Palm & Paddle was an excellent dining experience from start to finish. My wife ordered the Jerk Chicken Entrée and absolutely loved it. The chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned, and full of bold Caribbean flavor. The black beans and fresh mango salsa complemented the chicken beautifully, while the island rice was an outstanding side that tied everything together. My youngest daughter chose the Jerk Chicken Bowl and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The portions were generous, and it delivered the same incredible jerk chicken, beans, rice, and toppings all combined into one flavorful bowl. I went with the Pineapple Teriyaki Chicken served with island rice and mashed sweet potatoes. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the teriyaki sauce had just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering, and both the rice and the mashed sweet potatoes were exceptional. We also sampled several of their Caribbean-inspired cocktails, and every one of them was well-crafted and balanced. I especially enjoyed the rum flight and a Mezcal Old Fashioned--both were excellent and worth ordering again. The atmosphere is just as impressive as the food. The restaurant features two levels with outdoor seating on both floors, and the upstairs bar creates a great place to relax. They also offer live music on Thursdays and daily specials, giving us another reason to come back. If you're looking for outstanding Caribbean-inspired food, creative cocktails, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere, and great service, Palm & Paddle is absolutely worth the visit. We decided to try a new place for dinner. Palm &Paddle is a well designed restaurant with downstairs and upstairs seating. And there is an elevator. The downstairs patio is large with plenty of seating. The bar is upstairs and there's also a balcony with 3 tables available. We selected a table in the downstairs dining room. My mom had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken with sweet potatoes and she said it was so good. My daughter had the Pulled Jerk Chicken bowl. She said it had a slight kick to it and she really liked it. I ordered the Anana burger. It comes on a brioche bun but I opted for no bun and had it served on a bed of lettuce instead. The presentation was appealing and my burger was delicious. I subbed grilled vegetables for the fries and everything was so, so good. I went with sweet tea to drink. Palm &Paddle has a wonderful menu. Next time I want to save room for the beautiful key lime that's on the menu. This restaurant is located right next door to LaQuinta and directly across the street from Dunkin Donuts. This is our first time at Palm and paddle Grille. We live in Springfield and yet we've never been here and this place has been open over a year. You don't see it from the street but when you arrive, you see this restaurant in a modern two story building. Our waitress was kind and very cooperative. Our food was excellent. Our waitress suggested ordering their award-winning pulled jerk chicken, and it was excellent. My wife ordered the fish tacos, and their presentation and flavor were excellence as well. WOW! I wish I had thought to take pictures. We went here for a late lunch. Everything was superb, to include the service! Here's what we ordered: Snorkels appetizer, Coconut Shrimp Entree, Island Trio Entree, and the Chef's Choice of a Chipotle Tilapia entree. Not a crumb was left on our plates. The coconut shrimp and chicken paired so well with their sweet chili sauce. The rib meat fell off the bone, and the fish was perfect. For dessert we had the salted caramel plantains, tres leches cake and a chocolate cake. We were bursting at the seams. The atmosphere was nice and quiet with Caribbean music in the background. We have been here twice now and both visits were quite enjoyable. Both times I had the coconut chicken and it was the perfect level of crispiness, while the chicken was perfectly cooked. The accompanying remoulade sauce is the perfect addition to coconut chicken. The flavors meshed well. My meal came with coleslaw, which was also delicious. I added a side of roasted corn. I thought it could've been a little more flavorful than it was, but it wasn't bad. For appetizers, we had the chips and dips, subbing, an additional queso in place of the bean dip, and we also had the snorkelers, which were tater tots stuffed with cheese and bacon. Both were quite good. I wasn't a big fan of the mango salsa on the chip and dip appetizer, though, as it was a bit bland and watery for me. My husband found it bursting with flavor, so it sounds like it's just a difference in flavor palettes. For dessert, we had the Keylime pie and the dolce de Leche. Both were great. The restrooms were very clean and well stocked, in addition to being very modern, with automatic dispensers for soap, water, and paper towels. The sink also had plenty of space for you to maneuver while washing your hands without your hands bumping the faucet or the sink bowl. I loved that. Everything was excellent. I travel to Springfield for work, and I never know what to eat. When I tell you, hours later I'm still ridiculously full and happy, I am. Unfortunately when I arrived I had to wait a while to get the hostess, then I had to be patient to get a server also, but I tell you, the food is worth it. My eyes jumped around the whole menu for a long time, I could not decide, I wanted to try EVERYTHING. Alas, I found the perfect entree, "Can't decide? Pick 2 entrees and get 2 sides" I did not need this many calories, but I regret NOTHING. I'll start with the coconut shrimp. I have been traumatized by this item in the past, in other situations. These coconut shrimp were perfect. A light batter and just a hint of coconut flavor with the coconut shreds. They were accompanied by the house mango habanero sauce which was also on my grilled chicken. I will spare you the details on how much I loved this sauce and just leave it at, I could have drank the ramekin. My 2 sides were the soup du jour, a savory chicken soup with black beans, corn and a ton of flavor and also the Rasta Pasta, pasta with onions and peppers and very solid, savory flavor. I am in town once a month and this place is not far from the new Element hotel. I plan on coming back! read more

