If you're looking for an old-school flat scalded burger. And this place has gone to the feast cut fries which are great too. You'll enjoy the place a lot. The chili as I say, is a love it or hate kind of thing. I personally love it - but I've also had it since I was about 5 yrs old. Oh....the decor. It's eclectically neat. Great joint! I love it. Huge portions and great menu. Server was busy as hell but still made time to make us to go drinks and thank us for coming in. I loved it at other location but I think this location is even better. Calories don't count here guys. Food was good but not hot ( temperature wise) I looked over that because they were packed. I'll keep going and trying new things on menu. Got a T-shirt and will be back. Turn up that stove and get your chili hot ! Too good of a spot for it not to be warm. This place was so lovely! I just ate here with my dad for his birthday. I got the #6 chicken tender combo, and it was absolutely delicious! Also, you HAVE to get the Kool-Aid. It's Kool-Aid with sprite, and it's AMAZING. Our waitress was so funny, and very very interactive and sweet! You also have to try the Gunslinger hot sauce, it's hot but so so so good! To be honest I am kind of surprised that Casper's has so many stars to it's name. It is a cute little hometown joint to be sure. The waitress was attentive when the food came, but they were packed so it took a long time to get service or even a place to sit. Their claim to fame is their chili. I had a cheeseburger and regular hot dog with chili. I was expecting to be amazed given all of the reviews. But I found it was just a burger like you'd get at Freddy's and a hot dog covered with chili that just didn't wow me. It wasn't terrible, but to be honest I could have eaten at Culvers and been just as happy. Their fries are exactly what you would get there. Disappointing Experience at the New Casper's Location I've been a regular at Casper's for years, even before they moved, but since the move, the experience has taken a turn for the worse. I didn't say much when the burgers didn't quite measure up, but this last visit was hard to ignore. I ordered the Frito pie for $8.99, expecting a plate of Fritos smothered in chili and cheese, as advertised. Instead, I got a plate with some chili on top--not nearly enough to cover the chips. I tried mixing it up to get an even coat, but it was impossible. When I asked for just a little more chili, the waitress hesitantly mentioned there would be an extra charge. She offered to check, then returned and repeatedly apologized, saying it was the new management's policy. It wasn't her fault, but it showed how the new management is trying to nickel and dime customers. If you're going to charge nearly $9 for a Frito pie (something other places sell for $6), at least don't skimp on the chili. Even the people next to me at the bar were shocked. One of them mentioned that with just a little bit of customer service, they'd come back. We all agreed--no more visits to this location. What a shame. read more

Caspers is the place to go. It's nine dollars but it's $20 worth of chili fries. If you visit Springfield, you must eat at Casper's! We went with our cousins who have been before. The restaurant is in a Quonset hut. So eclectic and cozy! The art on the wall and ceilings was so much fun. Our waitress Marci was super friendly! She said the best thing to order is the double meat cheeseburger so that's what we got! The patties are thin so it wasn't overwhelming. The buns were steamed and so soft. I had the onion rings too and others at our table had the fries. All delicious. Casper's was a restaurant on my "Springfield bucket list" so my husband and I stopped by on our lunch break. It was definitely an "experience". The restaurant itself is fun & quirky with a definite "greasy spoon hole-in-the-wall diner" vibe. Due to covid protocols, about half the seating was blocked off with only two corner booths and the counter seating available. Our waitress was very efficient and nice & after a short wait, we were seated (with our permission) next to a quirky stranger at the full booth. We ordered the double chili cheese burger, chili cheese dog, and a fry basket. The burger itself was good, but the rest of the food was "meh". For a place famous for their chili, we expected more seasoning/flavor. Unfortunately, my husband summed it up as "the chili tastes like it just got dumped out of a can." The fries were just okay & the hot dog was a generous size but not that flavorful. We're glad we got to experience Casper's, but it's definitely not a place we need to re-visit. read more

I was anxious to try Casper's at their new location on S. Glenstone. Previously my coworkers and I were regular customers at the old place on Main St.. I was rather disappointed to find the chili was not the same chili as it always was. It had more chili seasoning and was not as mild as before. I happen to like a chili with a bit of a bite so it was perfect for me. Even though it was not the same chili as before, it was still good. Mine came out barely even warm though which was a bit disappointing. The staff were friendly. The place seemed clean. All that said, I would eat there again but would not expect the original Caspers chili. The tastebuds want what the tastebuds want. read more
