter to order. After you are seated you definitely feel the push to hurry along so more can be seated. Unfortunately for the table- it's one of the few non chain restaurants to come to town. The food is ok. Been here twice. Once when they first opened and now. Same thing different day. I hope they get it fixed before people stop returning. read more

That said, I'm not a big fan of the "order at the front, then we'll bring it to you" setup--especially outside of a bakery or café, where it at least makes more sense. This really feels like a true sit-down restaurant, just without traditional table service. During the lunch rush, the line stretched out the door and around the corner. Waiting 30 minutes just to order, with no guarantee of finding a table afterward, isn't ideal. On top of that, there was someone trying to manage seating for people still in line, which made the whole experience feel a bit chaotic and unnecessarily complicated. All that said, I'm glad to have a place like this in town. It's great to see a historic space brought back to life, and the food definitely delivers--it's just the ordering system that doesn't quite sit right with me. read more

I went in very skeptical and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a Monday night at 5:30 and the place was packed. The line was to the door. But it's clear they have a system and it works. It seemed like we would have to wait quite a while for a table but while we waited one of the owners was watching tables move and getting everyone seated timely. By the time we ordered our food there was as a table ready and within 25 minutes we had our food. The ribeye was cooked perfectly the street corn dip was delicious. Stunning atmosphere with a perfectly paired cuisine. You cannot only see, but feel the effort and care put into this restaurant. Just driving by, I was compelled to check it out. Walking in, my jaw dropped. The ambience.is so special...different...inviting. I ordered the Harvest bowl (A+), and my husband loved the smash burger and fries. We then met one of the owners, Sherri, ( I believe) who was so beyond friendly and kind. She came to the table to say hello and even shared with me the name of the most beautiful paint color on the walls. Some may find the entree selections to be limited. I chose the ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and the Greek quinoa salad. It was not cheap but, honestly, I did not mind. The steak was absolutely perfect, melt in your mouth, seasoned and cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes held their own against that amazing steak. The salad...i would have liked a bit more greens and a bit less grain, but it also was very good. My friend had the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries and she loved all of it - I tasted her fries they were so good. Another friend had the hamburger and said it was outstanding. You order your food and pay at the counter and staff brings the food to your table. The service was very good - there is plenty of staff around if you need anything. I loved the atmosphere. It's warm and inviting and very nicely appointed with reclaimed old wood shelving and counter. There is also a little gift shop that i did not get to explore this time. The space is large with high ceilings and a great firepit right in the middle of the room, the chimney goes up thru the ceiling. I was very pleasantly surprised - I really liked the whole vibe. The music was perfect and the food was great. I definitely will be going back. They have outdoor firepits too, I'm interested to see how it evolves. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5 really is the limited dinner entrees and salad options. I eat clean so a lot of their options were not for me. read more

The food was good, but like a previous review mentioned some of the seating isn't the best for dining. I chose a adirondack chair around slate gas fire place that was turned off at the time. I tried placing my drink on the chair arm, but the chair had no cup holder indents. The drink kept sliding off into my lap if I would let it. I didn't want ants in it from the ground, so I placed it on the slate of the fireplace along with my phone. A lot of my group followed suit with their drinks and trays. Then the fireplace got turn on with our trays and phones on the edges catching the napkins on fire. The manager came out slowly and didn't apologized. She just said they wanted to turn it on if that was alright. One person ask if her wine could be replaced from getting knock off in the frenzy to get clear of the fire and the manager quietly took it and came back with a new glass. I was baffled by how the situation was handled, and think a couple little side tables outside would be a great addition. read more

Interesting service model: wait in line, order and pay, pick your own table from those marked "Spoken For". Fix your own beverage (but they forgot to give us glasses). Upscale atmosphere, my meal was delicious but my two dining partners were unimpressed. Walkup ordering and paying immediately meant tipping prior to being seated, served and eating, which was a little off-putting. Hopefully this ensures tips are shared. Limited menu not an issue but not really unique items. I did like being able to leave when we wanted instead of having to wait for the check. It's a mixed bag. Restrooms were over the top with elaborate fixtures, definitely fun. Parking lot was awkward and extremely limited, we parked in an adjacent lot and walked through an unpaved section while hoping we wouldn't be ticketed. Prices were reasonable. Hopefully this restaurant will listen to the clientele and succeed, it's got potential! read more

The food was so good. We had the street corn and chips to share . The cajun chicken pasta was so good. The burger was so so good. The chicken tenders were also very good. The ambience is 10 out of 10. Beautiful decor very well done! The outside area was super nice, can't wait for Spring to take advantage of that! My only small bother was that the parking lot was too small for the amount of people that were there and we did have to park around the back where there's no street lights, it was kind of creepy and not in the best part of town to be in an unlit area alone. read more

Tried The Table with high hopes. My group was very excited by the social media promotion of this establishment. The ambience is great! It's beautiful inside, and the music was nice. I felt like there were many good food choices on the menu. We ordered, and very shortly after got our food (quicker than you would think for what we ordered). It was apparent after one bite that the food was lukewarm. Not just one food item we ordered, but all of it. I ate despite that, and kept getting hard rice from the harvest bowl. The steak was also hard to chew. Overall I liked the flavor, it just seemed like our food wasn't made fresh. Much of what I would expect if I reheated food from the night before with the quality. That was disappointing. There is a chance I might come back and try the breakfast menu, hopefully it would be freshly made. read more

We are so lucky to have this new gem of a restaurant in Springfield!!! This building is gorgeous and the food is delicious. I am giving it five stars because I want us to have nice things in Springfield and I believe with just a little time it will fill in to the five star review. The positives is that the ambiance is amazing...we walked in on a chilly day and the fire was roaring. The staff was so pleasant and friendly. The menu is interesting, beautifully presented, and came out fairly quickly. The negatives which could be personal preference is that the space is so gorgeous it really deserves to be full service instead of counter service, they serve cocktails so why not have a little bar to sit at, and the salad portions are very small and we were still hungry after eating but the chicken strip meal our daughter ordered was huge so we were thankful she shared. I will know next time to order something else on the side. The salads were absolutely delicious...I just wanted more!!! The chicken strips and crinkle fries with sauce were homemade and amazing. Looking forward to going back when things aren't so crazy. They put a sign up outside the door when they are at capacity but no one is out there to enforce it so people just walk in and stand in line anyways. Let's start with ambiance--that would get a 5--the fireplace, decor, and vibe was lovely. The service was also a 5; however, the food I give a 3.5. We ordered the corn dip with chips and got Queso instead, which was disappointing. We also ordered the smash burger and chicken tenderloins and a side of house fries. The burger lacked acid, looking for a pickle at least on the side. The chicken tenders, also, needed more seasoning or at least more acid in the honey mustard dip. It was a good experience, and will go back--next time I will spell out CORN DIP to the cashier who took our order. I hope you make it. Restaurant business is hard. read more

The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the decor is farmhouse chic, the location in a grain storage building is so unique and the food is excellent. However, when the restaurant is busy, it's hard to hear your table conversations because the floors are concrete and lots of ceiling space for sound to bounce around. I am 66 with hearing issues so the sound issue is unique to me and the older crowd. If they could muffle the sound it would be awesome. read more