It may be a bit hard to find, but once you do it is worth it! The restaurant is the back building in a new space called The Creek. We sat at the bar on the second floor. The tv above the bar that played Caribbean beach scenes was a nice touch--making it feel like an escape to paradise with my Coconut Martini in hand. The Coconut Shrimp Beach Bites were tender and flavorful--but the Sweet and Sour Slaw with pineapple was my favorite bite. The Caribbean Jerk Tiki Tacos were delicious. They were also topped with the Sweet and Sour Slaw. The jerk seasoning could have been ramped up a bit as they were not spicy at all. Overall, we had a great meal. This new Caribbean inspired restaurant, is the first of its kind in Springfield. In short, this place will finally provide a restaurant option which is different and refreshing. Let's comment on some of the dishes: - Grilled shrimp appetizer: This was a winner of the dish. Shrimp tonight were cooked perfectly. The butter sauce is melded with a chili oil mix of some sort that really works. - Nachos: Cheese sauce needs to be a bit warmer, but plenty of toppings which include black beans, corn, mild jalapeño etc. And the dish (didn't) have too many dry chips - which is a good thing in my book! - Smoked Gouda soup: A tomato based soup with a good amount of Gouda cheese within the soup. Overall, a good soup starter to the meal. - Carne Asada entree: This dish is done very well. Char on the steak but (still) cooked to temp of mid-rare. The mango salsa is a good acid compliment to cut the richer meat taste. - Cuban: They've got the bread coming in from Florida which is the start to a good Cuban sandwich. Has pork and ham on the Cuban. This sandwich can stand to be thicker meat slices in order to prevent being dried out on the cook. - Various sides: Black beans have the right taste but a touch salty tonight; they'll get that dialed in. Roasted corn was pretty good/different side from the norm. Mixed vegetables need a bit less cook and leave some texture. Island rice is a good rice side for a meal. Fries are good and good fry texture, with a softer inside potato taste. The service and pace of meal clicked along at a good pace. The overall feel and ambiance of the place is quite comfortable. Starting with the drinks. Exquisitely flavored teas as well as many unique alcoholic beverages with a beautiful bar and overall wonderful atmosphere. The service from the first step in was nothing short of spectacular even offering us window seating on the top floor. Our waitress was very caring and patient as it's our first time in. Ordered: Mango Habanero Chicken bowl, paired with a nice rice, avocado, black beans and pickled red onion for my lady and she was very pleased. I enjoyed the fresh sea food special which was, Tilapia with a mango sauce, bowl of vegetables and again the very nice rice. The palate was shocked with the new flavors of this wonderful establishment, I highly recommend for any occasion. But on to the important part, the dessert. The P&P Cubano was delicious! The bread was fresh and toasted perfectly, with a great ratio of meat, and the mustard was creamy with just the right amount of tang and sweet. The sweet slaw wasn't my favorite, but that's comparing it to the other fantastic sides. So the bar was set pretty high. The coconut chicken and shrimp are our go-to's and are so good they make it difficult to try anything new. We LOVE the sweet chili orange lime sauce! The pineapple Teriyaki pork loin has a wonderful flame-touched char with a sweet and savory Teriyaki sauce. The key lime pie is easily enough for two. It's rich and indulgent with the perfect amount of lime zing. This is a fantastic restaurant with a wonderful outdoor area. We've eaten here a half dozen times and have yet to sit indoors. This place is so much fun! The menu has lots of options and a great Caribbean flare. They have a variety of beachy flavored cocktails as well and the service was great. You also have the option of sitting outside, at the bar or in the seating area. I highly recommend this place. They even have cute T-shirts for your next vacation! read more

My sister and I were in the mood for something tropical for lunch last week so we tried Palm & Paddle Grille. It's a beautiful restaurant, very tropical themed down to the color of the water glasses and the paint on the walls. Our server (also the bartender), Tino, was excellent! The food was good, too. I had the three tacos (carne asada) and the flavor with the slaw and pickled onions was excellent! My sister had a salad with the carne asada and it was kind of sparse. My suggestion to the staff is not to ask how people want their meat cooked because the pieces of thin-cut so although we ordered "rare" the steak was well done. I don't think there's a way around that given the size of the pieces, so maybe don't ask that? Normally, I cannot eat well done beef, but it was tender and the flavor with the other ingredients was really, really good. Give it a try -- the folks are super nice, and the food is good. read more

I went with a friend for lunch on a Sunday. The restaurant was about 25% full. The waitress explained it was her first day serving; not a problem, we had no where to be. My patience got very thin after waiting 15+ minutes for drinks and then having to hunt someone down for a refill. Food came out almost at the same time even though we ordered an appetizer and our meals came with salad. I asked twice for to-go boxes, I asked twice to have her give me one bill instead of two, I had to again hunt down someone for salt and pepper. The food was good; not great, but good. I had coconut chicken tenders. In my opinion they were more in the burned side and while they had some flavor, these definitely could use some more. Fries were excellent. The best thing was that they serve Coke products. As I was leaving I indicated to the server that our waitress could maybe use a little bit of help, I got a blank stare with no response. Will I go back? Probably. I am completely understanding of new staff but when it takes multiple requests to get what we've asked for, it really takes down the enjoyment. read more

The only grievance I have is the downstairs area being so open and having quite the echo, especially when it's not super busy. Otherwise, the ambiance is amazing.
