Vegan cookies!!! I stopped by this place after having Chipotle for dinner, out of curiosity. I was delighted to see they had some vegan options. I ordered a birthday cake, double chocolate chunk and chocolate chunk cookie, vegan of course. I was expecting them all to be very similar with that typical cloyingly sweet nondescript commercial cookie flavor. Much to my surprise, they each had their own unique character, with the right balance of sweetness for a cookie. They were an absolute pleasure to eat. Actually, when I got back to my hotel room, they were so good, I ate all 3. Whoopsie. Hahaha! Not complaining. My only complaint is that all the cookies are not vegan. There is no need to use animal products when the vegan cookies are just as delicious and ethically superior to the non-vegan ones. Well after movie night on Friday we decided that fresh baked cookies and brownies sounded spectacular. Especially if we didn't have to bake them and could simply enjoy them. And my daughter, being the genius that she is, located Insomnia. We enjoyed 2 movies so it was after 1 a.m. but this cookie shop did have the nerve to name themselves Insomnia cookies so off we went. Since it's a cookie shop of course there's milk and there's also ice cream. We purchased chocolate chunk cookies, a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie and a brownie. The brownie was the best. One thing about Insomnia that I actually couldn't stand is that it's cashless. The mini Chocolate Chip cookies were not too shabby. I also tried a few bites of the chocolate chip brownie but after running around the block like Wiley E Coyote with a rocket strapped to my back I decided it had just a little too much sugar for my taste. The winner winner chicken dinner for me is their peanut butter cookies. Do Not Spend Your Money Here. I had to choose a star to post this review my experience deserves -minus stars! I went to the Insomnia Cookies located at 108 Kimborough street in Springfield, Missouri. By her look (Erin) upon arrival, I was already uneasy feeling that I came into the wrong place. After placing my order the counter person flung the box of cookies at me. I was so shocked that she behaved in such a manner, I requested a refund of which she refused stating that she could not refund my money. She then ran to the back and called the police stating that I was threating. I called the police also because I wanted a full refund, the dispatch officer who took my call asked me to step outside, as she could hear Erin yelling at me over the phone. I went outside and the counter lady locked the door behind me. Two officers came to the location badge #1574 and #2026 and one of the officers began to ask me for my name, DOB, and SSN. I asked why my SSN was needed and he said he was, "doing an investigation, and he wanted to identify me." Puzzled by the term "investigation" I refused stating that I just wanted a refund please. I also asked if there were other African Americans in the area and one officer stated a little. The same counter person gave the refund receipt to the officer of which the officer stated that if I ever come back to this Insomnia Cookie location I would be considered a trespasser, arrested, and placed in prison (yes the irate officer stated prison). I am an African American educated person! I could not help feeling that if I would have made another move the officers that responded would have used force to arrest me. Ferguson, Missouri was just the tip of the iceberg. If your are the minority and just want the Insomnia Cookie experience please go to another state. Pass go and please DO NOT STOP HERE! read more

I love cookies. They are much better than cake and pie. Very convenient. You can eat them with your hands. There's an unlimited variety. They can be portioned easily. Eating two or three is socially acceptable. Try that with cake or pie. You'll be labeled a pig pretty quickly. Best of all they are portable. If you have a shirt pocket or purse drop one in for later. You can't do that with pie. All that to say I know cookies. These were not the best I've ever eaten but they're pretty darn good. This place is Awesome!!! We were looking for some dessert before heading back to our hotel, as we are in town for my daughter's wedding. I did a quick check on Yelp and it being almost 10pm I didn't think we would have much of a choice in finding a sweet treat. I came across Insomnia Cookies and decided to go knowing my husband wouldn't say no because he's a little bit of a Cookie Monster. Just walking in to the store you are smacked in the face with the wonderful aroma of fresh baked cookies!! My husband acted like a kid on Christmas Morning; He was so excited!! We ordered the 4+4 which was 4 classic cookies and 4 deluxe and a loaded brownie. The Salted Carmel cookie is definitely our favorite, but also my husband loved both the classic peanut butter and the deluxe peanut butter cookies. The brownie was nice and chocolaty and yummy as well. This place is in the perfect spot being downtown right near the college. Props to the owner for making delicious cookies and picking the perfect spot to make a lot of money!!! This place would definitely do well in California near any and all of our numerous colleges!! We have been in town for a week and we went 2 times spending over $40 each time. I'm taking some home with me on the plane tomorrow!! I ordered insomnia cookies for my niece. They were supposed to be delivered to a residence hall on MSU's campus. The delivery driver texted me and said they did not know where they were supposed to go. The app said they were delivered but they were not. I called the store. Good cookies, terrible customer service! I ordered cookies for a surprise delivery for my husband 24 hours in advance. They were not delivered at 12:30 when they were supposed to be, nor did anyone notify me about the late delivery. I called the store around 1:05 and they told me they ran out of cookies the night before and were waiting on them to come out of the oven, and would be delivered "in a few minutes". I said no problem and asked if they could add a bottle of milk to my order. They said No! I was shocked! I said, "Really? You can't add a bottle of milk to my order?" I like this place well enough, but it's basically for people who don't know how to use an oven. The cookies are good, but unremarkable. A trip to the store, for the same price as one trip here, could keep you in the same quality of cookies for a week. It costs more than I want to pay for standard cookies. Now, I know not everyone will feel this way. It's open late and it delivers. These are cookies for the "too high to bake crowd." Plus, it's always full of people so it's fun if you actually go there. It's good for a way to end the night if you're downtown. I feel the same way about the overpriced and horribly sloppy and substandard donuts at Hurt's. The customer service rep I spoke to over the phone acted annoyed when I told her I wanted to cancel my order. She did and then told me that it was going to take 3-5 business days to reimburse my account. She then told me that she was sending me an email with a coupon for free cookies. When I read the email, it was for 6 cookies but requires you to purchase something before you can redeem it (dumb) and is also for delivery only.
